Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

hey ladies...I REALLY appreciate all your support! Seriously, thanks for trying to make me feel better
9.gif

The pregnancy gods must hate me though! I''ve been having some lower back and hip pain for about a week...today i am in sooooooooooooooooo much freakin pain on my right side I cannot even tell you!!! I''m thinking it''s sciatca, but not sure...just know that NOTHING is helping me today....I''m trying to schedule a massage to see if that''ll help at least temporarily.

Seriously, what other kind of pain do I have to deal with???

I can''t stop crying, which I know is not helping me, but the pain is just searing in my hip, butt, lower back and groin area....

I''m so sorry...here I am complaining about a little bit of pain yesterday and here you are going through hell.

The only thing I can think of is to keep thinking that it''ll be worth it in the end, when you get to hold your baby. Plus you''ll have something awesome to yell at the kid about later on in life.

tao - don''t be sorry...complain away
9.gif
i''m just beyond frustrated at this point...i know i sound like a baby, but i seriously don''t know how much more of this i can take.......

Mandarine, I'm guessing team purple for you.

Well, I just got my gd test results...cutoff was 140, and I'm at 161. Booooooo. I know I could still pass the 3 hour, but I'm really stressed out about it because I'm going to have to take a day off work. Today I sat down and planned out the last 3 weeks of school before finals weeks, for basically for 2 of my classes, if we get even a day behind, we will run out of time and I'll be all thrown off. And on almost all the days, I'll actually need to be there for one or the other classes, either for reviewing for a major test, or to watch presentations to be able to grade them. Ugh.
Haven't caught up, but I failed my first GD test miserably and then passed the second with flying colours. So did lili I believe. Had you eaten within the previous 3 hours pefore the test? They tell you it doesn't matter but how can it not if you already have glucose in your blood and add more then your levels will be higher!

A note to remember, failing the first GD test and passing the next is associated with larger babies! Hunter was 8.5 lbs, so you *may* have a big baby baking in there!

CDT I want to commisserate with you! For the last 5 weeks of my pregnancy Hunter was malpositioned so that his head bached into my pelvic bone and I was in absolutely excruciating pain if I stood, walked, rolled over in bed... basically anything that involved moving my legs independently
20.gif
Some night I got out of bed to go pee and had to lean against the wall for a few moments catching my breath from the pain. So I feel for you! Because of it I was on self-imposed modified bedrest for about a month at the end. I simply couldn''t walk. But it went away when I delivered and hopefully it will for you too. And it was worth it!
9.gif
I know baby is abstract right now, but when you hold your child you will forget all the pain. Really.

dreamer - thanks! I remember you saying you were in pain...it''s excruitating for sure! Just when i thought the stent was the only pain i had to deal w/ this..now this......oh man, i wish someone would have told me what a pain pregnancy is
3.gif

Amber- Your little dragon has a nose! I'm so glad everything looked good. You still thinking boy?

Lysser- It's great to hear from you! I'm glad your baby boy is nice and healthy. I'm sorry about the anxiety. Just think- it'll all be worth it when he's in your arms, smiling for the first time.

sunkist- The constant need to eat has come in waves throughout this pregnancy, but it's definitely gotten better and less *urgent.* Hang in there!

Pandora- I don't know if you've seen the Preggos In Waiting list lately, but you're next! Just a week until your due date, right? I hope your day gets better.

Mandarine- Boo for the delay, but it's just a few more hours! You're on the WC like I am, right? Don't leave us hanging!
3.gif

natalina- It's so funny how so many of us boy mommies are craving avocado. It's got to be a coincidence, but it's still weird!

mela- Happy early birthday! *Labor dust, labor dust, labor dust*

cdt (and taovandel!)- I'm so sorry about the sciatica. When it rains, it pours, doesn't it?
7.gif
I'm staying in bed myself today (pillows behind my back feel so good), so know that there's another PSer bed-surfing along with you!

