Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Thanks, Pandora!

China, it hasn''t been unbearably hot here yet. It''s supposed to go up to 84 today. Luckily I don''t have to go outside much. I''d LOVE to go swimming right now though. Being weightless sounds amazing. When did your doc cut you off from travel? I was allowed to travel until I hit 35 weeks. That went for both cars and planes. I drove 6 hours each way at 34 weeks and was ok. Sorry you were grumpy. I definitely have days like that too. I really want to see The Proposal. We saw Year One this weekend. It was pretty funny, but there were definitely some gross parts I could''ve done without. I want to see The Hangover too. I feel like there are so many things I want to squeeze in before baby comes, but I have no idea why. I''ve seen more movies in the last few months than I have in the last few years. We usually just rent blu-rays and watch them at home because people in theaters tend to annoy me.

Mela, I''ve got to agree with China, you DO look a lot like Greenlee from AMC! I watched that show for years until I went off to college.

Hi everyone!

First off congratulations to Ebree and welcome Henry! I’m thrilled for you and hope you guys are doing well!! Can’t wait to see the pictures and hear the story.

I’m being a bad PSer I need to catch up with everyone and am going to try to do that some time today or tomorrow.

I have some baby progress news and then a complete Debbie Downer/pity party/TMI/PSA post.

Baby is doing really well. I was 1cm, 50% effaced last week. Today I am 3cm, still 50% effaced, -2 station. Doctor tells me not to get excited before the internal and then she got really excited that I was 3cm without having any contractions. So I don’t know what to think lol. We are full term today! Yay! We also have a breastfeeding class this evening that I’m really looking forward to.

The trip to Orlando went really smoothly except for (Debbie downer part) I noticed I have hemorrhoids. I called the midwife who recommended Prep H but it did nothing for me. I called back and she recommended the Tucks pads which really helped but by then it was so irritated that it just bled, a lot. I spent all of Saturday/Sunday in tears over the pain. My OB prescribed some medication for me today which I dropped off and need to pick up tomorrow. I feel better than on Saturday but it is still really difficult for me to stand up and sit on my own.

The whole experience though has completely changed my original “birth plan” (if you really want to call it that). I realized my tolerance for pain is really low and couple that with my OB telling me that I *will* experience hemorrhoids both during the labor and after (she prescribed 5 months worth of the medication) we’re talking epidural. It made me really sad and upset but at the same time I still feel grateful to have had such a smooth pregnancy.

So the PSA part (after talking to your doc of course) is that if you are suffering even from mild constipation then I would highly recommend investing in the Tucks pads (in addition to the diet/water/exercise of course). You can use them instead of using regular toilet paper and it helps prevent things like hemorrhoids from happening in the future.

My face has been on permanent

status ever since Friday. I know it’s TMI but such is the beauty of pregnancy.

I’m going to log back on later so that I can rest. But I want to send labor dust to NYCSparkle and to Robbie!

Hi ladies!!! Sorry I missed BPF! You all look great!!!!!!!!

Mela & Sabine I just read that mela recommended Calendula...I would do a little reserach because I did some minor reserach in the 1st tri when I was sufferign from bad dermitits and thought maybe calendula would help...I actually foind it was NOT recommended. Just thought I would point that out.

Robbie you're so close!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the belly is getting cuter and cuter!!

Sunkist You are a knockout!!!!!!! I had a "bump" like that before being pregnant...hehe. You look a-m-a-z-i-n-g woman!

NYC Almost there!!! Keep us posted!

Peony Just because you have nobody on team Blue..I'll say team Blue!

China Sorry I missed your decal posts!...where you looking for this one?: http://www.whatisblik.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=B&Product_Code=TH-132
The guy that used that in his nursery is my hero...I love that nursery!. That's where I saw the one with the kids on the swings that i think i will definitely use in my nursery...(http://www.walltat.com/Kids-on-Swing-Wall-Decal-p/rf-%203.26.htm )

As for me...

Other than getting bigger by the minute, I am doing pretty well!. Went to BRUs this weekend and started registering...whoa it's confusing...so much to choose from!!! How did you guys narrow things down in terms of brands, etc??

Today we had an ultrasound and the boys were kicking it up! One was doing some stretches...almost touching his head with his feet! haha...so precious
5.gif

I do have some questions:

- Crib Matress: How/what did you choose?. Does it really matter? with so many options and such a huge price range I'm very confused!
- Monitors (specially for twin mommies, but really a question for everyone!!!!): Did you get one with video or without?. I'm thinking without is better, but wanted to know what everyone thought. Also, any recommendations?
- Bottles: Any recommendations? I plan to BF, but want to be ready for Plan B if that doesn't go well...

Thanks!

Fiery, sorry to hear about the hemorrhoids. Glad to hear your trip went smoothly and I''m totally jealous that you''re 3cm and 50% effaced! I hope I''ve made some progress at my appointment on Thursday! I have a feeling you''re going to go before me.

