Steph - Thinking of you. I pray everything is fine with you and your little one!

Steph, I''m thinking about you, sending positive thoughts your way.

Vizla, congrats on (secretly) finding out the sex!

Now that school is out, I have been furiously working on/thinking about the baby''s room. I ordered the Graco Sarah crib in espresso and the Graco Kimberley combo unit from Walmart. I visited USA Baby and their prices were so high, and the Baby Bargains book did not make it sound like it was super important to spend a lot. Plus Mandarine got me panicking about ordering my stuff soon! I also signed up for some birthing classes at the hospital.

DH is doing his part too. He got rid of our friend''s old couch that was in the basement on FreeCycle (amazing what people will come haul away from you for free -- it was ugly and heavy!), so now we can move our comfy red chair down into the basement from the guest room, and move the blah Overstock chair from the office (soon to be nursery!) into the guest room (sorry guests, but you sit down in that room oh so infrequently). Then we''ll move the whole office into the guest room, paint the nursery (light tan/cream/beige . . . I think I''ll know the color when I see it), and refinish an old dresser to match the new furniture as much as possible. The only girly color in the room will be from the bedding and accessories, so I now I''m focusing on that (pink or pink and chocolate).

Guys, what is the consensus on bumper pads? Yay or nay in terms of safety? I''m trying to figure out what to order. I wasn''t planning to buy a quilt since I''ve read it''s too heavy for the baby and you can almost always buy the fitted sheets separately, so I''m thinking I''ll order the pieces I want . . . but a lot of sets only include the bumper in with the 4 or 6 piece set. I''ve only found two in my color scheme that let you buy the bumper separately and have curtains so far:
Lady Bug by Kidsline
Julia by Kidsline
But this is more the design I was looking for (just can''t order the bumper separately and would have to figure out curtains on my own): Petals by Lambs & Ivy

Speaking of curtains . . . I''m no seamstress, nor do I want to be one, so that''s not an option. Very few sets come with curtains. What do you think about getting the cutesy valance and then some plain (pink, cream, white, I don''t know?) curtains to go with them. I''d like curtains (do I even mean curtains or do I mean drapes?) that would block some light. We''ll have a pull-down black-out shade, but the baby''s room will get a lot of light.

Are you ladies doing anything for Father''s Day? I got DH a Flip video camera to film our little one, a cute card (where I''ll cross out "the father you''ve become" and write "the father you''ll become"), and a little onesie that says, "I love Daddy."

DH finally came up with a lovely middle name option for Claire . . . Claire Natalie. No one here suggested it, which I think was probably out of respect for Lindsey. It''s a beautiful name and we''re sort of accidentally calling her "Claire" and "Claire Natalie" without really having deciding on it yet. My sister asked about our other option, Chloe, for her daughter due 4 weeks before mine. We had a good talk about how it really was our second choice at this point, but I was mostly not wanting to give it up since my brother and sister have used up all the other good family names and always meant to leave it to me (until my sister was surprised to find she was carrying number 3), but of course on the other hand I wouldn''t want my sister to forgo using that name just so I could use it *if* I have another girl one day. So both our baby''s name and whether or not my sister really wants to use Chloe are up in the air; there''s still plenty of time to decide.

My sister told me that had her last baby been a girl, she and her husband were set on naming her "Abrah." I said that was a pretty sounding name, until my sister pointed out that kids would probably call her "a bra" at some point in her life, which got me laughing uncontrollably. Oh dear.

I had some really bad luck ordering maternity stuff from Target, Old Navy, and the Gap, so I returned it all and went out yesterday and got some new stuff. I''ve always needed "curvy" pants, and that problem is really biting me now that I''m putting on my extra weight exactly where it always goes first . . . the butt and thighs. The saleslady in Motherhood warned me that the medium pants I was buying would stretch, but I assured her that my butt was certain to keep on growing. I had to buy a large bathing suit bottom there too to go with my small top, and I know, woe is me, boohoo and all that, but I was wearing a size 0 six months ago. What is all this crap about how you just "buy your prepregnancy size" in maternity clothes?

