Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

ohhh, had my first pre-natal yoga class last night and it was heaven! i learned how to sit properly (sounds so silly doesn''t it? .. but her techniques make all the difference!) AND how to sleep on my side without getting a sore hip... it requires no less than 4 pillows and a towel
3.gif
. after i got all situated in bed last night using my new sleeping knowledge DH says something to me like ''what, no kiss goodnight?'' and i just kind of give him this look like ''ummmm you watched me ''nest'' for 15mins you can come over here''... sheesh. OH the instructor said something i thought was interesting ... i don''t know if i believe her but ya never know... she said that the hormones a pregnant woman produces equals the amount of hormones a non-pregnant woman would produce in 100 years. so if we feel like crying, we should :P
oh, we also had to go around the room and tell everyone how far along we were, if we had anything specific we wanted to work on etc. and i realized that i must have an extremely long torso (it also doesn''t hurt that DH isn''t a big guy) b/c i felt like i didn''t look half as pg as some of the other girls who were weeks behind me. i know it''s stoooopid to compare ourselves that way, but it got me thinking... ''gosh i hope the little guy isn''t too little'' .....

Isn''t prenatal yoga the best thing EVER!?

I have my classes on Mondays...I wish it was at least 3 times a week...I just love it!.

M~

Natalina, I''m super excited to see if I was right. Supposedly, when asked to guess, mothers guessed the correct sex of their baby at a frequency of 71%! That''s crazy! I looove the name Ellis!

Steph, I''m so glad your results came back and it all looked good!

Viz: I also like Wesley, it''s not common, but not something kids are going to make fun of, I think it''s lovely! Your prenatal yoga sounds very nice!

We still have no boy names other than Andrew and Riley. It''s impossible for us, nothing jumps out at all.

So I think I''ve gotten my first "pop" of belly. I know the starter pop is itty bitty, as compared to the ones waaay later, but I was shocked! Since I''m not cool with the pics, I''m attaching the 16 week picture, and will also add my 18w2d pic from yesterday.

This is yesterday's pic. I can not suck it in anymore. Seriously, I suck and suck, and nothing.

Amber you are adorable! I def. see a difference from 16 weeks and 18 weeks. How exciting!

Cara, Blenheim (am I missing anybody? I hope I am not!), thank you! The gyno finally called back and basically said, you probably didn''t hurt anything so far, but to stop for the duration of the pregnancy. Sigh ....

AmberWaves, your bump is both pronounced and adorable!

Hi All!

Amber - I can NOT believe you are 18 weeks already!!! WOW - time flies!!!! I LOVE the baby bump!!!
36.gif

Steph - YAY!!! So happy for you!

Manderine and Vizsla - I definitely want to sign up for prenatal yoga. I realize I'm way too early to begin, but was curious as to when you ladies started classes. I'd like to start in my 2nd trimester - maybe around 20 weeks?

6w2d

Circe, stop what, hanging upside down on your bar or just working out in general? I assume it''s the former . . . I have been told my workouts are fine, but I''ve modified them based on what feels right and on what I''ve read (no lying on my back, no plyometrics where I could slip and fall or pull something). I also stopped running recently; at least in the summer I have the luxury of walking an hour (if I can make it that long without needing a bathroom break . . . it''s like the baby knows I''m trying to work out and instantly makes me have to pee) to make up for running half an hour. My knees and hips feel more vulnerable and I would get a bladder area cramp while running . . . I don''t believe it was hurting the baby but it just didn''t seem worth the discomfort/injury risk. Plus I get overheated very quickly while running in the summer, and that really could hurt the baby.

Today I did the Perfect Pregnancy Workout Vol 1. Has anyone tried it? There are parts of it that are just plain torture (perhaps because the instructor doesn''t realize that even in shape people aren''t capable of doing all the things that somebody who works for Cirque du Soleil like her can), but overall I feel well stretched and worked out afterwards. I''ve been alternating that with one of my Firm videos that doesn''t involve lying on the back or other moves I''d want to avoid -- Body Sculpt Blaster. I''d been trying to use an incline for back work with other videos, but it was just too annoying to pause the video and get set up just to feel like I was really getting the benefit of the exercise I was supposed to get anyway.

