Ok so I *guess* it''s time for me to fess up since I have been lurking on this thread for a while now and I practically outted myself on the amnio thread.
I''m 13.5 weeks pregnant.... we have been talking about it for years (literally) but it wasn''t until our recent 5 year anni trip that we said, well lets just try and SEE...''I''m sure it will take us FOREVER because hello I am 34 with old eggs and you are 40 with sluggish sperm'' (we had no idea this is just the silly convo we had HAHAA).
Well it didn''t take forever because that fun anniversary weekend was it, BOOM. I had nausea from week 7 to 12 (and sometimes I still get it), have gained 3 lbs thus far, and my pants don''t fit anymore. I had horrible gas and indigestion to start. So depressing to not have control over your body...I am used to always feeling great with lots of energy so this not feeling well is quite strange to me.
We''ve had four viewings of the nugget so far. 5 weeks where we just saw the empty circle; 8 weeks where we saw the alien looking embryo; 12 weeks for my nuchal ultrasound (such detail!) and one on Monday for our 13 week regular checkup. It''s amazing to me how well formed the nugget was at week 12, pretty much DONE, now it just keeps growing. The science of it all is so crazy.
Anyway my due date is Jan 31/Feb 1... so Steph I am really close to you. We don''t know the sex yet but at last visit the DR said she *thought* maybe boy but admitted that the spot could be labia that just hadn''t separated yet. SO we''ll see!

PG I was actually talking with my DR about the gain the other day. I have only gained 3 lbs and I am hoping to only gain 12 by end of second TRI. But honestly, I know my body will do what it wants.
So I was asking her what was ''normal'' and she was giving the large ranges they do. But she said really it had to do with what you were about before conceiving. She said if people are overweight technically the DR''s should say, maybe you should only gain 10-15 lbs because you already have some fat stores. But for people who are normal weight she said 20-35 is the range they like to see. If you were underweight then they might WANT you to gain more. I am hoping to stay at 25 lbs, but we''ll see. I know some people who have gained crazy weight NOT even eating unhealthily, just their body went crazy...and afterwards they went back to close to normal quite easily.
So I figure as long as I keep eating decently and not porking out on the milkshakes and fries and staying ''active'' in some way, I should be ok because it won''t be as much ''fat weight'' to get off afterwards. BTW, PG I was thinking of starting a ''Healthy Lifestyle for Preggos'' thread over in the workout section for us control freaks who like to talk about how much we work out and what we eat... hahaha. Also it could be interesting to share ideas about nutrition. Again I think my biggest issue so far is my body and how crazy it is being. I am used to having a lot of control over it.But now as my hub points out ... I am the ''vessel of life''
Mara, I totally busted out my Charlotte pants for my last pregnancy since I was at my largest over the summer and I got tired of wearing skirts and dresses all the time--if you remember the embarrassing moments thread, notice how many people had some pee issues and then you'll understand why it was sometimes safer to wear pants!!! Anyway, I wore them through the bitter end because they just kind of went under my belly and were sooooo comfy. I actually need to get some new ones because I may have done some permanent damage to the elastic plus I just associate them with pregnancy now so I don't want to wear the old ones anymore! But they are perfect for pretty much all stages of the pregnancy. Also, I remember your vast collection of Juicy sweatsuits from the past--if you still have those, they will be comfy and useful too! I wore mine as my "coming home" outfit after giving birth both times! Old Navy also makes awesome long tank tops that I still wear and they have some good tshirts too. Don't spend a lot on maternity clothes--you won't want to look at them again after the baby arrives and I know you will get back in shape into no time so you won't need them for very long anyway!

Mara, I would LOVE for you to start a healthy preggo thread. I miss posting in the normal one!
Sabine, congrats on having a date...I bet you are so excited you will be holding your little one in a few short days! Rest up!
Linda, I swim almost everyday and it is such a great low impact workout!

Linda dear I am not a swimmer. I am a sinker!
Thanks everyone....!! Greg is VERY excited. It is touching actually. I am just hoping I get to see him shed a tear at the birth, it''s a running thing that I have never seen him cry ever. I said... at least well up will you? hahaha. We have been together 9 years now so I guess it''s time.
as soon as we found out, i went online and booked us a 2 week trip first-class to Spain and Portugal. we go in end of aug when i am 4 months...hopefully i like more food then. but it is our last ''hurrah'' and hopefully we''ll enjoy it!
mandarine, i haven''t been able to drink a ton of just water. that is starting to let up but it was so hard, during nausea i could not just drink plain water. it had to be something with sugar like juice or tea or something or else it tasted gross. and hello it''s WATER. and i drink all water all the time typically. so now i am trying to get back into the habit of just water.
cdt...i know we are always hardest on ourselves. i feel like a SOW and people are like ''you look the same''. I am like WOW that is so offensive! hahaa. and then my gf is like..no really you look the same. so as with most body issues, half of it is in our heads for sure.
i''ll start a thread later today in the lifestyle section...yay.
CONGRATULATIONS MARA!!!! I am so exciting for you and Greg. You are one of the few who I remembered from when I first joined PS.
I am sure you still look great, but I understand what you mean about having no control over your body. Hopefully you’ll get the burst of energy for the 2 nd trimester soon.
Sorry I haven’t had a chance to read through the thread and respond to everyone individually. I’ve been busy planning for M’s 1 st birthday party this Sat. Can’t believe that I’ll have 1 yr old tomorrow. Time flies.
Hi to everyone and hope everyone is doing great.
Also want to say Good Luck Sabine in case I don’t get to post on here after today. You look great Sabine. All belly.
