Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Anchor! Welcome to the world Jacob!

Drk, how are you guys doing? Thinking of you!

Mela, awesome photo!

Cello, pulling for you guys. You have surely had a journey.

Mere, Judging by NYC (central park west) sidewalks, the uppababy seems to have replaced the bugaboo as far as the society stroller. So you could tell your MIL that she is so "last season" on this
28.gif
I'm still reeling from her comments to you about your bebe hopefully turning into a girl. At least I'm remembering it as you posting that? Your mil sounds like a real trip.

I'm interested in the bumbleride indy, any thoughts? Still spendy, but secondhand all of these are not that bad. I peruse craigslist sometimes and bugaboos seem to be plentiful and all around 300, in a resale shop near me they are under 200. I would not buy a secondhand crib or anything, but a barely used stroller? heck yeah. I want a three wheeled small footprint stroller for navigating cobblestone sidewalks in our hood and yet going into the grocery. I have no interest in jogging. Ever. Had an interesting conversation with my mw about circumcision. And at 22wks 5days I've put on 10lbs, all of it in the last week I swear. Yoga is getting hard! If anyone takes prenatal yoga, is it really diff from regular? I stopped doing headstands and twisty stuff, but don't want to go to a class to just breathe.

I''m a total lurker on this thread learning from all your wisdom

My DH and I are TTC right now, so hopefully I''ll be over here soon

Meresal I just wanted to say my mom was a DD and went up to an H!!!! when she was pregnant and BFing. But, she didn''t have any problems. She said it was a little uncomfortable for the first 4 weeks but then it was fine. She did use lanolin throughout to keep from cracking.

I''m a DD too, so YIKES I''m hoping when I get KTFU I don''t ballon up to an H.

Holy cow, does this thread move!!!

Anchor~ What a handsome little man you have!! Congrats again!!

About the boob thing. I fully intended to breastfeed with JT but it didn''t work out. I started at a 38 G before pregnancy, quickly was popping out of a 38 H and after becoming fully engorged, I could barely fasten the breast feeding cups on a 38 I. Hard as rocks, too!! I was completely miserable for about 3 days and then it eased up a bit for the following week or so before I was comfortable. My milk would start spurting randomly and the doc suggested I manually express some in the shower. I tell you, I expressed half a gallon and was still huge! I just let nature take its course then.

I have an appt tomorrow. The first time to hear the HB since the US a few weeks ago. Today I did a lot of heavy cleaning for my grandma and had lots of cramping. I wasn''t worried about it because I had the same thing when pregnant before, but this time, they didn''t let up after I was done. My uterus was tight for a good 3 hours after. Hopefully tomorrow will bring me some good news to put these nerves to rest.

And, oh my gosh, will this headache EVER go away?!?! I don''t remember having days-long headaches before. They get worse at night. I can''t figure out what''s causing them.

Anchor, Jacob is so beautiful!!!

Anchor, Jacob is so precious! I had been keeping an eye on the thread and was waiting for your birth story! Thank you for finally blessing us with pictures, he is adorable

Steph I''m so glad that the latest US looked great! So glad that the kiddo is measuring well and put on some weight. He will be here in no time!

Mela That picture is hilarious... it certainly speaks its requisite 1,000 words! Your humor just reminds me of what a great bunch of ladies we have here!

Lovelylulu thanks for checking in on me

I am doing well, just trying to keep my sanity until my amnio next week when we find out if this little guy is Rh+ or Rh-. Definitely hoping for the latter since these treatments are wearing me out!

Attached is a picture of me Saturday night... clearly not amused that both of my hands are shot from so many pokes, one vein got blown out, and into the inner wrist my IV went. Ouch! I''m definitely keeping up with this thread and thinking of you ladies.

*Lindsey* - keeping my fingers crossed for you that the amino has the right outcome

Mere: Big Boobs---my milk never came in...I never got engorged, I could barely pump out 1 oz total over a few days--and Evan was getting nothing at all! I made the comment that I thought for sure that my big boobs would be good for something---but nope.

Anchor: He''s gorgeous!

