MonkeyPie, my DH & i cracked up over your ''it''s a boy'' US pic - too funny!

Lol! It was seriously hilarious - the moment she touched the wand to my belly, that was what we saw. He''s an exhibitionist!

MP- Congratulations!!

The funny thing is, until I see the "money" shot
2.gif
, there is no way I can believe 100% that I am having a boy! lol!

Thank you! And yes, I couldn''t believe it, either - but he was wiggling all around and his "bits" were moving with him, so it was pretty obvious lol. My FIL was like, "Maybe it was just the umbilical cord!" But no dice lol.

meresal: if you have any u/s shots, head to ingender.com and post the picture to get some more opinions.

Too funny about your MIL. Was she hoping for a girl?

I know that mine is, and when we told her that the doctor believes the baby is a boy, MIL''s reply was, "Well lets hope that nothing falls off before the next appointment!"
33.gif

tao- Once we get a decent pic, I will do that. Our last one was very quick and even I could barely tell what the u/s was showing us a picture of. We have an appt tomorrow so hopfeully we''ll get our "moeny" shot, but if we don''t and she is still thinking boy, then I will definitely head over there. Thanks!

Our whole family, both mine and his, were all hoping for a girl - tons of baby boys (and grown ones!) and not a single baby girl. We tried, lol.

I hope you get a good money shot at this ultrasound! It made it so much easier to attach a name to the baby and get even more attached lol. My husband kept calling it, "IT", and I was not impressed lol.

Go Ambe!!!!

Yay Amber!

MP-Didn''t read that you are having a boy. Congratulations
36.gif

our doctor told us at 12 weeks she thought it was a boy but she wasn''t sure...she said that she is still trying to ''hone'' her skills for that sort of thing, plus i know at that stage it can be either way really, but she felt based on the ''three white lines'' that it was not labia. so at 15 weeks for our amnio, which apparently is still kind of early to know ''for sure''...the tech was like well do you want to know... and she said see this and she was showing something and honestly i cannot focus on anything in those images. it took me like 2 minutes and she had to draw the arrow for me to see it...HA HA. i am blind! then she got a better angle of it and we were like OK no mistaking it!!! greg was like ''wow it''s so big... i was like what a typical man.
6.gif

go amber, we are thinking of you!! hope all is going well.

RPS yeah i''d much rather be surprised by a week early or something than waiting for him to come, but i guess we''ll see what happens! i am also taking the 2 weeks before birth date off so i am hoping he doesn''t go too late or else i am just sitting around doing nothing but waiting.

it''s good to hear not everyone goes crazy with the baby proofing. sure i know we''ll have to do some things. but i don''t want some barren household kinda thing. i like the idea of the baby learning to live with us.

steph...good that you brought up looking small to your DR. i know you look small but if he''s not worried then neither should you be. people carry differently! i have felt some movements WAY back in my uterus, almost feels like it''s in my BACK so it makes me feel like the uterus is larger than we just see in the front so there is prob a lot of room in there.

our guy has been pretty active, thankfully he moved back into what feels like mostly close to his old position, drumming on the top left of my belly with i think elbows or knees.

we also scheduled our 3d ultrasound for friday, i am SO EXCITED to see him again, it''s been since i think 20 weeks?? i can''t wait to see what and who he looks like. i hope he is in an ok position for a viewing of the face, apparently sometimes it''s hard to get them to move and given how he has his ''fave'' positions, he prob won''t be easy to maneuver around. so keep fingers crossed for us please, we are bringing my mom, sis and grandma with us as well as they have this big viewing room. haha.

other than that, work is INSANE, i had 5 hours of meetings yesterday and have 3-4 more today..but i am taking tomorrow off because i need some R&R and my friend is coming over to take BELLY SHOTS of me. she is fledgling photographer and really wanted to so i said ok. i plan to be clothed, but just maybe belly showing. she is a fashion maven and does makeup too so i know she will make me look way better than i do in regular life...lol. i am excited to see what she comes up with.

last bit of news...we unpacked our organic mattress and put it in the crib and WOW it is like holy crap there''s going to be a baby in there soon! so weird how the mattress drives home the point like almost nothing else. yikes!!

Mara, I would love to see those pictures if you''re comfortable sharing them! I did one maternity shoot last year and it was so much fun.

About the crib/mattress, my husband brought home the travel system last night and when I pushed it through the living room I was like, OMG, there will be a baby in that thing in 4 months, eeeeek! Lol thankfully we have time to learn how to the straps work
3.gif

Amber, I hope by now you''re holding your baby!

It''s so exciting waiting for an update, but it kind of cracks me up that now people can and do post from the hospital. Here''s where I show my age...I remember when you had no choice but to wait until Mom and baby came home from the hospital to know all the details.
1.gif

Mara, I feel for you with the insanity at work. Things have just now calmed down for us, which is good because I find myself being less and less interested. I have off from tomorrow until Monday and then 2 weeks around Christmas and New Year''s so I''ve essentially hit the coasting period until the beginning of the year. The one really good thing about being busy is that it keeps your mind off how slow the last part of pregnancy can go.

