Thanks again everyone....ugh what a disaster once again!
I fasted since last nite for this test then she gave me the whole bottle to drink..it was orange soda and cold this time as opposed to cola and warm..but it was a whole bottle not just 3/4 of a cup!....I sipped and sipped through the agony and apparently u have to take the blood every hour for 3 hrs! I thought just once at the end of 3 hrs...so in the meantime I saw ob and everything is still the same...she wants me to start the NST's in a week and repeat the fetal echo and mri...so im sitting with secretary and making all appointments and all of a sudden everything turns black, I can't hear, sweating, ears clogged...I was about to blackout!...nurse rushed me to a room to lay down with cold compresses and I came to about 10 mins later....so I stayed in that position for the next hr or so....what an awful experience..feel so helpless knowing im about to pass out and there's nothing to do about it. Anyway going to rest and be back later.
NYC that is a common response to the glucose test, as is vomiting... though I am sorry to say that it is probably an indicator that your body is not processing the sugars very well! Did they still take the blood or will you have to re-do the test?

Dreamer, nope, no middies by me
8.gif
. Only downtown. I''m technically supposed to use sick time for doctors appointments, but my boss hasn''t been making me. I have a feeling if it starts taking me twice as long for each appointment (my understanding is that middie appointments are longer and the middies are twice as far from work as well) he might start. If I didn''t have any sick time or vacation time it would be covered under FMLA. While using sick time wouldn''t shorten my maternity leave, it would shorten the amount of time that I''m paid while I''m on leave. I''m only going to be receiving 100% of my pay for the time that I use my sick and vacation days (3 weeks if I don''t have to touch them beforehand). After that short term disability will kick in and I''ll get 80% of my pay for 6 or 8 weeks (6 for a vaginal birth, 8 for a c-section). So, if things go as planned with the birth and I have all of my vacation and sick days to use, I''ll still have 3 weeks where I''m not paid at all if I take the full 12 weeks. I feel like spending that time with the baby is so important and if it comes down to having that time, but having to stand up for ourselves during labor and delivery, that''s what we''ll have to do. I''d rather do that than miss out on time with my little one. I know we could save up $ to cover my unpaid time, but with things at work being kind of shaky, there''s no guarantee of how long my position will be there and it makes me uncomfortable to spend any more than we have to.

That all sounds reasonable.... but how terrible that you have to make that choice, parental leave policies in the US are barbaric IMHO

I think having a doula would be a really great asset in that case, and worth the money if you choose someone carefully whom you love and trust!

DD- yeh they still did the test...and I agree that it may be a bad sign meaning fail but I hope I don''t fail by much..wouldn''t want to be on insulin! I will alter my diet as long as I don''t need shots...I really don''t eat sweets at all except for juice but that doesn''t really matter...I say that drink alone can make anyone diabetic! Pure glucose/...ugh!

Awe, NYC, so sorry you had another bad hospital experience!

I haven''t done my research yet, but does anyone have any tips on things that are easier to cut out of/include in your diet to ward off gd? I''m definitely worried about this (I''m overweight for my height, and diabetes definitely runs on both sides of my family), but I JUST finally stopped being so nauseous, so I haven''t really been watching what I''m eating so far. I''m still having a lot of food aversions, so any tips on little things I can do would be appreciated! DD, you posted some great info., and luckily the only factor that I think I have is being overweight (oh, and maybe the fact that my brother was almost 11 lbs when he was born), but I''m still worried.

Dreamer, I''m still very hopeful for you that you won''t have to be induced! It sounds like you Canadians have a lot more leeway with stuff like doctor''s appts. I didn''t even look into/consider a doula or a midwife because there aren''t ANY in my area.

Sabine look up the American Diabetes Association and check out the diabetic diet... basically the goal is to keep your blood sugar stable so you eat every 3 hours and avoid simple sugars (like sugar, while flour and some other things). You can also look up the glycemic index of foods and stick with low GI foods... GI is an indication of how quickly a food becomes sugar in your blood. Food combining works too. So always combine a carb with a protein and increase fibre. These things all help. Easier said than done, of course.

Hi Everyone! Hope you are all feeling good today. Im sorry that it took so long for me to get this up...but it was a busy day yesterday, and I had work today. I must say that yesterday was the most AMAZING thing EVER! This lil peanut was jumoin up and down, kickin, flippin, punchin...YOU NAME IT! It wouldn''t sit still! All I can say is im glad I cant feel this lil one yet! cuz its prolly gunna kick the hell outta me! lol. Hope you all enjoy! Due date is Sept 15th

Hi guys. Hope everyone is doing well.

