Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Brgirl-How did the internal go? Any progress?
Thanks for asking! No, none...my cervix is shortening, but no effacement or dilation. I did have a contraction while I was in there, so the DR tried to show me what my stomach looked like when it happened, but I am still worried I won''t know when these mild ones start for early labor!
I''m kind of worried about not recognizing any signs either! I have this vision of me getting the strong urge to push and that being my sign its time lol

Amber-Sorry your cousin spilled the news. She probably thought by telling your aunt, she wouldn''t say anything to you haha

Gals, don''t be too worried about Pandora...positive thoughts. I went into labor on PS, and if Mara hadn''t finally texted me to ask what was up, I would have been MIA for the next 6 days as after my c-section, they wanted to monitor me for a bit longer than usual.

Hopefully we will hear from her soon!

Thanks Fiery and Amber.

Amber, yes we saw the heart beat! Its a quick lil sucker. DH is really excited, he says I''m wrong, but I think it finally "hit" him after we left the Dr. office. The Doc gave us a book on pregnancy, and while I was online checking out cribs and bedding options, he was totally reading the book
2.gif
He also brought one of the u/s pics with him to put in his office at work. I love it!
Our Dr. actually made a comment about making it in time for the tax deadline, something like "we can make it happen"
23.gif

UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM SWEET PEA?!

Now that you are "going public" - are you going to come clean with us as to your REAL identity?
11.gif
31.gif

Also, Natalina - I love your names! Layne is such a great middle name (I feel) because it's so smooth and just flows. You cannot go wrong.

Amber - Love Riley (for a boy) and so cute with Guy. Family names are great.

Clearly, I'm feeling better as I'm BACK on the name train
2.gif

ETA: to those who are 'worried' that they will miss the early labour symptoms...from every account I've heard, there is no mistaking it. I've never been there, obvie, but I'm *positive* that we'll know when we're in early labour
2.gif

Mela, lolol.
I''m pretty sure you already know my *real* identity! But yes... once I find the right time to tell my fam, I will come out of hiding! I almost told yesterday, but the timing wasn''t right... I don''t want to hear bad news from one fam. member and then be like, wow, that sucks, but I''m preggo! So, as soon as the time presents itself!

Mela- You can still have a Taurus!!!! Don''t give up hope, dearie, if anyone can visualize and positive vibe their baby into coming, it''s you! And I don''t think you are silly at all, my baby to be is supposed to be a Leo, which I am totally on board with (2 of my BFF''s are Leos, my DH is a Leo and I am an Aries so I totally dig fire signs). I have had my moments of oh god, what if he comes early and is a Cancer????? Mind you, nothing wrong with Cancers, one of my other BFF''s is a Cancer, but they "tend" to be more sensitive and emotional and I''m so not good with that. So silly, right???? He will be what he will be. Plus I already have a cute Leo onesie AND tons of adorable lion stuffed animals. So I"m with you.

Natalina- Dragged my list and my fave baby name book into work for you today. Swamped right now but when I have a break I am planning on trying to come up with a list for you. So fun since I am not having a girl. I feel like Allison was really popular when I was in jr high/high school, but I haven''t heard it for a baby in forever. Just my 2 cents.

Ebree and Fiery- Oh no, when did the swollen feet start????? My doc checked mine at the last appointment and mine aren''t there yet. Oh the things to look forward to.

Sweet Pea- Congrats on your first appt. My DH was the same, it really took that first appt before it sunk in. Yes, who are you????????

Amber- Seriously with the cousin????? Ok, this may be insensitive of me but the woman has one set of natural twins, plus multiple other sets (by surrogates) so oodles of kids to love but she gets mad hearing about someone else being fortunate enough to ALSO have a child? And if so, why is she telling other people YOUR news? Grrr for you. Oh well, just let it roll off your back. My mom really had her feelings hurt that I didn''t tell her before I told anyone else. In retrospect, I wish I had done things differently, but you can''t control everything.

Pandora, we are thinking of you. Hope to see an update from you soon.

sunkist, taking a trip with a 2 month old is nuts. I wouldn''t have been able to do it. I was still so sleep deprived and out of it. Not to mention it''ll be loud, cold, and crowded there.

I spoke to Pandora yesterday by phone and she is doing terrific, Daisy was exercising her new lungs while we were on the phone and she has a very strong set of pipes...Pandora sounds tired but very very happy and mom and baby are doing just fine. She doesn''t have internet access and she''s trying to relax and recoup anyway so unless she sends me something to post here, you will probably not hear from her for at least a week or more as she is just enjoying getting to know her daughter. I was going to wait until she sent me something to post but when I stopped by here I saw some folks were so concerned, I wanted to let you all know she and Daisy are doing great...

Mela, if you think you''re nuts about wanting a taurus, listen to this one: when we were deciding when to start TTC, DH informed me that he wanted a little mini him complete with the same birthday. I have to say, even though he was (half?) joking, I did pretty good with our timing since we actually have the possibility of this little one being born on his bday. I hope he/she isn''t though because his bday is exactly 2 weeks after my edd!

