MP - I love your U/S pics! He''s so cute, and I love the money shot. Great name, too. As for your DH feeling the baby, it was the same for me for a while, but now s/he goes crazy everytime DH puts his hands on my belly.

I had my 35 weeks appointment this morning and everything is good as per usual and the baby''s head is down. I''m up to 29 pounds!
6.gif
I hate internals though, they make me feel crampy. My doctor wasn''t too happy with me getting a root canal tomorrow, but there''s no direct danger to the baby and she agrees that it''ll be simpler to have it done now than when the baby is here. DH installed the carseat yesterday... It''s so weird to see it there! The house we made an offer on is a no-go though, hopefully we''ll be able to seal a deal before baby is here.

Ack, you have a root canal on turkey day? Bummer! I hope it goes smoothly. What did they say about you getting meds for the pain after?
Lol, it''s not turkey day up here in Canadia (Thankgiving here is in mid-October).
2.gif
I''m only getting a local injection for the procedure and the only pain meds I''m allowed to take after the fact is Tylenol.

Ooohh duh lol. And here I was being all indignant for you
3.gif

Anchor - No idea how painful it''ll be after, but tylenol #3 or percocets won''t cause any harm to the baby, especially since you''re not likely to deliver while you might need to take something stronger. So if tylenol doesn''t cut it, don''t be afraid to get something stronger. It''s not like you''d be taking them for more than a few days tops. Just no advil!

anchor sorry to hear about the root canal, i have had one and it was not my fave thing, bah. it''s such a PITA too right around the holidays with them putting the little temp cap thing on and then you have to go back in..ugh. i hope it''s fairly painless and fast for you.

so my friend came over and did our belly photo shoot...it was hilarious and a lot of fun. the best part was when i was laying on the bed and she was doing profile belly shots and i looked down and could see the kid was all on the right side because my belly was all towards the right...so i told her to look and take a photo and as i was laughing the kid started moving over back to the left and she got the funniest shot of this big volcano bump in the middle of my belly. we could not stop laughing (in a horrified way) because the picture was just so freaky! i will def post that so you ladies can see... we laughed for like 5 min straight and poor portia was beside herself trying to get on the bed to see what was happening. greg had gone to get us lunch so he missed it but when he came back we showed him the photo and it was like
23.gif
.

anyway, quite eventful. i think she got some great shots, i am really excited to see some of them. i am also making our ''mini pre-thanksgiving dinner'' tonite which we have done the last 4 years for the two of us...it ensures we get leftovers! too bad my stomach space is tiny so i can hardly fit anything in at one meal, BOO!

Blen, that's so awesome that George was born at home. I honestly cannot say enough good things about homebirth. The pain was different for me and I don't know that I can explain it. With #4, I went into labor in the evening, around 7, and we went off to the hospital with the kids in tow (small county hospital, this was fairly standard). My DH (at the time, now ex) ended up going back and forth between me and the kids in the waiting room, so I had a hard time dealing with the pain. My two prior births were med free hospital births, but for #4, I had an epidural. I wasn't progressing, I was tired, I wasn't dealing with the pain -- it seemed like a logical choice. Our daughter was born an hour later, so it really worked to relax me!
9.gif

With Will, I think knowing that pain relief was simply not an option kept me from dwelling on it. I dealt with the pain any way I had to because I had no choice. And I never perceived the contractions as being as painful as when I was having my daughter, either. Weird.

Mara, sounds like we have to keep our fingers crossed that your little one comes right on time!

Sha, Mara's right. Dilation means nothing as far as when someone will go into labor. I've known women that were closed up tight at a doctor's appointment with the doctor saying they wouldn't go any time soon...and they went into labor very soon after. I walked around dilated to 4 cm for 2 weeks without a contraction in sight. This is why I don't bother with internals at the end.
1.gif
Aren't our bodies amazing things?
Yikes! There goes my false sense of security.
9.gif
I guess I better get moving on packing my hospital bag then! Thankfully, I picked up the other things I needed for it today.

By the way, rockpaperscissors, did you say earlier you were pregnant with #6?? Awesome! You're a veteran at this!
1.gif

Mara - Glad the shoot went well. I'm looking forward to seeing that photo!