I''m really working out at about 75% nowadays (23 weeks tomorrow) -- no hour long workouts or runs for me -- but I think this routine (alternate workouts and walks; 1 or 2 days off a week) will keep me in good shape up through delivery.

blushing - i started yesterday - i''m just 23 weeks. at this particular studio you have to be in your second trimester - the classes build on one another ... so yesterday was the ''start'' of a new 12 week session.

i also want to add my particular prenatal yoga isn''t a ''workout'' - it''s a practice for learning various stretching techniques, sitting, sleeping, back pain alleviation, breathing techniques for labor etc. - a pregnancy well-being class if you will. we will be doing yoga poses throughout the class, but it''s nothing like an ashtanga class.
25.gif
i would just check with your studio to see what type of class they offer - especially if you are looking for something more challenging.

mandy- yes, i already wish i could go tonight! mostly because i love all of those bolsters and blankets - why is it that i can get comfortable on my yoga mat on a wood floor with a few wool blankets, but can''t in my big fluffy bed... so weird.

i thought of another cute girl name... harper.

I can''t believe how far along some of you are! You ladies are so great with your workouts.

I''m sort of in a weird mood today. I''m really uncomfortable and tired but I''m determined to get so much work done. I''ve also been reading my body way too much. I did this in 1st tri too. Every little thing my body went through, I paid attention to and now I''m doing the same. Today I thought I was having a mild contraction because I got cramps but then I couldn''t tell if it was really cramps from a contraction or just gas.

Also, I really want a piece of toast with butter

Viz-Love the name Harper!

Nice belly, Amber! It''s great to be able to put a face to the name...
2.gif

Vizsla - thank you! The class some of my friends have talked about or have taken is called Yoga for Two and it demonstrates The Barnes Method Link. It sounds similar to the one you are taking.

Thanks for the gut compliments everyone! Yes, that is partially my face in "focus, camera, DAMN YOU" mode.
1.gif

Blushing, it''s crazy how fast time flies, right? My bff is either 6w or 5w pregnant (why can''t I remember that??)and she''s asking me all sorts of stuff and I was like, WOW, wasn''t I JUST a scared 5w''er? I mean, I''m a scared 18w''er, but now it''s fun focusing my worry on her baby! How are you feeling?

Vizsla, I really like Harper, more than I liked Ellis!

Amber I totally see a different between the two! You look great!

Yup, Amber, I totally see a difference! CUTE bump, you are going to be a cute preggo, I can tell.

Robbie- You hanging in there???

V- love the names, will think on it for you.

ETA: Fiery, now I want a piece of toast with butter. Yum. I have eaten nonstop all day today and still hungry.
33.gif
I think I'm opposite of you, I tend to think that everything is just baby moving, probably need to start paying attention to the different feelings.

I love the name Harper. It was on my list--but my husband vetoed it immediately
7.gif

Amber---Your belly is so cute!

I had to leave work a bit early today--I just get so overheated and then it makes me nauseous and then I get a headache. Our a/c hardly ever works in our back kitchen area at work.

Plus we still have no a/c at the house! I bought a bathing suit the other day at Target---I''m going to drop it off at my mother''s house so I can go swimming on my lunch breaks--hopefully that will cool me off and I can actually finish an entire day of work!

nat - i thought of some names for you... they kiiiiinnndddaaa go along with what you already have.

charlotte (charley) - another one of my faves ;)
miriam (mimi)
mackenzie
quinn
reese
cameron
parker
VIZSLA- Thanks!!! You nailed my taste completely! Charlotte, Reese, and Quinn are three of my favorites, but DH vetoed them...boo! I had a bad experience with a Miriam in the past (nightmare coworker), but Cameron is a definite possibility. Thanks again for the suggestions!

Thanks too to everyone else for their feedback. Sounds like Emerson is the favorite so far?

I''m so jealous of all of you that have prenatal yoga classes to go to. There is nothing around here! Can you believe that? Our area is not huge, but we''re not totally in the middle of nowhere. So bummed.

Amber- cute belly! I think you have definitely popped!

Tao- sorry about not feeling well, but at least you got to play hooky a bit
2.gif
. I''m jealous you have a place to go swim. I suppose I could go to a public pool or something, but not feeling ultra confident about strutting my stuff in a bathing suit in public right about now!

Steph, congrats on the good results!

Sunkist, welcome to team blue!

Wow, I can''t imagine having no AC! I don''t think I would survive...

Well, apparently the new NP that I saw decided that I actually have GD without telling me. She told me she''d make me an appointment with maternal fetal medicine for a consult to go over the diet (which I had been doing anyway since I''m borderline). Well, I get a call from mfm tonight to prepare for my appointment tomorrow, and apparently it''s a class to learn how to test my blood sugar! I''m actually interested to see how my levels are, but it would have been nice to know that I''m going to have to test!

