Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Thanks Fisher, Courtney and Blen.

Courtney, that makes me feel a little better about my weight gain. I was up 12 pounds already when I weighed myself last week. That's an 8 pound gain in 4 weeks. I know they say that 1-2 pounds per week is normal in the 2nd or 3rd tri, but if I keep gaining like this, that would mean a total of about 60 pounds when all is said and done. I'd end up weighing as much as my 6'1" DH

.

Blen, if I get to look like you down the road, then I'm really excited! You have such a cute bump!

Alright girl, I'm being bad. Well, not really bad since DH said I could, but still, not being patient like I said I would. I've been analyzing our u/s video, taking screen shots and analyzing some more and I *think* I see blue in my future. Here's what I think is the money shot. What do you ladies think?

robbie3982moneyshot2.jpg

Ok tmi ?....I think I''ve asked this before but didn''t get an answer...anyone else have tightening or pressure of the "vah-jay-jay"when turning in bed or standing up? It goes away but its weird and I wonder if its normal...its the vag itself that just feels like its tight. Scares me a little and will ask the doc..just thought maybe someone else experienced that???

DD- when''s the shower? Was it ystdy or today?

DD that''s a good way to think of it! I haven''t gotten any stranger comments yet. I''m anxiously awaiting the first.

NYC, I''ve had an achy, pressure kind of feeling come and go over the last week. I posted about it on the bump and a ton of girls chimed in and said that they had it too. One girl said her doc told her it was from the baby putting pressure on the cervix. I''m going to mention it to my doctor tomorrow at my appointment. I''m not sure if what I''m feeling is exactly the same as what you''re describing, but sometimes the pressure is so much that it feels like my vag is going to fall out of my body.

Hi guys. good to read about all of you. Not too much time, but robbie I agree I think there is blue in your future! Congrats and I can''t wait to see if you are correct! cute baby by the way and cute bump too!

robbie-I think I see a little something there too! As for showing, I agree with the other ladies. Everyone is different. I don''t have a bump but my pants don''t fit at all. Why? Because I''ve grown inches in my hips and rear
6.gif
. I''m getting wider
39.gif
I''ll have to post a photo one of these days pre-preg cause I''m not kidding when I say that I was extremely wide in the hips area and now I''m even wider
38.gif

nyc-I haven''t felt any pressure but I do feel twitches in the area if I move in bed too quickly or get up too quickly.

Thanks robbie- it does sound like the same thing...it feels like all the muscles in there are tightening up (if there are muscles there lol) ...lemme know what the doc says tom since mine is on wed ;)...I hope its not affecting cervix!

I wish I could help with the u/s pic but I am so bad with those things..can barely make anything out. I think if ur belly is carrying rounder its a boy..and if it protrudes out its a girl (duno if this theory was discussed before lol)...like I think DD is carrying more round (I don''t remember her belly pics at the moment)..so my guess boy...just like neat was rounded. Its not a proven theory but its fun ;)

Robbie it does look like boy parts to me...but hard to be sure! Could your DH agree to YOU finding out and not telling him? I guess it might be hard on you not to slip though...exciting either way girl!!!

Fiery- I have the twitches there too!
U need to post a pic asap ;)

Robbie, I think I''m inclined to agree with you on that one. Those look suspiciously like boy parts to me, although I know it''s possible for other stuff to look similar. And thanks!

Weight gain... I''m so glad I''m not getting on the scale because I have a feeling that the number''s creeping up there. But I know so many women who gained 50-60 pounds while pregnant, and it''s not the end of the world. One of them has a baby who is only something like 8 or 9 months old, gained 60 pounds while pregnant, and looks like she''s back down to a size 0-2 right now.

My mom told me that she didn''t even know what stretch marks looked like until my brother went thru a growth spurt and got some. I thought they were supposed to be genetic?!

My in-laws are in town and just bought us a ton of baby stuff, including a Medela PIS.
36.gif
We''re almost set on baby stuff now.

I''m having baby name doubt. Any opinions on George Everett versus Oliver Everett? DH''s grandpa is Joseph Oliver, George has no family significance... but I''m wondering if Oliver''s about to become very popular. It''s definitely on the upswing.

Blen- my vote is for oliver...I think its different and more unique than george..I don''t know if oliver is on the rise or not but george is def. More common than oliver. And being it has significance that''s even better!

Blen I actually like George a little better. It''s more classic, which I like for boys.

Oliver has been in the UK top 5 for the last however many years - it is hugely popular over here, you can guarantee 2 or 3 Olivers in any primary school class. Ditto for Olivia.

George barely makes our top 100.

Ah see geography plays a role in the naming dept..in the states george is way more common than oliver..I''ve never known or even met anyone named oliver :)

Blen, I like the way George sounds with the middle name better.

NYC, my doc said that the pressure/achyness is probably just normal pregnancy stuff. She asked if I''ve been having cramping or bleeding and I told her that I had some cramping a week or 2 ago, but no bleeding and she didn''t seem concerned.

