DD, sorry to hear you''ve Polyhydramnios as well! Did they tell you how much fluid you have? they usually measure in centimeters. My fluid has fluctuated a bit since they diagnosed me, I was at 24 cm 2 weeks ago, then 22 last week, and 24 again yesterday so I think it''s very possible for it to go down for you and I hope it does! Bummer that you wont be able to deliver at home though... I''ll be sending my best wishes your way this week in the hopes that the fluid goes down and your body starts getting ready on it''s own!!
The index they used was a little different, but I think it translated to 27, which they labelled as mild to moderate... typical levels are 7.8 to 24 at 38 weeks gestation. Don''t forget, it is normal for level to increase up until 37 weeks, so yours may change until that time. After that they typically go down, so we are hoping this natural decrease happens for me!
yeah, that''s about the same info they gave me which is why I was kinda bummed that they measured me at 24 the first time i went in since anything below 24 is fine. They were not overly concerned about it but their policy is to required monitoring twice a week for the rest of the pregnancy for anyone who measures 24 or above even if it goes down later. oh well.

I''m hoping that natural decrease happens for us both!

Lindsey, what a cutie!!! I can''t wait to see pics of her once she''s born.

Court, your belly is adorable! I can''t really see the lines you''re talking about. Perhaps it''s my screen or maybe they''re just not as noticeable as you think.

Fiery, the book helped a ton. I get overwhelmed easily when there are too many choices so I figured out what brand or model I wanted of the big things and then just picked between the available patterns/colors when I got there. I brought it with me when we registered and flipped through it when I couldn''t remember what I''d read or when there were things that looked cool that I''d never heard of. There are definitely disagreements between the book and the reviews on BRU.com though. The monitor we registered for (#2 pick in the book) and the #1 pick both got bad reviews on the site and the video monitors that got great reviews are not recommended in the book. Oh well. One thing that annoyed me was that it didn''t recommend specific crib models, just the brands. We originally registered for the babi italia pinehurst single dropside crib, but when I came home I read a bunch of bad reviews about the drop side so I changed it to the lifetime version that has no drop side. That''s so cool that you''re feeling so much kicking! The kicks I feel are pretty sporadic still and the ones that are hard enough to be felt on the outside are few and far between. DH still hasn''t felt any. That''s so exciting about your big u/s!

Thanks, Mrs! DH really liked the dress when I wore it out to dinner tonight. I just registered for the same pump. SIL came with us and she said she loved it. I got the one with the backpack. Which did you get? We registered for the snugrider too, but with the safeseat. Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but if she stays breach, does that mean a definite c-section or do they let you try to go vaginally?

Neat, too cute about your boys! They''re going to make 2 lucky ladies very happy one day.

Dreamer, so sorry to hear about the hydraminos and the change in plans.

I''m sending tons of fluid lowering vibes your way! I hope you get to have the natural birth you want, even if it is in a hospital. My Bradley instructor birthed a 12 pounder med-free. If she can do it, so can you!

Pandora, that is the coolest high chair! I''m jealous. I don''t think any of my stuff is that cool. Tell your sister that if she''s a 36 or 38 she''ll have a much easier time finding bras. It seems that plus size bras generally come in these band sizes and those seem to be much easier to find larger cup sizes in. My biggest issue is that I''m a 32 closed on the middle hook, so I''m guessing that even when/if my ribs expand, a 36/38 will probably still be too big meaning that I''ll still have issues. Blegh. Thanks for the pic compliments! I can''t believe how ridiculous your employers are! It''s like they''re trying to make themselves look like idiots.

Today has been the best Valentine''s Day ever! Registering went really well and was not painful at all. I was kind of worried since I hated registering for the wedding so much and I think we ended up bickering the whole time. I read the reviews on BRU for everything we registered for after the fact so I did have to do some switching up. The item that I''m most excited about is the swing (see pic below). It''s the Graco SnugGlider Infant Car Seat Swing Frame. I had no idea that something like this existed, but I love the idea that it''s small and portable and works with the infant carrier. After registering for this, the snugrider stroller and the Maclaren Volo, I''m starting think maybe we can actually get by without needing an SUV to go on vacation. It would be nice to hold out on buying a car until mine actually dies. That should give us a while (I hope my car can make it a while at least) with no car payments since we have none on mine currently and only 3 months left on DH''s.

After registering DH and I went to dinner at this really nice restaurant and it was DELICIOUS
18.gif
. A few minutes after sitting down a waiter brought over a box of chocolates and orchids and said that they were from DH! I thought he was just saying that and that they were really just giving them to everyone and I guess DH could tell that I didn''t really believe it since we''d come together and in my head there was no way they could actually be from him. Turns out they called to confirm our reservation and told him that this was a special Valentine''s Day option and he decided to do it. He was so romantic and gentlemanly tonight it was amazing! Don''t get me wrong, he''s always a sweetie pie, but he''s not one to open doors or take my coat and it was like he read a book on how to be a gentleman and did it all, lol. This is the kind of Valentine''s Day date I used to dream about when I was in high school. Seriously, best Valentines Day ever.