I never thought I''d have body image concerns during pregnancy. I thought the knowledge that I was creating my sweet child would do away with all vanity or self-concern. How naive! I know it''s really not that bad, but I''m realizing that at 22 weeks people still can''t tell I''m obviously pregnant (I saw some friends of friends on Sunday who seemed genuinely surprised to hear I was pregnant). I might just be dumpy with a weird stomach. The baby seems to be riding low, so instead of a symmetrical(ish) bump mine is shaped more like a nose . . .

Steph
I am thinking of you. Hope the u/s gives you good news. Lots of sticky dust.

Cara
Congratulations!!! Hope you get to have a u/s at your 1st appointment. Every dr and insurances are different. For my first pregnancy, my OBGYN did u/s for my first 3 appointments, then I got the big u/s at a radiology clinic, and then he did 2 more u/s in the 3rd trimester. I am hoping I''ll get that many for this pregnancy also.

Mandarine
Bummer about not being able to the squares on the wall. I wanted to do squares or horizonatal stripes for M''s nursery, but DH said it was too much work. He is probably right, but it looks so nice. I love all the stuffs you picked out for the nursery, very modern.

Robbie
Maybe the BH extending to the back means something. I didn''t feel a lot of BH the last time, but I think I was just clueless to what I was feeling.

Phoenix
Sounds like you guys got a lot done.
I am anti-bumper pad, except the breathable ones. All we got for M was fitted sheets and the sheet saver beforehand. We got the breathable bumper later on when she started moving all over and pushing her paci out of the crib.

To everyone else
Sorry I didn''t get a chance to respond to you. I am looking forward to seeing your belly pics for BPF tomorrow.

Steph please update us as soon as you can! You and your bean are in my thoughts and prayers.

Nothing new to update over here. Other than I''m 19 weeks today! I''m almost halfway done! It''s so crazy. I''ve also been more tired lately. It was really bad the first 10 weeks but kinda went away until today. I nearly fell asleep at my desk today at work!

Hey, girls. Quick update before I go to bed early tonight...it has been a really long day. Anyway, we did the ultrasound this afternoon and saw the baby. The little one was doing just fine in there and the heartbeat was really strong at 150. She saw no signs of any trouble. Now I just have to do the other bloodwork and get those results Mon. Thanks again for all the support, you guys are awesome!

ETA: Thank you for all the stories people posted about similar things happening, it really makes me feel better to know others have gone through this and their little ones were fine. I am just super nervous, because this is the point the miscarriage happened last time.

Steph- so glad to hear all looked well at your ultrasound. I will continue to keep you in my thoughts. I hope you have a peaceful night and all is better in the morning.

Pheonix- I am 24 weeks today and people just started commenting that I'' getting a bump about a week ago, so I know what you mean. I also know what you mean about having body issues in spite of the wonderful, miraculous process going on inside your body! Miracles are great, but my butt is still big and that doesn''t make it any easier to be proud of it!
2.gif
Oh- and i love the name Natalie (you might guess that I am a bit biased from my screenname!)

Robbie- ooooohhhh....I hope your back pains mean something! I can''t wait to ''meet'' another beautiful PS baby!

EBree- hoping all is well and thinking of you! Did you sneak off to have your little guy?!?!?!?

Cara- I''m a bit late, but congrats and WELCOME!

As for me, all is good. Feet have started swelling a bit by the end of a long day of standing/walking- booo... And I have really been feeling a lot of stretching the past few days. Me thinks baby girl is going through a growth spurt! This whole process is crazy! And I am in Dreamer''s camp, for sure- I really don''t think it will be real for me until the baby is actually here. How radically our life is about to change (in less than 4 months!) is still such a foreign concept.

Steph, great that baby seems to be doing fine! I had spotting/bleeding a few times throughout first tri and really light spotting a time or two in second tri, so I know how nerve wracking it can be! But it sounds like you might just be one of us lucky ones who has to deal with it even though nothing is wrong.