I''ll be 5 weeks tomorrow.

DH is upping our life insurance, so we''ve got a nurse coming tomorrow to take urine and blood. Now I can''t remember if she said we''re not supposed to eat and drink or just not eat beforehand. Anyway, she did say that I''m exempt from that, so hopefully DH will figure it out. Since this is for insurance and not a doctor''s order, I am not going to fast when I am a hungry, hungry hippo.

I have a secret fear that my life insurance blood test will say I''m not pregnant anymore. I know that''s crazy, especially because I have a lot of symptoms. But it''s kind of a tease waiting so long without going to the doctor. My brother and his wife had to go to a fertility specialist, so when I told him I was pregnant he said, "Oh, so you''ve been to the doctor?" I said, no, my period was late so I took a test. He forgot that not everyone has a doctor involved this early.

I''m really, really hungry. At times I''ve had sore nipples, nausea, and an odd sensation in my uterus. I get really, really tired around 8:30 p.m. And my period is almost a week late. And the test went, "flash, flash, flash, PREGNANT." OBVIOUSLY I''m pregnant. So why do I worry?

When I read your posts, I confess, I''m confused! I don''t know what a lot of things are! But I am following better than the TTC thread (I never knew what all those acronyms meant -- I think I would have posted more if I could have figured out what everyone was talking about!) I''m sure I''ll figure all this out as I go along.

Hi Phoenix! Funny, I just tried to login to respond to your post, but I tried to log in as "Phoenixgirl".
3.gif

What you feel is totally normal. Everyday I woke up and was convinced that I wasn''t pregnant "anymore". I didn''t even have the symptoms you are having until week 6 so I really was worried. Your first doctor''s appointment will make you feel better- when is it? Just know that if you had a positive test, then you are pregnant. If something is wrong or not "sticking", I am pretty sure you will have some signs of that- like cramping or bleeding. So try to relax. Plus all of your symptoms are clearly preggo symptoms!!!!

Of course, even after my first doctor''s appointment, I was convinced everytime that I went in that they wouldn''t find a heartbeat. It''s just part of the crazy rollercoaster that is being preggo, especially in the first trimester. It does get better.

People are in different stages here, so sometimes those much further along will discuss stuff that is a bit over my head. Once you start reading/posting, you''ll see that the same stuff comes up for everyone and you will quickly catch on. If not, just ask!

When is your first doctor''s appointment?

Sapphire- Yay for your first appointment! Our little wiggle-worm is crazy active too, and I''m a bit afraid of what I''m in for once I start feeling it. So fun to see them flipping about in there.

NYC- Girl, you are going through it all with this pregnancy, aren''t you? So sorry you had another dramatic doctor''s appointment. Hope they figure out what''s wrong with you soon. You''re in my thoughts!

Robbie- My work environment is a bit sketchy right now as well. We''ve had lay-offs and so far I''m safe but who''s to say. I agree, I am so afraid of having to look for a job when 7 or 8 months pregnant- not in my field. However, I feel a bit zen about it all- this baby is more important and it will be tough, but I will figure something out if and when that happens. We are also looking for a house, which really adds to the stress. I don''t want to count on my salary, but we pretty much have to. Sorry about the mid-man.

RE: glucose tests: When do you generally get these done? I totally forgot about that part. I am not a huge sweets person, but definitely am eating more chocolate than I used to. Hmmmm.

P.S. I had to school DH in how to respond to my comments about my physical symptoms yesterday. Every time I said, "I''m really hungry," or "I''m so tired!" he said, "Yeah, I''m really hungry/tired too." At first I jokingly called him "the pregnant man," hoping he would figure out that it didn''t make sense for him to be constantly tired and hungry when he''s not the pregnant one. But then after the fifth or sixth, "yeah, I''M so tired/hungry," I couldn''t take it any more. I know men have sympathy symptoms, but it made me feel like he wasn''t validating my feelings, like when he heard my comments he was thinking, "Yeah, whatever, if you only knew how I felt." In true DH fashion (he''s a lovable dufus sometimes, and I''m realizing that when he misses the boat I just need to explain why patiently instead of thinking that he is trying to hurt me, because he''s not) he''s been overly sympathetic and inquisitive since then. I know we''ll both go through a lot these next 8 months. :)

I still don''t have my dr''s appt. I''ve sent out two emails asking for ob/gyn recommendations (I don''t have too many close friends with kids so I don''t have anyone I can call). I''ll feel a lot better when I have it set!

can someone PLEASE tell me how to highlight!??? I click it then i just get a 4 pointed arrow but it doesnt do anything

Minus the nausea, that's exaclty how I felt in those early weeks. Although the nips weren't as sore but tender enough. At that time I would go home at 6PM and fall asleep until 9, wake up to stuff my face, fall back asleep by 10 and then up at 4:30AM to have a bowl of cereal!! Glad that's over.