Robbie, mine''s the one with the metro bag. I think the difference between the backpack and metro bag is that the electric pump is attached to the backpack whereas with the metro back you can remove it. Click here for more info on that.

Indeed, if she stays breech they will schedule me for a c-section. I might be able to try to find a dr who would be willing to help me try to have a vbac despite the challenging presentation but it would probably be difficult and I''m not sure I''d be up for that anyway.... I know they''ll check her position right up to the end so if she''s flipped the day of the scheduled surgery they would probably let me go for the vbac. we''ll see!

I''m glad you had such a wonderful vday!! Yay for good husbands!

Hope everyone had wonderful Valentine''s days! Mine was very nice. We went to see Marley and Me in the afternoon and then went to a nice restaurant we had never been to before for dinner. Food was great, although during dh I realized that pregnant brain had struck on 2 major issues, so I came home quite upset. The first was that I had been freaking out about not knowing ANYONE where we''re moving to, so I practically begged my mom to come stay with us for the first week after giving birth. I realized last night that I had neglected to tell dh that though, so I told him, and he was a bit upset. He doesn''t mind if my mom comes to help, but he doesn''t want her to actually stay with us because he thinks it will get in the way of the 2 of us bonding with baby. He thinks it won''t be as special if she is there. I understand what he is saying, but at the same time, I''m a bit terrified. We came to a compromise to wait and see what happens, and if we don''t want her to stay with us, we will pay for her to stay in a hotel near by.

The other was much worse. A few weeks ago, one of Robbie''s friends who is helping plan her shower emailed me to run some dates by me since we are moving around the time of her shower, and it would be a 7.5 hour drive after we move and dh will be working so he won''t be able to drive me. I was so excited that her chosen date was before we moved that I told her it was fine with me, until dh reminded me last night that that is the date that he GRADUATES MED SCHOOL! I feel like such an idiot! The last time I talked to her friend, the date hadn''t been booked yet, but chances are it is now... I''m so upset! (Oh, I currently live 3.5 hours from where the shower would be, so if it''s the same day, I definitely won''t be able to go).

And finally, dh didn''t like the JJ Cole bedding! I think I will be able to work on him on this one, but boo. LIA, thanks so much for showing me your nursery, it is adorable! I LOVE the dresser!

Mrs, I''m hoping your fluid goes down and that baby turns!

Dreamer, so sorry you aren''t going to be able to have the home birth! I hope your fluid goes down too so that you can hang on to at least some of your birth plan!

Lindsey, Courtney, and Pandora, you guys are really getting there! Have you started getting yourselves prepared for the birth? Linds, so glad the rh factor isn''t affecting your lo!

NYC, so glad you aren''t in pain and are okay at home!

Fiery, you made me crave cake sooooo bad that I think I''m going to have to go out today and buy stuff to make one! I had a dream this morning about teaching a class to make a pie (which I have never done in my life!), so I definitely need some dessert!

I''m adding myself to the list, but I''m still trying to digest that I''m pregnant! We just found out this morning when I woke up for my 5:30 a.m. pee. I went off the pill in August and got my period pretty regularly after that. I may have had a chemical pregnancy two months ago when I had what seemed to be implantation bleeding and nausea/burping, but it went away a few days before my expected period, which came on time.

I was sick three weeks ago and was on antibiotics when we conceived (and DH had thrown his back out! Of course it happens now instead of all the months we had regular sex and I did all the right things). Then my allergies went into high gear, I''m thinking because my illness got my sinuses inflamed and I had stopped taking my Claritin because I thought it was drying up my CM. So I''ve been on sudafed and benadryl and claritin and mucinex and delsym (not all at the same time, obviously), but since I started feeling queasy last week I''ve weaned myself off of everything except the Claritin. But I can''t worry about all the meds, right? It was so early, and I did check the classifications of everything for pregnancy but it seemed like you shouldn''t be miserable before you even know if you''re pregnant. Thankfully things are a lot better than they were two weeks ago.

So anyway, I''m tired. I haven''t been working out ever since I got sick
7.gif
, although that may have actually helped me conceive. DH and I did go for a 6+ mile walk yesterday which involved a lot of hills and trails at a local park, and I''m going to see what I can manage today. I just want to maintain or be close to my usual level of activity as long as possible.

Oh, and I think I may have released two eggs . . . eek! The ovulation predictor said "peak" on Thursday Jan 29, and I felt pain on the left side that afternoon, so I wrote down that I had ovulated left. Then the next day at lunch I distinctly felt my right ovary getting busy. But instead of worrying about twins, I''m just going to assume that gave me twice as much luck conceiving.