I''d love to see your photos too if you don''t mind sharing. I''ll bet they''re going to be lovely.

Good luck to Amber.
I hope you are holding your little angel right now.

Mara--
Me too...please share the pictures (belly and the 3D) if you don't mind.
Haha, your mom is really convinced that your little boy is going to be early huh?
I wouldn't be surprised if he does make an early appearance since you don't seem to have much room in your short torso :)

Go Amber! I hope that you''re holding your baby by now.

Rock and Jas - George was born at home, and I''m definitely planning on homebirths for all future children (provided I do not risk out for some reason). I think that the most challenging aspect of birthing at home is dealing with the pain, and if you can deal with an augmented labor without pain relief, I think you have that one under control.
2.gif

yeah I will def post any good pics that come out of the session hehehe. and i''ll post if we get a good 3D. I am super excited about that...we are wondering who he will look like. my cousin said her baby looked very much like what the 3D showed.

lili...on one hand i would love him a week or two early but on the other hand if he comes early it throws my out of out of office maternity schedule all outta wack...so i would have to take like 1-2 weeks unpaid most likely at the end of my leave. so that''s the bad part. i guess we''ll see!

oh sha i meant to say too that my dr says you really never know... that some women she has seen are totally closed at 37 or 38 weeks then BOOM a week later there''s the baby. on the flip side i have known a few gals who walked around dilated for 2-3 weeks at 3cm and had to be induced!

Definitely depends...I was completely closed...NOTHING happening at 5pm on a Tuesday (I was 37w5days), he was born at 4:30pm on Wednesday (37w6d). So you just NEVER know!

Ditto. I wasn''t closed but I was 3cm at 38w. Two days later I went in to labor and never progressed passed 3cm on my own.

Blen, that''s so awesome that George was born at home. I honestly cannot say enough good things about homebirth. The pain was different for me and I don''t know that I can explain it. With #4, I went into labor in the evening, around 7, and we went off to the hospital with the kids in tow (small county hospital, this was fairly standard). My DH (at the time, now ex) ended up going back and forth between me and the kids in the waiting room, so I had a hard time dealing with the pain. My two prior births were med free hospital births, but for #4, I had an epidural. I wasn''t progressing, I was tired, I wasn''t dealing with the pain -- it seemed like a logical choice. Our daughter was born an hour later, so it really worked to relax me!
9.gif

With Will, I think knowing that pain relief was simply not an option kept me from dwelling on it. I dealt with the pain any way I had to because I had no choice. And I never perceived the contractions as being as painful as when I was having my daughter, either. Weird.

Mara, sounds like we have to keep our fingers crossed that your little one comes right on time!

Sha, Mara''s right. Dilation means nothing as far as when someone will go into labor. I''ve known women that were closed up tight at a doctor''s appointment with the doctor saying they wouldn''t go any time soon...and they went into labor very soon after. I walked around dilated to 4 cm for 2 weeks without a contraction in sight. This is why I don''t bother with internals at the end.
1.gif
Aren''t our bodies amazing things?

Had my 24 week appt. today. Everything is status quo. Went to the dentist as well. My OB has really stressed the importance of dental health during pregnancy and I was glad to get that done as I was two months overdue (had some issues with old dentist, needed to find new dentist).

Baby Stuff: Not having much of anything in the house has meant not feeling the "in a few months there will be a kiddo in XXX/using YYY."

Amber, can''t wait to hear from you! Hope you are doing well!

Well, yesterday was a sad day. Finally had to take off my wedding ring. I told Adam I don''t feel right without one on and he told me to go buy a cheap silver ring to wear. Unfortunately, I have a nickel allergy and pretty much anything but platinum breaks me out, so that''s not going to work...he was like, "so you''re telling me, you''re allergic to cheap!" Haha, yeah I guess my skin has expensive taste
3.gif

Kimberly, glad you had a good appointment and went to the dentist, too. It''s amazing how pregnancy can do a number on your teeth! I go for a cleaning in a couple of weeks and can''t wait because brushing my teeth has been an ordeal this whole pregnancy with my gag reflex acting up. I had to quit using my sonicare early on and go to a regular brush, which I hate.

Steph, I think the only answer here is to get yourself a new plain platinum band in a slightly bigger size!
9.gif

I have a huge to do list this weekend in order to get ready for the holidays. I really want to rearrange the furniture in the living room and then put up the tree and get the holiday cards all done. I also have a bunch of clothing that I need to pack away so SO can take it up to our farmhouse to go into storage. The problem is that I get tired so easily that I know I''m not going to get everything done myself. I hope that I can wrangle the kids into helping out a little more than I usually ask them to.

Our tree is going to be the same colors as last year -- white tree with black and silver balls and bows. Even though my mother thinks this is an abomination, it''s really quite beautiful. But my older daughter asked this morning if we could add purple in there, too, and I had to tell her that the tree would then look like a big ol'' bruise.