I also had some weird cramping. It wasn't period like cramping but I just felt so uncomfortable for a few weeks. I couldn't even sleep on my side and kept having to run to my book to make sure the baby was still the size of a bean...judging from my level of discomfort, I would have though it was much bigger!

You'll worry all the time. I went 18 weeks with no flutters or kicks and worried. Then I get the kicks and now I get worried when I haven't felt it for a while even though I should feel lucky I can even feel anything this early. The worry never goes away!

RE: glucose tests: When do you generally get these done? I totally forgot about that part. I am not a huge sweets person, but definitely am eating more chocolate than I used to. Hmmmm.
Usually around 28 to 30 weeks. It''s important to remember that GD isn''t about eating too much sugar. All foods we eat get processed and enter our blood streams as glucose (sugar), and then our bodies have to process that sugar. When we have GD, the body just isn''t as good at processing sugars, so sometimes the levels can get too high in the blood stream. Actually, almost all preggos have some sort of inhbited blood sugar processing, it is a normal part of pregnancy, so what they are looking for is more extreme variation. Some foods enter the blood stream as sugar faster than others... like sugar
3.gif
So when you have GD you want to eat a diet of foods that keeps the blood sugars stable and relatively low, without spikes. But some foods that might surprise you will make you have high blood sugar: potatoes, corn chips, white rice... so it isn''t only about sugar.

Fiery - that''s hilarious. Men!

Robbie, I''m sorry about your sucky day. It might be worth interviewing the other midwife group before deciding that it''s not worth switching hospitals - I feel like one of the most important factors in having a good birth experience is to find practitioners who share your philosophy about things. And about the doula - if you were to lose your job, I know that many doulas (and midwifes) work on a sliding scale. Although $500 sounds pretty reasonable for a doula - I think that they''re usually more like $6-800 in my area. Not sure if they can count for tax deductions though.

I''m feeling pretty lucky about my midwife after reading everyone else''s accounts - I haven''t had to miss a minute of work to see her yet and it doesn''t look like I''m going to (unless I''m at work when I go into labor
3.gif
). The OB, on the other hand, is a different matter. My midwife appointments generally take about an hour and a half, but I feel that this is kind of because I like to talk and always have a million questions. And sometimes we''ll start comparing bread recipes and get off topic. They really don''t need to be that long, but I do like developing a relationship with her so it''s not like I have a semi-stranger in the room with me while I''m birthing.

I''m only taking more than 6 weeks off if hubby gets a job before then.
40.gif
At least one of us will be home with the baby when it''s really young, and I know that dads are used to going back to work much earlier than that and leaving baby with mom.

NYC- I''m sorry about your bad experience. I hope everything''s ok.

Sapphire - cute!! I''m glad that your little bean was so active.

Phoenix - it can be hard to follow at times, but at the same time when I was in the hospital earlier on I felt so knowledgable about the stuff they were talking about because NF and Snlee and others were dealing with some of the same tests earlier. And it gets better, I promise! Your feelings are completely normal - I think that we''ve all been there.

China - I think the glucose testing is typically 26-30 weeks or so, unless they have a reason to do it at a different time. (History of GD, etc.)

----

I''m now thinking of reading up on the GD diet tonight too. DD''s convinced me. But would I have to give up my beloved hot chocolate with whipped cream?

Aaaand on the girl name front, I dunno what I want anymore. Can I get thoughts on:
Mary Augusta
Virginia ______ (nn Ginny)
Beatrice ______ (nn Bea)
Middle names for the latter two are up in the air, but could include Ruth, Louise, Mary (for Beatrice only - as I mentioned before, Virginia Mary is a no go), Walker (family name), or Lyell (family name), or something else entirely. Augusta would create bad initials and is out.
How do people ever decide on a name?