I don''t even know what to do now! I don''t have an ob-gyn yet because I''m an idiot! I get my pap smears at my GP. I hope it''s not hard to become a new patient when you''re pregnant.
33.gif
I have been taking pre-natal vitamins ever since we began trying, a big 300 count bottle of CVS brand because the One a Days were so darn expensive and I wasn''t even pregnant. Should I invest in the One a Days now or just stick with my big CVS bottle?

OK, so it seems my due date is around October 22 or 23.

I know it''s so early, and I don''t want to get ahead of myself, but on the other hand, well, you know!

And I''ve been so emotional, which is unusual for me. And hungry. And the burping, my god, the burping! But at least so far the queasiness is very manageable. Even when I''ve been coughing so hard that I gag, I haven''t been throwing up (stomach of steel . . . last time I threw up was 6 years ago when I got food poisoned and still had to stick my toothbrush down my throat). But pregnancy is a new game so I know I need to expect the unexpected.

Oh, and for the last 12 hours I have had some pains in what I think is my uterus. Is that weird? It woke me up in the middle of the night (well, that and the fact that I was drenched in sweat), and I thought, "Am I getting my period after all?" but then I said, no, that''s not menstrual pain. It almost feels like indigestion but obviously not in my digestive system.

Congratulations and welcome Phoenix!!!

Your generic prenatals are probably fine. I've been taking target brand through my pregnancy.

Some cramping is normal early on as many of us experienced it. Try not to worry about it.

I didn't have an OB that I liked when I got pregnant and had no trouble switching. I asked friends with babies who they went to and found one that I like okay. I didn't tell the friends I was pregnant yet though.

Good luck! I'm sending you sticky vibrations!!

Sabine, sorry about your pregnancy brain foibles! I hope it all works out so that you can go to that shower!

Robbie - that sounds like a GREAT V day. That''s really sweet of your husband.

Sabine - we''re a ways from family, and I really keep going back and forth on how close I want them after the birth. I do want some time with just the three of us to bond, and I''m trying HARD to set boundaries now without getting anyone upset. It''s really hard. I''m not sure that everyone''s listening.
20.gif
The hotel option sounds like a really good idea - there were some couples in our childbirth class who decided after the first baby that that''s how it''s going to be for this baby. They recommended starting with the hotel and then inviting her to stay in your house only if you think you''re up for it. It''s easier to be stricter from the get go and go to less strict than it is the other way.

Phoenix - Congrats!!! I wouldn''t worry about the meds, because it was so early that it probably did not affect the baby at all. I''m glad to hear you''re starting to feel better.

I wouldn''t worry about dropping multiple eggs either. Even if you did release two, it''s most likely that only one got fertilized and implanted successfully. And if you are pregnant with twins, you can tackle that when you get there.

OBs - I think they''re used to taking on some patients after they get pregnant. I started with a new one around 18 weeks pregnant, although he''s working in more of a supporting role and (fingers crossed) won''t actually be attending the birth (I''m using a homebirth midwife). I''d just call more like, now, and not in a few months to make sure you can get in.
1.gif
They won''t see you until 8-10 weeks, but you''ll at least have a spot on their list.

Be nice to yourself if you feel that you just can''t do as much activity-wise, especially since you''re coming off of being sick. It''s great to stay active, but there were just a few weeks in which I felt like my body needed me to cut my activity in half and take extra naps. Once that passed, I was able to keep up my usual activity level.

Some uterine cramping is normal - there''s so much stuff going on in that area now - but I''m not sure if it should be enough to wake you up. If you have an OB in mind, it might be something to ask them about.

Is this your first baby? For some reason I thought that you already had kids, but I might just be confused.

Thanks for the congrats!

Blenheim, this is my first pregnancy. I know there''s a Phoenix, but I don''t think she has kids either. Hmmm???

I don''t think it was actually the cramps which woke me up but the excitement of knowing I would be taking the pregnancy test in the morning and the sweats. Pain isn''t the right word, it''s just something I''ve never felt before. Kind of a little tingle in the front of where I think my uterus is. I''m not worried for whatever reason. Not much I can do but wait and see.

I just did a Firm video (a cardio one with 5 lb. weights, not one of their intense ones with extra equipment) and feel really good. Instead of my usual schedule of alternating running and more intense Firm videos, I''m going to do walking and moderate intensity videos for the time being. I still don''t think I could run because breathing that hard would kick in my coughing.

PhoenixGirl - There could be someone who at one point had a similar avatar or something and had kids, or I could just be hallucinating.
1.gif
Feeling crampy/tingly/energy feelings in the uterus area are completely normal and are nothing to worry about, unless the cramping''s really intense or comes with bleeding. Sounds like you''re fine.