I wonder how Amber's doing?

Blen, thank you for letting me stalk your labor progress! I swear, I never get tired of hearing about other women''s experiences. I hope you have a great trip. BTW, that pic of George always makes me smile. I think there''s nothing as great as when you start seeing your child''s sense of humor emerging.

Kimberly, lol at loving the dentist because it''s a feeling I think I will never have. I was traumatized years ago by a horrible dentist, but last year started going to the woman my kids see. She''s been so wonderful -- at the beginning she really babied me and now I''m at least comfortable going and don''t have panic attacks. That, for me, is a huge change!

MP, Micah Asher is a really cool name. It''s hilarious to me how babies act in the womb. Mine starts going nuts when SO talks to my belly, and he kicks like mad when my toddler puts his head on me. Sibling rivalry already.

Mara, you''re right on about babies being parasites, even if they are cute! It''s amazing to me how Mother Nature makes sure that the next generation will survive -- even at great cost to the mother. I thought it was interesting when I read that even if a mom is malnourished, she will continue to make nutritionally complete breastmilk to provide for her baby.

BTW, I dodged the bullet on the bruise tree. There were no purple balls at Walmart (where I get the non-breakable ones) so we went with hot pink. Hot pink, black and silver on a white tree isn''t as bothersome to me.

I can understand not wanting to take everything down around your due date. I think we''ll probably leave the tree up until after the baby is born. I''m one of those that absolutely loves holiday decorations so I will keep them up far longer than normal people. Last year, we kept the wreath on the front door until I think March because we had some birds build a nest and lay eggs. I couldn''t bear to take it down until the babies fledged! I''m sure our neighbors wondered about us, but we all loved watching the baby birds.

I can''t wait to see the pics from the photo shoot either! I bet the one with your belly all weird was hilarious!

Sha, yeah, this is #6. Realistically, the only thing I have learned is that no pregnancy/birth is the same so you can''t count on anything. The ONLY advantage I think I have is that I''m not afraid of labor and I''ve learned that if wussy old me can do it, every woman can. I get really angry when I hear about a doctor that makes a woman question her abilities or makes her feel like she''s somehow broken.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! And Amber, I hope you are snuggling your little one and feeling great!

Mara, I can''t wait to see that! It sounds hilarious!

I hope everyone has a very happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks drk!! I have some Tylenol Extra Strength (500 mg), can I follow the normal posology (1-2 caplets every 4 hours, 8 caplets max. in 24 hours) or is that too much?

Anchor - usually when we order ES tylenol at work, it''s for 2 tabs every 6 hours around the clock. I think by the time you get to hour 4, the effects are starting to wear off. Plain tylenol (325mg per pill) is usually ordered 2 tabs every 4 hours round the clock. For a normal person, the max is 4000mg a day, or 8 tabs - so extra-strength 1-2 tabs every 4-6 hours, max 8 tabs a day should be fine. The concern with tylenol is being on the max dose over an extended period of time, because it''s hard on the liver.

The small amount of narcotic in tylenol #3 or percocet really shouldn''t do anything to baby. People are on narcotics throughout pregnancy for chronic pain - the problem with the narcotics is that they become tolerant and physically dependent to them, so if you''ve been on them for months, you''d have to watch the baby for signs of withdrawal after birth. If you''re only on them for a few days, no problem. And the amount of narcotic in those tablets would likely not make the baby more drowsy or anything after birth if you were to deliver while taking them. You could just stop taking the pills while in labour, and if your labour lasted more than 6 hours, the effects would be pretty much worn off by the time kiddo arrives.

Well, I thought I would catch up on everything I missed before I posted again. Silly me, that took a loooong time.

The trip was good, but I admit sometimes I wondered what I am getting myself into with this kid.
3.gif
I was travelling with family, and my sister has three kids - 6, 3 and 8 months. My Dad and I were the ones to help out with the kids, while my BIL''s parents just did their own thing every day and only saw us at dinner. And at times I really wished I was them because it definitely is not the type of relaxing holiday I am used to! I can''t complain too much, at least I had no cooking or cleaning to do for a week.

Congrats to November and Sunkist
36.gif

Also can''t wait to hear from Amber, yay for new babies!

