Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Vizla - There are chin-up machines? That is so cool! One of these days, I need to join a gym and discover the glorious world of actual work-out equipment. I just use a bar across my hallway, so there''s no way to modify how much weight I''m lifting (other than dieting, I guess, which is out for the next 6 months
17.gif
). I''d sort of been looking forward to getting stronger and stronger as I gained, until I realized that maybe this might be against the rules ....

ChinaCat, thanks - I called my doc. to ask, and I have the sneaking suspicion that it was the first time this had ever come up for them, so I''m waiting for them to get back to me. I hope it *is* okay, just because I''ve always *liked* being strong, dangnabit ... but I do *not* want to take any chances with the baby. So until they call me back, or I head otherwise from some authority on here, I will def. be taking it easy ....

Oh, and all the ladies mentioning the constipation/hemorrhoids things ... these are both probably really obvious tips, but in addition to water, an apple a day (is so cliche! ... but true), and as much Metamucil as is recommended (I think it''s 3 cups a day ...) both help a lot. Am hoping they continue to be effective throughout the pregnancy

Hubby says the no heavy lifting is to avoid spontaneous delivery due to putting stress/pressure on the womb. Imagine bracing your midsection to pick up heavy box. I fail to see how doing chin-ups would put massive pressure on your midsection. But probably clear this with your doc first - hubby''s not an OB and we didn''t look this up. The recommendation might also be related to the extra flexibility hormones of pregnancy - you don''t want to injure yourself if certain joints are not as tight as they once were. In that vein, while you are supposed to be able to keep doing activity you have been doing, you might need to back off things like serious weightlifting. If you use a trainer, maybe talking to them in combination with your drs recommendations would be a good idea.

Yeah, drinking. I lasted about an hour on Sunday (first night of conference) before getting harassed for my lame-o beverage choice. So I got a beer and sipped a bit of it over the next few hours. Didn''t really want to do that all week so last night I got a beer with a dark bottle, found an empty bathroom, dumped it down the toilet, refilled it with water and walked that around for a few hours. Of all the ridiculousness. Don''t know if that will be possible tonight as we''ll be out on the town. I''ll have to figure out how to order facsimiles of alcoholic drinks at the bar without anyone else around. China, your drink switching with hubby is a great idea; maybe that will help later on but I''m on my own this week. If it was just social friends maybe I would cave, but these are work friends and its just way too early.

Anchor, sorry the back is acting up. Boo.

Vizsla- I like Wes(ley) from your list. I don''t think its the best idea to pick a name when you don''t like the nickname, as you will have a hard time completely controlling the variations once your kid goes to school.

Firey- it seems things always get bad in that last month. Nature''s way of convincing you its time for baby to come out. Hope you can find some temporary relief.

China, do you have some extra special reason for needing the extra iron? I''m forgetting if Pandora''s recommendation was specific to some pregnant women or all preggos?

We''re back! Actually I''m already to work, had to run to the office right away after the appt. But we had a great ultrasound appt!

Looks like we got a lot of votes for Girl! My whole family except for my brother was guessing Girl too. BUT, it''s a BOY!!!!

He was so active and I think he''s absolutely adorable from what you can see from an ultrasound! Cliff is thrilled to have a son! :) Here are some pics!

Hey, I cropped my info off these before I posted but for some reason it didn't take! Oops! Can administration help white that out? Oh well.

ETA:

Thanks Fierry!!!

Hey, girls. Well, I am 8 weeks today. So exciting that things seem to be better. I have been EXTREMELY sick the past few days, but I guess this is a good sign, so I'm trying to suck it up. I'm starting to get a bump now (although really it just looks like I ate way too much). I couldn't take dealing with a zipper anymore, so I went out and got some jean capris with a stretch band waist...whew, much better! Anyway, I should hear something about my bloodwork soon to see if the levels doubled or not, so I will update you guys on that soon. Hope everyone is having a great day!

Robbie, oh my you have the urge to clean....it's going to be time soon! Good luck!!

Blushing, doesn't the first trimester go by so slow??? What day is your ultrasound? I bet you are so excited!

Mandarine, I got the diaper genie with my first and it seemed to work for a little while, and then it didn't work at all and I had to throw it out and just get a regular one. I wouldn't waste money on it.

Radiant, thank you for the well-wishes. You are getting so close! Exciting!

Phoenix, love all your choices. I am going with pink/brown or blue/brown and think it looks lovely. I think if I have a girl, we are going to keep the room a natural tan color it is and then just do the accents like you.

Sunkist, so exciting!!

Anchor, sorry about the back pain and I hope the puking stops really soon...it sucks big time!

Indy, I would totally do the same thing if I found my bedding on that much of a sale. You can always save it for later! It's really cute!

Circe, I have changed up my routine at the gym and basically cut my weight lifting in half. I am doing really light weights. I'm not sure about lifting your own body weight though. I would just ask the doctor next time.