As far as knowing when you''re in real labor, I think it''s a pretty common thing to worry that you won''t know. At our last Bradley class the other couple was telling us that she''d been in false labor for over a week at that point and they were really worried that they''d have no idea when it was real and they needed to go to the hospital. She finally went into real labor and told our instructor that there was no doubt in her mind about what was going on. I think it''s kind of like that age old question "how do you know when you''re in love?" Well, you just know! You might think you are a few times before it actually happens, but when it happens, you KNOW. Says the girl who''s never been in labor before, lol.

Thank you for posting Surfgirl.

Congratulations on your new arrival Pandora. Wishing you a quick recovery.

When I told my DR that I was afraid I''d be the first woman in the world to not know I was in labor, he said he''d heard that three times already that DAY! So definitely very common. My mom had three kids and the last one was in the car on the way to the hospital...and I always heard her labors were very short (three hours or less)...So I am convinced I''m going to be one of the ones that goes in, and I''m 7cm or something crazy!

Thanks for the update Surfgirl. So happy to hear Padora and Daisy are doing well!!!

Ebree and Fiery- Oh no, when did the swollen feet start????? My doc checked mine at the last appointment and mine aren''t there yet. Oh the things to look forward to.
Hi China

I don''t remember when it started exactly. I know that I would get a day with swollen feet and then it would be gone for a few days before coming back. But now, it seems like my feet are swollen every day. I noticed it in Vegas (about 2 weeks ago).

Whew, thank you, surfgirl. So glad to hear that.

Mela, yeah us Taurus'' are pretty great.

chinacat, my feet did not swell in any of my 3 pregnancy''s. depends on the person and pregnancy I guess. also, swelling can be the result of salt retention so if you do swell you can try cutting back on the salt and see if that helps. my sisters feet looked like elephant legs the last weeks of her pregnancy. if she ate mexican it got even worse. the good news is, they go back down after the baby is born...

Hi Fiery!

MrsSalvo- Thanks for chiming in. That doesn''t bode well for me, seeing as how I love salt and Mexican food AND the last few months of my pregnancy it will be disgustingly hot and humid where I live!

Oh well, guess I will have to wear flip flops to work!

Great to hear about Pandora--I think we are all just so used to instant updates haha. I sure wasn''t able to in my case, but I have friends who updated Facebook right after giving birth...crazy!!!

re: swollen feet, I had them from 30weeks on! And cankles! Good thing it was summer and I could wear flip flops 24/7..even with work clothes.

I will dissent here and say that you might not just KNOW. I was in labor for nearly two days before I knew it - and the only reason I figured it out was because I went to the doc for a scheduled appt. It was for the strep test so I was up in the stirrups. My doc made the weirdest face ever and checked my cervix right then and there. I was already 4cm
23.gif
Needless to say, I was admitted immediately and delivered by wonderful son veeerrrryy early the next morning. My doc said that I obviously had a much higher pain tolerance than most women since I really didn''t seem to be overly bothered by the contractions I was having
33.gif
I think he was just being nice because I am such a baby with pain! Maybe I''m just a freak of nature

If you think that you are in labor then please contact your doctor or midwife! My son was born at 36 weeks, 4 days and we are so blessed because he was perfectly healthy.

I am so glad to hear that Pandora and her Daisy are doing well. Can''t wait to see pics!

hehe, well I thought I was in labor with Jake (and he was my 3rd, so I''d been in real labor 2x before) and went to the hospital only to be sent home less than 2 days b/f I was scheduled to be induced.

surfgirl~Thanks for the update!

Re fear of not knowing when you''re in labor-I had it too. I was induced, though, so I never actually experienced going into labor on my own. I''m sure I''ll probably fear it again with baby number 2!

surfgirl, thanks for the Pandora update. Glad she and Daisy are doing well!!

mela, I wanted a Taurus too. And I got one. And she''s a TRUE Taurus, extremely bullheaded. Be careful what you wish for!!!!!

Regarding knowing when you''re in labor, it was unmistakable for me both times. The first time, the contractions just kept building and building in terms of frequency and pain. There was no pattern to them but I knew exactly what they were and labored at home for a few hours until the pain became too difficult to bear and the baby wasn''t moving as much. We left for the hospital at that point and when I arrived, my water broke. By the time they checked me, I was already 5 cm so I got my epi and gave birth shortly thereafter! With #2, my water broke at home in bed. My doctor had already told me that with subsequent pregnancies, when your water breaks you need to get to the hospital asap! So we hightailed it out of the house immediately and it''s a good thing because by the time we got to the hospital and they finally found a room for me, I was 7-8 cm dilated and DYING for the epidural! I was completely dilated within a short time after that and pushed my baby out in 15 minutes! So even though everyone is different, I think you''ll pretty much know when you''re in actual labor. As long as the contractions don''t stop with walking around and become progressively longer and stronger and closer together, chances are you''re in active labor. Regardless, if you think you''re in labor, just call your doctor and go to the hospital! The worst that can happen is they''ll send you home!!!

Wow... we seem to have the same exact taste in names! I pretty much love all those you listed. I love Avery as well, and am planning to use Layne as a middle name if I have a girl. I love, love, love the name Avery Layne. I think it just flows so well and goes with our last name. I am a little worried that Avery is on a huge upswing right now, though.

I love unisex names for girls, too. Another one I like not on your list is Devon.
