Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Courtney, I''ll be thinking of you today! Break a leg!

Thanks, everyone. Still no word from hospital, so I''ll call them in 45 minutes. I''m so hungry I could eat my hand. If they put me off again, I''m going to tell them that I''m eating, dammit!

China, I''m only 10 minutes away from hospital and I don''t think it flooded a lot out here. I''m right outside the loop. I wouldn''t have been able to make it to work today I know that much. Did you stay home today?

Thank you everyone!!!!!!!!!

Good luck Courtney!!! You look absolutely GORGEOUS in your pics!! Can''t wait to see what a beautiful little girl you have!

Mela - the nursery is DIVINE!! Love it!! And I''m guessing BOY for you!

China and Ebree - you both look GREAT!!

Happy B-day Manadrine!!

Lots of April b-days here! My 30th b-day was last Wednesday..too bad i was stuck in bed
8.gif
My DH and I had to give away amazing Yankee tickets for that day because I just wasn''t up to sitting and walking...bummer!!

As for me, nothing new. Urologist wants to keep the stent in, but I''ll know for sure next week after I get an x-ray...he feels it''s necessary to really know what''s going on and why i''m in so much pain. But his feeling is that the stent will most likely stay until after delivery, so I''ll likely be pulled out of work for good now just so I can best manage the pain. Definitely wasn''t part of the plan as I''ll have to go back to work a month earlier than planned after baby, but I''m still taking 6 months off after baby is here, so I shouldn''t complain (no pay, but my job is keeping my position for me).

Good luck today Courtney! I hope it all goes well, and I can''t wait to meet Alila!

Happy Birthday Mandarine! Enjoy today!

Hope everyone is doing well! DH and I told our moms, I have yet to tell my Dad, but I''ll tell him today, I suppose. I don''t know why I''m so hesitant to tell him? After a few days of no nausea or sore boobs, it''s now back with a vengeance. It''s good, I know there''s still things working in there, so I''m okay with it! I''m exhausted and hungry, but nothing ever sounds good, quite unfortunate!

Okay, going to go nap in my office chair again!

Courtney I think you should eat. You need your strength. It is a precaution on their part that is not universally followed by health care practitioners. I ate before my induction, I just did it secretly

I just snuck a few goldfish crackers. I was starting to feel sick!! Well, I called at 10 and was told to call back at noon. Apparantly 11 nurses didn''t come in this morning because of the flooding. I had to find this out once I called my OB. The nurse didn''t offer up that information.

If I''m turned away again at noon, then I meet with my OB who said she wanted to check the fluid around the baby. If it''s even a little bit low, the hospital will be inclined to get me in. I''d prefer to just start over tomorrow when they have a full staff, honestly.

Me too! Hope it works out, but better to start fresh on a full nights sleep and with some food in the tummy anyways!

Uggh - what a PITA. I would opt for the full staffing as well, but getting yourself emotionally ready and then having to put things back is no fun!

Your nursery is beautiful and you look absolutely radiant in those photographs!

ETA: I''ve just been talking to a friend who is 8 days overdue - she''s got till Friday or she''s being induced in the hospital birth centre. She really wants a water birth which is only available in the Home from Home centre across the corridor, so is trying EVERYTHING to bring it on.

court - ugh that''s frustrating. just wanted to wish u good luck, whenever you''re able to go in. and you look great!!

mela - i''m sure you already know this, but my vote''s on romeo. your nursery is adorable!
30.gif
and we have long drapes too, in living and dining rooms... will need to take care of that at some point.

Mela - I love the nursery!

Just out of interest, what are you doing re the changing mat? Did you get the fabric things that go on top or are you using towels or just going to wipe it down? I was looking to see if any of the medical shops had some kind of tear off disposable pad thing or similar.

Sorry I couldn't help out with getting one to you - I managed to get one here for £25 in the end, although it took a heck of a search to find it at that price. I went with a cream one in the end, but the blue was very tempting!

I'm voting BOY for you (lentils and no morning sickness are convincing me on this!)

Mandarine - great scan news and love the photos. Baby A looks girly to me, Baby B has their legs in the wrong place to see the nub and guess the gender, so no idea there...

CDT - I'm so sorry about the stent situation. Not nice at all for you - sending best wishes and a big hug.

Saw my physio yesterday who is convinced that the baby had dropped since last time I saw here (2 weeks ago) - the bump does seem to be smaller than it has been and I can just about see the ends of my feet again, plus the tops of my legs hurt and make me waddle - so maybe! I've been trying to work out how many 5th of the head I can feel outside the pelvis (OB showing the medical student how to do it last week was very useful!) and I'm thinking she's now at - 3 station. Looks like all the walking this weekend may have paid off!

Last antenatal class was last night - DH behaved even if he did opt out of the practice nappy change bit. However the midwives have said that they make the fathers do the first nappy change in the hospital as the mothers deserve a break! Mr. Super-Squeamish did not look best pleased but I think he's a bit scared of the midwives and will just do it when the moment comes!