Hola ladies.

Disclaimer: I am so full right now I want to die. UGGGGGH. Went to lunch with a friend and had this AMAZING arugula and prosciutto pizza (I ate about 3967u9 pieces) and DH and I got some faboo dinner from our favorite Taiwanese joint (salt and pepper baked squid and thai sausage fried rice and bubble tea). Long story short...HOLY FULL LYSSER batman. Blergh. I just sneezed and it hurt - my stomach is soooooo full. If I sort of nod off while I''m typing you''ll know it is actually possible to eat oneself into a coma. That having been said...

Amber - Uber cute belly shot friend. You''ve popped alright. Hehee. Almost typed pooped. Good gawd I''m full.

Sunkist - Welcome to team blue!

Anchor - I hope you back improves! Does heat work on it? I know my OB recommended a heating pad when it got painful.

Steph - Glad all looks good! Like I said, I had two pretty major bleeding episodes in the first trimester, so I think sometimes it is just what happens!

Peony - I''m going for boy/girl for you. With so many twins recently, SOMEONE has to have a combo set. I''m guessing you!

Vis - I still haven''t taken a prenatal yoga class, but I''ve created quite the pillow fortress. DH laughs at me every night. But hey, it works!

Mandarine - Registering blows! Do you have a friend or someone that can talk you through it? I was on the phone with my bestie for HOURS and we went through BRU page by page and she told me what she recommended and what she didn''t think was necessary. It was really helpful.

Blushing - As for not drinking, you know, you can always go with the I''m on antibiotics excuse! Works well for some. Your U/S is coming up soon, right? Many awesome baby vibes going your way!

Fiery - Sorry about the Hemis. That stinks. I wish there were a magic cure. I''m just waiting for them to arrive over here. UGH. Hope you got your toast with butter.

CC - Hey there. Don''t know if you saw, but the BEST thing I found for the consta issues was apricot nectar. A glass or two a day did wonders for me! And it really doesn''t taste bad at all. Btw, I love the onesie! I absolutely LOVED dinosaurs when I was a little kid (even had an imaginary stegosaurus named George - my best friend had one too) - So I''m hoping el kiddo will like ''em too. I''ve attached our bedding below. I really like it. DH, the dear man, painted the nursery last weekend...and it is the same color green as the green in the bedding. It looks sooo good. Now we just have to get the furniture delivered! How are things going with the moving in?

Robbie Hope all is well!!!

Tao - I don''t know how you are doing this without a/c! I hope you live in northern canada or something! Oh my, you are my hero!

Sabine - That stinks about the diagnosis, but really, you are so close - it is only a couple weeks of testing, right?

As for me, other than being so full I want to DIE, I''m doing well. Not looking forward to the three hour GD test on Friday. But oh well. Having a prego belly is so weird! I try to suck it in, but it goes no where! DH looked at me a few days ago and said, "Wow, you''ve really poofed out." Ahh, the Dutch really have a way with words. So it is official. I''ve poofed. It is still so weird to me that I''m almost 30 weeks. How did this happen????

dabeddingfordababee.jpg

Thanks everyone for the thoughts and advice for my back. I was pretty tearful at my appointment yesterday (stupid hormones...
20.gif
) and she rubbed it down for me with anagesic so I feel better. I have exercises to do, but I guess I was doing too much/too much at once, so... we''ll see. I''m taking some Tylenol and taking it easy.

Sunkist - Congrats on joining team blue! I love the u/s pics.
36.gif

Amber, you look gorgeous! What a beautiful belly.

Thank you Everyone for the congrats on joining team blue! I'm having so much fun thinking about little boy things now.

Amber, you have the cutest new baby bump! It's definitly starting to pop. Love it! We're almost half way, can you believe it!?

Vizla, for some reason I've always seen your avatar as a picture of stairs. I just realized though that it's a house isn't it!
3.gif
I feel dumb, haha! Your yoga classes sound cool, I'd love to know the tricks for sleeping on your side, wonder if I can find that anywhere. Love the story about your "nesting" for 15 minutes in bed too
1.gif

Natlina, I think Ellis is really cute for a girl! That was on my girls name list but hubby had already vetoed it.

--
For me, I have another doctor appt tomorrow. My doc told me he'll be giving me a flu shot. Anyone else's doctor give them a flu shot? I don't know if they give a different kind to preggo women or not.