Vizsla, great name list!

China, sorry for your problem. Glad you feel better.

Cara, good luck with your drink switching. That is hard, I would do the same thing with work people.

sunkist, congrats! Welcome to team blue!

Sunkist! Congrats on team blue! Also, I was right again! Yay! Our u/s is two weeks from today, so I think I'll be joining you! Have you thought of any boy names?

ETA: I think I voted double girls for Peony a while ago. So, peony: girls for you!!

Indy, love the bedding!!. I love white&black damask (my DIY wedding invitations were damask, but I have to agree with your DH about it not really going in a baby''s room...my reasoning though is that you may get sick of it!....because I got sick of my own design for the wedding! lol

Sunkist, welcome to team BLUE!!! Yay!!! And what a cute profile!!!!!!

Anchor, sorry about the back pain! I hope it gets better soon!!!

Viz - Great names!!

Amber you''re good! Did you vote boys for me? I can''t remember....

***

I have been in baby''s registry hell and back. Oh my Lord!!!. I got done with a few sections, but still got some to go. I figured worse case scenario I can always return something if it''s not what I thought. I find it easier doing the registry thing online rather than at the store...just because of the reviews, etc...

Other than that...just enjoyed some watermelon. How yummy is watermelon!!!?
18.gif
YUUUUMMMMMMOOOOOO!! I''ve had a minor obsession with watermelon lately...I just love it, so juicy, so good...just yummm

Cara- Yep, last appointment discovered I''m now anemic so have to take extra iron supplements.
14.gif
I haven''t had any issues until I started taking them. They are slow release and supposed to help alleviate constipation, but I guess not. As for the drinking thing, it''s tricky. Best trick is just go to bar and order a drink yourself (cranberry juice/tonic or whatever). Also, non-alcoholic beers aren''t too bad at all- Beck''s and St. Pauli''s girl make a pretty good one. Order one and have them pour it in a glass. No one will know.

Sunkist- Yay for Team BLUE! There''s a ton of us with little boy parts baking.

Circe- What Cara says makes sense. I have kept up with my pilates and weight-lifting pretty easily to my surprise. I definitely do lighter weights and don''t really do ab stuff in pilates anymore- like crunches. But you can do abs on the balls. Just be careful! Interested to see what your doc says, you are right, I don''t think there are many girls that have chin bars!!! Reminds me of Karate Kid for some reason.

Radiant
Time flies. I remember when you announced your pg. It’s hard, but try to relax and just enjoy the time you have before the baby gets here b/c it’ll get hectic. Hehe. I was not dilated up until my 39 weeks appt, and I ended up giving birth three days after the appt (4 days before EDD).
Phoenix
Your ladybug wall art reminds me of M’s birthday invitation. So cute.
Blushing
Oh it’s hard waiting for the 1st ultrasound, especially if you are keeping the secret until then. That’s why I have to announce my BFP on here, so I can let some excitement out. We still haven’t announced to our friends yet.
Sunkist
Cute u/s pics of your little boy.

Mandarine, I voted double blue for you!

Yea!!! The doctor''s office just called and said the ultrasound came back great and the bloodwork was within normal range. I can''t tell you how relieved I am!! Thanks again for all the good thoughts!

Yay Steph!! What a relief.

Yay Steph!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy for you!!!!!!!!!!!!

That little bean is growing and growing and growing!

China - You only NEED to take them if your hb level is below 10 - reason being that if you haemmorhage it makes it way worse if you are anaemic. If your haemoglobin levels are fine then you might want to skip the iron - or take a bit less and down it with orange juice as it helps your body absorb it better.

Anchor - Sorry about the back pain. I just kept going on the usual meds I was on - Daisy did need monitoring after the birth as I was a pretty large dose of opiates and she would have become dependant. So, I spent a whole week in hospital - she was a bit irritable on the second night and third day and had a teeny amount of oral morphine that day and then she''s been fine ever since. The neonatologists were very happy with her condition - ie no problems at all.

Great news, Steph!!!!
36.gif

Phoenix - I really like that bedding, and don''t think it would be too much if the walls aren''t pink as well.

Circe - I kept lifting weights until I was 37 weeks along. I stopped at that point because I felt like it was doing a number on my hips, but I think I could have continued with upper body if I had wanted. I was just really careful with form, because joints are more relaxed and easier to injure during pregnancy. I also stopped when I was on bed rest (obviously), but when I was taken off bed rest, the OB said I could lift whatever I felt like. I''d definitely listen to your body though. I had to halve the amount of weight I lifted in the first tri because I was just so tired, but was able to increase it some again later.

Viszla - I love all of your name options (except Nolan, but that''s purely for personal associations). For me, it would just boil down to whatever sounds the best with your last name.