Mandarine, we got the Sealy Baby Soft Premium mattress. It was recommended in Baby Bargains and fits snugly inside the crib we both have. I pretty much relied on Baby Bargains to choose what we registered for. It was all so overwhelming, and the book made it much easier. I also looked at the online reviews at BRU. We got the Graco i-monitor. It''s sound only and was actually not the top recommendation in the book, but we liked that it''s digital so our neighbors won''t be able to pick up sounds from our house. For bottles we went with an Avent BPA free starter set.

Thank you Robbie!!! I guess maybe I should buy that book!

Fiery I am so sorry to hear that!!!

Robbie- 84 sounds heavenly right about now! And I would die for a pool. We wanted a house with a pool but didn't end up with one.
8.gif
Must make friends with someone that has a pool! Not sure about travel- she said 33 or 34 weeks for flying, but didn't specify driving. I want to go around 35 weeks, so I'm thinking it should be fine, assuming my next appt everything is ok. I totally agree about people in theatres, but I am not a big DVD/Blu Ray fan, I like to watch my movies on the big screen. Kind of a problem though since I tend to get really worked up about all of the rude people when I do go. Probably why DH doesn't like to go!

Fiery- Aw, girl, so sorry that you are in so much pain. Thanks for the PSA- I actually was going to ask my own TMI question on this subject: I started taking iron pills and it definitely has me constipated. But I haven't actually "gone" in about a week, which is worrying me. Any tips from anyone to get things moving?

Fiery (again)- But yay for being 3 cm already! That's 3 cm you won't have to do while in active labor. And don't be bummed about deciding you need the epi- better to have decided ahead of time. Whatever you can do to make this easier and peaceful for you, do it. I know I've talked about trying to avoid the epi, but not so sure that I will be able to hold out IRL. Any more progress on names?

Mandarine- Yes, that's it! And how great is that guy. Love that room. Thank you! As for BRU- well, it's just plain overwhelming. A friend of mine went with me and she just told me what to register for and I did.
3.gif
End of story. Then I had a few other mommy friends go over it and tell me if they would change anything and I tweaked it a bit. So to be honest, not really sure what I'm getting or why, but I figure I have too many other things to worry about. I did end up registering for the video monitors- only b/c our nursery is upstairs and we are downstairs. If your nursery is nearby, I probably wouldn't get the video. As for bottles, apparently all babies like different ones.
14.gif
I registered for Dr. Brown's (I think!) but lots of people have recommended the A ones (Avaya? Aveeno???).

ETA: Robbie got it- it was Avent bottles.

Yes! The other day a girl at work brought her baby in and everyone was trying to get me to hold the baby....That was the day I got sent home early for having the worst morning sickness I had had in a long time. I was up and down at work for about 2 hours running to the bathroom. I sorta freaked a bit and was like "Don''t give me the baby!" everyone thought I was a freak show until I explained that I had to keep running to the bathroom.

But seriously, just because I''m pregnant doesn''t mean I want to hold your baby!

Just a slight vent, nothing major. We live in an apartment. This means we get one assigned parking space which is right next to the elevator to our apartment and the other person has to park in the resident spot which is normally a good 3-5 minute walk from our apartment elevator. My sister and I have been waiting to see how long it will be until my lovely husband decides to stop taking the closer parking spot and leaving me to walk my pregnant butt all the way to the apartment. I''m almost 20 weeks--and he still takes it every night (Unless I beat him home--which is extremely rare). I know I should just stop playing this silly little private game because it''s getting to the point where I come home with the worst attitude because he just doesn''t get it. I know if I said something he would stop parking there---but there''s this sick something in me that just wants to wait it out and see how long it takes before he gets a clue why I come home in a bad mood everynight.

Anyways...maybe I should stop taking a sex poll and instead change it to see when you all think I will get the closer parking spot. I''m guessing 40 weeks!

Hi everyone! Another quick check in from me- thank you all so much for your words of congratulations. I wish I could address each and every one of you, but I''m either on breast duty, eating or sleeping. Since Henry was born at 37w1d, he was just over what''s considered premature, even though he had a nice birth weight, so nursing is a bit more challenging. It''s working, though, which is great.

I''ll try to check back in when I have some more time, and next time I''ll come with a photo or two and a little bit about the birth. I hope you''re all doing well, and I can''t wait to hear from NYC, Robbie, and Fiery in the next weeks!

Ebree,
He's soooo precious, what a cute little face. Congrats Momma!!!

Ebree--Henry is a little sweetheart!! Congrats!!!!

Mandarine--i think someone else asked about diaper genies etc. a while back and most of us moms agreed they are a waste of money. Just a good washable plastic garbage can with a lid is the best bet. Change the bag each day, sprinkle in a bit of baking soda and you are good to go.

Ebree he''s so beautiful!!!! Congratulations again!!