Blen, I think you''ve got a winner with Mary Augusta. I also love Virginia Louise.

Thanks for your input, Ebree! I think I''m second guessing it because I can tell that neither of my parents like Mary, I''m pretty sure that my mom has already decided to use the nickname Molly, and my in-laws have suggested the nickname Maggie (but say that they like Mary), and I don''t want the poor baby to be confused about its name before it''s even a month old. Yeah, yeah, the baby won''t understand us anyway, but it would bother me if everyone takes it upon themself to call the baby something different. I''m absolutely fine with baby choosing its own nicknames when it''s old enough to. It may just be time to be mama bear and lay down the law in the meantime.

Blen, I think you should go with whichever first name really floats your boat. The first name is so much more important that you should go with that instinct rather than trying to go with the best sounding combination of first/middle. A middle that doesn't make for Virgin Mary or bad initials is fine - pick a non-girly family name if you can't find something else you love. Nothing wrong with those.

So... do you love first name Mary? Do you want that as your daughter's name?

If your answer is absolutely, then Mary Augusta it is! Rolls well, beautiful name. Try not to let your pesky grands morph it into some random other M-name though. How annoying! My aunt refuses to call her grandson by his given name that she doesn't like and it is just petty.

Of your firsts, I like Virgina best, probably 'cause I like names a little different, but also cause I like Ginny as a nickname. So me personally would go with Virgina ______. Ebree's suggestion of Virginia Louise is nice, or maybe one of Walker or Lyell would work depending on your last name. Or Virginia Willow? Willow is a little out of your aesthetic, but I thought of it as a shorter Wilhemia. I also like Augusta as a first, but it is more unusual. Knew a girl that went by the short-form Gusti, also unusual but strong name!

Hi galzies.

Don''t know where to start!!

NYC - gak. hang in there. Between the nosebleeds and the blackouts, I''m feeling for you.

Sapphire - congrats on the u/s pic of your cute lickle jellybean! Let the fun begin!

Pheonix - I had simmilar things with DH at the beginning when I would ''complain'' and he would unknowingly "top" it...not getting that mine was pregnancy related. D''oi. He got much better once I started showing (a lot) and was reminded by using his VISION that I was hungry/tired/cranky etc because I was preggo. Men are so visual. It''ll get better. As will the first tri symptoms. I suffered m/s nausea for 16 weeks. Then it just vanished. Pregnancy is nuts.

DD (and NYC) - My girlfriend at work has similar issues as you. Big baby, measuring ahead. I''m curious to see what her OB has to say (I''ll find out tomorrow) as to a plan of action for her. She may have GD (also find out tomorrow) so that may play a part in her outcome. I''m curious because it seems that these combination of things are going around in our world here - combined with the fluid levels. It''s just interesting to me to see different treatment approaches.

Blenner - the name thing. OH THE NAMES.
5.gif
Sing it sister! I personally agree with Cara - do what you dig lady. It is rather annoying that your family is already plotting name changes. Jeez. Like, it''s not even outta your womb yet and their renaming it. What gives. Sometimes people end up with nicknames that are not even remotely close to their names...so YAH...they can just WAIT on the ''knicknaming''. You can tell them I said that.
11.gif
To answer your question - I love love love Augusta. I like Virginia as well (ginny) and I love Beatrice (my cabbage patch kid growing up). Ultimately, you need to go with your gut. Do what I do: imagine you are at the DMV renewing your license. Your kid runs off and you have to YELL it''s name across the room to ''git back here or else....'' How do you feel YELLING that name across the room? Honestly, try it out at home (yell it across the room). Try them all out. I swear - I do this and it helps me. Some names just FEEL better.
33.gif

Robbie - Ditto what DD said about the US laws sucking the bag. I''m really sorry that you''re having such anxiet-o over work/hours/security/mat leave. It all just sucks. Firstly, the fact that you feel "bad" about taking much needed time to see your healthcare practitioner. Second, that your mat leave is so short and based on so many factors. Blech. So not fair considering you''re doing the MOST important thing you''ll ever do...be someone''s MOM!
6.gif
Hang tough my friend. As for the midwife. Obviously I love a good middie -but don''t beat yourself up if you can''t get one (at this stage of the game). Most middies have to be booked right away - and judging by your work availability and commute time, you have to factor in the added stress it would cause to you and baby to GET to said Middie. Is it worth it? Would a doula be a good compromise? All things to weigh in and out.

who else?
11.gif

I know I''m missing tons of peeps but I can''t "see" on the previous page now that I''m typing away. Alas.