Thank you all for the kind words of support about the rib/back pain. I was only up twice last night, which is a break from my normal five or six times. Not a great night's sleep, but a decent one. Tylenol is helping, and I have a 'scrip for Vicodin if it gets to be unbearable.

We have a childbirth class tonight, and before, DH is taking me out for a hamburger. They're what I crave the most. Now, I'm not talking the SUPER good kind with the cheese and special sauce, but the healthier kind- just the bun, patty, lettuce, onions and tons of pickles. Mmmmmm. I have maybe five a week, but would eat them twice a day if I could.

Anyone else want to share what they're craving?

Feeling better now that my meotions settled!...I think DH just noticed I was upset and then thought we should change it back to make it better, not knowing asking me to do that just made it worse.

In any case...I stopped by and got BLINDED by Dreamer''s new avatar!!!

Now I forgot what I came to say!...hehe.

Appointment is in 40 minutes!!!....eeeeeekkk, I''m nervous! I hope they can tell with some certainty, but who knows!.

I too crave avocados....................hmmmmmmm

40 minutes! And avocados, huh? Seems to be a pretty popular craving among the boy moms.

Hi ladies! I''ve been MIA because of a completely hectic move on May 1st, but I wanted to let you know that I love all the belly pics and the baby ones...
30.gif

Anyone else in their first trimester? I''m 7 weeks today, and I''m lucky enough to not have m/s, but I''m soooo tired, and I''m eating all the time! Not to mention the nausea and burping and gas... Ugh. Not feeling so well. I expected to be craving sweet foods, but strangely enough, I actually have an aversion to it. I guess that''s not a bad thing.

I found my doctor today! First appointment on June 10th. I''m pretty relieved. I don''t know if you have similar organizations where you live, but in QC we have one that handles all matters of occupational health and safety called the CSST (Commission de la santé et de la sécurité au travail), and my boss wants me to fill out a form for a possible preventive withdrawal from work. I''ll do that tomorrow, and I should know when I''ll leave work in about a week. I understand that leaving work early will probably be good for me and the little one (I''m a biologist, but I''m a postal worker for now; the economy''s making it pretty hard for new graduates to find jobs in their field), but I''m afraid I''ll get bored to death.

I''m having a hard time keeping up with everyone''s news, but I''m thinking about all of you! CDT - I''m sorry you''re in so much pain.

Ok ladies....we''re back..................

DRUM ROLL PLEASE.....................................................

Yeah, I''m pretty excited. I was hoping for at least one girl, but I think this is awesome!!. They are coming into this world with their best "bud" and they''re just going to have a blast!. DH is pretty excited and said that at least I know I''ll always be the prettiest one in the house

So there you have it!!! Go team Blue!

YAY MANDARINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trust me the moment you look into the eyes of your little sons you will be in LOVE.
30.gif

Little boys are really the best (not that I am biased or anything)-you get to teach them how to be little gentlemen. And of course it doesn't hurt that once they're a little older you will never have to do yardwork or put anything together ever again!

Thanks Neat!!! Was about to email you!!!
I''m actually pretty excited!!!

When I called my sister, I could hear my nephews (5 and 3) screaming of excitement in the background!! lol

Congrats Mandarine! Two boys, that''s wonderful!
36.gif

Wow, Mandarine, congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My absolute best friend in the whole world is a boy (hubby!) so I think boys are pretty darn awesome!! I do think that there are so many benefits of having same-sex twins that I'm not really sure if I have a preference myself.

Thanks to everyone for the reassurance about food choices/weight gain (esp Mandarine for posting her menu, which sounds like about how much I'm eating). The twin book I was reading recommended an average 48 lb weight gain for twins (and eating an additional 1300 cals a day versus only 300 extra for a singleton), which did seem ridiculous to me. However, DH really took to heart the importance of gaining weight early so I'm doing a daily "weight-gain shake." The Ensures we checked out had soy protein and corn syrup in them, so they didn't seem too healthy for the babies; I'm going with 8oz skim milk blended with a scoop of whey protein (16g protein), heaping tablespoon of nut butter, and a teeny bit of cocoa powder and sugar. Does that sound good?

