we also have our labor and delivery class tonight
3.gif
- my gf/midwife is coming over and giving DH and i a private class - complete with (and i quote) ''80''s power muff videos''. LOL..... i don''t know how much DH is looking forward to it, but it''s not like the way babies have come out of women''s bodies has changed in, oh, the past couple thousand years...

vizsla, LOL! That is hilarious!

Good luck with your amnio, Mara.

Be back later to catch up.

I feel like something is wrong that my body won''t go into labor. I ''know'' that''s silly, but I still feel like I am getting cheated out of the whole going into labor experience.

I totally felt the same way. Don''t feel bad...I felt ridiculous too for feeling this way, but I think it''s a normal feeling to have. Especially when you read so many people''s birth stories. Hang in there!
Aw China! I ditto Mela that it’s a normal feeling to have. I went through the same thing especially since I didn’t even go into the hospital with labor complaints. I was so disappointed when I was told they were inducing. I felt robbed. I couldn’t even do the things I wanted to get done before going into labor: car seat inspection, preparing my home, finishing my hospital bag, doing my hair for pictures (!!). But even though you may not want to hear this right now, I promise this all becomes a distant memory once you do have your baby in your arms. I know that sounds corny but its true. And like DD said, there’s always next time!

Hey ladies! I just came back from the OOT funeral for DH''s grandma (2X6 hours of driving in 4 days is not fun), so I missed a lot! I want to send a ton of labour vibes and PS dust to China Cat!

vizla... i am hoping you meant to say power puff videos because otherwise i need a crash course on what a power muff video is?! awesome about the 'kangaroo' idea, i have never heard that before and i bet my big HMO doesn't do it but oh well, i like the idea.

thx for happy amnio thoughts gals. the idea of waiting for the results IS nerve-wracking, but honestly this whole process is. first i get the amnio, then hope everything is ok for a few days. then i have my appt with the dr on thurs where hopefully we see that all is ok. then i am gone for 2 weeks, where i can have them call me on the trip with results, but i don't know if i want to do that. do i want to know right away or just enjoy the trip and hear when we come back? seriously, should it be this stressful? i am overthinking it, i know.
3.gif
it's very hard not to, but i am trying to be positive. i had a dream last nite where i had already had the amnio and it was like 3 days later and i was like OH i had it! OH i feel ok! all i remember is that i was really happy somehow i didn't remember having it. HA.

nope power muff - think big bushy 80''s perm

and yes, you probably are over thinking it.. but who doesn''t?!? over thinking things etc. is what brought most of us here in the first place ;) plus, instead of over thinking i like the term ''informed''. and you can never be too informed.

go, have a wonderful vacation :)

Thanks for the comments on ''sexy time'', everyone!

China, lovely nursery! I like the orange accents as well. It''s funny that your dog has taken up residence on the rug....I would too...looks like a comfy space!

Tao, thanks for posting the ultrasound pics. In the first shot I kind of see a line that could''ve been mistaken for the vulva, but it looks more like the line dividing the scrotal sac to me? I can see how it would be unclear though. There''s no clear shot of the winky in the first pic. Your little boy is a cutie....it''s great that you were able to get such a clear shot of his face.

peeping in to say that I absolutely love China''s nursery and that I hope that your little man makes his arrival today!!

mara- I'm sure everything is going to go great. I've never had an amnio but all of my friends that did had no problems or really any pain whatsoever. If it were me, I'd want them to call me with the results asap then you can celebrate the rest of your vacation! they really can tell a lot from the in office ultrasounds so since you are having one of thursday hopefully that can really put your mind at ease! best of luck today though and praying that Greg doesn't pass out at the needle

I know it's hard but do try to relax and just enjoy being preggo if you can. I actually had to quit reading what to expect when expecting b/c I was freaking myself out and convinced I was having warning signs she talks about in the book. too much information isn't always a good thing. Are you getting the weekly updates from BabyCenter? I always found those so interesting about the babies development etc. and there isn't anything scary on those updates..lol.

China-wanted to pop in to add that the nursery is adorable. you did a great job!!

China, good luck! I love your nursery and envy all of you who have such great taste and a fantastic touch.

Mara, good luck on the amnio!

Hey everyone, just wanted to post some of my weekend early pregnancy drama. First things first, everything is fine (I''m only 4 and a half weeks in) but my nurse scared the heck out of me last week. My hcg level was 147 at 14 dpo, and she said she thought it was low. So, she asked me to retest on Fri. at 16 dpo both the hcg and progesterone - she told me that she thought I was at increased risk of miscarriage because of low hcg levels, and that''s why she wanted to test the progesterone.

