Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

PEONY: CONGRATS on 2 BOYS! how exciting.

Well its been forever since Ive posted. Im 29weeks 2 days today and just had my routine monthly OB visit. Turns out that I have to go see a Childrens Cardiology Speacialist on Wed. Because apparently on all the U/S''s Ive had so far...They havent been able to get a good clear Heart shot of the baby. No one has ever mentioned this before, but the rotaional Dr I saw today was concerned that There hasnt been one. So they set me up an appointment to have an U/S done with a Cardiologist Specialist. So needless to say, Im just a TAD bit worried now, that there MAY be something wrong. Also had my GD test 2 weeks ago and passed thank god! I was so excited lol. I have gained a total of 14lbs so far. I went from 134lbs to 148 as of today. Im ALWAYS out of breath...but other then that...I feel pretty great. Everything''s set up and ready to go ...well for the most part. Crib is up and bedding on. Changing table/dresser is up and stocked with clothes, diapers, ect. Car seat is in the back seat of the car, as well as the strol;ler and myy hospital bag. All I need to do now....is go throught the TONS of clothes that my son already has, and decide what will be his ''going home'' outfit. lol. In a few mins I''ll post an updated belly shot (its been a while since Ive posted one) and i''ll throw in a pic of the baby''s ''room''. For the time being the baby''s stuff is set up in an outcove in our bedroom, cuz my father is staying with us for a while and is in the actual baby''s room. So for a while he''ll be in with us. BRB...

Cara, my fingers are crossed for you.

Socal, forgot to say congrats on the new niece and nephew! How cool that they have different birthdays!

Vizsla, makes me think that too! Perhaps my dreams will be right instead of my conscious gut feeling!

Fiery, everything that we really need for the baby is ready, though I don''t quite have my bag packed. Oops. I need to fill some travel sized bottles with shampoo and throw in some clothing for me to wear. I''m jealous that you have so much clothing for your little girl (any closer on a name?)! We have less than 10 things in newborn size, more in 0-3 mos, but it''s ALL gender neutral. I''m not really into the GN stuff. I can''t wait to buy clothes once we know what this kid is. We''re not bringing anything for baby. We''ll have my mom bring the boy or girl outfit to the hospital after she washes it. Your bump is so round and cute!

Cara, thanks for the pic compliment! Sending tons of sticky vibes your way!

I can''t believe I forgot to mention the best part of yesterday (according to DH at least). As we were leaving the building the Dr''s office is in (there are a few other OB practices, a Quest and the women''s hospital imaging center in the building) DH stops, gets this look of awe on his face and says, "That''s Fededtenko!!!" Not sure how many hockey fans we have on this thread, but he''s one of the Penguins. I thought he was kidding, but as they approached us DH reached out, shook his hand and told him congratulations (on winning the cup). He was so excited. It was adorable. When we got in the car he kept talking about it and wondering if he knew that he was congratulating him on the cup or if he thought he''d meant something else. I spent the whole season calling him "Feta-Chanko" because at first I thought that''s how it was pronounced and then cause I just thought it was really funny. DH said he''s really glad I didn''t say anything because he would''ve been really embarrassed if I''d mispronounced his name, lol.

Delurking to say...

Love the cute bellies! Fiery and Robbie, it''s getting close! YAY!

hmmn...lets try that again...

Logan''s area....

Argh...things are being screwy for me. Ill try again in a bit ::sigh::

Peony, congrats! Welcome to team blue!

cara. sending you tons of sticky dust! I hope everything is okay.

Love all the belly pictures! You all look great!

Cara- thinking of you and hoping all is well. Stick bean, stick!

All the bellies are so cute! It is just so crazy to me how far along everyone is! Sounds like maybe Fiery will be the next to go, maybe even before Robbie?!?

Sapphire- hope all is well with Logan''s little heart. You are so ready- and at 29 weeks, go girl! I can''t believe the baby seat and hospital bag are already in the car! You are so on the ball! That''s it- I''m telling DH we are ordering our crib this weekend! Can''t wait to see pics of Logan''s space!

aww, all your bellies are so cute!

