Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Sabine, you look great! I am so excited for you! Good luck tomorrow!

MonkeyPie, congrats!

PSA for the preggos. Swine flu.

They are saying if you are pregnant you are more prone to coming down with the swine flu. Pregnant woman are urged to get the vaccine that will be available this fall. Women in their second and third trmesters are most at risk... I don't have a link, am typing as I am hearing this on the news..

You will have to weigh the risks of the vaccine, etc...

You'll have to talk to your OB GYN, etc.... But wanted to give you all the heads up....

And when you do find info after talking with your Doc's please post it here, it will help many even if they don't post...

Thanks, Lisa

Ok so I *guess* it''s time for me to fess up since I have been lurking on this thread for a while now and I practically outted myself on the amnio thread.
9.gif

I''m 13.5 weeks pregnant.... we have been talking about it for years (literally) but it wasn''t until our recent 5 year anni trip that we said, well lets just try and SEE...''I''m sure it will take us FOREVER because hello I am 34 with old eggs and you are 40 with sluggish sperm'' (we had no idea this is just the silly convo we had HAHAA).

Well it didn''t take forever because that fun anniversary weekend was it, BOOM. I had nausea from week 7 to 12 (and sometimes I still get it), have gained 3 lbs thus far, and my pants don''t fit anymore. I had horrible gas and indigestion to start. So depressing to not have control over your body...I am used to always feeling great with lots of energy so this not feeling well is quite strange to me.

We''ve had four viewings of the nugget so far. 5 weeks where we just saw the empty circle; 8 weeks where we saw the alien looking embryo; 12 weeks for my nuchal ultrasound (such detail!) and one on Monday for our 13 week regular checkup. It''s amazing to me how well formed the nugget was at week 12, pretty much DONE, now it just keeps growing. The science of it all is so crazy.

Anyway my due date is Jan 31/Feb 1... so Steph I am really close to you. We don''t know the sex yet but at last visit the DR said she *thought* maybe boy but admitted that the spot could be labia that just hadn''t separated yet. SO we''ll see!

YAY MARA!!!!!!!!!! I''ve been hoping for an announcement like this from you for ages. I just always thought you guys would be such awesome parents. I''m so excited!

And Monkeypie! I thought I responded to you already. I''m so sorry! Congratulations Mama!

Kaleigh,
Thanks for posting this. I saw this on the news the other night. It is really scary b/c one of Adam''s co workers just got diagnosed with swine flu and he was just in a closed door meeting with him the day he left for the doctor. Adam is freaking out and is telling me if I so much as sneeze, go to the doctor. I will ask my ob/gyn about the vaccine next time I''m there as I will be in the 3rd trimester in the fall.

Okay, so I know it''s way early, but I need help on names! DH and I love several girl names, so it should be easy to choose from the list, but boy names are so hard for us for some reason. Here are my choices, please put in your vote:

Girl:
Ava Grace (99% sure I''m going with this)
Anna Grace
Audrey Grace

Boy:
Evan
William (Will) (love this name, but our last name starts with W, so don''t know if it sounds funny?)
Owen (family name so it is special, but not sure if it sounds right with last name)

Any other suggestions for boy names? We really love traditional names, but DH has such a large family and almost all the uncles/cousins have taken up the traditional names we love. DH refuses to name our boy something that is already in the family. Thanks!

I love Ava and Audrey so you definitely can't go wrong with those names.

I'm definitely partial to Evan as that's going to be my little one's name

Sabine: Less than 24 hours until you will have your Jackson! That's so crazy---I hope you are doing okay and I hope your mom is keeping you calm...Best of Luck!

Thanks for all the happiness sent my way ladies - we feel it!

I don''t have a due date yet, I am waaaay too early. I haven''t even been to my first pre-natal appointment yet, which is scheduled for the 13th. If I am correct on what day I conceived - and I think I am, it was an "oopsie" if you catch my drift - then I am due in late March/early April.