So after 4 sleepless nights, I got the results back today - hcg doubled (as it should) from 147 to 308, and my progesterone at 16 dpo came back at 35, which is way above average. So, they told me that I shouldn''t worry about anything, and I''m going in for my first ultrasound on 8/31. They need to do an early one because I was on Clomid, so they want to see if I''m having one baby or two (PLEASE only one!
emsmileo.gif
) Anyway, after 10 months of TTC and fertility drugs, it''s so nice to finally breathe easy & start to enjoy the pregnancy.

Also, I just thought that I would mention that I am having non-stop cravings for Thai tom kha soup (the spicy lemongrass coconut soup). It''s the only thing that I''ve felt like eating for the past week. Just thought I would share

Mara, good luck with your amnio!

China, I hope that you go into labor today!

be careful--this website says that lemongrass is not a safe herb to injest when pregnant. It says in large amounts though--so I''m sure everything is fine for a bit in soup....
Hey taovandel, thanks for the link - I didn''t know that! Even though I''ve wanted it every day, I''ve only had it twice, but I will definitely watch my intake - interesting article ...

I did read a bit down and saw this part in the article, so hopefully that means I''ll be OK with the occasional indulgence

Note: You can still eat food that contains herbs like rosemary and sage, because the amounts used in food are generally much smaller than those used in tea — and not as potent (the brewing process for making tea concentrates the chemicals of the herbs).

Vesper-I would be prepared that you could be having twins. I didn''t mention it before because I didn''t realize you had been on clomid. But your very early positive test plus very high levels of hormones sometimes do mean multiples. And if you had been on clomid too-well it''s a likely possibility...

You know, I was really freaked out about the possibility of twins, so I discussed it with my ob before I started taking the Clomid. She told me that since I was only taking 50 mg (and I only took it for two cycles) she didn''t think that my chances of twins would be above 7%. Also, my nurse thought that my hcg levels were on the low side at 14 dpo, so hopefully that means it''s just one.

I really sound like I''m in denial now, don''t I?
emembarrassed.gif
I talked to DH about the possibility of twins before starting the Clomid, and he said the more the merrier ... His mom told us that if we do have twins, she''ll take the girl for a couple of years (she only had boys of her own)

Hi everybody!!!

This is my first post in the prego thread. I have been reading here on and off and figured it was about time I joined in.

I am 32 and I am 16 weeks 4days today with my first. My due date is Jan 30th. I have had a heck of a first tirmester. I have had bad ms and had to go on nausea meds which I have not had to take for the last week thank goodness! BUT....now I have developed gallstones!! I ended up in the ER last friday night. They gave me Vicodin to take for the pain (I ddin''t take them though) and to follow up with my OB and primary MD.

Just curious if anyone else developed gallstones when they were pregnant and what happened? Did anyone get their gallbladder out while pregnant? They are talking about that if my pain does not get better and my WBC''s don''t go down. I am very afraid to get surgery anytime never the less when I am pregnant!! For now I have to try to eat a low fat diet, which is not very easy that is for sure, and see what happens. I am a bit nervous

Looking forward to enjoying this journey with all of you!

Congrats KT!! I am sorry you have had such a rough time. I can''t answer about the gallstones, hopefully someone will be able to chime in on that...

But welcome!!!

Best of luck China!

I totally get what you mean about feeling cheated. I think we all have this idea of how labour and the birth should be, and then when it''s not you have to readjust.

I was talking to my mother a few weeks ago and said that I felt that I had copped out a bit because Daisy was a forceps delivery in theatre rather than a normal delivery entirely under my efforts. She told me I was nuts, that 54 hours of labour was hardly copping out and if I thought about it I had still had to push even with the forceps so I had ''participated''.

Open mind is best - and honestly a few weeks down the line it''s all a bit of a blur. Safe and healthy mother and babe is the only thing that really counts.

Congrats KT!

I don''t know much about the gallstones, but I think one of my girlfriends has this issue - I''ll find out and let you know!

Thanks everyone.

Well, my fluids are low again- at 5 and of course I am NOT DILATED AT ALL, cervix totally closed.
38.gif

If I was dilated, I was thinking of waiting a day or two to see if he would come on his own, but no such luck. Also, feel better about it b/c of the fluids, my dr now strongly recommends I keep tomorrow as the attempted delivery date. Which makes me feel a bit better, sort of like it''s out of my hands and is what is best for the baby at this point.

Pandora- I remember your labor, you did NOT cop out! You were amazing. Funny how our own perspectives are so different.

Thanks to all the preggos and the mommies that chimed in to wish me luck, this is such a great place for support.

KT- Welcome!!!!

Vesper- Can''t wait to see if it''s twins or not!

Ok, well this is ChinaCat, signing out at 41w2d. I go into the hospital in about 2 hours. They will give me an oral pill to start dilating me (hopefully) and then start pitocin tomorrow if all goes well.

XOXO to all the preggos. See you on the other side!

Wish me luck!!!!!

ChinaCat--