I'm starting to feel my tummy getting in the way. Not that it's really sticking out, but it's filling in my torso and getting difficult to bend over. I know it's just going to worse from here, huh!
5.gif

My sister''s middle name is Ellis. She loves it.
She''s named after my Uncle who passed away when he was very young.

I''m 20 weeks today!!! I''m halfway done, I can''t believe it. Sometimes I think the time flew by and other times, I''m like "Man, I''m only half way done!"

question: does anyone else get an uncomfortable pain while sitting between their boobs and where their rib cage starts? i know it's probably just my body moving and such but it seems my extra ginormous tatas are putting more pressure on my ribs.. ouchy. oh, which has also lead to (drumroll........) the dreaded pg heartburn
14.gif
14.gif
it came on like gang busters last night and really hasn't let up... good times good times.

and since this is a supportive forum in which to complain
3.gif

2.gif
ummmmmmmmmm how fair is it that the super sweet 'seven for all mankind' maternity jeans that i spent waaayyyyyy too much on are already tight in my hips!! what's UP body??? are they spreading already???

that's all for this morning :) i'm sure i'll think of something else later on in the day to complain about.

oh, so my trainer had me do some push ups this morning and i literally fell on my face ... i was kinda funny... my poor arms are so weak anymore they buckled under the weight of my massive belly ...... soooo sad
3.gif
- it's times like that that make me think my old bod will never be back.

ETA: tao - *totally*!!

Hey ladies, I''m still here. I''m hoping the baby has made some more downward progress because I''m feeling a ton of pressure in my pelvis (not on my cervix though).

I had another dream last night where baby was a girl. I think I''ve only had 2 dreams about the baby and in both it''s been a girl. It''ll be interesting to see if my subconscious or conscious mind has it right!

Sorry for not really responding to anyone, but I''m in total grump mode right now. I''m so over being pregnant.

Poor, poor Robbie. I really hope the baby makes some progress for you.

I had a lot of dreams that my baby was a girl too when my gut was boy so maybe that means girl for you??? I''m so excited to find out.

I also hope that NYCSparkle is holding her LO already!

I''m 23 weeks today . . . I''d been anticipating this milestone because of the poem "At 23 Weeks She Can No Longer See South of Her Belly." I don''t remember who wrote it, but it appears in the anthology "Good Poems" compiled by Garrison Keillor. Before I was pregnant I thought it was such a cute portrait of a married couple -- the wife collapses on the bed, "hips sore, pelvis aching," and demands that her husband paint her toenails because (well, see the title).

Now that I''m 23 weeks, I''ve got to say that I think the poet''s wife was milking her pregnancy for all it was worth. I painted my toenails last week, and it was hardly more difficult than usual. Yes, my belly is bigger, but it''s not like it''s so big that I can''t see or reach my feet. If anyone felt this way at 23 weeks, I do apologize; I know everyone''s pregnancy is different. But now that I know how far along you really are at 23 weeks (not even the third trimester yet), I find the poem less sweet and more funny . . . poor husband being ordered to do things his wife was probably perfectly capable of doing herself!

In other news, my little kicker should be about a pound now. Hmmm, I wonder where the other 20+ I gained went . . .

Robbie, I''m sorrry!!! Hope the LO makes an appearance soon!!!
Phoenix I do feel like that poem...but then again my belly measures 5 weeks ahead...hehe
5.gif

Nat - Love the names!!!
Sabine - I am sorry about the testing!! ugh....why didn''t they say something!?. You''re almost there so it shouldn''t be so bad...but I understand the frustration....
Tao - Congrats on the 20 weeks!!!!!!
36.gif

35.gif
to all the other ladies!!!!!!!!!

I''m 21 weeks today!! It''s crazy!...time is flying!
32.gif
9.gif

I had a dream that I was having the babies last night. DH woke up before the 2nd baby was born, so I could only see the first sweet boy...he was so precious
30.gif

Project nursery continues this weekend!. We received the second crib (had to retun it because first one was damaged)...so hopefully this weekend we will have both cribs done!. We also picked a color (the one on the left in this picture!). I''m so excited!.

I also went to ikea and chose the dresser I will get as a changing table. Any recommendations for a changing table topper for a dresser?

Here is a pic of project nursery from last weekend
9.gif
(no mattress or crib skirt...just the bumper to get an idea)...