In sadder news, it looks as if DH's grandmother may only have hours to live. She is 95 and is in major heart failure (her eldest son is a cardio-surgeon so she's had great care). We saw her a few weeks ago and she looked really good, so who knows, she may suprise us all! She was hoping Daisy would be born on the 18th May - her 96th birthday - and we really wanted her to see the baby, she and I also get on really well and have a lot of interests in common, so I'm very sad not to have had more time to know her. If she's still with us, we'll go up to see her this weekend, but I can't leave London after next Tuesday which will be hard for DH if he has to go to a funeral on his own (She's a 3 hour drive each way).

FULL TERM TODAY - 37 weeks!!!

Courtney- Nope, I''m at work. I live 5 mins from where I work and it wasn''t flooded at all. Pretty clear out right now, but we''re supposed to get more, right? I did get almost stuck once, downtown in the dark, and I am super paranoid now about getting stuck in flooded waters. But people (i.e. NURSES) should definitely be at work by now, no reason to stay home. I am with you, I would probably rather wait till tomorrow than deal with short staff. Are you comfortable telling me where you will deliver? Totally understand if you don''t want to advertise it- especially BEFORE you go in. But I will be interested in your experience afterwards, maybe you can let me know without giving details. It''s almost noon. I would totally eat if you aren''t given the go-ahead to come in at noon. Keep us posted!!!!!!

Lindsey- Thinking of you too. Hope you are feeling better, physically at least.

CDT- Ugh and feh and meh about the stent. Sorry you have to stay home, but that''s great that you get 6 months!!! Sorry about your birthday too.

Amber: Hey there! I felt weird telling my parents too, especially my dad. For me, it was sort of like I''m still his daughter, it''s kind of weird to be pregnant. He was so excited and sweet about it though. Maybe come up with a way where you don''t actually have to say it out loud? Like give him something or write it on something?

Pandora- Yay for full term! Sorry about DH''s grandmother.
14.gif

Speaking of meh and feh, LYSSER, are you out there? How are you doing girl????

Courtney- I''m sorry for the delay- that''s gotta be frustrating. I hope you can get in soon (or tomorrow morning, for a fresh start!). Heaps of luck to you!

mela- What was your BD pattern again (if you don''t mind sharing)? Wasn''t it just once, on day of O, or am I confusing you with someone else? If so, paired with the fact that we''ve had very similar cravings, I''m going to guess BOY. Sure, I have a bad track record, but those were all ''gut'' guesses- I''m using information to guess this time!
3.gif

cdt- I''m sorry you''re still dealing with pain. Fingers crossed the urologist can find the source, and I hope it''s not the stent if it has to stay in. Pain-lessening vibes coming your way!

Pandora- I''m sorry to hear about your DHs grandmother. Hugs to you both.

Happy b-day M!

Court- ugh what a day! I agree about rescheduling for tom and having a better experience from the very beginning! Pics are beautiful! Thinkin of ya.

Pandora- sooo sorry about dh''s gram
7.gif
...did u say she was 95??...bless her!
Congrats on full term...I can''t believe we are all almost there...we spent our entire pregnancies together here and we are now transitioning into mommyhod together..amazing!

CC- exciting about ur bff...isn''t it unreal thinking of how far you''ve come..my bff is in cali and wasn''t able to be there during my C...she is arriving today to spend time with the lo''s...and it also makes me think ...wow when did we become adults???

China-

I completely forgot to weigh in on the bedding, but I''m not much help: I like them all! You''ve got great taste. Since they all have a theme of sorts, it''d depend on which you think you''d have the most fun with (if you want to stick to a theme).

Thanks for everyone''s input on the bedding. I found the cowboy stuff on sale, and went ahead and bought it just in case. Not sure I love it, but everyone else that "knows" me does, so I couldn''t resist the sale. It was originally at least $350 and I got it for $77. Can''t really beat that, and if I don''t love it, well, I am sure I can resell it or something. Too good of a deal to pass up! But if anyone sees any other cute boy bedding, feel free to suggest!

Courtney- She hasn''t checked back in yet, do we think they took her????
36.gif
Thinking of you! Hope you are either having a baby or eating!

NYC- Hard to be so far from your BFF, isn''t it? Especially now. So glad yours is coming for a visit!

My lovely BFF had her gorgeous baby GIRL this morning. 8 lbs, 6 oz. Can''t wait to meet her!!!! I seriously keep tearing up, I am sure my co-workers are rolling their eyes at me!

Oh, and I DON''T have an UTI infection. Thank goodness, because I had some back pain this weekend and convinced myself it had spread to my kidneys.
14.gif
So silly, no other symptoms.

Mela- ARGH, now I am undecided again on your le bebe. Since you are my twin, and you are all belly and you did have similar cravings, hmmm. Is Romeo edging out front again???? Though Ebree is always wrong. Hmmm. I am going to ponder this and come back. I can "see" you having a boy. But for some reason, I "hear" Luna and not Romeo. Ok, that sounded weird.

