Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Vesper, congrats!!!

your bump is so small steph! it looks great! no bump pics for me for a while. until it's OBVIOUS. and i am jelly you still fit so nicely in your jeans. all my smallest jeans are relegated to STORAGE BINS for now. it was a sad ceremony.

viz and sabine....well i used to have bigger full C boobs when i was about 20lbs heavier years ago. didnt like them. when i lost the weight, i gained perfect little B's that worked so nicely in clothes. i was ecstatic..i also am not a fan of how larger stretches out clothing lines etc. the funny thing is that women who see mine now are like OH you must LOVE THEM. i am like really? no. i am def a smaller boob gal. less to deal with and less painful when working out the way i do. now i am strapping these things up like some swaddled child when i work out and yes also they 'gave me away' to work a bit early as well because people were like 'did mara get a boob job'...hahaaa. i tried to tell people i just gained 10 lbs and they were like really. so i hope mine go back to smaller even though of course Greg is ecstatic. MEN. sabine i have also heard they tend to look deflated after the milk is gone...i am bracing myself for that for sure, but it'll be what it is i guess! oh and i have stretch marks from puberty on boobs and hips already, so i know i am prone, i am slathering on that burt's mama bee stuff like there is no tomorrow on my existing marks, hoping not to get more but who knows.

oh and bras...ugh...i wish that more companies made really soft no underwire tube top style bras with straps, because that is all i want to wear. i don't want underwire touching me at all right now. i bought one from target on saturday that looks fairly comfy but have yet to try it.

congrats and welcome vesper!

Mara, no no...I haven't been able to fit into my jeans since around week 7 or 8!! Those are actually some cheapo maternity jean capris from Target that I bought when it was too uncomfortable to wear my reg. jeans and they are so comfy I wear them all the time! I think I am just showing more b/c I've been pregnant before and my body just knows to inflate I guess!

Yeah, about the chest area....I went from a C to a D with my first pregnancy and never went back down. I did go from a 38D at the very end back to a 34D though, but I am very scared I'll be even bigger after this one! So far, I have stayed the same, but just this week, I have noticed my bra getting tighter. I just got a coupon for VS, so I think it is time for a couple of new ones. I was trying to wait until the halfway point, but it doesn't look like I'm gonna make it
2.gif

does how 'deflated' your boobs get PP have any relation to how long you BF? not that that would make a difference to me, i'm just curious if there is a correlation.

also, i want to give a shout out to palmer's coco butter in the tub.. the regular old school coco butter. it's been WONDERFUL on my growing bump and *i think* has lightened up some old stretch marks i had on my hips.

steph you look great!

Vesper, congratulations once again! Sticky vibes being sent your way . . . I'm an April baby, and I love that diamonds are my birth stone!

Vizla, I'm seriously laughing at the 3 sizes comment. Oh my!!!! And I'm also using Palmer's Coconut Butter. No stretch marks yet (although I did realize for the first time that those things on my hips are stretch marks. I always thought they were little patches of cellulite. Maybe that's pretty much the same thing? I remember them from being a teenager, but honestly I can't remember if I had them before I got a pregnant but I'm guessing so.)

I'm back from my 30 week appointment. All is good! Baby's heart rate is 150, and the nurse tried to figure out how she was positioned since I asked (I often get kicks/punches on both sides of my belly button at once, so I was imagining feet on one end and fists on another). She agreed that it felt like baby girl was sort of diagonal with her head in the lower left of my uterus and her butt/legs on the upper right. I do get a lot more kicks on the right side so I guess that makes sense. What are you doing baby girl???
1.gif

My glucose test result was 107 (not sure what that measures, but I know that's good) and iron was fine, so I'm relieved on that count. I'm up 34 pounds in almost 30 weeks, but the weight gain slowed a bit this time which was a relief as I was projecting to gain half my old body weight at the rate I was going. My sister said her weight gain slowed down in the end with her two previous pregnancies, and I seem to be pretty similar to her.

Speaking of similarities to my sister and boobs, does anyone know where to get size A nursing bras? I am still an A, my sister was always an A even after her milk came in, same thing with my mom . . . . With her last baby, my sister told me she couldn't find any size A nursing bras, and I was like, surely somewhere out there on the internet they can be ordered . . . well I looked, and there's nothing! You can barely find any Bs out there. Or does anyone have any recommendations of good bras that are wireless so the cup size wouldn't matter as much?

