I ordered this glider today! It''s black, not espresso, so now we''ll have black, espresso, and white all in one tiny room. But I think it will look ok. It was the only stock chair they had at BRU that I liked the look of at all, and a special order would take 10-12 weeks. We wanted to stick with Shermag since they are slimmer (this will be ten inches narrower than the current chair). I found some Shermag espresso options on Walmart.com, but I was worried about buying a chair I hadn''t tried out (Baby Bargains says that the BRU and Walmart lines of Shermag are different quality/construction). Plus I got the chair and ottoman for $214 out the door (well, not literally since it will take 7 to 14 days to come in . . . but I mean including tax) because all gliders are 20% off at BRU today and tomorrow, and then the checkout girl magically swiped a coupon for an additional 15% off. So basically I got the nicer model for the Walmart price. Yay!

I love this glider! I told my husband that no matter what other furniture we got, I wanted a glider for the baby''s room. That one looks comfy!

And now that I am looking at the Maxi Cosi carseats, I totally want one. I love that they are solid colors instead of weird patterns with stuff everywhere. I just want one that functions. Granted, that is a LONG time away, but I am going to start saving up to buy one of these lol.

phoenixgirl- in looooove with ur nursery...i love the color combo..perfection!

is the maxi cosi rated better than britax in safety?..dont have time to look it up now lol

Congrats, Sabine. Jackson is just adorable! I love the name too. It was on our list, but my best friend is using it, so it was out!

i think britax is still the leader as far as safety. consumer reports/baby bargains like the chicco key fit 30, graco snug ride, and baby trend flex loc the best.

*my* reasoning for the maxi cosi was:
1) the overall ease and maneuverability of the seat - both just carrying it around and getting it in and out of the base. 2) the styling/no funky patterns 3) i don''t think we are going to have a very big baby
3.gif
4) i don''t think (realistically) i *want* to carry around a 12lb carrier PLUS a 30lb baby (the maxi cosi carrier weighs 9.5 lbs) 5) to *me* the britax and peg perego were just really big and cumbersome (and very $$$), plus we have a small car and once we tested out the seats in our car most took up over 1/2 of the back seat and finally 6) all car seats are safe and approved by the nhtsa. so that''s why i picked that car seat :)

Congratulations Mara! I missed this bit of info until seeing your questions in the how much did moms spend on baby stuff thread (or whatever the question was)!

viz those are mostly the reasons for me to like it as well... i just really have an aversion to most american car seats, the patterns, the padding the crap out of them, the heaviness, the bulkiness. and they are mostly around the same price, i agree re: stuff sold in the US is all approved for safety regardless, and yes i have been looking at albee because they also have the quinny buzz, which i like the best for strollers so far, on clearance. i just have to get into a store that carries it and see it in person first. the same aversion i have to popular american brand car seats follows through on strollers too. funny because for things like a playpen or whatever i could care less what pattern it has but if i am going to be out and about with it ALL THE TIME, i want to at least like it as well as have it be useful.

though through work greg has the option to get the bugaboo frog for free, i am tempted to just have him do that. we could always sell it on craigs list and then buy whatever we want hahaha.

thanks MC

Both my kids had Britax seats. After they outgrew them, I was able to sell them for 1/3 price each.

CONGRATS SABINE!! Welcome to the little boys club

. He''s SO cute!!!

Congratulations Sabine! He''s sooo delicious!! I hope you are trying to get some rest and that you, babe, and Mr. Sabine are doing well.

Wow... I was just about to post for BPF and I realized that I am showing more than I thought! A picture shows things differently than the mirror, I guess

anchor Don''t let me fool you... they don''t button comfortably, and I do tend to wear lots of low rise jeans, so I''m sure that helps!