We ended up not doing the lasagne last night. We had to go to get the lasagne noodles and ricotta and one of those disposable pans for the freezer one, and I just got to the point where I couldn''t decide if I wanted to strangle someone or cry or take a nap. This one guy hit me, because he was walking through the aisles flailing his arms around and I tried but failed to get out of the way. Then another lady dropped some butter on the ground right in front of me, and just looked at me like "well, aren''t you going to pick it up for me now?" No, I''m big and uncomfortable and am not the one who dropped it, you do it lady. And things on the shelves were not by their labels which made me cranky, and my feet were really achy (cleaned upstairs and then went on a walk earlier in the day, so I think that did it) and I just couldn''t handle the idea of standing in the kitchen. So, hubby made filets and cesar salad while I hung out on the couch. Lasagne will now be today.

Congrats, pheonixgirl! And welcome to the preggo thread! I''m excited to have another newbie here! I''m just ahead of you, my due date is Oct. 5th. This will be our first baby. I have also had strange cramping sensations- for the majority of the pregnancy so far. Other than that, still waiting to see if morning sickness is going to kick in- and of course hoping that it doesn''t. I''ve been a little tired and a bit quieter than usual, but other than that I really don''t have many symptoms. We moved to the area we live in a while back, and i had really been dragging my feet to pick a gyno, so I didn''t have an ob/gyn either. Any that I called for regular appts were booking new patients so far out, I just didn''t feel like dealing with it. Well, lo and behold, you get knocked up and they''ll see you right away
41.gif
! My first appt was last week, but all it entailed was blood/pee tests and a lot of information about pregnancy from one of the nurses. Next appointment will be ith the doctor first week of March, and will be the full exam. Not sure if it will include an ultrasound, but I hope so! I want to see if we can hear a heartbeat because I''ll be about 9 1/2 weeks along.

Lindsay- what a sweet picture! You''re little Natalie looks gorgeous (I''m a bit partial to the name, if my screen name is any indication
2.gif
)

Courtney- I don''t see any lines on that perfect belly of yours! Looks great!

NYC- glad you''re hanging in there and able to be at home.

Fiery- mmmmmmm......cake......you stinker! I''m trying to be good! And I vote girl for DD.

Mrs- yikes- $250 for a pump?! This is all going to add up soooo quickly! We are really trying to be minimalists in regards to the baby gear, but there are so many things that seem necessary!

DD- fingers crossed that your fluid level gets down to a safer range!

Pandora- seems like your employers just keep digging their hole even deeper...but hey, that''s a good thing for you, right?
11.gif

LIA and Sabine- I love that bedding! Just saw it in a local baby shop yesterday and thought it was so cute. Sabine, hopefully your DH comes around. LIA, I cannot believe you painte that dresser! It looks fantastic!

Robbie- sweet DH, what a great Valentine''s Day!

Blen- Boo to the stressful shopping trip, but the dinner your DH made sounds yummy!

6 weeks + 6 days today

DD and Mrs,

Praying that things shape up so that your births are wonderful and go smoothly!

I'm so excited for you both. You're going to be MOMMIES!!!

DD: My vote: GIRL. I always vote girl!

****
NYC,

Continue resting girl, and I'm so glad that your babies are doing well and staying put! And you have a precious husband to be caring for you so well! He'll make an awesome father!!!

****
ETA:

LIA, I'm loving the dresser for your son! Did you do that yourself? It's AWESOME! (And his name on the wall, too!!) And I love Coby as a short form of Jacob!

DD,

Are you still doing belly shots?
9.gif

oh Girls. So much going on!!
Glad to hear all of you had nice Vdays and that your Hubby's spoiled you (Robbie - cute story about the orchids and chocolate).
Mine did too with a tiffany's necklace (silver with 4 hearts representing his, mine, baby's and Mela the dogs) and a great dinner out. Awwwwwwwwwwwww.

Phoenixgirl - Congrats!! That is very exciting! Mild cramping is ok - so enjoy the ride! Sending you lots of sticky dust!

DD - Oh MAN. Sucks about your levels! I was SO visualizing your homebirth (is that weird??) and I'm dissapointed for you that it will not be so. Oh well. Baby first - right? I'm a big believer in visualizing the 'win' (like "The Secret") and I truly believe that if you focus your visual energy on opening and ripening your cervix, it will work. Much the same as NYC can visualize the OPPOSITE for keeping her twinnies baking longer. May sound crazy - but I believe it. It helped me heal up from a really serious car accident in 2002 (took 3 yrs to heal but I did!!!!) Also sardines and anchovies are supposed to help ripen your cervix. I love them, crave them and eat them all the time - but I know they are a GAG-fest for most people. hah.
Oh yah - I vote BOY. Although you've had such a super stealth pregnancy that I bet you'll actually have a girl - a stealthy ninja girl that fooled me into voting boy. Which I'm doing. BOY. (damn you ninja girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Pandora - Um, your employers can eat my poo. In unrelated news, can I tell you how much that I LOVE that FANTASTIC high chair? We're going for the Boon Flair (similar-ish) but your has the kickas$ reclining feature that I really feel is lacking in the Boon model. I'm super jealous of it. wow. I just can't justify the price of the Bloom - but I can the Boon. ***Their names are too similar. I feel like the Boon ripped off the Bloom*** anyhoo.
WHERE IS MY BELLY SHOT???????? hahahhaha. I'm the devil right now.

