Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Stephanie, you look great. And so you know you're not alone every day, literally, I hear "you don't look pregnant." I find it amusing, but I know it was starting to get to you. You look fantastic. Glad the dog is doing well. I'm glad someone else could make use of the ON code.

Charger, hooray for almost exiting the first trimester!

Jcrow, hope you like at least one of the three recommended!

I've caught a cold, don't feel terrible but definitely not myself. We had friends coming for lunch tomorrow and I had to cancel (they have a 4 month old, not fair to pass it along to them/him).

thanks for the peds feedback. i guess it would help if i knew how i felt about vaccinations etc. in order to see if their views mesh with mine.

steph72276 - no, unfortunately we moved recently and so we''re in a town away from friends and family. and hubs works with mostly guys...

KimberlyH - i hope so too. i know one of the recs are in the same office building that my obgyn is in. there''s two signs + doors for that peds office. one sign says "well kids" and the other "ill kids". i thought that was brilliant! the sick + well kids don''t interact since they sit in different waiting rooms.

My pedi when I was growing up had this as well. I think my mom really liked it. There were even two separate doors into the exam rooms, so I would have to double check with my mom, but I think they even separated the exam rooms for sick/well kids.

haha, maybe it''s the norm out there. i don''t really know!

i haven''t been to a peds office in many many many many years.

Steph, you look great! Glad to hear that the tumor is benign. I don't have a dog, but do have a cat and she is definitely part of the family.

The big ultrasound is next Wednesday, so we can find out the sex then (as long as the bub cooperates). We are still going back and forth as to whether we actually want to know or not. I have a feeling we will give in though.

I'm lucky that I already have a doctor lined up, she is an old friend of my FI's sister. Since it's not always easy here to get one, I feel quite relieved it's sorted.

Steph, it makes me sad already to think of the changes in store for my pup when the baby comes. Oh, he has no idea what''s about to happen to him! I''ll obviously love him just the same but we certainly won''t have the kind of time we do now. Our boy gets AT LEAST 1.5 hours of exercise every day. He''s a big and will be almost 3 by then so maybe he''ll appreciate lounging around with us a little more then.

PrettyBlues, DH definitely wants to find out the sex of the baby and I could take or leave it. It doesn''t matter to me and I prefer gender neutral stuff anyway. I''m pretty sure we''ll go for it if given the opportunity though.

Question - as most of you know, I''m about 6 weeks pregnant. Well, I am having some belly issues. No morning sickness or anything (thank goodness - although I realize it can still come) BUT I''m super constipated! I''ve barely gone in like a week and I''m so uncomfortable. Most of my pants are way tight because of it. My gut is seriously embarrassing and I didn''t plan on losing my flat belly this soon! Any remedies that won''t mean I''m trapped in the house for two days?

Steph, your belly is so cute!

Here is mine - 24 weeks. I think I look twice as PG as I am!

Glad you find an OB you liked.
Yay for almost being in 2 nd trimester and the GC good for two prenatal massages. Score.
Hope your indigestion goes away soon.

Steph
Glad your doggie is ok. Hope the tumor goes away on its own.
You look awesome.
I wondered that sometimes, if the baby isn’t hiccupping or if I am just not feeling them. I’ve felt hiccups before with M, just very rarely, so I just assume the baby isn’t doing it.

KimberlyH
Take care of yourself. Feel better soon.

Jcrow
It’s nice to have separate rooms for well and sick kids. Our pedi doesn’t have that, but his office is not very crowded.
Even though you don’t know how you feel about vaccines yet, you should probably ask them how they feel about delayed vaccination schedules. Some pedi doesn’t like it at all, and are not flexible with their patients. I would at least pick one that is open to alternative schedules in case you want to go that route.

PrettyBlues
Hehe. It’s hard to say no when the tech asks if you want to know the gender. Well at least, it is for me.

MP
You look adorable. Super cute belly.

Ok it’s going to be pictures overload. I have side view, front view and my view for belly pics today. Sorry it’s so dark in the restroom today. I am 33w1d.

drink lots of water, eat lots of fiber, and try colace.

pupp...get used to the bloating i have to say. i lost my stomach immediately and felt like a blob. my pants didn't even fit me at 8 weeks. for constipation, i have found that prune juice works really well. no it's not that tasty but i just pour a small glass (very small!) and drink without tasting it. usually my stomach is a little gurgly for 1/2 a day but it is effective. if you pair it with fiber OR coffee, even more effective i have found hahaa. but yeah my boss thought i was like 5 months preggo when i was only 3! iwas like thanks. then my bloating and gas went away in beginning of first tri and i felt much better but i was nauseated so no time to appreciate it hahaa. oh and be careful with the fiber during pregnancy because i used to eat a lot and drink a lot of water but water was making me nauseated so i wasn't drinking as much and then things just feel worse. now i have cut back on fiber a lot because everything is so squished and i figure making my body work harder on digestion isn't the way to go.

steph girl you look great. trust me my belly is basically twice your size. it's so crazy the differences in people's bodies!!
mp you look so cute, i like your top!
qt i love your outfit...you girls in your small jeans! and from the front it hardly looks like you've got a bump. greg says to me from the back i look like i am not even preggo. i am like what about the SIDE? hahah.

i have to head up to SF for a QBR in a few, but i will try to snap an iphone photo and upload it at some point. you guys have to see MY 33 week belly, SO different. hahaha.

not much else to report other than the nugget is quieter the last 24 hours, still awake in there it seems but a lot more mellow. maybe he's growing again, YIKES!! happy friday all.