It's weird, a few weeks ago I had to go up to my 34As and secure them on the widest or middle setting, but recently they've been feeling looser and I accidentally wore a 32A the other day without noticing. I know your increased lung capacity is at least partly responsible for the increase in band size but I'm not sure why mine is reversing. Hmmm . . . And yes, there is slightly more boob there, but I think I was really more like an 32AA or a 30A before and now I'm more of an 32-34A. When I read in the pregnancy books how much of your weight gain is supposed to happen in your boobs, I'm like, nope, don't think so. I think it's all gone to my butt and thighs!

Re: weight- Most of my coworkers didn''t even know I was pregnant until my work shower...at 32 weeks. And I had to deal with comments like ''I know you''re having a girl because you''re soooo wide'' and a complete stranger said after asking me if I was pregnant ''oh I wasn''t sure since you''re fat.'' So trust me I know how much it sucks but it is what it is and with time you do go back to normal. I gained 45lbs and was down 30 by week two and I have 10 more to go. Re: boobz its the one part that didn''t go crazy but now they''re massive. I can''t even tummy sleep because of it lol

girl.. just rub it in why don''t cha??
3.gif

but since it doesn''t seem like you need need a bra.. check out old navy and their nursing tanks.. they might work well for your small bubbies...
p.s. that''s just me being jealous!

omg fiery...what kind of people do you work with?!?!?! that is horrible!

though my boss did say she thought i was a lot further along than i really was, and thought i was like 5 months when i was about 10 weeks! but that was because i had horrible bloating and gas for the first trimester, now i am actually smaller around the midsection and ribcage than i was then, thank god because i was horrified at how quickly i'd blown up and was like OMG...is this what happens???? and then everyone is telling me they don't show til like 5 months. i was like what is wrong with me??? so i don't hold it against her because i was super bloated, hahaha. i can be more forgiving since i shrunk down now. haha.

PG you are so lucky with your A's....seriously. i put on the target bra i bought today and was like 'this chafes' so i took it off. i am mostly wearing spandex tanks layered with tees and stuff, thankfully work is pretty casual so i can wear things like charlotte pants and a long ruffled tank and flip flops and get away with it. i would hate it if i had to dress up for work and felt like this...the bras i keep trying just seem so constricting. and it's like if you are in the D's then they put those crazy huge fat straps on them and it's like seriously i do not need this to hold up boobs. just some spandex please. i need to obviously design my own line of bra's!

but PG i was going to agree with nursing tanks, that is a great idea esp if you are small, i would love to wear tanks the whole time! so much more comfy.

Mandarine, i hope i don't have a skin tag forming! it's just my left nipple and it's itchy and kind of sore. i'll keep an eye on it anyway but i am hoping it's just kind of dry, i put some of the burt's bees mama stuff on it this morning. i didn't know they made two types, i bought like a pumpkin seed oil cream (super concentrated, like vaseline) and also the regular belly butter which is like a lotion. i like the oil cream because it rubs in clear and also almost has no smell to it. i was starting to associate the belly butter with nausea...haha. viz i have also heard that regular palmers is great...i use that when we go traveling to tropical locales for moisturization!

phoenix- For 'around the house' bras, these are nice: Pull-Over Sleep Bras

A good piece of advice I got when pregnant was to wait until your milk comes in before buying a bunch of bras, because you never know how big they'll get (or won't get!). I was expecting a huge change, but nope- I went from a small B (pre-preg) to a large B (during preg) to a small C (breastfeeding). It sounds like you've got a pretty good idea of what'll happen with family history, but if you do buy, keep the tags on just in case!

Congratulations vesper!

phoenix, our body type sounds similar. My pregnancy weight went to my butt, tighs, arms, and face!

I remained an A throughout pregnancy and I''m still an A while BFing. I highly recommend wearing nursing tanks. I hate wearing bras and the tanks work well. A lot of us have these Gilligan & O''Malley Nursing Tanks from Target. I love them. I have 4 pairs and live in them.

Mara
I had some nipple pain just a couple days ago, but it went away. I think it’s normal. Hope it’s not a skin tag like Mandy.

Funny people are saying that you must be loving your new boobies. I was a 34B before my first pregnancy. I went to 34C during the 1 st trimester, and I was pretty happy with them. But they kept getting bigger. By the end of that pregnancy, I was spilling out of the 34D bras. I hated them, and wearing bras was so uncomfortable. I kept telling DH I miss my B, and doesn’t understand why people want big boobs. DH loved it though. They haven’t really grown for this pregnancy, but I was breastfeeding up until a couple weeks ago. So it’s not like they had time to go back to “normal”. I am not sure what size I am now. I am wearing the 34D bras again, and they seem to fit. The weird thing for me was that I never went up in band number. I was expecting to since everyone was like your ribcage will expand, but nope.