Sabine - sorry to hear your DH doesnt like the bedding (I do!!! lol). Keep working on him
27.gif
. My DH hates everything at first...until I wear him down. ***see my baby names for proof*** lol

Courtney - I think you look GREAT! I know how hard we all are on ourselves, but honestly - your belly is really nice looking. I couldn't see any marks. Keep well moisturized (oil) just in case...but you're looking wonderful to me.

NYC - glad to hear your home and relaxing. AND that you got a little genetics lesson! haha. Thanks for that Pandora - it was interesting!

Mrs - you're getting so close - I'm jealous. I'll visualize low fluids levels for both you and DD ;)
________

I hate complaining...but I have to 'vent'.
I've been lurking but not posting because I have the blues.
7.gif
My sciatic has really acted up lately and basically kept me on my backside. I'm bored and have "FOMO" - "fear of missing out". It's not like I'm on bedrest, but I can barely walk...so....yah.

I've hit what I'm calling "the pregnancy wall". I feel like I'm not far along enough to 'push' to get things done and bought (i.e. DH and Mom are not motivated to do the nursery decor and baby shopping) and yet I feel like I've been pregnant for SO LONG already and I'm kinda ready to just have the darn thing.
5.gif
Does that make sense? I'm in Pregnancy Limbo. I also think I've had a surge of new hormones (seen in my weepy-ness, acne and general low self esteem) which is adding to my pregnancy blues.
40.gif
Has anyone else felt this way?

Mela 26w1d

Well, I finally have sciatica. Which is weird, because I often have it when not pregnant and it only now caught up with me. But hubby and I walked something like 3-4 miles and then I decluttered/vacuumed my car and then we made the lasagna (which involved tons of chopping - 3 peppers and an onion and some mushrooms, plus we added spinach and garlic and italian sausage, and I shredded/chopped up about half a chicken thinking we might use it but since there''s no room we''ll just make chic pot pies later this week and freeze one of those too) sooooo I think I might have just wore my body out. I''ll take it easy for the rest of the day.

I can''t decide if I''m really thinking boy for DD or if all of her blue outfit belly shots are what''s swaying me. Still on the fence on this one. I may be leaning towards girl now, though.
3.gif

NYC - thinking of you!

Natalina - a breastpump that expensive is only necessary if you''re going back to work fulltime and pumping. If you''re going to stay at home and just need to pump so that you can occasionally leave the baby with a sitter, a single electric or even a manual might be adequate. But if you''re working full time and pumping, you''ll be pumping enough that you basically need a double electric so that you can effectively pump both breasts at once. And unfortunately, the double electrics that are not hospital grade aren''t made to be used by multiple people, so you really shouldn''t buy one used. Baby stuff adds up so quickly, but there are a lot of things that you can get pretty cheap on Craigslist or at yard sales if you just keep looking, and grandparents may be quite generous with the other stuff. We were given a car seat and a breastpump, which was just wonderful.

LIA - I missed that you painted the dresser. WOW!

Mela - have you tried swimming? It was great for me when I was in the worst of my back problems, and it''s wonderful to be able to be active without weight on your joints. And it might help you to feel less bed-ridden. Hang in there.

As for your wall, I can semi-relate. I feel like I''ve been pregnant FOREVER. I''m wanting to do certain things that really don''t just make sense when I think about it - I''ve had the urge to take everything off of bookshelves and out of kitchen cupboards to wipe them down, and then I thoroughly cleaned out the car today - but thinking about it, those things are just going to get dusty again by the time that the baby gets here. I mean, it could be almost 2.5 months. (Or it could be a month. Jeez.) But at the same time - and this is where I can''t relate
2.gif
- DH and I spent our walk today talking about how unprepared for a baby we feel. I mean, I can''t remember ever burping a baby or changing a diaper. We were both like, "What do you DO with it once it''s here?"

Phoenix-Loads of congrats to you! Such an exciting time! Can''t wait to get to know you better!