Cara, I am so sorry you are going through this. The same thing happened to me last week and it freaked me out, but everything was totally fine. I''m praying everything is good with your little bean. Hopefully they will be able to do an ultrasound so you can check up on the baby. Please let us know when you find something out.

Cute bellies everyone!

Cara- I hope everything is okay!

Thanks for all the doppler feedback. I think we might skip this, the anxiety of not finding the heartbeat seems like it could outweigh the reward.

It seems like the last couple of weeks have flown by. We told our parents, siblings and grandparents last weekend and everyone was blown away. It was pretty cool. I think we''ll start telling friends in the next week or so. I''m still nervous about this pregnancy, and I know I shouldn''t be overly nervous since everything has been normal so far, I just can''t wait to get out of the first trimester!

Hope all is well with everyone...I''m going to try to be more active so please forgive me for just jumping in without responding to everyone!

AM 9wk4d

Cara-You and your bean are in my thoughts. I''ll cross my fingers that it''s all good news.

Sapphire-So good to hear from you. Wow almost 30 weeks! You look great. I''ll be thinking of Logan too.

Bia-You lurker you
35.gif

Mandy-You''re so cute! The twins are growing beautifully
face23.gif

Robbie-Your plan sounds better than mine. I think I''m overthinking it too much. At this point I''ll need a separate bag just for the stuff I want to take for her (as if we don''t live 10 minutes away from the hospital
20.gif
). We are still going with Sophia but have no idea about a middle name. I don''t have a middle name (neither do my brothers) so I don''t see the point of it but FI would like one.

Natalina-You just scared me
23.gif
lol!

My brother is coming tomorrow
9.gif
. He has a week off from school and he is secretly hoping that I go into labor within the next 6 days. He''s bringing Hayden (his dog) which I''m not too thrilled about because the last thing I need now is pee everywhere. I don''t now what it is about him. He gets sooooo excited and then pees
20.gif
. He is not allowed in the nursery lol. I am "forgetting" to tell FI that the dog will be coming too. But I''m excited that he''ll be here. We''re putting him to work!

Peony, congrats on 2 boys! You are joining a very fun club, so I hear!

tao, good luck with the u/s! How fun!

Robbie, Fiery, you guys are soooo close. You both look great too!

Viz, Sapphire, Mandarine, what cute little bellies! Sapphire, it''s not fair that you still look so great! Totally jealous!

Cara, hang in there...I''ll be thinking of you and sending major sticky vibes!

Well, I had my 34 week apt. today, and I''m measuring 36.5 weeks. I was only 1.5 weeks ahead at my last apt. And my glucose levels so far have been elevated after meals but not when I''m fasting. So I will be going in for a growth u/s at 36 weeks to see just how big this boy is so far...have to say, I''m a little nervous. Combine all this with the PUPPPS rash that I definitely have (but am NOT going to treat with steroids cause that will make lo even bigger and mess with my glucose levels even more...) and trying to get dh tested to see if he is a carrier of thalassemia as well, and I kinda feel like I''m falling apart here at the end. Like everything that could possibly go wrong is. Hopefully everything will still be okay, but I think I need to start preparing myself for the doctor to either want to induce early or have a c/s.

And here I am in all my hugeness...

34weeks11size2.jpg

Man, we are having a boy explosion around here!

Cute belly pics everyone. Sabine, I especially like yours, due to your cute little doggie sneaking in
1.gif

I am not going to post a belly pics today. I am just feeling too huge. First of all, my one friend who gained 70 lbs during her pregnancy keeps telling me how big I am every time I see her. I mean, the girl was pregnant less than a year ago, does she not remember how annoying that is?! And today my boss comes by and tells me he got my maternity leave request. I put my leave start date as my due date, since I want to work as long as I can, and get more time off with the baby once he''s born. My boss looks at my stomach and says he doesn''t think I''ll make it that long. WTF?
29.gif
Seriously, I can set my leave date as whatever I want, and can change it at any time, so why do I need comments like that?