Fiery, your dh sounds so sweet! I think it''s totally normal to be nervous though! I know I am!

Lysser, I failed the one hour too but passed the 3 hour (just barely though). Hopefully you will too! Definitely bring something to do during it (I graded papers and got an entire section of final essays done!).

Phoenix, I definitely wouldn''t bother getting a bumper pad if it wasn''t part of a set that you absolutely wanted. I was hoping to do separates, but had trouble finding a crib skirt that I liked that wasn''t part of a set (and I wanted one with a matching valance too) so I ended up getting a set. I might use the bumper at first but stop once he is moving, and I also got one of the breathable bumpers for later if I need it. As for curtains, I think a cute valance with solid neutral curtains would be lovely if you want more window coverage. Just make sure the curtains aren''t too long for when the baby starts to crawl/walk!

I''m definitely in a bummer of a mood tonight. We had our first Navy function tonight, and while it was kinda fun and I did meet/talk to 2 girls that were really nice, I met dh there, we went, I immediately started talking to other so''s while dh talked to his classmates. We drove home separately. I stopped for dinner at Wendy''s (by the way, I TOTALLY recommend the coffee toffee twisted frostee!) while dh didn''t want any. He was on the phone when I came in and ate. He has a killer headache and has to get up at like 4:30 tomorrow, so he didn''t walk the dog with me, and now he''s already wanting to go lay down. I''d go with him, but the bed is sooo uncomfortable if I''m in it for too long, so I try to avoid it until I''m actually ready to go to sleep, which I totally am not. Basically I just miss my husband, and I feel like I haven''t talked to him all day, and it makes me super sad because I know this is just the beginning...he is going to be so crazy busy this year. Oh well, thanks for letting me vent!

hi to all my preggo friends
35.gif

Blushing- was wondering if u picked an ob and if u were still planning on delivering at NYPH?

Steph~Just wanted to pop in and say I''m so happy to hear that everything is okay!!!

Hello to all the other preggos! I can''t possibly keep up with all the threads but I hope you''re all doing well and I''ll be popping in tomorrow for belly pic Friday!

So happy to hear that everything is okay Steph! I love that baby was in there like all "What''s all the fuss about?"

Steph
Glad everything looks good at the u/s. Keep us posted.

Fiery
It REALLY is a different feeling once you have the baby in your arms. Girl, put your feet up and rest.

Sabine
Sorry you haven''t been able to spend time with your hubby.

Glad all is well Steph!! That''s great news.

Glad to hear things are going well Steph!

And Blushing, I missed your news! Congratulations! I am so happy for you - I know it is long awaited!!

Steph - glad things look okay!

Cara & Blushing - seem to have missed you guys but HUGE belated congratulations to you both!

I second DD''s comment on not believing you''re actually having a baby until they arrive. Up till then I was just being pregnant - despite the kicks and the visible feet outlines and was just going into hospital to be deflated.

To be honest even now I will keep looking at her and feeling like maybe I''ve just borrowed her and how weird it is that I actually have a baby! Maybe if I''d always been maternally minded I would feel different, but I''d never quite imagined me with a baby - probably doesn''t help that my parents keep saying how they still can''t even though she''s here!

Hi, guys! Just wanted to thank you all again for all your kind words and support yesterday. I just kind of freaked out and thought bleeding = miscarriage because of last time, so I was very excited to see the little bean swimming around in there all nice and healthy looking. This baby is already worrying it''s Mommy

.

I went to bed super early last night and got some good sleep, but woke up at 2 am with morning sickness. I guess that is a good sign, right? I wasn''t hungry at all last night and only managed to eat a few chicken nuggets from a kid''s meal, so I made myself a piece of toast at 2 and that seemed to do the trick. I am going to try to get myself up and out of the house to go look for a Father''s Day gift for hubby today. Hope everyone has a great day today!

PHEW! Glad to hear everything is ok Steph! I too had blood red bleeding and heavy brown spotting from 13w - 16w. SCARY. But it was just a little bleed in my Ute. Baby was totally fine.