Hey everyone! So upon researching the medical databases, I have discovered that big babies tend to have more amniotic fluid and this is the most likely case for me (Mrs. Is this the case for you too? How big are the size est. for your baby?). Also, extra fluid associated with big babies that is diagnosed in the third trimester is not predictive of any added negative outcomes for babies... it is simply a different kettle of fish than extra fluid and small babies diagnosed in the second trimester, which is more problematic in terms of outcomes. So although the risks of placental abruption and cord prolapse are still present, making a home birth out of the question, I feel fairly certain this whole fluid thing will not be a major issue. Still, they will check it again on Thursday, but as long as the fluid has not increased, this shouldn''t be a major issue in determining my labour options.

However, the OB and the midwife seemed more focused on the presumed size of my baby. He or she is large, based on u/s results which are not terribly accurate. Both middie and OB seemed to think I am "statuesque"
2.gif
enough to birth a larger baby, but they seemed to be talking a little about inducing earlier rather than later to avoid baby getting too big. After doing my own research this weekend I am fairly committed to not allowing myself to be induced prior to 41 weeks unless there is a compelling medical reason -- large baby is not compelling in and of itself, as research suggests that induction does not improve outcomes and increases the likelihood of c-section for babies thought to be large. (as an aside, babies known to be large have a 56% c-section rate compared to a 30% rate for babies who *are* large but were not known to be!). Induction at 41 weeks does improve outcomes compared to the "wait and see" approach, with no increase in c-section rates, so that is my cut off point.

For anyone who is curious, there is a cervical scoring system called a Bishop''s Score, which idicates whether or not the cervix is ripe for induction. A score greater than 8 in ripeness, and in particular effacement of at least 70%, are the strongest predictors of successful induction, resulting in outcomes no different than naturally started labour. In addition, being past your due date when induced is also an important predictor of induction success (i.e., a vaginal birth). So if I am over 40 weeks and my cervix looks ripe enough, I may also consent to induction if my middie feels strongly about it.

Anyhoo, while looking into ways to make birth easier with a bigger baby I came accross this website and thought I would pass it on since I found it really interesting: Spinning Babies. Courtney, Mela and others with pregnancy induced backpain I think reading this site may be really useful for helping find ways to cope. There is a tonne of information and much of it makes really good sense, and it basically has good suggestions for trying to optimally position your baby to minimize pain and discomfort (and aid labour).

39 weeks today!

Hi Everyone! I hope all are feeling well. I just wanted to give a quick update... I am approximatly 10 weeks today (ill know the definate weekage tomorrow) I am SOOOOOO EXCITED! TOMORROW AT 9:30am IS MY VERY 1ST ULTRA SOUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have to be there at 9:30 to register and they see me at I believe 10:30. I am OOOOOBER excited about this...INCASE you hadnt noticed lol. All in all I have felt pretty good. The BAD parts of pregnancy have been very mild for me lol. which I am extremely thankful. Ive had bouts of nausea here and there and only got sick about 4 times or so in all. I think the worst of it is my damn Sciatica nerve acting up so much lol. For the last 2 weeks or so I have been out of my regular jeans since they are already too tight. So im in a size Sm 4 maternaty jean and medium to large maternaty shirts. Luckily JCPenny and Burlington Coat Factory have been having MAJOR clearance sales. So I got jeans for like $15 and AWSOME SOFT courteroy (sp) pants for $5. Shirts for $4-$7 a piece. So I should be good for a while lol. I just want tomorrow to hurry up and get here! I know Im not gunna be able to sleep tonight which is gunna stink....blah

Okay... here is my list of what we reckoned the essential baby items were - and it''s still hideously long...

)
Muslin Squares

So far I have bought about 70% of this list and the only brand-new thhings from shops will be the pram and car seat (I want the warrenty on both and somewhere to take them if there are problems) and the chest-of-drawers/changing unit which came from IKEA.

Everything else I have bought via ebay either brand-new or in pristine condition and have saved masses of $$$ that way. The Bloom Fresco highchair cost us less than half the UK retail price - still expensive, but if we use it from birth to the age of 4 it will have more than paid for itself - and it may mean we can get away with not needing a baby swing/bouncer.

Things like the highchair and crib I did have to watch religiously for several months before the right one at the right price came along, but the savings have made it worth it.

If anyone can think of anything I''ve forgotten then please do add it!

Thanks for the well wishes everyone!

Dreamer, when they measured the baby via u/s 2 weeks ago, they suggested she was 4 pounds 12 oz which they said was right on target. They didn't feel that she was on the large side. We have another u/s scheduled for a week from tomorrow so I'll let you know how she's measuring then.

My research has resulted in the same finding as yours so even though (in my case) the baby isn't too large, I feel like it's late enough in the pregnancy for the polyhydramnios not to be something either of us need to be seriously concerned about.

I was just reading about the Bishop's score this morning and it made me feel like I still have a loooong way to go before this baby is out since I'm relatively certain that my body is no where near ready... She's still head up and no where near engaged... I'm glad you're planning to wait on the induction - I would do the same if I were you.