Rock - my labor started at page 579 of this thread, if you''re interested in all of the details.
1.gif
I really needed my DH there all the time at the end (I''m not sure if the poor guy went to the bathroom or had a drink of water from 8 pm on, and G was born at 12:56 am), and can see how hard it would be for him to be splitting his time between me and a waiting room. I''d post more, but George just woke up and we''re going on a little trip out of town today to meet his great grandma, and so we need to get going if we''re going to beat the traffic.

RPS, I love the dentist! And as I said my OB really stresses the importance of going to the dentist during pregnancy and the is relationship between to pre-term labor and periodontal disease. Having a teeth full of nice clean mouth is the best feeling.

Amber, hope you''ve delivered Piper and are enjoying time as a new, bigger family.

We had a first last night, J felt the baby moving.

Awww! I can''t wait for my husband to feel it, he is dying to get a kick. But the moment he puts his hand on my belly, Micah stops moving. Naughty baby!

I had the funniest thing happen yesterday. I had a doctor see me since my midwife app. got canceled last minute, and she was awesome. She''s very tiny, VERY english (I was "dahling" the whole time), and very enthusiastic about my ultrasound and test results. She scheduled me for another ultrasound since the last one, we didn''t get a terribly good look at his face or heart, and then she tried to get his heartbeat. He kept rolling away from her every time she would catch it, so when she finally heard it loud, she pushed down with the doppler, and he kicked it! I could see it bounce up. It was so funny! He''s going to be a naughty baby, I can tell lol.

I also got my H1N1

The baby on the inside makes him very nervous, he keeps telling me he''ll feel better when she''s "here" -- I think my having had a missed miscarriage makes him feel this way.

Micah, what a great name!

DH has told me that, too. I think he is a bit wierded out by it, actually - he keeps saying, "I can''t believe there''s a tiny human in THERE." I admit it freaked me out at first too. I kept picturing this little parasite, and even though I was totally in love with the baby, it was a strange feeling.

Thanks about his name! Micah Asher is what we have decided to go with
30.gif

wow MP I am jealous you guys already have a name for your little nugget!! we are still like 'name...whaaa?'... hahahaa. I like the one you chose as well. and i'll be honest...i totally think of my little darling as a parasite. in essence i am a host and he takes from me whatever he needs, that's how the biology works. i also saw a show on that a few years ago that described it that way...our bodies are made to take what it needs from us and give to the baby, esp in the third trimester. so right now when i am eating and drinking a ton of milk for calcium or red meat for iron etc it's because my body is saying 'hey we need more of this down here because your little darling is stealing it all from us' hehee. i figure hey parasites can be cute too!

for the longest time whenever i felt our guy moving, Greg would come over and try to feel and he would not be moving. he would be like 'you're just playing with me! you don't really have a baby in there!'...for the guys I think it's sooo like 3rd party and 'removed' from their daily lives whereas with us it's every second of every day we are living it. Now that he is moving a lot more Greg feels him more consistently but there are still times when he will be drumming on my belly (and I mean drumming, he might as well have a drumstick in there), and then Greg comes over and boom he stops. It's hilarious!

kimi... i am so bad i haven't gone to the dentist since before pregnancy. i hate it anyway and i figure i will just put it off until after the kid is born. boo on me.

steph...i am still wearing my rings, i take them on and off daily and i wonder if one day they will just not want to go on! i am hoping to wear them for another 3-4 weeks but we'll see. some days they are a little tighter and others they are still loose so i guess that means bloating is not TOO bad.

RPS lol re : the bruise tree. we are hoping to get ours this wkd and we have to go to the townhouse to get our xmas stuff out of underneath the house. the tenants we rent to are nice enough to let us store it there (i have soo much), i am just going to be bringing about 1/2 of what i have because i don't feel like taking it all down at 9 months pregnant in january! but get just enough to make it festive in our new place. i am excited to have our last holiday by ourselves...next year it will be entirely different!

i also ordered a tree decal on etsy for the nursery, and it came this week, i can't wait to put it up this wkd and hang the wall prints. the room should be done in another week or two thankfully. then i can relax.

MP - I love your U/S pics! He''s so cute, and I love the money shot. Great name, too. As for your DH feeling the baby, it was the same for me for a while, but now s/he goes crazy everytime DH puts his hands on my belly.

Amber - I hope you and PJ are doing well!

Kim - I''m glad to here everything is good for you too, and yay on baby movement.

I had my 35 weeks appointment this morning and everything is good as per usual and the baby''s head is down. I''m up to 29 pounds!
6.gif
I hate internals though, they make me feel crampy. My doctor wasn''t too happy with me getting a root canal tomorrow, but there''s no direct danger to the baby and she agrees that it''ll be simpler to have it done now than when the baby is here. DH installed the carseat yesterday... It''s so weird to see it there! The house we made an offer on is a no-go though, hopefully we''ll be able to seal a deal before baby is here.

Happy Thanksgiving Mommies-to-be!

Enjoy everyone passing food over so that you "feed the baby" and don''t worry, holiday pounds don''t count towards overall baby weight gain. It''s in the handbook

Lol, it''s not turkey day up here in Canadia (Thankgiving here is in mid-October).

I''m only getting a local injection for the procedure and the only pain meds I''m allowed to take after the fact is Tylenol.