MC,Viz & Mara I''ve been looking in to the maxi cosi too, I really like the foray stroller that it clicks in to (Just from what I''ve seen/heard, I haven''t tried it yet). But, I keep going back to the chicco keyfit because there are so many great reviews for it. Good thing I have time to figure it out, it can get confusing.

oops... I forgot the pic

Um, tempted? Why WOULDN''T you do it? The bugaboo is a good stroller. I like it (although I like the bigger basket in the Cam better). The bugaboo is everywhere because it IS a good stroller. And they don''t have horrid colors...just basic and cute. Honestly, if you could get it for free, that would be the deciding factor for me. The Buzz is not worth buying if you can get the Bug for free!

Re: carseats - just get the cheapest and safest infant carseat you can find (trust me on this one). If the maxi cosi is the same price as some of the other more cost effective, get it. I got the safeseat in plan old brown with lime green trim. In hindsight, I would have gotten the snugride because it woul have been nice to get the lighter seat. But the safeseat install is easier, so that''s why we opted for that one. They outgrow these things so freaking fast that I would save the dough for a nice convertible seat.

Britax is tops in safety, but that doesn''t mean the others aren''t safe. I LOVE the look of the maxi cosi priori, but Britax Boulevard won out for a variety of reasons for us - mostly side impact protection (my kid has to sit in an outboard spot since our car doesn''t LATCH in the middle) AND the adjustable harness without having to unthread/thread it. That has been AWESOME because this girl grows like a weed. Plus I got an unassuming print for 209 bucks, awesome for a Britax Boulevard. I have been super super pleased with our Britax Boulevard and would buy another in a heartbeat.

It''s too bad we all didn''t get those $49 Britax''s...remember gals?

Congratulations Sabine!! He''s beautiful.

i havent researched the bug frog as much but it seemed like it wasn't as popular as the cham so i thought maybe it was not as good. i asked Greg if he could get the cham instead (it's for points through work and we never spend those stupid things on anything so why not for a stroller or something for the kid) but we haven't actually logged on and looked to see. so random that he can get a stroller as a gift option.

i really like the buzz for it's auto closing feature....but yeah i agree if i can not spend like $500 then why not. the stroller will prob be our 'biggest' purchase anyway and i plan to do it ourselves, not wait for someone to buy it for us, because i want to make sure i get what we want.

the maxi cosi's are $119 at albee right now, in funky colors but i like the orange! it's fun. and cheery. i liked the buzz also cuz the maxi cosi just snapped in, i'd have to make sure that we could snap it into the bug's too.

orange!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes! It''s exciting to see so many people with similar due dates!

I had a little afternoon sickness today but I am feeling much better. My best friend, who is a pediatrician says that this is normal and healthy and studies show morning sickness leads to healthy full term babies and fewer miscarriages. This is crazy to me but at least there is some good out of all of that misery! I had horrible morning sickness with my son and really hope this pregnancy will not be so difficult.

I have been reading Baby Bargains (it is a must read if you haven''t read it!) but my head is spinning with so many choices.

I would love a Bugaboo but I think I would be just as happy with the Uppababy Vista, Quinny Buzz, or even the Phil and Ted. It''s SO hard to decide. I had a Peg Perego Pliko last time around and also a Baby Jogger and it would be nice just to have ONE stroller.

I am trying to figure out a good crib as well... has anyone decided yet?

I am probably going to get either the Britax chaperone or the Chicco Key Fit. I personally love Brtitax car seats and my son loved his Cowmooflauge print Roundabout. Unfortunately we have to buy new everything as we never thought we''d have another child and gave everything to my husband''s cousin.

Any suggestions on diaper bags? Yay for the pregnant mamas!! :)

Congrats to all the new preggos as well - wow, loads of PS babies coming up!

Viz, I have the MaxiCosi Cabriofix carseat - it''s the top-rated safety-wise in the UK, and I have it on the Isofix system. It fits on our stroller (Stokke Xplory) really easily, although I haven''t really used it that way because Daisy HATES going in the car and so by default doesn''t like her carseat

.