I''m so exhausted today from having DH''s friends over on Saturday (I''m still pissed that they didn''t leave until after 11. They were invited to get there at noon.) and then the Superbowl yesterday. When I went in to give my urine sample I sat down on the toilet, started to fall asleep, thought "wait, I''m supposed to be doing something... oh yeah, peeing," then realized that I needed to pee in a cup, not just the toilet. I need a nap.

Robbie- thanks for the info, I will let u know what my doc says on wed ;)
so sorry u had a rough weekend
7.gif
I hate when company overstays their visit and u really can''t do anything about it. Ppl just don''t have sense sometimes ...that''s y I rather go to someone''s than have them come to me lol. Take some time to relax! I hate peeing in those cups with a passion...its soooo uncomfortable..I wish I could do it at home and just bring it in. Its like u don''t wanna sit on the toilet itself so gotta put paper towlels on it, roll up your sleeves and try to catch the pee in the cup as the paper towlels keep movin and slidin and try not to wet ur pants ...LOL its such a task for me.

Another difficult situation right now is laying/sleeping....turning from my back to the sides is torture...uncomfy and painful..when I finally turn I feel like all my organs are squishing and it takes a while for the feeling to go away. I guess this is the beginning of the uncomfy stages of preggo.

Court-I like George too.
Robbie-Sorry you had such a busy weekend
14.gif
Hope you get some time to relax!
NYC-I can't even imagine how you must be feeling carrying twins and trying to sleep comfortably. Do you have a body pillow?

My butt hurts. Well not my butt as much as my tail bone. I was in a lot of pain yesterday and just spent my time in bed reading a book and taking naps. FI had people over for the game. Luckily it was all just men so that I could sneak away and hide in the room for a few hours. It was pretty funny hearing them trash talk from the bedroom, not so much when I tried to take a nap LOL. One of the guys lost $150
6.gif
. I'm glad FI is not a gambler otherwise he probably would have had to leave with everyone else that evening
2.gif

Oh!!! And I bought my very first pair of maternity jeans yesterday. Why didn't you girls tell me how comfortable it is to wear pants with no zippers and buttons???? I may never go back to regular pants again. I need to find good work pants though. I didn't find anything at Motherhood so it's still the bella band for me.

Thanks fiery and nyc. One of the wives is also pregnant and I could tell that she was getting annoyed too.

Fiery, my tailbone has been killing me for the past week or so! The doc suggested I try a donut pillow. I''m not looking forward to buying it. How embarrassing! In addition to my tailbone, pretty much my entire pelvis as well as those little knobby bones right above my butt are super sore. I think I''m starting to waddle already. I got my work pants at Target, Old Navy and Burlington. My favorites are cotton twill pants from Burlington, but they shrunk so I think I need to go by the next size up (I''m sure they shrunk since they''re shorter now, lol).

Hey everyone!

Courtney - Love the 3D u/s!!! She's so cute...love the yawning pic and the dimple shot! So adorable!

Blen - I like George better, especially w/ middle name Everett

Robbie - I say enjoy looking preggo! I'm almost 21 weeks and still don't 'look' preggo. My friends and co-workers can see my little belly because they know what I used to look like, but no way a stranger would think i'm pregnant. It sucks! I want to look pregnant already!!! But I am certainly putting on the pounds, so don't worry. I'm up 20 lbs as of last week
39.gif
Most of which are on my a** and thighs...blah!!!!! And I think you may be right on the team blue thing! I see something there!!! And you look GREAT btw!!!

i can't wait until Friday for our big u/s!!!! I just want confirmation of boy
9.gif
I'm so convinced it's a boy, i'll be in total shock if they say girl....so exciting!! I also just want to see our baby! I want to see what he/she looks like.

20w4d!!

I just realized I got Blen and Courtney mixed up LOL. I started thinking to myself, why does Courtney want to know about a boy''s name if she''s having a girl?? So I had to re-read.

It''s the preggo brain. That''s my story and I''m sticking to it.

That''s a long time to have company, Robbie! We had our annual Super Bowl party last night and had about 40 friends show up. I was so exhausted by 7:30 and it felt like 10pm to me! Luckily everyone left right when the game ended at 10.

I''ve been having a hard time getting around lately. Getting ready for the party was a challenge and I kept having to take breaks and I actually took a nap both on Saturday and Sunday. I''m usually not a nap person, so that was telling me something.

Pandora, physical therapy was hard on me. I was in some pain later that night and I hear that''s normal? I''ve been keeping up with the stretches she taught me, but I don''t like how they make me feel afterwards. I really wish I could lay down most of the day. When is your appointment again?

