Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

I''m SO jealous...I love the name Amelia. FH nixed it though, because my name is Emily and Amelia is the spanish version.

What about Amelia Liberty?

I think Amelia Indie sounds really nice - and when everyone (as they all will) asks why that''s her middle name, it''s just such the coolest reason ever!!! I love it!!
So one vote for Indie...thanks FG.

Well, I do like that overall her name will be a strong one. I''ve always thought Amelia Earhart was one adventurous woman!

I'm laughing on the July...I am watching 'Lonesome Dove' at the insistence of my boss who LOVES the miniseries. In it, there is a town sheriff named July, but his friend calls him JOOhl-eye. I can't get past the pronunciation!
I was thinking of Miranda July I guess ... it's a cool sounding name ... you know, if you pronounce "July" the *right* way

While I'm not sure how I feel about the name in general, from little Amelia's point of few, it may not be the coolest reason ever. My mother informed me once that I was probably conceived on Christmas day, and being about 12 years old, I was rather grossed out. I've gotten over that mostly, I know that my parents have sex, but I still don't want to think about it. If you do go with Indie, come up with an alternate story of its origins--one that she can tell in middle school without being mortified.

Hm, that is a cool sounding name. OK, it''s on the ballot.

EBree, Liberty is good in theory, but as a mother to a possible daughter, the first thing I thought of is that I do NOT want anyone taking liberties with her!

LOL...well, we can easily say we wanted her to be an independent woman. She wouldn''t know THE reason until she was much older and I had the *talk* with her. So I figure that will be about 25!

What about Amelia Francesca? Francesca means "free".

TGal, I cast my vote in for Amelia Indie, although I probably wouldn''t want to tell her the exact reason behind it just yet :) Anyway, I''ve always like a girl''s name with a masculine feel to it. Also, Indie brings to mind Indiana Jone -- the adventurer. One thing to keep in mind though is how her initials will come out? If your last name starts with a "L", her initials wouldn''t be too great, know what I mean?

TG, I think I like Amelia Indie. I like the idea of doing something a bit different w/the middle name but isn''t too crazy. Plus, I like the ''independent woman'' reasoning. I think the names sound nice together.
Hmmm... trying to think of some other name that comes from independent or what about another ''I'' name if you''re not crazy about Indie.

Tacori, just wanted to say Hi and glad you''re feeling a bit better. I think it''s ok that you''re upset about your hubby being gone. I think that others were right. Men tend not to focus as much on feelings so even if it''s not so likely that you''ll give birth that early, that doesn''t stop it from happening and that doesn''t stop you from wanting him around during that time.
But regardless, I''m glad it''s not bringing you down any longer.
And don''t worry about venting. Sometimes that alone can make you feel better!

Amelia Renee rolls off the tongue very nicely, better than Indie. I don't hate Indie, it just doesn't roll as well.

That being said, middle names are so rarely used, out loud, in real life....

Tgal: LOL...ok...so if Delaney was possibly conceived on New Years Eve, and my best friend found me passed out sitting on the toilet, stone drunk (in my house thank god) what should her middle name be? Delaney Gin, Delaney French75, or Delaney Latrine? It was a big party...I drank too many French75''s...

Just kidding...My parents always told the story of how I was conceived on NYE....It never bothered me. I always said I was a party baby!

I like Amelia Indie the best...its very beautiful....

Soooooooo..........

(drumroll please)

I''m getting induced on Saturday!!!

That is if I don''t go into labor before then. My back is killing me, I''m a big ol'' mess of Braxton Hicks, so who knows.... But my doc thinks I''m a good candidate for induction (and I am so DONE being preggers--- and like Dani said, since I''m 2cm & she didn''t say what I was effaced (but last week I was 1cm & 65% effaced) its straight pitocin & AROM if neccessary. No need for cervical ripening. Oh happy happy joy joy. I also get to maximize my dh''s time off. I get a full two weeks before he has a trip out of town. Whaaahooo!

AND (this part is AWESOME) I get my tubes tied even if I have a vag-delivery!! I didn''t know they could do that. Go in a tiny incision below my belly button! Cool! DH was high-fiving the doctor in her office...he loved that part--no snippy snippy for him.

Thanks Dixie! Venting DOES make me feel better. My SIL actually called and expressed her confusion about WHY DH has to come to Ohio and isn''t it going to be hard to sell a summer home in the fall?!? She thought the whole thing was silly. Nice that she''s on my side!

Diver how exciting! You will be holding Delaney before you know it!!!!

Tgal, I would NEVER want to know when I was concieved (nor do I advertise when our baby was). I love the name Amelia (DH didn''t, it was on my really early list) but am not sure about either middle names.....What about Ruby (birthstone) or Liberty.

Diver, that is AWESOME!!! i know you are just sooooo happy there is a huge light at the end of the tunnel...umm for baby delaney too

ok, soooo cool about getting your tubes tied. my previous dr. wouldn''t do it (although I adored him), he said he just thought women were too swollen etc. right after birth. I''m so hoping my new one, the same one who delivered Lily will. that would just be wonderful for me too b/c we are 1000% sure we are DONE after this baby and since i''ll be 35 with 3, i think they will know i''m not joking and there is NO chance i''d reconsider. my hubby would be high fiving the dr. too, for some reason he just doesn''t like to talk about the snippy snippy although all the men in both of our family''s had it done. i keep telling him any time during this pregnancy would be perfect b/c we wouldn''t have to worry about any uh-oh''s during his 6 week still fertile period. definitely going to check into this more and pray my OB will do it too.