My view. You can really see my belly button here. LOL.

Pupp- My first 12-14 weeks, all I drank was water, about 4 bottles a day, and I was very regular. Well, water and taking my prenantals. I also kept lots of fruit around. I didn't really get "cravings" until about 17 weeks, but even back then it was much easier to reach for healthier options, so try and snack on grapes and things like that.

The lovely comment that I received this morning. This girl has absolutely no personal skills at all, and is just very awkward in general.

Anyway, this is how my morning started...

Her: "Have you bought maternity clothes yet?"
Me: "No, not yet."
Her: "Well, when my sister was as far along as you are, she was already in maternity clothes. It is probably because she was only a size 4 though."
Me:

Me: "I am regularly a size 4 as well. It's crazy how people's bodies can be different."

Thanks to her, I will not be showign a BPF pic today. I went to the bathroom to take a picture, and the shirt I am wearing is very loose, so instead of seeing my mini-baby-belly, the shirt just makes me look big... everywehre. I'll take a picture later tonight and post it before the day is over.

ginger~I sleep on my back the majority of the time. Funny thing is, I am a side sleeper when not preggo!

Swimmer~Congrats on team blue! So glad telling your students went well. I bet they are thrilled for you! All my volleyball players fight to babysit when I need one (rarely because I have IL''s and my parents close). So cute though!

Steph~So glad the tumor is benign! So cute and tiny you are!!

Kimberly~Sorry you''re not feeling well!

Monkey~You look great!

QT~Love all the pics! You look adorable. I love your belly button. Mine is totally not a pop out belly button...just flattens out. Did with both pregnancies.

I love all the belly pics. So funny how every body carried pregnancy different. My belly is totally a square belly and my belly button does not pop. I''ve had two co-workers comment on my belly today....one who told me I''m HUGE and was just shocked I wasn''t due until February and then the other who said she was as big as me when she was 3 months preggo and said I''m adorable!
16.gif
Weird. The first comment was from a male and he also told me that I probably wouldn''t look so big if I didn''t wear such "form fitting clothes."
20.gif
Ah, the joys of pregnancy.

Anyway, here''s my contribution to BPF. 30w5d. I have an appt this afternoon and start my appts every 2 weeks after this. Crazy!!

burkbelly30.jpg

meresal~Do NOT listen to stupid people like your co-worker! Everyone has an opinion and most are just ridiculous...read my story above about my 2 co-workers today. Prime example. You are absolutely tiny and adorable and I cannot wait to see your belly pic!!

On another note, I need to quit wearing sweaters for my belly pics...makes me look bigger than I am.

don''t you hate crappy comments?!

recently a girl i just met for the first time asked me "so, have you gained a lot of weight?" i was like no, not really. she said "oh... well your husband said you were really tiny."

um. yeh. i don''t think she realized how that could come off as not making me feel so hot.

Burk, thanks for the words of wisdom. Sorry to hear about the one co-worker. What's funny, is that from what I can see, the more baggy that the clothes I wear are, the bigger I look. I prefer wearing form fitting clothes.

Jcrow- My jaw just hit my desk!!!
29.gif
I don't think I could have bit my lip after that one...

Mer,
People can be soooo dumb, don''t give it a second thought!!!

I agree that baggy clothes tend to make me look bigger too... I told that guy that I couldn''t find a tent big enough!

I found right around 20 weeks hard because I was starting to have a belly, but not enough of a belly for people to actually think I was pregnant if they didn''t already know....more to make them wonder if I just ate too many cupcakes!

Oh, all these “lovely” comments today.

Mer
Ditto Burk. DO NOT listen to your coworker.
Can’t wait to see your belly pic, showing your cute little bump.

Burk
You are adorable, and small for almost 31 weeks.
And I am sure a tent would make you look so much slimmer.
20.gif

Jcrow
How tiny does that girl expect a pregnant woman to be. And from what I see on the Not Rational thread, you are still very tiny.

All the “are you having twins?” or “are you due soon?” comments I get are from male coworkers. My female coworkers are pretty good at not making “lovely” comments.
I wear all form-fitting clothes b/c it makes me feel pregnant and not fat, even though there’s no mistaking that I am pregnant regardless of what I wear.

LOL @ the cupcakes - I feel like I still look like that, because sometimes (oddly, not all the time) I still have a dip at my bellybutton. I feel like it just makes me look fat, because unless I am resting my hands on my belly, people that don''t already know stare at my belly with a little bit of confusion. "Is she pregnant? Not pregnant?"

Gah, Meresal, I would have told her where to stick it! I have yet to gain a single pound but my belly is totally out there - you are petite to start with and no one carries the same. Sometimes people are just so rude.

TGIF!!