The only other news on my end is that DH is graduating from medical school tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!! He's been in his MD/PhD program for 8 yrs now so we're all thrilled that he's finally done w/ both of his degrees. We have a bunch of family here (going to see them soon) and I'm sure that there will be lots of bump-rubbing. I am having a little more spotting which is worrisome (brown-colored), but it's less than a few weeks ago so hopefully it's nothing.

P.S. China, I like Oliver too! It's classic and not trendy compared to so many other names (though it's experiencing a surge I think).

Sunkist, glad to see you!!

Mela, lots of going-into-labor vibes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh Mandarine, your diet looks so awesome and healthy, but the one thing I wanted to mention is that I did see some data out there that suggested that women who take flax oil have 4x the rate of pre-term labor (a scary thing for us twin moms!). I guess that there are mixed things about the actual seed, but when I read that I stopped putting it on my oatmeal just in case. I''m taking fish-oil for Omega 3s like a lot of other moms-to-be on here. Just wanted to let you know in case you wanted to look it up! Congrats again on your little boys!

OH WOWIE WOW! BOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was dead wrong on that one. HAHA. I''m SO happy for you! Great news. Now, let''s start the name-game (my favourite thing in the world).

CONGRATS MANDARINE

Thanks Peony! I don''t take the oil, I take ground flax seeds wich I think is different. I''ll ask the peri on my next appointment. Seems like every week I''m either on an ultrasound or at a Dr''s apointment! lol.
I''ll look it up just in case. I do know the maximum amount of ground flax seeds is 2 tablespoons/day.
Are you sure the book said 1300 calories? I''m reading the same book and I think it was 600 calories?, which makes sense..regardless, don''t stress about it too much as long as you know you''re eating healthy and enough :)

Woohoo, Mandarine! Congratulations!

Hi, Anchor! According to my gyno, I enter week 5 today, and I was just about to post to ask pretty much the same questions: I''m so tired I feel like I''m on the verge of fainting a lot of the time, and I want to eat ALL OF THE TIME. It''s like, Circe Eat World over here. I''ve already gained 2-3 pounds, and What to Expect When You''re Expecting is freaking me out with its claims that women should nly gain 3-4 pounds in the first trimester, ''cause, WtEwYE, I hate to tell you, but unless violent MS kicks in (and let us hope that it does NOT), that is sooooooooo not happening. Argh ....

Awwwwwww
Thanks everyone!!!!
You''re all so sweet!!!!!!!

(Double blue faces for ya!)

Names, names, names! This is going to be hard!!!. We were set on a girls name (Gabriella) ...but not on one boy''s name! Just one middle name (Allan) in honor of DH''s dad.

Other boys names that have been thrown out there (we don''t really agree on one in particular):

DH Doesn''t like but I do:
Matias
Diego
Joshua
Noah

DH likes but I don''t:
Thomas
Nicholas

Sort of on the table:
Santiago
Alexander
Lucas
Marcos
Matthew/Mateo

I need a name that my family can say (Spanish) but not one that it''s hard to say here in the US (DH got teased as a kid even though he has a beautiful name)...so it''s very hard!

Mandarine - my BFF''s son''s names are Lucas and Mateo (she''s columbian, her DH is puerto rican)...great names
9.gif

Congrats on team blue, Mandarine!
36.gif

Peony, glad to hear the news about your DH too.
36.gif

Anchor - 7 weeks already? Wow. I''m about 10 weeks. Started feeling nauseous from about 6 weeks on - but only vomited twice. I''m not having the tiredness that you''re having...although I hear it''s pretty common in pregnancy, especially in the first trimester. Hopefully, you won''t have m/s added to your tiredness....it usually kicks in around 6-7 weeks.

So your first appt. will be at about 9-10 weeks then?

I also find it challenging to keep up with this thread! It moves so fast! So I mostly just lurk and pop in with something to say from time to time. I love reading everyone''s news and seeing all the belly pics too.