You may have addressed this question before and I just didn''t see it, but, are you sure you want to do something permanent right now? I''m sure you know what I mean.

TGal.......I can see your concern. Amelia Indie doesn''t quite roll off the tongue to me, either.

Someone suggested Amelia Ruby (birthstone), which I like. Other thoughts:

July was named for Julius Caesar......derivative names of Julius include Julia, Julie, and Julee.

Perhaps you could shorten "july" to "Jul" phonetically and go with Amelia Jewel.

The flower for the month of July is Larkspur.

Whoo HOO Diver! I''m so excited for you...can''t wait!

And I''m fairly surprised at how many of you like Indie as a name...and not surprised that the rest of you don''t. LOL. Doesn''t seem like there is a lot of middle ground on this one.

I am going to compile the list of proposed names and see what TGuy thinks at some point.

Alj, I like the "J" sound for a middle name. I had initially thought "Amelia Joy" (because I like joyous people), but then...it sounded a bit too happy for someone as cynical as me.
9.gif

The only other problem with a J name is that if we have a boy and girl, they will have the same initials. The boy''s name will be Aaron James. Aaron because it''s TGuy''s choice and James because that is the middle name that gets passed down to all the first sons.

Amelia DAY?
Amelia BLUE?
Amelia TRUE?

i still like amelia renee. just sign the birth certicate when tguy is out of the room

okay so as someone who has a weird first name, a weird middle name and a weird original last name, don''t saddle ttot with any weird ''so cool to parents but sucks for kids'' kind of names.i can''t tell you how many jokes i got about both my first name and middle name. i don''t know WHAT my mom was thinking other than it sounded cute. so, ixnay on the amelia indie thing IMO.

do i have other ideas? no i''m not that helpful.

just had to pop in and say nooooo to the AI thing. hehee. (it also makes me think of artificial insemination).

LOL Deco..."blue?"

Well, the other option is to name her after a city that has some significance in TGuy''s and my life, since we love to travel and all. But look at the list, it''s awful!

Cesky Krumlov
Hvar
Split
Dubrovnik
Olomouc
Sorrento

No cool names/places like Sydney, London, Siena. His hometown is Adelaide, and that''s been soundly nixed by both of us. Maybe my birthplace? Seoul? Ugh.

Ellen, I never wanted a large family--they kinda freak me out, never have liked them personally.......1 was all I wanted, DH talked me into 2 (I''m happy now, but still think we are nuts for having more than one...LOL). I''m 37 he''s 42, so we are FINITO! My doc approved mine because he knows how much I''ve been through with 2 fibroid surgeries (and possibly another one looming at a later date--once I''ve recovered from labor & delivery) and 2 miscarriages, and my attitude towards more kids... My dh is sure he doesn''t want anymore either. Its not a decision we made lightly, and it just feels right. I''m so excited to have my "baby having" journey BEHIND me. No more miscarriages, morning sickness, big belly, or heartburn. Stick me with a fork, I believe I''m done. And now, no more birth control to keep forgetting to take. Ugh. i''m so bad.

Mrs. Salvo: My ob explained that its performed 6 hours after delivery...the uterus is still nice and high, so its a small incision below the belly button and she can get right in there and snip/cauterize whatever....so my epi catheter will remain in my back until its time. I''m freakin'' thrilled. DH was all for getting a vasectomy, as he said "I''m not excited about it, but we are done having kids, so its the responsible thing to do". Who would be excited about getting their jewels mucked with? So his high five with the doc was pretty damn funny.

Mara: How do you make fun of Mara? That''s a great name. Beautiful name. Mine is Jeannine...oh lordy no one could ever spell/pronounce it. Still can''t.

Diver, I don't believe that is her full name...but I'm not sure. I remember vaguely seeing it on PS in the form of a wedding invitation and thinking it was actually a pretty name. Of course, I could be totally high and just plain wrong...

ETA, Actually, I think I'm on drugs. I can't remember what it was I think I saw...so maybe I'm imagining stuff!

Oh Ellen, if you mean don''t do something permanent in case something happens to one of my children...well....that''s such a somber thought, but I don''t think I could go through getting pregnant, staying pregnant, and all this again just to replace someone. I''m not built like that, and for me I''m just getting too damn old. I''ll just take my chances....I can''t live worrying about the worst case, that kind of thinking weighs me down too heavy.

diver, i think Ellen might have just meant that you shouldn't make the decision to makes things permanant when your are 9 months pregnant because in a year or two you could change your mind and think, well maybe just one more...

kinda like when I had 2 kids 20 months apart I said I was done then and now 3.5 years later we've got the "lets just have one more" baby on the way. Of course, I was 31 when I had Lily and I do think age really makes a huge difference in your thought process. I think when a women over 35 says she's done, she probably seriously means it..

Ellen, wanna clarify??

You guys are cracking me up about bad names! I think I married so young to get rid of my maiden name which rhymes with a common four letter word.

TGal, I love the name Amelia Renee! It is beautiful!