In other whiny news, DH and I went to pick up our crib and dresser last night. We get home and take the dresser out of the box, and it''s damaged. Like the whole back is totally broken. We didn''t even open the crib box, but I hope it is not in the same condition. So now we have a big broken dresser taking up space in my living room until BRU can get us a new one. DH refuses to take it upstairs to the baby''s room since it is just going to have to come back down, and I don''t blame him. That thing weighs a ton! Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed after we waited the last couple of weeks for the thing to come in.

Okay, pointless whining done. I hope everyone is having a good Friday.

Tao - Good luck at the ultrasound.

Cara - Hoping everything is okay. I had lots of cramping early on, and I know some of the other ladis had bleeding, so hopefully it''s nothing.

Hey guys,
We are about 99% sure they're fraternal due to the different chorion, amnion, and placentas. Jas, Neat, and Mandarine, were those also the signs that convinced you that yours are fraternal, or was there any doubt? I also took Clomid to achieve the pregnancy which can often produce multiple eggs, but 20% of Clomid twins are identical.
One theory about the boys on here: One of my friends is really won over by the Shettles theories, and by that accounting with so many devoted charters here (and thus people BDing close to ovulation) we'd be more likely to have boys. No idea if that really holds up!

Jas, I think average gestation for twins is 36 weeks.

Cara, good question! I am personally thrilled by the boys, but DH has been dying for a girl so I'm a little sad for him. He grew up with all boys in his family but doesn't really have typical boy interests like team sports or video games. Heck, most of the time he'd prefer to watch a good chick flick over an action movie. He grew up without a dad so female role models have been very important to him.
Okay, right after I typed that DH called from work to see how I was doing. He sounds like he's getting super excited about the boys and has been looking at boys names all day, too distracted to do work.
9.gif
I'm really happy about that.

Tao, good luck at your ultrasound!!!!!!!!

Cara and Sapphire, hope everything is okay with you guys!!!!!

Sabine, CUte belly!!!!!!!!!!
36.gif

Peony, In my case the membrane was very thick and they saw the two placentas...so they concluded it was di-di.

Re that theory, not sure if that really holds true. Funny thing is I don''t think Jas or Neat charted (I may be wrong tough)...and neither did I. I think we were all jerkstores!...lol. In my case I wasn''t even sure when I ovulate since my celes were on the short side (21 days)...so we got an a mini-DTD marathon for about 5 days (around the time "I thought" I would ovulate...assuming my LP was normal in lenght).

So who knows. I still think if that theory was true, then most twins conceived via IUIs (is that the right acrocym?) would be boys...but that doesn''t necessarily hold true.

Regardless, it is pretty funny to have so many PS twin boys!!!
9.gif

Jas- I have actually heard that boy-boy is the rarest. Technically boy/girl is the most common-I'll skip over the complex stats talk but if they are fraternal then each baby has about a 50% chance of being a boy or a girl so the combos are:

Baby A Baby B
boy girl
girl boy
boy boy
girl girl

So a 50% chance of being boy/girl and about a 25% chance of being boy/boy or girl/girl. Since each egg's sex is an independent event one doesn't influence the other.

But for some reason I have read that boy/boy is actually the rarest-that is probably of all living twins I would assume...because girl twins (and preemies) are a teensy bit likelier to survive all else being equal. So that probably accounts for the slight decrease in the probability of having twin boys (who survive past infancy).

And re: gestation-half of all twins are born before 36 weeks I think? 36 weeks is considered "full term" for twins. And as for your friend yes it is rare to make it to 39 weeks and those weights are rare too! I made it full term but "full term" meant 38 weeks which my doc wouldn't let me go past. Because of Baby B (Dexter's) position I had a scheduled c-section at 38 weeks which was what was safest for him. But my doc was shocked I made it that far!