And Mandarine, love your pics. I agree, the one of you reading is beautiful.

Hope everyone is doing well, and Happy Thanksgiving to all the Americans. Is it bad I would love to have Turkey dinner a second time this year?
31.gif

I hope all of you in America have a wonderful Thanksgiving. We''re going out to a very early dinner, then driving to my parents where we''ll celebrate tomorrow, back home on Sunday.

Gah, Mandy, those are so great! Your photographer was really good - he/she really captured your pregnant glow. i love that one with the shoes, and the one of you reading under the tree!

so i was realizing this morning that there are a fair amt of us due around the same time...steph, qt, rps, myself and ginger...i think we are all within 1 week of each other? or around there. anyway... random Q but for you ladies around the same time as me (30w+4)... are you starting to feel like actual LIMBS moving around in your belly and almost feeling like they are scraping along the insides of the uterine walls??? it''s sooo freaky... it feels like an arm or something gliding along the skin of the inside of the body. of course i kind of like it because i like most of his movements, but wow...! it just blows my mind thinking that could be an arm or a leg or something.
3.gif

happy thanksgiving all!!! hope you are all out eating. i am making cinnamon rolls so they are rising right now. we don''t go to my family''s house til later this afternoon for dinner.

Mandy--
Wow, great maternity pictures.
Your photographer really captured your pregnancy glow well.
I love all the pictures, especially the one of you reading under the tree -- so nostalgic feeling.
I hope you are framing that pic.

And I have to say that you look fab.
I'll say again, I can't believe that is a twin belly.
I'd say that it's smaller than most preggos w/ singleton.

Hope you and the boys are doing well.

Mara--
I hope your little guy will within a week before your EDD.
Were you planning on going back on a fix date after your baby is born?
Sounds like you had a blast w/ the photo shoot.
Can''t wait to see the pictures.

Hehe, I love those fetal movements.
It''s fun knowing what you baby is doing since you can feel if he''s turning or stretching.
Toward the end, you should even feel when he''s turning his head :P

Agree w/ the others about the no real indicator on how soon you''ll go.
I was finger tip dilated but long when I had my internal at 39 wk.
Dr thought that we''d have to talk induction 1.5 weeks later, but DD came out 3 days later.

Anchor--
Ouch on the root canal.
Hope it goes smoothly and relatively painless for you.

And I''m surprised how early some of your dr are doing the internal.
I didn''t get my internal until my 39th week.
That was my first and last, thank goodness because those are pretty uncomfortable.

MP-
Congrats on team Blue.
Man, so many boys again for next year ^.^

I hope everyone in the US has a good Thanksgiving!

Mara - Sounds like you had fun with the photoshoot! It was at about 30-31 weeks that I started feeling entire limbs moving around and it is a very freaky feeling. I complain now, but I''m sure I''m going to miss it when baby is out...
20.gif

Mandy - Your pictures are fabulous!
30.gif

lili - My doc started doing internals at my 31 week appointment.

So my root canal went well, 2 hours and it''s all done, no need to go back. The tooth was dead, but the infection was very mild; I''m glad we caught it early. The procedure was painless except for the injection, and since the feelings have come back it''s very manageable. I took two tylenols before going to bed last night and this morning I''m fine. Thanks everyone for the kind words; drk, it''s like having a doctor/pharmacist is the house!
2.gif
Thanks.

Amazing photos Mandarine!

Edited: OOps...I posted in the wrong thread! ;) so deleting that :)

***

I did want to stop by here and thank you guys for the nice comments!!!. The picture on the tree is one of my faves too. I wasn't reading a book though, I was reading the journal I kept during pregnancy for the boys :))

Thank you all again...and hope you had a great Thanksgiving!!!

Mandarine, your photos are beautiful! Like the others, I have a hard time believing you had two babies in there! I''ve never had twins, but I think you''re right that having a schedule is important. With one baby you can be pretty flexible about a schedule, but with twice the "work," I could see how things would get unmanageable quickly. You are so fortunate to have family to help and I''ll bet they love it.

Anchor, I''m glad the root canal went well. I''m sure it''s a huge relief to have it over and done with so you don''t have to worry about it anymore.