On the names front..we''re making no progress at all!. DH likes very traditional more american names...and I want something that it''s pronounced the same way in English and Spanish. Right now I guess the top 4 are: Alexander, Marcos, Lucas and Matthew. Matthew would be Mateo for my family. The thing is I love Alexander, but it really is a form of DH''s name...so how do I choose which baby is almost named after daddy? the "oldest" boy?. Would that be weird since they are twins??

Ok, need my decaf "cafe con leche"
18.gif
Talk to you guys later!
M~

Robbie- Hang in there girl! I''m getting really excited for you! Hope you aren''t too uncomfortable!

Sabine- Boo on the GD. I have my test in 2 weeks. Does it drastically change how/what you eat?

Mandarine- You look absolutely fantastic!!!!! WHAT a cute belly! I love it! Paint looks great, and crib/bedding are so cute. As for a topper for your dresser, check out PBKids. They have toppers to go on their dressers, but you can order toppers separately. That''s what we are doing because I picked up a dresser at the regular Pottery Barn and want to be able to use it as a changing table too, until she gets older. The topper has felt on the bottom so it doesn''t damage the dresser. Also, since they have so many different styles & colors of dressers, there is a lot to choose from.

I think we will order our crib soon. I''m getting antsy to get the room put together, even though it really feels early still. At 25 weeks today, would I be silly to get everything set up soon? I guess it will take a couple weeks for the crib to get here, soooo...... I just can''t wait to get it all ready! The baby already has more clothes than me, and we haven''t even had a shower yet! That''s another question I have, when do showers usually take place One of my girlfriends wants to throw one for us, but neither of us know when it should be! 30 weeks or so?

Do it now that you have the energy to. I''m days away from being 38 weeks and we *still* don''t have everything done because of our crazy schedules. The problem now is that I am way too tired and uncomfortable to even care. Yesterday I was separating clothes to wash and just removing it from the boxes and removing the tags wore me out. And the list of things to do is so long that FI is up to his neck in work. My brothers are coming this weekend to help FI out with getting everything done.

Trust me, start early.

Mandy you look stunning! Love both of those colors so you really couldn''t go wrong with either
3.gif

So, things here have been super busy, so I haven''t had a chance to catch up on everyone''s posts. I''ll probably just stick to this page, since I''m THAT lazy

1.gif

Sabine - That sucks about the GD. I''m suprised that even though you were just borderline, they are going to teach you to test your blood sugar levels. I guess it can''t hurt. I just did my one hour test last week, and I have an appointment tomorrow, so hopefully they''ll tell me everything is fine. I''m kind of fearing the worst, since I have a family history of diabetes.

littlelysser - Your post made me laugh. I feel full really easily now. I also eat a TON now. Maybe the two are related?

2.gif

vizsla - Some of my maternity pants are getting too tight on me, too. Fortunatley, most of them are cheapies from the GAP. The only expenisve pair I bought are Juicy, and I am going to force them to fit the entire time I am pregnant for what I paid for them!

robbie - I can only imagine how ready you are for the pregnancy to be done. The end is in sight, though. Only a week or so more.

phoenixgirl - I agree that the lady in the poem was probably milking it. I am 27 weeks today, have gained more weight than most (I think I''m up 24 lbs so far) and can still pretty much do everything for myself. I do make my DH bend down to pick things up for me, though. That is mostly because this pregnancy is making me a clutz, and I am dropping things all the time, though

1.gif

Mandarine - Love the nursery color. I can''t believe you got away with only two swatches. We ended up with about 10 swatches painted on the wall before we decided on a color. My DH just finished painting this weekend, and did the border yesterday. We have to pick up our crib and dresser today, so I will pist picks when we get some stuff in the room. Yours looks great!

natalina - We already ordered our crib and dresser, since my MIL had coupons she wanted to use before they expired. Only thing we have left to get is the changing table, and we will be using a coupon to get that next week. So we should everything set up by the end of July, even though I''m not due until end of September. But I am super into planning ahead. If you want to start setting stuff up, I say go for it!

My big news for the day: I''m a new aunt! My sister had her twins this week. She made it to 36 weeks, which is amzaing considering she has been in and out of the hospital the last couple of months. The baies were both over 5 lbs, she got to deliver them vaginally, and they are already home getting settled. And the craziest thing of all, they have different birthdays! Arianna was born on Monday night at 11:10 PM, and Jakob was born Tuesday morning at 12:19 AM. I only got to see Arianna, since my sister was in the recovery room with Jakob for a couple of hours, and they wouldn''t let anyone in to see them. But, here is the one picture I have of Arianna. I am such a proud Auntie!