NovemberBride
Good for you for not struggling with your weight.
I didn’t struggle with the weight gain at all with my first pregnancy, but I am with this one. And it’s not even like I gained much weight, but my belly is getting bigger faster this time.

Congrats vesper! You are opposite of me. We took so long to conceive the first time, and this time was like two cycles of not protecting. Took us by surprise.

Viz
From I’ve heard from friends and also on here, whether or not your boobs go back depends on the person. Some people say they went back smaller than pre-pregnancy. Some stayed the same size but deflated. Most say that they are definitely not as perky as before. I think I''ll be the deflated ones. =(

I would definitely wait until after you give birth before buying nursing bras. Get some of those nursing tanks for the beginning, so at least you have something easy for BFing. Then get the nursing bras after your supply adjusted.

Steph
Cute little bump you have there. I was thinking of posting a belly pic too since I had DH take one last Sat. I tend to take belly pic on Sat, so I don’t know if I’ll get to post of BPF.
Sapphire
Good luck at the appt and deciding if you want the induction once you are termed.
phoenix
Your glucose screening number is really good, and everything else sound great too.
Ditto on the nursing tanks. I find them more comfy than the bras anyways.

Vesper - congrats and many wishes for a sticky bean!

I am so jealous of the small booby girls wearing wireless bras and tanks. I started out pre-pregnancy at a 32D (and I am 5''2" with a very small frame, so I already had big boobs for my size) and at 25 weeks I am rapidly outgrowing the 34DD I have been wearing. I don''t even know what size comes next (E?), but I am about to have to find out. My friends with kids have been teasing me about what I am going to look like when my milk comes in. I am not looking forward to it!

Wow, the grass is always greener on the other side! I had no idea people did not enjoy their pregnancy boob growth. I mean, I don''t want to mine to turn from little plums into giant melons, but, ya know, I think I could handle a cup size increase. Of course, now that I hear about the risk of "deflation" I figure it''s safer just never to inflate to begin with . . .
1.gif

Thanks to Snlee and Ebree for the bra recommendations; I have them bookmarked for later (I will definitely wait and see if the size changes but I am not holding my breath!).

Yeah, Snlee, I''m definitely a pear . . . extra weight goes to the butt/thighs. I can''t buy two-piece bathing suits where you can''t mix and match because I need a tiny top and a bottom two sizes bigger.

Yep, still here.

Went to dr appt yesterday. Still no real signs, definitely softening/thinning but no real dilation. Of course, that doesn't really mean anything, it could be days or I could go into labor tomorrow. My doctor doesn't want me to go past 42 weeks, so we are picking an induction date for next week just in case. I still don't want to be induced, but I am ok with being induced past 41 weeks, the pros outweigh the cons for me at that point. I am just glad I made it this far. Sooo, how does one go about picking a birthday for their child!?? Seems a bit weird to me. Though I am a rational and intelligent human being for the most part, I do have a fascination/belief in astrology and I can't help but think he should choose his own birthday. I know that's silly, but still!!!! So DH and I are trying to pick a date. I am torn b/w picking Friday the 21st, b/c that's the latest day and gives him the most time to come on his own, or picking the 18th or 20th (DH likes these dates better). We'll see. I am still hoping he'll come on his own.

Sapphire- You are so going to have your baby before me, I can tell. I am starting to feel like Rachel on Friends, when she's at the hospital and everyone that comes in after her has their babies first!

Let us know what your dr says.

Lysser and others re: weight/body image: LL, I am glad you said something. This thread is for ALL preggos and we all have different issues. I think if it was bothering you, then I am glad you said something. One of the things I love about PS and this thread is how different so many of us are and we come from all different backgrounds and POVs. Reading other people's perspectives on things helps keep us aware and sensitive to things we may not think about, and also has helped me personally be less judgmental of some things. And I believe that everyone on this thread has good intentions, and obviously wouldn't say something to intentionally hurt another. So it's GOOD to make people aware of how things can come off. I know I would want to know if something I said was either misconstrued or struck a nerve that I wouldn't have known about. And I know you were personally talking about weight gain=fat=gross, but I think there is a larger issue with women and our body images. I really hate how much pressure and focus gets put on our physicality and weight gain when we are preggo, rather than focusing on the positive and amazing fact that our bodies are strong and can actually grow another human being. On the other hand, it is a real issue for most women, unfortunately, and the control issues are a whole different animal. So I think it's great that women who are having a hard time with their bodies can come here and vent, and I also think it's important for people to say, wait a minute, think about what you're saying. I personally have a really hard time with other people's comments/expectations of preggo women. I haven't gained that much weight, and people actually congratulate me on it, which I think is weird and a bit offensive. I have no control over it. Your body does what it needs to do while pregnant, and whether it's luck or genetics or whatever, I did nothing differently than my other friend, who did gain a ton of weight. And I think she looked amazing, she was growing a BABY!!! And plus, so what if I DID gain a ton of weight, or if I do next time? I'm pregnant, I'm supposed to gain weight! It just offends me, like women that gain a lot of weight during pregnancy must be lazy or out of control or whatever and we are supposed to stay slim for what exactly? On the other hand, I DO feel a certain amount of relief when I get weighed that I've only gained a certain amount each week. And I hate that, I hate that I even care. I will say that there are clearly women of all shapes and sizes on this thread, and I genuinely mean it when I say that everyone looks amazing. There is something so beautiful and strong about a pregnant woman's body. I am so proud of all of us!