Courtney - I hope you''re feeling better. I know dem blues you''ve got. Try to get some sun (in Feb. HAH) or VitD it does help
2.gif

I''m off to my middie tomorrow for a checkup! I think she''s going to palpatate me (or whatever its called) to see what position the babe is in. Can''t WAIT!

Phoenix- correct me if I''m wrong, but aren''t you in the Northern VA/DC area? I ask because I adore my OB/GYN and they have two offices, Herndon and Arlington. They only deliver at Virginia Hospital Center though. Let me know and I can e-mail the admin to see if they can forward you my e-mail with my dr.''s name and number :)

Hello everyone! I apologize in advance, because this is going to be INSANELY LONG! I''ve got a lot of delurking to do here!

Hope all is well. I''m still around, lurking like a crazy stalker, but I''m here.

I had my CVS test yesterday. They were unable to go through my cervix, so it was a needle in the belly for me! All things considered, it was probably for the best, as that way has a much lower chance of issues with bleeding! And luckily, *knock on wood* it seemed to have held true. It wasn''t particularly painful, but when they went through my UTE it felt like an electric shock! And on the plus side, it means that my placenta is crazy high - so no worries with placenta previa.

The fun part was that we got to see the kid for LONG time! It was jumping and moving and it was crazy! We got a pic from the U/S where its got its hand on its chin - new nickname is the thinker! And, the best news of all - we got a super informal NT scan - which is pretty common practice with CVS tests at my hospital - and the US tech said the neck fold was "very very thin." So yay! No other signs of any problems, so we are happy! Anxiety has gotten better. It seems to get better as I get further along. We''ll get the results of the test in 10-14 days - and if everything is copacetic we''ll officially go public!

DD - I''m sorry you are having to go through all this craptastic-ness sooo close to your LO getting here. But really and truly - the important thing is that you''ll have him/her in your arms when all is said and done! And interesting about the GD issues. I''m a big girl as well - but at this point, I''ve been pretty lucky and I''m actually down about 10 lbs since I found out I was prego. Oh, and as for the job thing - I''ve decided temp work is the way to go. There is no way I know what I''m going to want to do when the kid comes in terms of work. Luckily, we can live on DH''s salary - not live like kings mind you, but pay our bills and continue to save a bit - so temping is the way to go. However, I *still* haven''t gotten hooked up with a temp project? They keep pushing back the start dates. ARGH. Oh hey- I do have a question for you - which meds did your anxious prego friends take? Although the anxiety has gotten better, I still have some rough days and I''d love any information you have. Of course, I''ll talk to my doc and the genetics dept - but any anecdotal information would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and your belly shot is adorable! You look great!

Mela - Sorry you are going through a crappy time. That stinks. But I think it is totally common. It is so funny how we hear all about how amazing pregnancy is...and I must say that so far I am not loving it! I can''t imagine how I''ll feel in more weeks!

MRS - Hope all is well and that the baby turns soon!

Fiery - Congrats on almost 20 weeks! Woot!

SC - Nice u/s!

Blen - I LOVE Mary Augusta. Not a huge fan of Beatrice - for absolutely no good reason. But I really like Mary Augusta!

Pandora - Good luck with all things related to your employment situation. I''m glad to see that they seem to be hanging themselves with their own rope! Also, adorable high chair! LOVE it!

NYC - I''m so sorry about the GD test. UGH. I hope you get to feeling better STAT!!

Robbie - That stinks about your job. Just stinks. But I will try to point out the positive side - if you are laid off, you''d get at least six months of unemployment benefits. Which would be up to 60% of your current income. And it would be quality time with the your baby. Not that that makes things any easier, but maybe a bit of a silver lining.

Sabine - That is tough about your mom and DH. I''m sort of the opinion that the first couple weeks are all about survival...and if having your mom there helps, I''d go for it. There''s tons of time for bonding!

Natalina & Phoenix Gal - Hope you ladies are doing well! The early time is tough - at least it was for me. I''ve found that as I''ve gotten a *bit* further on, I''m feeling better!

Phoenix - I''d call and ask your regular doctor for a recommendation for an OB. That''s where I found mine - and I found it to be trial and error. My doc gave me two recommendations - one wasn''t a good fit, the second was. And they can definitely see you pretty quickly.

