CONGRATS SABINE!!!

Welcome Jackson! What a beautiful baby.

sweet pea - You still fit in your pants?? Mine stopped fitting me at 14 weeks, I was already showing then. I''m starting to feel pretty huge looking at the pictures and reading the stories... The lady you met would probably tell me I must be expecting twins or something (which I''m not). Like I told Mandy, I only gained 6 pounds or so, but I''m 5''1", 115lbs pre-preggo, so the baby has to grow somewhere...

pinkflamingo - Congrats! Wishing you all the best.

visla - You look amazing too!

18w2d here and nothing to report. Will post a belly pic later!

OMG SABINE!!! He is absolutely LOVELY! Congrats on your ADORABLE new son!!!!

as an aside, holy cow CC - you are NEXT. and then me. GAHHHHHHH

OK, here are some pictures of the nursery as promised! (I hope this works!)

That chair was passed along from friends and it is too big for our small (7' by 10') room, so we are in the process of finding a slimmer glider.

Omgosh, I love the elephants! I adore elephants, and when my friend had her last girl I was so annoyed that boys are generally the gender that gets cute elephant stuff. Yay!

CONGRATULATIONS SABINE AND WELCOME JACKSON!

And here I am at 28 weeks 1 day.

I know it really doesn't look like I have gained 33 pounds, and that should console me . . . but it's just hard to lug around 28% more weight than I'm used to, and I still have 12 weeks to go.

GAH! jackson is fantastic!! congrats sabine!!!!!! can't wait to hear your story!

congrats also to pink flamingo! wishing you a healthy and happy 9 months!

mandy - my dr. told me 28 weeks is the start of your third tri.

thanks for the compliments ladies.... although i'm NOT tiny
3.gif
it helps that i'm tall (5'10").
i started this pregnancy at 132 lbs and have gained 25 so far (!) i guess i'm lucky that i *am* tall and the weight seems to be evenly dispersed... although at the beginning i ONLY gained weight in my middle... all spare tire like. actually, i can still rock a muffin top in certain pants :) lucky me!

so i had my glucose test today... it wasn't bad... but i wish i could have poured it over ice
3.gif
i also mentioned to my dr. that i've been having back pain on my right side and accompanying rib pain on the same plane... so she ordered a kidney ultrasound to check the size of my kidneys
20.gif
20.gif
?? saying something to the effect of checking my kidneys to make sure they are not enlarged? i'm not sure what to think, and i don't really want to do any internet research and freak myself out, but did anyone else have this issue?

oh, and the car seat i registered for was recalled
14.gif
14.gif
- i spent *weeks* researching the exact one i wanted, and while i can still buy the non-recalled seat - i'm hesitant. i bought the phil & teds stroller specifically b/c it went with the maxi cosi. now i feel like i'm back at square one. i went to buy buy baby (LOVE THAT STORE) last night to check some of the peg perego, britax and chicco seats .. i just don't like them as much as the maxi cosi.. they seem soooooo big and cumbersome. any recommendations?

happy friday! where are those bellies??? :)

oh, i have my first baby shower tomorrow.... my MIL and her relatives are having a 'ladies brunch' for me. i think my mom is a little miffed she wasn't invited AND that they are having the "first" shower. i'm freaked b/c the babe's room is NOwhere near finished and i have no idea where we are going to put this stuff... it all is going to seem really real real real after tomorrow isn't it????

ETA - phoenix and amber you both look amazing! and that nursery phoenix... GAH!!! i ADORE it! love love loves it!

Welcome to the world Jackson! Congrats Sabine! He''s beautiful!!!

CONGRATS SABINE!!! Jackson is absolutely precious!!

phoenix you are so tiny and what a super cute belly you have!!

amber you look great!

congrats Sabine - what a cutie!!!!

viz...the maxi cosi was recalled? that was my favorite so far as well... is there more info you can link me to? honestly 90% of the car seats i have seen are hideously ugly....i am weird about that kind of stuff. it doesn''t have to be fashion plate but i am sooo not a fan of the weird prints and crap that most american strollers and car seats and most baby stuff has on it. give me a plain fun euro color and i am happy.

congrats sabine, that is one good looking boy!!
PG you are absolutely tiny and the nursery is very cute.
congrats pink flamingo...
apple... yeah honestly when i found out at 4.5 weeks i was like JEEZ seriously. gone are the days when people zone out til like 9 weeks and miss most of the first few weeks of freaking out i guess. so the wait from 4 to 13 was VERY long. esp since i didn''t want to tell many people til i felt i was really past the risky time, even though technically we didn''t have anything specific to worry about. but yeah hiding not drinking from friends when we have social events every weekend was super tough. i had to tell 3 friends but other than that i kept it mum (oh and told my mom since they are always in our house picking up and dropping off portia so they would have seen something laid out at some point) til around 10-11 weeks and then told work at 12 weeks. now that people know it''s SO much more liberating, like... i don''t have to feel like people are going ''wow mara is getting FAT'' hahaha. but on the other hand then you have all these people asking you how you are doing all the time and i am like ''leave me alone jeez''. so it''s a double edged sword.