Fiery- I could''ve wrote ur post myself about the maternity jeans! I feel the same exact way and was thinking the other day that I will never go back to regular jeans again LOL! I even told other ladies when we were at dinner " ugh I feel so bad for u all who have regular pants right now lol!" where have they been all my life!...im plus size and the 1x jeans with the secret fit band from Motherhood...are amazing! I got 3 pairs and im lovin them sooo much!

Blen- I guess im all alone with Oliver lol...I still like it :) (maybe im bias bc there are just too many Georges around)

Hi Friends!! Sounds like everyone had good/tiring weekends (lol)

CDT - Good luck this friday at your u/s!
Mrs - you''ve been very productive! Good for you for finding your Ped and Childcare. Those are two of the hardest things ;)
Courtney - LOVE your 3Ds! The dimples kill me (I have them too) and the yawn is so precious. Lucky Momma!
Robbie - you''re looking GORGEOUS! Glowing and lovely! YEY! I think I see a willy there too - omg - perhaps its BOY for you!!!! Are you going to find out for sure?????
Also, you''re pee story (falling asleep) cracked me up, as did NYC''s follow-up story of her peeing process. You girls are funny ;p
blen - I like George Everett (together) better than Oliver Everett. My Dad''s name is George, so maybe I''m partial...but I feel like Oliver is growing in popularity as it''s on all my girlfriends'' babyname lists. George has that ''old-guy'' chic quality that I like. George gets my vote!

I too have the back pains in my lower knobby bits above my tailbone. Urgh. I HAVE to get to the yoga studio before I''m a cripp. I keep saying it and not doing it. MUST.START.NOW!!!

***

I registered (YEY!) and picked out the baby nursery scheme. Its a departure from the icy-blues I thought I''d go with...and a return to the enchanted lagoon I''d originally dreamed up. All inspired by an Ikea "Fabler" toy I''d bought (bottom right corner of the pic):

- butter yellow walls
- green and cream toile-eque drapes
- Lotus flower crib bumper
- polka dot crib skirt
- Green change table (to be painted)
- Purple and green accessories

Ok, I need some help. I have a whole 3 months to go and I''m already considering cutting back my hours. I cannot sit at work for more than 2-3 hours without my back hurting and then the whole rest of the day is hell. If I cut back to part time hours, this will likely cut into my disability time that I''m saving up for after the baby. I do not want to do that. I also don''t see how it''s possible to work from home. I could maybe do 1 to 2 hours works at home, but not much. Everything else needs to be done from the office. I guess I''m just venting and I''m not sure how to handle this. I have my OB appointment on Friday and will discuss with her also.

Courtney, have you tried other sitting methods? I find that sitting up on an excercise ball forces me to sit up straight and doesn''t hurt my back as much...

Mela LOVE IT!! So gorgeous.

My shower was fun, now I actually have to work so I will update later.

Courtney - not really sure...but talk to your OB. See if you can come up with some other strategies first, like DD''s exercise ball idea, or maybe lunchtime massage or yoga classes...and if you''re still suffering, then...well...something will have to give.

My feeling in general is that your health and the baby''s health comes FIRST. If you can afford to go part-time and it will give you some relief, then go for it.

How long is your Mat leave?

Lurker crashing to say I love your color scheme, Mela! We are about to paint our guest room/future baby room almost that exact color...we chose Ben Moore''s HC-18, it''s a kind of mellow gold, which I hoped would be a good backdrop for cheery, bright accessories. I love what you''ve got going on. (And thanks for your kind words on the TTC thread!)

We can afford for me to cut back on my hours, way back if needed. My work doesn''t have a maternity policy. We have short term disability that pays out a percentage of your pay depending on how long you''ve been with the company. I''ve been here 2 years, so I will get 70% pay for 8 weeks. My plan is as follows:

2 week waiting period before disability pay kicks in. I will exhaust my personal time here.
8 weeks paid at 70%
2 weeks vacation

As for other things I''ve tried, I swim a couple of times a week during lunch. That doesn''t help. I stretch and walk around so that I''m not sitting for long periods of time.

I called DH crying earlier because I''m so frustrated. The next thing to try will be a pillow behind my back and a massager that fits on the chair.

Festy - YAH on the Benjy Moore's HC-18! Good choice.

Ours is HC-24 "pittsfield Buff". Love it!

ETA: Courtney - good thinking on the back support. I got an Obus form here at work and it's a huge help for my back.
I feel for you

. Back pain is no fun....

Perhaps our resident 'specialist' Pandora and can help with some suggestions!? I'm not much help really...

I am finding later in my pregnancy that back supports are simply not enough. I get pain in my back if I try to use a chair back at all to support me... somehow it just isn't cutting it to keep my body at the right angle. That's why I suggested the excercise ball or another backless chair. I find using my own muscles to sit up very very straight keeps my back feeling good. It also keeps baby from getting lodged up under my ribcage and from squishing my bladder and bowels because it pushes my stomach outwards when I arch my back. Anyways, thought I'd share that... my point is that now I don't sit with my back touching anything at all and use my own muscles to keep upright.