Courtney - adorable belly pic...not a stretchie in sight!

CC - Hey girl! I''m still here! I swear! I''m sorry your work sitch is less than ideal. I know layoffs are just about everywhere in the legal world today. And I know this may cold comfort, but there are a lot of opportunities for temp and contract work out there. The nicest thing about being a lawyer is that we can always find some sort of work, you know? And see my point to Robbie about unemployment. Just a thought.

Alright, I''ve written a freaking book here!

I''m sorry if I''ve missed anyone!

Just to be clear, I don''t actually have GD and the plan of action when a woman has GD is very different than the plan of action if she does not. When well-controlled, though, GD actually changes nothing. It is only when it is not well controlled that things change, usually meaning early induction from what I have read... no, more than likely our baby is just big and pees a lot! LOL! If my fluids are down we will wait and see what happens. I go for the u/s tmorrow, here''s hoping! I don''t feel any bigger, and I feel like if my fluids were going up my belly would feel a lot bigger since baby would also be bigger. If anything, I feel a little more room in the belly this week. But who the heck knows!

Okay, funny/pathetic pregnancy story here, just to lighten the mood!

As most of you know, I have been suffering from evil crotch pain for about 5 weeks. It has been bad enough that I have not been able to walk for more than about 5 minutes at a time without being in excruciating pain. Many days, I couldn''t even walk to the bathroom or kitchen! Or roll over in bed! This weekend was the worst ever...

Then monday *poof* if was gone! No pain at all! I was like my old self again! (turns out baby has gone behind my pelvic bone finally, and isn''t bobbing against my pubic bone anymore). So DH and I took advantage of this and went for a long walk with the dogs... Long as in, like, 30 minutes! It felt great to be able to actually move again!

Well the next morning I woke up and felt like I had done 150 lunges and 150 squats! Yes ladies, it is official. I weigh so much and have been so inactive that WALKING is enough to give me a cardio workout AND a great leg workout

Pathetic.

Just thought I''d share so you know what you have to look forward to in a few months or weeks!

DD- im crossin fingers n toes for u! I hope its just a thing and fluid will normalize itself ;)
Talk about inactive!...how about bedrest ..just walkin to bathroom is a whole-to-do for me..its really the getting up outta bed for me that''s hard...I like to have smthg to grab on to (dh is almost cryin for his hand already lol)...my outings consist of doc visits (to and from car) so that walk u had seems soooo sweet to me now ;)

LL-so happy for u...dontcha just love those long u/s''s?!...the NT scan was the best ..now they go pretty fast

Mela- thanks for the wishes!

So nurse just called...passed the 3 hrs!!!woohooo!...didn''t ask my score bc she woke me up and I wasn''t all there lol...all the bloods seem to b getting better..now just prayin the mri and fetal echo will be great!

Nyc - That''s great that you passed the test!

Well, I''m not doing much better. Back pain is getting worse. I have an appointment with the orthopedic doc tomorrow at 9am, so we''ll see what he says. I have my 30 week OB appointment this afternoon. Finally in the 30''s!! I know I''m almost there, but it still seems like a long ways away.

Pandora, I feel like my back is splitting apart. I know that my ribcage is expanding, but this much? It''s absolutely killing me. How are you feeling?

Dreamer, the laws in the US do suck. I should''ve moved to Canada like I said I would if Bush got elected to a 2nd term, except then I never would''ve met DH, so I guess meeting him made it worth it, lol. I think I forgot to comment on your belly pic, either that or I did and I just can''t remember. Either way, you look great! If I saw you I don''t think that I would guess that you could pop any day now. I really hope I don''t end up having GD because I would hate to give up any of the things that you listed, lol.

Sapphire, what a cute u/s pic! That''s so fun that you got to see baby moving all over the place. Baby wasn''t moving yet at our 8 week u/s and he/she was just really sleepy/super lazy at our 18 week one so we''ve yet to see baby do anything more than scratch his or her ear, lol.

Phoenix, I think we all had those fears at the beginning. They fade gradually as time goes on though.

China, sorry to hear that you''re having some of the same job issues that I am. Baby is definitely the most important thing and DH keeps reminding me that no matter what happens we''ll have each other and the baby and everything else is just stuff and doesn''t really matter. I have a hard time seeing the big picture like that sometimes. I was the girl who would freak out about getting a "bad" grade on a test in school even when it wouldn''t affect my final grade at all. We just bought a house last March, and while I love our house, I''m really wishing that we would''ve waited. We would''ve been fine to live on one salary in an apartment and even if we''d just bought later we would''ve at least gotten some of these awesome incentives they''re now offering. I could do so much with an interest free $7500 loan (or is it even more now?) and we missed out on it by less than 2 weeks.