My friend shared that spinning babies site with me this weekend - it looks like a great site.

Sapphire, congrats on reaching the 10 week mark! I'm excited for your appointment tomorrow!

Fiery, thanks for keeping DD's up to date! seems like we're split pretty evenly on boy vs girl!

Mela, I'm sorry you're feeling in limbo - I've definitely felt like that at times. Try to focus on how temporary pregnancy is and remember that your baby will be here in a relatively short amount of time!

Blen, sorry to hear you were so uncomfortable yesterday! I hope the lasagna was yummy!

Pandora, that list looks very complete! I'm glad you've been able to get so much stuff on ebay - that's great!

Mrs. Most babies who are breech turn, and with a little extra fluid (and you only have a little), then it will be easier to turn yours if need be. I''m sure it will work out. Still, you could try some of the spinning babies maneouvers, although they do not recommend inversions for women with extra fluid...

Pandora nice list! The only thing I might think about is getting a little bath for baby. They are cheap, and kitchen sinks are notoriously filthy! LOL! I am not a germaphobe, but I don''t know if I would sump our baby in there! Maybe the bathroom sink...

****

I''m feeling a little aggravated by all the talk of induction the other day, because of the suspicion that by baby is big. In many ways, I feel like they are just introducing a fear-based attitude into the labour... like if I prefer to wait and let it happen naturally, then it will only be a "trial vaginal labour", which in my mind basically means it won''t work out--the very word "trial" implies it will not work out! How am I supposed to labour when I am not feeling supported by my caregivers? I have a meeting with my middie tomorrow to check my BP again
20.gif
at the OBs request (it has been totally normal for the last 6 weeks!) and I am going to talk to her about some of these things. Of course, balanced with these feelings is my desire to trust the experts about this whole thing.... Siggghhh... I wish my situation was more clear cut--either normal go-for-vaginal or a clear cut case where intervention was completely indicated medically.

LOL!

I''m opting for the sink because a) we have a ceramic double belfast with lots of room (we also don''t have garbage disposal thingys etc in the UK), and b) it means I don''t have to bend which is a plus for my back.

I''m quite tempted by those Tummy Tub things though!

DD, I''m sorry you were aggravated by the induction talk - I would be as well. Just like I was annoyed by my OB''s talk of a c-section if the baby doesn''t turn. I know they feel they need to discuss all scenarios to prepare us for the worst but I agree that those discussions seem to be more about fear. I think my OB started her c-section comment with, "I don''t don''t want to scare you but..." HELLOO!!!! Then don''t start the sentence that way!

It''s really frustrating that they spoke of vaginal labor as a "trial" - not cool. I''m glad you plan to talk to your middie about it.

I''m very confidant that the baby will turn since I believe only about 4% of c-sections are necessary because of breech presentation so I''m not worried but it''s frustrating that the dr''s seem only to care about preparing for the worst. I guess it''s just how they''re trained... They said that they wouldn''t do manual version on me given the excess fluid since they fear the baby might get tangled up in the umbilical cord, given the extra fluid... we''ll see!

It''s Monday ladies. Wow, I miss a day or two and there has been so much posting!

Will try to hit everyone:

Linds- Great news that there are no signs of distress, and what amazing pictures!

Courtney- I don''t see any lines at all, you look great.

NYC- Any word from your doctor about your tests?

Neat- Hi mommy! What a sweet DH- I don''t think even my DH knows "whiteflash"- but since we do live near WF, I am thinking he will become familiar with it very quickly.
31.gif
Hope you are getting some sleep.

Dreamer- Wow, that''s a big baby!
6.gif
But if anyone can do it, you can. It doesn''t sound like any options are totally off the table, I am hoping all goes as smoothly as you had hoped. I don''t know much about it, but I agree on your thoughts on induction. Any idea WHY doctors are so pro-induction these days? I mean, I was 3 weeks late back in the day. I don''t want to be induced either unless it''s absolutely necessary.

Pandora- Wow, I
30.gif
that highchair! I showed DH and now he''s obsessed. He loves design/architecture/furniture, so he is having so much fun searching for baby furniture. I keep telling him it''s too early, but whatever works. Your employers don''t sound like they are getting very sound legal advice. Which is good for you. Keep on keeping on, this will all be over someday. I am proud of you for sticking up for yourself. A lot of people would just give up. Can''t wait to meet Miss Daisy, she will take your mind off all of their crap.

Blen- Sorry you had a mini-meltdown at the grocery store. But it made me smile. And yum, lasagna, a fire and chicken pot pies- sounds heavenly to me. Three of my favorite things!