I am now retreating to my nerd lair...

Peony We never knew for sure if our boys are identical before they were born because even 25% of identical twins have different placentas, sacs, the whole nine yards. Unless they are clearly identical you can't be sure unless you test their DNA. We never tested them because they look VERY different so there is no way they are ID. So that is our unscientific method of knowing they are frats.
2.gif

Neat, that was what we came up with too when we calculated. Most of the twins in my twin class were boy-girl.

I''m guessing that ours will look different too, but if not we may have them tested. Even if they don''t look different, I''m a little worried about mixing them up at the beginning due to sleep deprivation!

Thanks for all the thoughts! Wow I am uncomfortable. Trying not to move or I will burst. Have just finished second bottle of water for my ultrasound in 1 hr, and the first bottle is already making me desperate! OK, trying to think good thoughts about the outcome. What an unfortunate way to get an early ultrasound.

All the belly pics look great. I will admit to being previously completely clueless about the belly comments to preggo women. Someone mentioned this earlier, I thought looking big would be a compliment because it means you are growing the bean up and nearing delivery. A level of cluelessness worth of my father, LOL. But my good friend did give me the stickeye at a comment in her third trimester a few years ago, giving me a small clue in addition to all the useful comments from the ladies here. Plus even my bloaty belly has clued me in a bit - I definitely didn't think, "Oh mushy bloaty belly of gas and discomfort that sticks over the pants, good for growing baby - yeah!"

Sabine-You look so great! Try not to worry too much about the growth u/s. Do you know if they are doing a Level I or Level II u/s?

Cara-Don''t beat yourself up about the comments. I think people just don''t really know what to say to a pregnant woman. Yesterday someone told me that she can tell I''m going to deliver soon because of my nose. I have no idea what that means.

I love Belly Pic Friday!
30.gif

You are all sickeningly cute. Seriously!

Cara, best wishes for good news (and swift bladder relief) at your appointment. I''ll be checking in to hear an update, but no pressure to post right away.

Things are moving along with the nursery. While I was out of town this week, DH moved most of the furniture out and refinished an old dresser we decided to use in there. He even picked out pink knobs, which are really cute (hope he won''t mind changing them to a different color if we ever use it for a boy!). And, my mom ordered me most of the nursery stuff I wanted Monday/Tuesday of this week, and I''ve already gotten most of it (so props to BabySuperMall and BuyBuyBaby). DH also put out a set of paint chips (arranged very artistically) for me to see when I walked in. Now that I''ve finally eaten lunch I can take all the nursery bedding etc. and paint chips up to the room and think about it.

We still have a lot to do though. Sigh . . . need to move out the desk and computer (which means rerouting the cable line . . . good thing DH is handy). Our crib and changing table/dresser will arrive by Friday, but we''ll be out of town for the 4th and will have to pick it up the week after.

This baby is seeming realer and realer . . . and I have gone from feeling like I''m watching this happen to someone else and thinking intellectually about how my life will change but not really feeling it to these crazy feelings of maternal warmth. I just want to pet my belly and hug my baby and buy all sorts of cute little outfits. Funny, isn''t it? Good thing we have 9 months to get from point A to point B.

Hi ladies,

Happy Friday! I haven''t posted in a while but have been reading all the posts.

Congrats to Ebree - Henry is adorable.

Fiery and Robbie, I am anxiously awaiting your birth stories and pics over the next week or two.

Sunkist and Peony, congrats on the boys!

We had our big ultrasound today and we are breaking the recent boy streak - we are having a little girl! We are very excited and super surprised, as there hasn''t been a girl born in DH''s family for 86 years. DH and I took the day off (it''s his 30th bday as well) and after the u/s we went to lunch and then a quick stop at the mall where DH bought his daughter her first outfit.

Hey preggos! U all look grrreat!
Can''t believe how many twin boys...someone needs to join team purple! ;)..but boys are the best..esp mamas boys!