Um, SCUZE ME...where are the belly pics?!

DON''T MAKE ME POST MY SICK POST-PARTUM SPONGE BELLY!!!!

T-gal and Pandora - thank you so much for the warm wishes!!!! I've been following along with your journies as well and you both have beautiful daughters! Amelia and Daisy are absolutely precious!!!!!

Steph - I'm so glad that everything is OK - you must be so relieved!

NYC - I have my first ultrasound scheduled with my RE on July 2nd. She's currently on vacation, but I was told by her nurse that she will recommend an OB for me and yes, I definitely want to deliver at NYPH. Do you have any you would recommend?

Cara - keep me posted on when your ultrasound is. I would love to compare notes after we've both had ours.

BB- if u look up the ob team of nyph online u can see all the docs there I believe...my doc''s initials are RK (duno if we allowed to post names here) but I was seen by all the docs in the practice...I would find out which doc has the schedule most convienant for u...my ob only saw pts on weds n thurs...so make sure u find that out before pickin a doc but they are all great there! Keep us updated ;)

Steph I''m so glad its ok!

Steph, glad to hear everything''s ok!

Ebree, I hope everything''s ok!

NYCSparkle, you still hanging in there?

Have we heard from Ebree since she dropped off her pee jug?

It''s craziness at work (and home) so this will have to be a short post.

Yesterday''s appointment went well. I''m 1 cm, 30% effaced, cervix still posterior, but I wasn''t dilated at all last week so I''m pretty excited. I know it doesn''t mean anything about when labor will actually start, but it makes me feel like my body is doing something with all these BH. GBS test came back negative, so no antibiotics needed during labor! Woohoo!

I was having a ton of contractions yesterday to the point where I told DH that he needed to start timing them when we got home. When we got home and I sat down though they pretty much stopped. Go figure. Guess they were from being really active/on my feet more than normal. I did have some super light spotting yesterday, but it could''ve just been from the internal. I''ve never spotted from an internal before though so I was kind of holding out hope that it was bloody show. BP was up a bit, but nothing that they were concerned about. I think I''m definitely swelling more now though because I was also up 4 lbs from last week. I know I''ve been eating a lot of junk, but 4 lbs in a week is insane.

DH found out yesterday that he has cellulitis in his finger. They gave him oral antibiotics and told him that if it''s not getting better in 2 days to come back because then he''ll need IV antibiotics in the hospital.
8.gif
I looked at it this morning and I thought it looked worse, but he thought it felt better. I took a picture of it and told him if it looks worse when I get home he''s going straight back to urgent care. I know that it might take another day for the antibiotics to really start working, but I still don''t think it should be getting worse during that time. Of course, I''m not a dr, so I could be wrong, but I''d rather be safe than sorry. I looked it up on WebMd and it definitely freaked me out.

Here''s my 37w6d belly pic. I think I look a lot bigger than last week. I feel a lot bigger too.

Anyone who wants a simple tracking system for contractions - I used this and found it way better than any clock. You also have a print-out option to take to the hospital...

Hahaha! I felt so strange that I thought the same thing with Amelia. I figured that feeling would go away, but now, nearly 15 months later, sometimes I still do think she''s rent-a-kid. I still can''t see myself raising this child into adulthood. How strange that it is still a foreign concept to me? So Pandora, don''t feel bad if that weird feeling sticks for awhile.
3.gif
It probably makes sense for me because Amelia just doesn''t look Korean and I look at pics of both of us and it just doesn''t match up!

Thanks BB!

Robbie, you are a cute pregger, and tiny, which I figured you''d be!

Hi everyone! Can''t write much (typing one-handed) but I wanted to let you all know I had my baby! I was induced yesterday and Henry was born at 1:21 AM this morning. 6 lbs, 15 oz, 21 in. long, head full of hair. Absolutely adorable. I''ll return with photos and more deets later. Hope everyone else is doing well!

Congrats Ebree!!