Ok, breaking this up into two posts:

Sabine- Love that bedding. I think it''s so funny when boys have opinions on bedding and such. I mean, really? Why? Of course, mine totally does too, but you''d think they wouldn''t care. I think you should keep working on him, it''s gorgeous. Did you like Marley and Me? I saw it on Christmas Day, and I was just about 8 weeks pregnant and it was NOT a good thing for me to see. Too stressful and sad!!!! Thought it was a good movie though. Just too emotional for me.

Robbie- Aww, glad your DH was so sweet on V Day.

Phoenixgirl- Welcome!
35.gif
I wouldn''t worry too much about being tired/not working out. Just go with it- you will definitely get a burst of energy later and will welcome getting to move around before you get too big.
3.gif
But the first few weeks some days you will just feel like you''ve been hit by a truck. I have kept doing pilates and working out with my trainer, but it''s a lot less intense and I am just trying to focus on staying strong and flexible, but NOT trying to lose weight or anything. It''s a hard thing to switch in your mind, but luckily, I am naturally lazy.
2.gif

Mela- What a sweet, sweet gift. Our doggie is a part of our family too. Sorry you''ve hit the wall. I''m pretty sure I will too. No advice, but I''m thinking of you- and thanks for sharing. It helps me so much that all the preggos on this board are so honest about the good and especially not so good parts of pregnancy. It helps to know we aren''t alone when it gets hard.

Sapphire Cutie- Good luck at your first appointment! I did have an early U/S, but not all doctors do them. Just know that it takes a minute to hear the h/b if you can even hear it, so don''t panic immediately like I did!

Whew. And hi to anyone else I missed!

Had a great, lazy and perfect Valentine''s weekend that involved sleeping late during a rainstorm, a museum outing, pizza (DH was supposed to cook for me, but I started feeling ill and he happily agreed to do pizza instead- though he did bake me an apple pie), silly movies, a fantastic massage, house-hunting, browsing at the bookstore, happy hour in the gorgeous Sunday sunshine on a patio, and catching up on Lost. Oh, and naps, lots of naps.

Pants are definitely tight. Can still wear all my normal stuff, but definitely feeling like I''m getting a tiny belly. It''s weird.

DH and I finally started talking about names, and it''s so fun- and kind of silly! It''s HARD. No winners yet. We both seem to think it''s a boy, since we only throw out boy names. I think we''ve discussed 2 girl names.

Hope everyone has a great day.

China- thanks for askin...doc called friday and said glucose was borderline so I gotta take the 3 hr one grrr! Platelletes are elevated (duno what that means exactly), liver enzymes elevated. So point being I still don''t know what is wrong with me...maybe the gallstones are causing issues...but I will see my doc on wed and will see my own internist soon.
Otherwise babies kicking away and im feeling good..so lets keep it that way ;)

<---26wks today! Every week is a celebration!

hey ladies!

Hope everyone is doing well! Been kind of blah myself the past week. I don''t know, kind of like Mela, just kind of over being preggo. Still have a waaaaaaaaaaaaaays to go!

Just wanted to weigh in on Dreamer poll. It''s a tough call for me, because I think boy for some reason, but am going to put my vote for GIRL!

Dreamer - sorry to hear about not being able to do a home birth! Hang in there and you will meet your little guy/gal soon enough, no matter how they get here

NYC - the false positive rate on the 1 hr test is crazy high, so I wouldn''t read anything into them asking you to do a 3 hr unless it comes back with something. I hope that they figure out what''s going on.

DD - are they going by your original due date or your adjusted one in terms of scheduling an induction?

I can really understand your frustration and hopefully talking to your midwives about it will help. And my OB did a fear-based "If your baby doesn''t turn we''ll need to do a c-section or there could be significant risks to the baby" when I was still 29 weeks and baby stilll had PLENTY of time to turn. I don''t know why they have to talk that way.

Sapphire - sound like you got some great deals!

Pandora - thanks for posting the list! We don''t have a baby bath either because I had the same thought about our kitchen sink being a better height for me and my back. I''ll just clean it out before bathing baby so it''s not all germy. I had to teach DH lately that just because you use water and soap in the kitchen sink a lot does NOT mean that it just stays clean automatically - yuck!

My new due date, they have completely thrown out my old one in favour of the early u/s results. The interesting thing in my mind about due dates is that, I suppose, they are to indicate that the baby is ready to live outside the womb. Well, our baby is ready, so then does it matter when the due dates were? Anyways, nothing is set in stone yet, we shall see how things progress over the next week. Basically, I want to hear their reasoning for things. Statistics are good, but in the end you cannot predict an individual''s expereinces from them, and so I am interested to hear their particular takes on how things should progress for me. I think a lot is going to depend on the results of the next u/s.

You are right about the fear thing... after the OB left the midwife said, "She is just trying to prepare you for all the possibilities." Okay, but it really does undermine my confidence, so thanks!

DD, good luck my dear. You will do great! I am guessing girl
2.gif

I am also guessing girl for DD...which means she'll have a boy.