Good choice on the cowboy bedding, and wow- $77 down from $350? That's a fabulous deal.

LOL! I have been wrong every time in the past, but I think I'm right this time. If I'm not, I'm pointing the finger at Mr. Shettles.

E- I know, I couldn''t pass it up at that price. Funnily enough, even though you have been wrong
31.gif
,it was your post that got me thinking boy for Mela. Your logic is pretty good there!

Fishie- Do you always pick girl??????
11.gif

I''m guessing girl for Mela! I don''t remember if I already commented or not, but your nursery looks soooo peaceful! Love it!

China, great deal on the bedding!

Courtney, thinking of you! Hopefully you are doing well whether you went in today or are waiting...

cdt, hope the pain lets up for you soon!

Happy Birthday to all the April b-dayers!

Nothing new for me, school has just been really busy. Today was an interview for my position for next year where the candidate taught a lesson to one of my classes, and get this, our Principal (who I have nothing but disdain for) FORGOT TO SHOW UP. So this guy put all this time and effort into his lesson, and the Principal didn''t even see it. Ridiculousness!

Blen - We have long drapes in EVERY room of the house (it feels). So, HimHer is just going to have to LEARN not to pull. It will take a lot of disciplining on my part, but honestly, I''m not about to go changing all my drapery. Maybe pinning it up for a while...but not changing it.

Just like the dog food, dog toys etc. Baby will have to learn what is acceptable to touch, and what is not. Again, major policing on my part, but what am I going to do - deprive the dog it''s food?

I love how you remember me with no morning sickness. HAHA. Compared to you I did have virtually none, but all those weeks of severe nausea were terrible.
14.gif

Also - LENTILS!!!!!!! That was a trip. Whoa.

As for our Kuster change mat, I plan on using either nothing (wiping it down) or just small hand-towels as a cover. Cheap, easy to wash and fold, and we have tons of them to burn through....
I''m jealous of your yellow one. It would have been PERF in our nursery. Le sigh.

Sorry about your Gran.

95 is a fantastic life though!!

Congrats on FULL TERM! Can you believe it?!

We DTD on the day of O, and also two days before O. (we were on the ''every other day'' plan.

Court - thinking of you!

So...nursery decor. I've decided to scrap the theme idea (for now) and do something like: Restful-yet-stimulating, vintage-yet-modern, colorful eclectic. What do you think?
41.gif

I purchased these 12 inch paper lanterns to hang in a corner for a pop of color, but as for everything else, I'm still deciding with zero help from my husband. I think for bedding, we'll just do plain pale blue sheets with the sage green breathable bumper.

Anyone else have some inspiration photos they'd like to share? Pleeeeze?
12.gif

ETA: I almost forgot! Our glider came today and it is huge. It's nice and comfy though.

lanternsnursery.jpg

Ebree- Love those lanterns, and love that idea. Your description is exactly what I was going for, but haven't been able to find. I will keep looking and will post if I see anything. Remind me of what your furniture is again???

ETA: Have you checked out Apartment Therapy's baby site, I think it's ohdeedoh.com??? They have pics of real people's nurseries and they tend to be more mix and match. I think I remember seeing one with orange lanterns. I think my favorite inspiration board was from Lovelylulu on here. Maybe it's in the nursery thread? I'll see if I can find it. It's awesome.

Hey gals, quick update. Induction scheduled for tomorrow and I shouldn''t have any problem getting in. Today was a staffing issue due to the flooding and they got backed up. I went to see OB and fluid is good, baby is good, but I haven''t progressed since last Friday. Still 2 cm and 50%. I was really surprised about that because I was confident I could feel changes! Oh well. So it looks like Alila will be joining us around tomorrow evening some time. I have to follow the same steps: call at 5am, etc. I hope I get right in and OB thinks I will.

Pandora, congrats on full term. You are almost there!

China, Texas Women''s.

I''m going to EAT more and lay down. After our appnt we went to a jewelry store and upgraded my diamond studs for my birthday AND push gift. I LOOOVE them.
1.gif

Aww Courtney, when I saw you posted, I was a little bummed, but think this sounds WAY better. You get to eat, and rest AND you got some bling!!!
30.gif
Awesome. Tomorrow it is then! I have heard good things about Women''s. Let me know how your experience is. I will be at the one that begins with an M. Just where my doc delivers, don''t really know much about the differences. Though I heard Women''s and Texas Children''s are both building fabulous new maternity wards.

Hope you don''t have to go through the same thing tomorrow!
Who knows? Maybe Alila just needed this extra time to get ready for her appearance

You looked absolutely radiant and glowing in your "byebye belly" pictures,
and I agree w/ others that you''ll be back to your pre-preggo body in no time.
Lots of labor dust to you tomorrow.