Steph- Speaking of, cute pic, but that's a tiny bitty baby bump!!!! I can't tell what I think gender-wise yet. Though I guessed girl earlier, so I'm sticking with that for now.

Phoenixgirl- I also haven't gained any boobage. A bit fuller maybe, but I can still wear all my old bras. I don't, b/c the underwire is uncomfortable, but they fit. And no, it's really impossible to find any maternity bras or nursing bras in small sizes. I have been wearing these all lace, no underwire bras from Hanky Panky that are so comfortable. As for nursing bras, I went to a store that specializes in nursing, and they say they can make a guess and fit you when you are about 35-40 weeks. There are some brands, such as Medela, that make nursing bras in S, M, and L. I bought a few really comfortable tank and sleeping nursing bras for the very beginning, and then will go get fitted when my milk comes in. If you want me to give you actual names/styles of the bras, let me know. I will say that I ordered one from Gap online, a Medela sleep nursing bra and I ordered a Medium according to the size chart. It's pretty tight now, so I probably need a large.

ETA: Target nursing tanks- I also ordered a bunch of these b/c so many girls on PS recommended them. They are comfy and seem great- though I think some women with larger boobs didn't get enough support from them.

ETA (2): Welcome Vespergirl, and congrats!

There you are China! I was wondering where you were. Maybe the LO will make an appearance on his own. Sending labor dust your way!!!

Went to the Dr today and everything seems to be going well. Didn''t gain any weight in the last couple of weeks (which is crazy considering how much I ate on my baby shower!!!. I''m sure it will catch up with me, sooner or later!

Oooh China, thanks, I see the Medela sleep nursing bra on GapMaternity. That looks perfect. I have a feeling I''ll need to wear "sleep" bras 100% of the time since they tend to run S, M, L as opposed to A, B, C, D. The Medela Comfort nursing bra doesn''t look like it would work as well, but I''ll definitely revisit it later.

for those of you trying some of these sleep bras or the nursing tanks with stretch, please report back in on how they feel and if they are supportive. i tried that gilligan and whatever from target and it was kind of scratchy for me... wah!

china i like the 21st personally hehehe. but yeah i believe in astrology too and it is interesting to think they should choose their own date! maybe you guys won''t have to do it in the end... come on baby!

and i def wish i was more mentally evolved to not care what my body is doing in terms of blossoming. i do feel positive about it most times, but of course there are those moments where it''s like ''jeez what is going on here''.... i am just trying to focus on the after and knowing that part is what i can control...but right now my body is doing what it wants for the child and i am just along for the ride!!

Well Ladies... the U/S was kinda usless...to ME anyway lol. I had someone differant today then usual and they werent as nice and chatty/informative as my usual Tech. So basically I won''t know anything til my OB apt on Fri morning UNLESS my OB calls me prior to that. One thing I dont understand is this: Everytime she tried to get a good face pic from the right side of my pelvis, she couldn''t and would make a comment that the fluid was low/there wasnt enough fluid on THAT side...yet there WAS more on the left. HOW is that possible if the baby is in ONE sac? Anyone know or is that just silly. I''ll post a new U?S pic in a bit... its not a great shot tho

Phoenix- I did try on the Medela Comfort one, but am holding off buying it. It comes up way higher, but the girl at the store said it''s really comfy to sleep in b/c it has more support when your milk comes in. It was more comfy than it looked. I will try to remember to report back afterwards which ones worked.

Mara- Yes, the Gilligan one is a bit scratchy, but I am washing it to see if it''s better. There are similar looking ones called Glamour Girls or Glamour Tanks or something that are nicer.