Here''s my 18w2d belly pic as promised. It''s pretty dark compared to the other two pics I posted, not too sure what happened.

Congratulations Sabine! I''m so happy for you.

Hi mamas to be! Glad to hear things are going well. Keep baking everyone!

mara - only a certain # of maxi cosi car seats were recalled - so if a store/site is still selling the car seat they aren''t affected by the recall. albee baby has the infant seat on sale for $109... which is a steal! + free shipping.

the bummer is that babies r us (where i registered) took the maxi cosi off their shelves ... i.e. no one can buy it for me
3.gif
. i guess where i''m torn right now is that the maxi cosi only goes up to 22lbs AND 22inches and doesn''t have the grooves to fit on a shopping cart. the goal is to keep the babe rear facing as long as possible, and if your baby is a string bean, this might mean switching to a convertible car seat sooner (and they don''t recline as much as an infant seat.) but i totally feel you about the styling... i''ve tried out so many other car seats and they either 1) feel like junk or 2) are so flipping big and cumbersome that i get turned off right away.

anyhoodles.. this is the recent recall notice from carseat.org

sorry - the seat goes up to 29" in length :)

vizsla, don't be discouraged about the Maxi Cosi. They will probably replace all of them with new bases. It's a reputable company so they're not going to let their stuff be off the shelves for very long. I'm a huge fan of Maxi Cosi, you'll love their Priori which is the next step up in carseats. So much nicer looking than everything else out there and safe. And I'm so happy you are a Phil & Teds owner! I swear, if I could tell everyone to get that stroller, I would! I wish I had known about it before I got my Bugaboo which is now sitting unused because the P&T is my daily stroller now. It's so awesome and the 2nd seat attachment (for when you have #2 although you're not thinking about that now!) is fantastic and so easy to take on and off. Good choices!!

Sabine, congratulations! Jackson is gorgeous!!!!!

SABINE- Congrats!!!! Jackson is perfect, can''t believe how cute he is. Hope you''re feeling well and enjoying your new love.

Oh no, how did I miss Robbie''s post? Congratulations Sabine!!! Jackson is a cutie, and I love the name!

Thanks for the compliments on the nursery and the mysterious 33 pounds.

Mandarine
, there''s really no free space in the room except maybe 18 inches between the crib and the window wall and the space behind the door. The door opens the wrong way because there used to be door between the two bedrooms to let air circulate pre-air conditioning, so if we switched the way the door opened, we could fit the white dresser behind the door (it would fit now but the door would bump into it), pull the crib back, and maybe fit the glider over between the window wall and the crib. We''d also find it easier to peak in on the baby while she''s sleeping. The catch is that DH vetoed this idea because the door wouldn''t fit properly if flipped (old house . . . things have settled over 90+ years). I suppose he could switch which side the hardware is on, which might look a little weird, but he really doesn''t want to. So anyway . . .

I ordered this glider today! It''s black, not espresso, so now we''ll have black, espresso, and white all in one tiny room. But I think it will look ok. It was the only stock chair they had at BRU that I liked the look of at all, and a special order would take 10-12 weeks. We wanted to stick with Shermag since they are slimmer (this will be ten inches narrower than the current chair). I found some Shermag espresso options on Walmart.com, but I was worried about buying a chair I hadn''t tried out (Baby Bargains says that the BRU and Walmart lines of Shermag are different quality/construction). Plus I got the chair and ottoman for $214 out the door (well, not literally since it will take 7 to 14 days to come in . . . but I mean including tax) because all gliders are 20% off at BRU today and tomorrow, and then the checkout girl magically swiped a coupon for an additional 15% off. So basically I got the nicer model for the Walmart price. Yay!

curly! i totally love phil & teds.... and i don''t have a babe to push around in it yet :) i LOVE the jump seat in the back for when we have a second... and i *love* that you can use it for infants b/c of the reclining feature .... i pushed it around the store again last night just to remind myself how much i heart it :) i actually got quite the steal too.. albee baby has some fantastic closeout deals... got the double sport buggy for $299 and free shipping! (i''m also coveting the p&t hook-on chair as well).

question.... would you recommend getting the adapter bar for the maxi cosi infant seat? is it necessary? i was planning on using one of those car seat inserts and just reclining the seat so i wouldn''t have to set the infant seat on top of the stroller (tee hee... the priori is next on our list of car seats :)

also, i called albee baby and they assured me that they couldn''t, by law, sell a seat that has been recalled in any way, so i went ahead and ordered the maxi cosi that they have on closeout - $109 out the door (free shipping too) - and i was half tempted to order the priori ... it''s on closeout for $139.