ChargerGrrl, oddly enough, I haven''t seen The Business of Being Born. I don''t know why -- I guess probably because I was in the homebirth camp before it came out?

Steph, I feel you on the snoring. In all my prior pregnancies, I would SNORT. I think I would stop breathing and then draw in a deep breath, which is how I snorted. It was hilarious because I would wake myself up. This time, I tend to sigh just as I''m dropping off and it rewakes me just a little bit. Weird.

Puppmom, I hate to say it but the bloating and constipation just seems to be a part of early pregnancy. I looked 4 months pregnant very early on when I knew I could not be showing. I drank a lot of water and ate stuff with fiber, like Raisin Bran. Now at the end, I''m feeling the same way so the other night I got some Activia with Fiber and it was tasty and *effective.*

All the bellies look cute!! No pic for me today, but I look exactly the same.

I had my 33 week checkup with my mw today. Everything is perfect so no worries. Baby is measuring right on for 33 weeks, and he''s head down. We were playing around with him to make sure it was his head we were feeling and she had me holding his head in my fingers while she felt around his back and butt. It was really cool, but really odd that this was my son''s HEAD that I was feeling.

We filled out the birth certificate paperwork today, and decided that I would use one of her horse trough birth tubs instead of the inflatable. I''m glad those things have been taken care of. I can''t believe that in 4 weeks, I''m cleared for homebirth!!

One thing that was scary -- the young woman that was in before me came out with her friend and a walker. My MW made some comment about being extra careful on the steps.

The woman is a schoolteacher, pregnant with her first child, and got Guillain-Barre after receiving her standard flu shot in September. A person is much more likely to develop this during the flu, but it can happen after the shot too -- but it''s still VERY RARE. I don''t want to freak anyone out about it. Anyway, it took 3 weeks to diagnose this woman and she ended up in ICU for a while. She''s been improving, but is now addicted to painkillers (and still in massive pain so she can''t do without), so her baby will have to go through detox when it''s born. The baby has a 90% chance of being FINE, but this poor woman is so beat down. I feel so awful for her because this should be an amazing time in her life and through bad luck, it''s all changed.

My mw also told me about a twin birth that she assisted with the other day. The mom was upset because she started having some bleeding at 35 weeks due to a partial abruption, so the mw and her OB backup decided a c-section had to be done. The mom understood this was for the health of her babies, but she hated the idea of everyone else getting to see and touch her babies before her.

As the OB pulled the babies out, he didn''t hand them to the nurses that were waiting -- he passed each one under the screen to snuggle next to the mom for a few moments. I thought this was so wonderful and probably went a long way to making the mom feel better about having a c-section!

The same OB took the woman with Guillain Barre to HIS house so that she could be a part of the get together with his grandkids. Her husband has H1N1 so she can''t be around him right now, which is really hard for her. The OB also had her stay at his house for a few days and he and his wife doted on her.

Like I said before, I would not hesitate to use this OB if I had to switch.

Regarding Guillaume-Barre syndrome: Rockpaperscissors, that''s so sad about that lady you saw at your dr''s office. I hope that she makes a full recovery.

My mom had G-B Syndrome about 15 years ago (she was around age 48). She''s never had a flu shot in her life, and the doctors weren''t totally sure what caused it, but they told her that most likely it stemmed from some type of viral infection. She made a 100% full recovery within a few weeks. Just wanted to put that out there so people wouldn''t be scared off from getting their flu shots - the disease frequently comes on with no known cause, and no link to flu shots.

ok i''m a loser and didn''t take a picture today, i actually just got home from SF...it''s gross and rainy outside. i am excited for our bf class tonite, but also sad i have to go back out in the cold hahaha.

jeez ladies... these people who say these things to you are horrible!! i have been lucky that people seem really nice...esp at work. the girls especially always tell me how cute i look, and seriously the last thing i feel is CUTE AND hello i know i am not CUTE, i don''t even wear makeup anymore, but it''s so nice of them to say that. and i tell them so, liars! haha. i think a lot of them are moms so that is why they are flattering with comments. and i haven''t had one person say anything nasty about my size or weight gain, even men. knock on wood. and Jcrow you are tiny girl. and meresal, hello, you are smaller than a size 4. i used to be a 6-8 and you are way tinier than me. people are just rude, brush it off girls. everyone here looks fabulous...and you are pregnant and carrying life inside you.

i also agree re: tent things making me feel bigger. i need to wear fitted stuff so that it doesn''t make my arms and legs look bigger. i look best when i am wearing more fitted items. and sweaters just make me feel HOT...i am always so hot, i just wear layers nowadays so i can peel them off!

You are so right! I didn''t post about this to scare anyone off getting flu shots because the odds of getting GBS from the flu or the shot are SO small. I''m glad that your mom made a full recovery, but I''ll bet it was scary when she was dealing with it. It''s interesting to me that her docs weren''t sure what caused it -- such an awful illness that can just pop up like that.

I posted about this woman because mainly I feel so badly for her that she''s going through all of this right now. Perhaps people will keep this woman in their thoughts and their fingers crossed that she gets better quickly and the baby is fine.

It''s also a good lesson in really counting your blessings if you are healthy and happy.