Lili, my midwife doesn''t do routine internals, which I like. She did one the last time and that was when I was in serious labor. No matter how many times I tell someone else that internals tell you nothing about when you''ll go into labor, in the past when I was checked by an OB, I would get my hopes up! My biggest reason, though, for not wanting them is the risk of introducing an infection.

Mara, yes, I feel various limbs -- feet are especially easy to identify. I''ve always thought that pregnancy, while amazing, is also pretty weird. I mean, there is a HUMAN in there! LOL!

I think my favorite thing about this part of pregnancy is that the baby is so reactive -- if I push him one way, he will kick me in return. Plus, while other people can rub my belly and talk to the baby, for right now, he''s all mine. My experiences with his moving, kicking, turning are mine alone and I don''t have to share. It''s really cool to always have company, no matter where I go.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We went to SO''s sister''s house as we always do and had a wonderful time. For whatever reason, they have always treated me like I''m one of the family, and I never felt like that with my ex-ILs. SO''s nieces are 17 and 14 and terrific girls that I couldn''t love anymore if they were my own, and they and my kids act like "real" cousins, even though my older kids are not biologically related to them. Blended families can be difficult to manage, but somehow I got very lucky with SO''s family.

I know pregnancy can be a pain...but it''s worth it when you see that little face looking at you....

Awww! What a face!

oh anchor i was thinking of a crown. i had one crown and then i had to have a root canal AFTER...it was such a pain, i think normally they do it the other way around but the dentist was hoping i wouldn't have to have the RC. it was thankgsiving like 4 years ago maybe and it seemed like the hassle lasted FOREVER. glad that the RC was not too bad...!!

yeah the inside 'scraping of the limbs' as i like to call it is kinda funky but really cool too. like you said RPS...last nite i was telling greg, it's one thing to KNOW there is a baby growing in there but when you can actually feel limbs and/or feet or heels or elbows pressing, it is really WEIRD! like OMG there IS a baby in there!! it's easy to think of them as just nebulous attachments when they are just moving the belly in general, but the limbs make it weirdly more real. i really like it though, it makes me laugh to see and feel the movements. esp since he is SUPER active in general. i don't even bother with the kick count card because he is almost always doing something. at night sometimes when i get up to pee and come back to bed he decides it's marathon 'lets try to escape' time and for about 15 min my belly is just skyrocketing all over. and when i first wake up and if i talk to portia or greg while laying in bed he starts moving. he's very voice reactive in mornings.

today is our 3d ultrasound. my grandma, mom and sis are coming with us. my grandma is SO excited...it's really cute to see. she has had a hard year so i am thanksful she gets to be part of this. we get all these hard copy photos and a cd as part of our package so i am glad to be able to send some actual photos of the kid to greg's family. so far most of them still have the '12 week' alien shot on their fridge. hehe.

and unfortunately for me, being off work while pregnant is not as fun as it is when not pregnant. if i was off 5 days in a row non preggo style, i'd be going to the gym daily, taking long walks with portia, greg and i would be taking long drive at night for dinner and just in general enjoying our time. but now that i am pregnant i am such a SLUG and i am almost anti social. i don't want to go out as much, don't feel like dressing up, don't feel like being ogled by the general public, don't want to sit in the car for an hour. i don't know if it's just me or if this is normal at this stage, but the further along i get the more i just want to become an appendage to the house. i am baking and cooking and watching movies, but not a whole lot else. i am thinking of suggesting we HAVE to do something fun tonite..maybe drive to SF and walk around union square with the tourists. hahaa.

but other than sleeping in later the mornings and having breakfast with greg this whole time off thing is kinda boring....at least with work i am going somewhere and being productive and making money. it's making me rethink taking off the 2 weeks before baby comes. maybe i will just take 1, even if i would get paid 100%, if i am bored at home just waiting around, i might go even MORE mental.

on a baby note i put up the new mobile yesterday and hung some pics in the baby's room. our tree decal came this week so i'd like to put it up this wkd but it's a little intimidating since it's huge. does anyone have experience with that stuff?

hope everyone had a great thanksgiving!! ours with the family was nice and uneventful, but of course i could only eat like a tiny plate. boooooo on limited stomach space during a holiday!

What, no belly pics yet? I''ll start us off then, with my 35w2d 42" belly...