Mara, I read some not great reviews on the Bugaboo Frog - I believe the Chameleon is better. I love the Bugaboos style-wise, but they''re pretty low down, especially the Bee which if you or your SO are tall can make bending down a PITA and wreck your back. I also looked at the Quinny Buzz, and ruled it out as it''s very heavy and it''s wide which is a pain on public transport or in shops - a friend has one and loves it, but they live in a more suburban area than us.

CONGRATULATIONS, SABINE!!! Welcome baby Jackson (he is sooo cute)!!!!!!

I went up to my doctor''s today to find out what my glucose numbers were since they said they were "elevated". They never told me what my actual numbers were or even where they needed to be.

I have to be under 140 and I was at 150. So close!! The guy who told me the numbers said not to start freaking out because lots of people fail one of the tests but pass the second one easily....I hope I''m one of those women!

taovandel, a ton of PS women failed the first glucose and passed the second - you''ll be fine!

Mara, I love that orange. As far as Cam vs Frog, it may have changed because when I was researching it for my friend it was pretty much the same stinkin'' stroller. Cam''s basket is bigger and colors are customizable (and cuter). The Cam''s handles are adjustable (but I have no idea how they work.) Cam has better suspension. At the time, that was IT. No difference otherwise. It may matter to you and Greg since he is tall, but you are tall as well so you could probably push the stroller at the same level. You''d just have to see if the way the frog''s handlebars are set is comfy fo you.

orange!
BTW, I don''t know what the normal prices of those things are, but Graco Safeseat is 135...so that''s cheaper than Graco. If you like it, you should get it. That color is actually my fave out of the lineup.

mara i have the cam and i LOVE it to pieces. i thought about getting the frog, but to me it didn''t seem like it handles as well. i know there are other features that you can do to the cam that you can''t do to the frog, but i''m actually not sure as to what they are. my model is a bit older though, i got our''s in 2007. and i love all the colors and patterns that they have for the stroller.
we also have 2 other pretty pricey strollers and i do admit that the bugaboo does not get as much use as the other ones now just because it is a PITA to "put together" when we go out.

cute car seat.

CONGRATULATIONS, SABINE!!!
Welcome baby Jackson (he is sooo cute)!!!!!!

Congratulations, Sabine!

Jackson is precious.

sunkist (and snlee and sweet pea!)- Thank you! The art is just fabric stretched over various sized canvases. It was a lot of fun to do. As for our floors, my guess would be cherry too. We rent, so I'm not 100 percent sure.

phoenix- Love your nursery! I really like the neutral walls with the pink and deeper brown accents.

RE: Carseats- For those who prefer simplicity in baby gear, I have a Graco Snugride that's free of obnoxious patterns. The color combo is called 'platinum,' and it's black and tan and matches our car (and Henry's stroller) quite nicely. Just thought I'd throw that out there!

True. Both my sister and I failed the one hour tests, but passed w/ flying colors for the 3 hr ones.
I failed the one hr w/ a much higher number than that, but my 3 hr one came back w/ numbers well below the max.
Fast 12 hrs for both the one hr and 3 hrs too.

Congratulations Sabine and Mr. Sabine and Welcome Jackson!!!
Jackson is adorable. Your dr. was pretty right on with his weight.

mara
We have the Quinny Buzz. I don''t know if it''s typo, but it doesn''t fold automatically. It unfolds automatically. We love the stroller. There are always people asking about the stroller everywhere we go. It is wider than most strollers; it''s not an issue with us since we don''t use public transportations.

You ladies have some great nurseries. Too bad, we don''t get to do a nursery for baby #2. We let SIL move into our extra bedroom until she gets back on her feet.

Love all the belly pics. You all have such cute tiny bellies; all of you look smaller than your gestation weeks.

I failed my 1 hr test by 3 points... I was thinking so close also. LOL. I passed all four blood drawings of the 3 hr test.

Now I have to fast again and do the THREE HOUR!. I''m going to be so HUNGRY!!!. Is it horrible that I''m more worried about how hungry I will be than the potential of failing the 3-hr test?