Sabine: Wow! You''ll have your baby at this time tomorrow! I wanted to wish you luck and tell you that you look fantastic.

Steph: yay for a goo appointment!

Mandarine: Cute belly! No pics from me, but for belly pic Friday I think I''ll have some ready! Why can''t it be Friday already???

Omgosh! Your belly is the epitome of adorable. You look so cute!

ok.. i was wondering how this thread was able to move so fast in 1 day... congrats mara!
i felt like crap - body image wise - since i first started gaining weight.... now that i''m 28 weeks and *finally* look PG it''s been easier to adjust to the way i look. however, while working out this morning, one of the girls i work out with said to me "you are the most unhappy PG person i''ve ever met" -- i immediately got freaked out and down on myself about not being *super* excited about being PG.... she later elaborated on her comment by saying that she''s amazed how hard i am on myself about my body when she thinks i look fantastic. i really have been hard on myself.. but like phoenix said.. it took me 32 years to feel good about my body and now i have no control over it. i still work out 4 days a week and try and take the dog on a long walk 3 days a week. i honestly think that if i didn''t work out in some capacity i would feel a million times worse about my *new* figure. i still workout with weights with a trainer, cardio on the treadmill (walking on incline), and take a pre-natal yoga class. as far as clothes are concerned.. i''ve bought almost no maternity tops. but had to finally give up my ''regular'' pants with a rubberband and bellaband for maternity only pants (and yoga type pants). i''ve found that old navy runs a size smaller (than my normal size) gap maternity runs true to size - maternity tops are HUGE - so i always buy them a size smaller than my regular size. also, for high-end jeans i went up one size from my pre-preggo size and they fit.

finally, i didn''t read any PG books either.. however, i really liked "secrets of the baby whisper" and "healthy sleep habits, healthy child."

sabine?!?! what''s the good word?!?!?!

well i have my glucose test tomorrow am. my midwife told me it was OK to eat something like oatmeal etc. before the test.. which i will probably have to do b/c if i don''t eat in the AM i''m likely to barf orange drink everywhere.

Kaleigh - I saw that on the news yesterday. I''m on the fence with this one... I''m on preventive leave at work so I don''t think I''m much at risk staying home, and I worry about the potential effects of a vaccine on the bebe. So, I don''t know.

Mandy - Is that really you?? I swear I''m a big as you at 18 weeks with ONE kiddo.

You look fantastic.

Morning everyone! While my little monkey is sleeping, I thought I''d try to catch up a bit.

Sabine- You are all belly! The best of luck with your birth- can''t wait to see photos of Jackson!

Mara- Congratulations!
36.gif
I got a boy guess at ~12.5 weeks and the tech was right!

MonkeyPie- Another big congrats!

Steph- I really like Evan and think it goes best with Andrew (Andrew, right?)

For the rest of you nearing the big day, I''ll be thinking good thoughts and sending easy labor/delivery vibes your way.

I was finally able to get a couple quick nursery shots yesterday! The one below is the wall art project we did, which is over the dresser/changing station. The quality of the photos is seriously ''meh,'' but I was working with tricky light.

And this is the view you see as you walk into the nursery. The rest isn''t too interesting- the rest of the crib, a closet, and the changing table station. Don''t worry, the blue thing bunched up in the crib is not a blanket, it''s the breathable bumper we''ve yet to put up since Henry doesn''t sleep in his crib yet. And we''re still waiting on short curtains for over the crib that match the green ones on the window behind the glider.

hi! I'm just jumping in, I'm a new mom and I was kind of away from PS while I was preggo so I never participated in this thread... but I wanted to say congrats to Mara! You probably remember me from back when I used to post under a different name (same avatar). I know we were both on some threads where we were discussing whether to become parents. Well, it is really awesome! I am sure you will feel the same! I hope you have a wonderful pregnancy! Are you already plotting your push present :) ?