Sunkist - congrats on a boy!

yay steph!!! thats great news and must be a huge relief.

still no progress for me, but lots of cramping so maybe soon......we''ll see what the doc says on thursday.

hopefully everyone feels well.

mandarine...congrats on team blue...little boys are the best..they love their mommies like no one else

Ebree - Henry is SCRUMPTOUS! Enjoy that little bundle.

China and Robbie - HILAR on Greenlee. I can see that resemblance and I''ll take it! Thanks for the compliment.

Gotta go, evenings are my sleep time (DH cares for Romeo), and then I''m on the all-night duty.

Ebree~He''s absolutely precious!!

Sunkist- Congratulations on your little boy you are baking! How exciting!

Steph- so relieved to hear your levels are doubling and baby bean is baking away just fine. Phew, what a relief and blessing!

Vizsla- love the names. Wesley is my favorite on your list.

Phoenix- the ladybug theme is SOOOOO cute! I was just loading up at Gymboree's big summer sale yesterday and they have some really cute outfits with pick ladybugs that I couldn't resist.

Amber- I am so excited to find out if your gutis right about you having a boy. Especially because I felt that way and was wrong.

China- does your prenatal have a stool softener? Mine does, and it makes a HUGE difference. Hope your 'situation' eases up!

As for me, all is well. 25 weeks today. Feeling pretty good. Still trying to come up with names. Anyone want to help? Here's the current list for our 'lil girl. Nickname is in parentheses because it is a big part of our decision

Emerson (Emme)
Ellis (Ellie)
Tessa (hmmm...?)
Laine (Lanie)
Kennedy (Kenny maybe? This would be in honor of DH's grandpa)

Middle name will hopefully be Lake (unless we go with Laine- then would probably be Elise). Not sure 'the one' is in our list yet. Would LOVE additional suggestions! Last name is very German, starts with B and rhymes with Honor. 3 1/2 months to figure it out! Really just want a bigger list of choices at this point. We'd like to have 3 names we love and then choose once we see her sweet little face.

Natalina, I LOVE Emerson Laine! So cute! I also like Kennedy especially if it is a family name. Great choices!

natalina - LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE emmerson! love it! and love emme! it was on my tiny list for girls... along with ellis! love love love those names to bits!

hooray steph!

blen! good to see you, thanks for the name compliments! you always have such great suggestions.

congrats sunkist on team blue! we could start our own football team with the blue mommies on this thread
9.gif
at least we will have a good support system - because i know NOTHING about boys... nothing
11.gif

ohhh, had my first pre-natal yoga class last night and it was heaven! i learned how to sit properly (sounds so silly doesn''t it? .. but her techniques make all the difference!) AND how to sleep on my side without getting a sore hip... it requires no less than 4 pillows and a towel
3.gif
. after i got all situated in bed last night using my new sleeping knowledge DH says something to me like "what, no kiss goodnight?" and i just kind of give him this look like "ummmm you watched me ''nest'' for 15mins you can come over here"... sheesh. OH the instructor said something i thought was interesting ... i don''t know if i believe her but ya never know... she said that the hormones a pregnant woman produces equals the amount of hormones a non-pregnant woman would produce in 100 years. so if we feel like crying, we should :P
oh, we also had to go around the room and tell everyone how far along we were, if we had anything specific we wanted to work on etc. and i realized that i must have an extremely long torso (it also doesn''t hurt that DH isn''t a big guy) b/c i felt like i didn''t look half as pg as some of the other girls who were weeks behind me. i know it''s stoooopid to compare ourselves that way, but it got me thinking... ''gosh i hope the little guy isn''t too little'' .....
37.gif

Natalina, I like Emerson/Emme too.

Vizla, I know what you mean about comparing yourself to other pregnant ladies. You really can''t win either way because you either think, "Ugh, I''m huge, I look two more months pregnant than I am . . . what will I look like at 9 months????" or "Oh no, people still can''t tell I''m pregnant, how annoying that they just think I''m a little pudgy," or "Why have I gained all the weight in my butt and not my belly?"
2.gif

Yesterday at Pottery Barn Kids the saleslady told me there would be new bedding coming in in July/August. Then she looked suspiciously at my belly and said, "Um, you''re not, um, pregnant, are you?" I understand that many women gain weight in their bellies, but I don''t (thighs), so I would never, ever look like this if I weren''t pregnant. I feel obviously pregnant. But then I get comments like that, and I try to remember that people are just trying to avoid the awful situation where they assume someone is pregnant who''s just carrying weight there, but come on people I had a nice toned belly before and this big bump is a baby!!!!

Plus you don''t know if those other women have other kids and are showing sooner as a result, or if they already had bigger bellies to begin with. My friend only gained 20 pounds (I know, let''s all beat her up) and they were worried her baby would be underweight, but she was 7 pounds plus.