Sapphire- Hmmm, well I had low fluid as well. My tech and my dr told me that it can change daily, especially if your little one is all stretched out or something. So think about it as the fact that the fluid is surrounding him, and what they can measure depends on the baby position at the time they take the pic during the u/s. So if he''s all on one side, there is less fluid to measure on that side. But if your fluid is really low, they may go ahead and induce you. Fluid can fluctuate, mine actually increased when I went on modified bed rest.

oh CC speaking of the bras and tanks, why do they all come to like your NECK???? how are you supposed to wear anything that is summery with that harness on underneath? seriously...where are the cute demi nursing bras that don''t make you feel like a pack mule for milk?? is it just me?

Mara- I KNOW!!! I asked the same thing and it seems like it''s hard to find. I tried to find just regular bras to wear now, without underwire, and I can''t ever wear them b/c they have such full cup coverage that they peek out of even my t-shirts. That''s why I went to the Hanky Panky lace bras for now. As for after, I will let you know what I find. Elle McPherson makes some pretty nursing bras- one of them is sort of a tank with a bit of lace at the top- so it does show but it just looks like a cute tank. But I haven''t actually tried them yet as they are nursing ones. I have a few friends that had babies a few months ago- one of which is more amply endowed than me, so I will ask her for you. But I know she likes the Elle McPherson ones.

Just wanted to chime in about nursing tanks. My Bravado tank is by FAR the best nursing wear I''ve purchased. If I could go back in time, I''d only buy these. I''m an E/F cup now (was more like a G at first when my milk came in) and this tank is sooo supportive. It has an actual wireless bra in it instead of just a shelf. Target.com sells them, but I got mine from breakoutbras.com. They''re cheaper there and you can find coupon codes and there''s always free shipping.

Bravado is supposed to be coming out a new nursing bra that looks more like regular bra. Here''s the link: http://www.bravadodesigns.com/page.asp?ID=11845. I have the original nursing bra and the microfiber nuring bra. I use the original at home and the microfiber one for going out. I like the support I get from them.

I have an Anita bra that fits more like a normal bra. I usually wear the Bravado original. I like them pretty well, but getting them on is kind of a pain.
Robbie thanks for the tip on the bravado tank - I was wondering if they were worth the $!
I have some of the gilligan and omalley ones, and they are not scratchy at all, but for me they don't offer enough coverage or support to wear alone. I will layer them under another top or wear them around the house or to sleep in, though!

Question for you hot mamas!
4.gif

When did you first feel your baby move? This is my first bebe and I am not sure if I feel the baby move if it''s something else. Iam 13 weeks, it''s probably too early.

Thx...

I didn''t feel it until around 18 weeks for sure. Before that I got flutters, but just wasn''t sure.
13 weeks seem a bit early, but it''s possible that you are sensitive to what''s going on in your body and are feeling the baby.

I posted a side-by-side 15 weeks belly pic from this pregnancy and the last one in the toddler mommies thread if anyone is interested. I thought I would be bigger this time around, but it''s not too bad at all.

thanks. I know I thought that it was that, I don''t want to confuse it with gas. Sorry, TMI. But, I don''t know yet. I guess I will know for sure when the baby is kicking me and shoving me around. LOL...

Mt-its definitely possible and I know a lot of second time moms feel movement earlier. Since you''re a first time mom (right?), my guess is that you probably felt gas. I felt DD note at 17 weeks.

I never understood the whole gas or baby? confusion. I''ve never had gas *move* inside of me. I mean, yeah, I have "passed gas," but I haven''t felt it make jabbing or poking motions on my inside. Is it common for gas to be that noticeable on the inside?

Anyway, my confusion was in figuring out if I was feeling the baby move or if I was feeling my uterus stretch, which I had felt here and there from very early on so I knew it wasn''t the baby at first. At my 16 week appointment, the nurse said the baby was quite active in my belly based on the funny noises she was making on the doppler and that if I wasn''t feeling her yet, I would be soon. But it definitely wasn''t until 18 weeks or so that I was sure that I was feeling the baby and not just stretching. The closest feeling to the stretching that I had experienced before pregnancy was uterine contractions during . . . you know . . . because the uterus was one organ I wasn''t used to feeling otherwise.

So anyway, maybe your uterus is stretching? It does have to grow an awful lot!

The first movement most people feel are more defined movements like kicks or little pokes. However you can feel flutters before then. Flutters are very light and almost feel like popcorn popping or bubbles popping which is why its easy to confuse it for gas or vice versa. The first movements I felt were like little pops and I didn''t know if it was gas or the baby since it was so light and internal.