Steph hello workout thread buddy! Hope you are well. Congrats on your pregnancy! I had to chime in when I saw your name pics. We just loved Evan. It doesn't sound right with our last name so we couldn't use it. We also liked Benjamin, Matthew, Nathan, and Daniel (also not good with our last name). I've become kind of a nut about internet privacy so I'm not saying what we actually went with, but it sounds like we have pretty similar taste in names. I also really liked David and James but same deal with close family members having those names plus my DH wasn't as big of a fan of those two. So exciting for you!!

EBree what a seriously amazing nursery. Have you posted pics of it on HGTV Rate My Space? I got a lot of nursery inspiration there and I bet yours would inspire others! It is seriously gorgeous! What are the decorations in the corner that look like balloons - are they lighting? They are super cool! Love your wall art too!

Haha, I''ll post a pic tomorrow so you can see. I''ve only gained about 6 pounds, but my belly is growing pretty fast! I''m a shortie (5''1"), so maybe that''s why.

Also, Thank you everyone for the input on legal guardians and godparents. We''re coming closer to agreeing on something...

Ebree, totally cute nursery! It looks very fun and light!

popping in to congratulate monkeypie and mara - wishing you both healthy, smooth and comfortable pregnancies!

ebree, love your nursery btw!!

My friend that is also about 5''1'''' was definitely all belly, but she looked SO cute!!

Well, I just got back from the grocery store and on my way I got pulled over for speeding. Luckily the cop was a softie and let me go when he saw the tears starting to form....I guess these pregnancy hormones that make me cry at the drop of a hat came in handy finally

.

Thanks for all the opinions on the names. My hubby thinks I am OCD for wanting to have everything picked out so soon!

Tao, Thanks I really love Evan too and so far, that is the front runner boy name. It was my number one choice with our first one, but hubby convinced me of Andrew.

Mandarine, oh my you are so cute! All belly for sure! Oh and lol, I kept thinking it was Friday all day since I saw your belly shot!

Monkey, I know it is so hard to wait for that first appointment isn't it? Have you been sick?

Amber, hope you're doing well. I might get brave enough to post a belly shot tomorrow, we'll see.

vizsla, good luck with your test tomorrow!

Anchor, I'm with you on being worried about the side effects from the vaccine. I am at home too, so I don't feel quite as much risk.

Ebree, thank you....yes it is Andrew and I think Evan sounds good with it too. Oh my goodness, the nursery is AWESOME!! Love it!

TanDogMom, thank you I love Evan too and also all of your other choices! How old is your little one?

mandarine WOW, you look wonderful with twins!! i look like that already with 1 kid.

Sabine, wow, that''s some belly! Hope everything goes smoothly tomorrow!

Ebree, LOVE the colours in your nursery! Very light and airy. And the wall project you did is beautiful! Very creative.

Mandarine - I think you look pretty compact for 26 weeks with twins too. I think I''m only a bit smaller than you with one... It''s amazing how differently women carry. Anchor, when you mentioned earlier that you were getting comments from strangers at 17 weeks I was surprised too...because I was hardly showing then. I just started getting comments and I''m 21 weeks today.

I''ll post a pic today as well since I won''t be at home tomorrow. Is that breaking the rules?

This is a 20 week pic...

Thanks for posting the PSA, Kaleigh. Is anyone else concerned about swine flu?? What are you planning to do (if anything) to prevent yourself from getting it?

Ebree, your nursery looks so light and airy! I love it!

steph, I actually haven''t been sick yet - I feel some nausea if I wait too long to eat, and first thing when I wake up in the morning, but otherwise I feel pretty good. I have been making a point to snack on good stuff more often so my blood sugar stays level.

Sha, you have a super cute belly too! I love seeing the belly pics, you ladies are so cute.

I lurk on this thread (not pregnant and not TTC yet) so I never post, but just had to throw a post in saying congrats to MonkeyPie and Mara and good luck to Sabine tomorrow! And also congrats and good luck to all the new mommies and soon-to-be mommies!