Fiery- lol''d about the nose...I was told the same thing...my nose expanded >:-?

Wishing everyone healthy bebes!

you guys all have the cutest bellies!!

cara hope everything is ok with your little bean.

Hey ladies. Wow, this thread is trucking along. Tried to write down everyone to say hello/respond to, but lost the paper and am overwhelmed at work, so I''ll try to hit what I can.

V- I have a close friend named Harper and she rocks. Great name for a girl. I have pain b/w my boobs and ribcage, especially when I sit down. I think I am carrying really high, so everything is pushed up against my ribcage. My boobs haven''t actually gotten very big, so I don''t think it''s that for me. But it feels bruised. Bras suck. And I am totally going to do to you what Mela did to me- You''re BLONDE? Totally pictured you a light brown brunette. CUTE belly pic.

Sabine- Just saying hi. You look great, but definitely like you''re getting bigger belly-wise. Me too, I feel like all of a sudden this week my belly is just huge. Ugh. It''s freaking 100 degrees here and feels like it''s 105. Can''t believe my feet haven''t swollen yet, but it''s not like I really look at my feet that often.
2.gif
I think I had more to say to you, but can''t remember now.

Lysser- Hey there. Thx for the apricot nectar tip, will give it a try. I forgot you did post your bedding, but I still love it. Can you come over and do my nursery for me? Yep, mine is still not done and I''m at 33 almost 34 weeks. And it''s driving me crazy. Mostly b/c of our move, but I am determined to get it done this weekend. We are getting settled, thanks for asking. But we have no furniture downstairs, so trying to handle that. Neighbors keep coming by and bringing us food or flowers to say welcome to the neighborhood. I swear we moved onto a block from a 1950''s sitcom, it''s genius. I just hope no other new neighbors move in anytime soon, b/c apparently I will have to bake something.
6.gif
Love that you''ve "poofed". That''s hysterical, boys are so funny. And I hear you on feeling full. It kinda makes me mad sometimes- like last night I was starving when I got home so I had a snack before dinner, but by the time we actually went to get dinner, I was full. Which made me mad b/c I''m pregnant and therefore allowed to get the mac & cheese, but was too full to actually get it.
38.gif
So rude. But I did have ice cream as a condolence.

Mandarine- You look great! Kinda agree on the "alexander" of it all, sorry! Not sure I would give one boy that name over the other, just a pity party waiting to happen. Maybe as a middle name?

Phoenix- Ugh, sorry about your MIL. I think you shouldn''t invite her- I remember some of your other posts about her and I just think you don''t need the drama.

RE: Shower dates- I''ve had three- one at like 27 weeks, one at 32 weeks, and one this weekend at 33/34 weeks. I wouldn''t wait too long, just cause you get grumpy and uncomfortable later on, plus it''s better to know what you''ve gotten so you can go buy the rest of it. The first two showers were good times, but I feel like this one is a bit late if I had thought about it. But no rules, just do what works best for schedules and such.

RE: Cribs/setting up nurserys early- DO IT as soon as you feel like it! Mine is not done and it''s driving me crazy and like Fiery said, I''m just unmotivated and tired now. I really wish mine had been done like a month ago.

Peony- No way!!! Yay for Team BLUE!!!

Tao- Good luck today!

Robbie- One week!!!

Fiery- Hi. Sorry you''re swollen. Have no idea what to pack for the baby!!!! I am letting my mom pick the "going home" outfit cause she likes pretty and old-fashioned stuff and I don''t and she seemed so disappointed in my choices that I am letting her pick something.

Cara- Hang in there, thinking of you. Hope all is well. Sticky vibes being sent your way.

Sapphire- Looking good! Would love to see your nursery. Try not to worry, they didn''t say they saw anything worrisome, right, they just never got a clear picture? Sure it will all be fine.

November- Finally, a
GIRL!

Whew, that made me tired.