Fiery, isn''t 20 weeks a scary thought? You''re almost halfway done! On Saturday I told DH that I could really be more than halfway done, or less, depending on when the baby actually comes. He was like, what''s the big deal about 20 weeks then? LOL.

Blen, I actually found out that the other group of middies delivers at a birth center and only goes to the hospital if there are complications. I definitely want to be in a hospital, so they''re definitely out. Perhaps I''ll be more comfy with the whole process the next time around, but this time I just want to be as close as possible to help if something goes wrong. I hope your DH finds a job soon so you can take more than 6 weeks off with your little one. At least the worst case scenario has one of you with baby though. I really like Mary Augusta and Virginia. I agree that you should pick whichever name you want though. I definitely understand about family pressure though. My mom will throw a hissy fit if we have a girl and she doesn''t have a name that starts with an L for my grandmother Lenore (first or middle would be fine with her, but it''s tradition on DH''s side to give girls his mom''s name as a middle name) or a boy who''s name starts with a J for my grandfather Jack. I think it''s kind of hypocritical since it has to be for her parents and not my dad''s parents. Granted I really wasn''t close to his parents, but still. If we were to have 2 girls the 2nd would probably be named after my other grandmother, Claire, because I really like the name anyway. If we end up having a boy and naming him Desmond Jack and then we have a girl and name her Claire people will definitely think we''re Lost freaks, lol.

Yesterday I called an 800 number given to me by my insurance company to sign up for some free maternity service that they offer. Basically they''ll check in with me every so often and I''ll have access to a nurse to ask any questions I might have. They''re also sending me a free copy of Your Pregnancy Week by Week. I already have the book, but I''m still excited about getting a freebie, lol. I also found out that my insurance covers a breast pump, but not an electric. I''ll have to find out if they cover it at 100% because if they do I''ll probably just get it and sell it to help cover the cost of the electric one I''ll need. Part of the process of signing up for this program involved them asking me all kinds of questions about my pregnancy and my nutrition habits. One of the questions was how often I eat sweets. I answered less than once a week. Apparently I forgot about my daily chocolate milk and piece of milk chocolate. Oops. Oh well. Do you think they''ll take my book back if they find out I answered incorrectly? LOL. I can''t remember if I posted my new favorite smoothie recipe on here or not so I''m going to post it (again?). It really satisfied my craving for ice cream the other day:

Robbie3982''s Bananaberry Smoothie

Serves 4 (or 1 really hungry pregnant lady and her DH)

1/2 cup apple juice
1 cup plain yogurt
1.5 cups frozen mixed berries
1 cup ice cubes
1 banana cut into pieces
1/3 cup powdered milk (I added this to get some extra protein. Not necessary if you don''t care about extra protein)

Mix until well blended

When I plug it in to sparkpeople, it''s only 267 calories and 4 grams of fat for half of the recipe (and believe me, 1/2 is enough). Compare that to a 12 oz McDonald''s chocolate shake at 440 calories and 10 grams of fat.

When did everyone start getting stretch marks? I really thought they''d be here by now with how much growing my boobs and belly have already done, but I''ve got nada (well, nothing new anyway). I think my body is trying to psych me out. It''s plan is to stay stretch mark free until the day before I deliver when I''ll wake up and just be one giant stretch mark.

NYC, yay for passing your test!!!

Court, sorry you''re in so much pain

Robbie you are a better daughter than me... if family puts that type of pressure on me I do the OPPOSITE just to disuade them from trying that type of crap

hahahha! They will bust your door DOWN to get that book! I call it the "Bible O'' Fear" by the way... some useful stuff but it is basically a litany of everything that can go wrong!

I hope you don''t get them! I got one little one started around 24 weeks or so... now my lower belly below the belly button is basically covered. None come up past my belly button, so they won''t be too obvious, but yuck is all I can say.

Hey DD - Don''t mean to harass ya, but I don''t know if you saw my question for you in my earlier post - I''m not sure, but I''d like your input.

What anti-anxiety meds did your friends take while prego? How did they decide on those meds?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

So...you ladies got room in here for another?