Lindsay: Hoping everything is okay.

Mela: That picture is hilarious.

Steph: Glad everything was okay with the u/s.

Swimmer - no more spotting today and a moving baby, so I''m feeling better. Will see what the doc says tomorrow.

Lindsey - ouch! Those inner wrist ones are not fun. I hope baby''s Rh neg so you can quit the treatments. If not, would they consider giving you a PICC line if you''re that hard to get IVs in? How often do you have to get treatments if the baby''s Rh pos? I guess the downside to the PICC is the risk of infection or blood clot, and you''re more prone to clots while pregnant. Might be worth discussing though!

Anchor - what a cutie!

Guess I should head to bed - only got about 5h two nights ago and only 6h last night. I hate not being able to breathe through my nose with a cold, and my throat gets so dry. And I kept waking up shortly after 5am and not being able to get back to sleep. ugh.

Anchor
Jacob is so adorable, and you look great.

somethingshiny
You need to slow down with the cleaning, Mama.

Lindsey
Ouch!!! Fingers crossed that the little man is Rh -, and everything is good with the amnio next week.

Anchor~He''s precious!!

Lindsey~Yuck! Hope you get good news next week and are able to quit the treatments!

drk~Sorry you''re not feeling well!

Popping over with a few comments

Swimmer We have the Bumbleride Indy Twin stroller and LOVE it. My fellow twin mom loves it so much she has a single and a double. Loves them both. But be careful buying used-make sure it's an 09 if you can because the earlier stroller models were missing some features that I think are pretty important. Just make sure you know what you're getting if you get an earlier model.

Meresal I had 32DD before the kiddos and something totally obscene (I want to say an 36H...) after the babies were born. I breastfed them for 8 months without problems. I wouldn't worry-it's not the size it's the ducts as RPS said.

Lindsey Good luck! Hope the little guy is RH- for you.

Anchor Adorable!!! Congrats again!

Congrats Anchor! He''s beautiful!

Mer-big breasts don''t have much to do with your ability to BF or produce. I have large breasts and had no issues until I got sick. The only challenge was finding the right hold to balance a NB and holding the breast. With larger breasts you almost have to hold them the entire time but it isn''t a big deal.

lindsey ouch!!! hope everything turns out to be fine.

anchor awww, he is so adorable!!

Congrats anchor! Welcome baby Jacob! He''s adorable!

Lindsey, so sorry you have to go though that. ouch! keeping you and baby in my thoughts and hoping you get some great news soon. Keep us posted.

Puffy and Anchor Congratulations to you both!!!!

Lindsey I think of you often and I am hoping you get the right results from your amnio.

About the 3 hours gest diabetes test I got VERY sick from mine. Violently ill. I felt not so great during it, and it really hit me after (at work) and for the rest of the day. Unfortunately, I had the test the day before my birthday, and I had to cancel my big plans
7.gif
It was really bad! I can''t say for certain that it was the test because stomach flu was going around at the same time, but the timing seemed too coincidental. So yes, I think it''s a great plan to have someone else with you and not plan on anything big that day. Hopefully you will not have the experience I did. I didn;t have any problem with the 1 hour test (well, except failing it) and I passed the 3 hour test.

Lindsey, Oh man! You are a trooper. My veins tend to "hop off" needles so I always look a mess when they attempt IVs. I bet your hands will be a nice shade of green! Come on, RH- baby!

Anchor, Jacob is adorable! I love the picture of your DH giving him a smooch. You can tell it''s COLD in your neck of the woods!

Cello, ooops...reading comprehension sometimes is not my forte when pregnant!! I will be keeping my fingers crossed that the medical issues ease up and that you go into labor all by yourself soon. At this point, you deserve a little break, don''t you?
1.gif

FWIW, I completely understand why you want to avoid an epidural. I had meningitis when I was a kid and had 3 spinal taps. Since then, I don''t like anyone messing with my back. I did end up getting an epidural with my #4 because I was exhausted, not making progress and it was late at night. The insertion was not bad at all. I ended up hating it because while the baby was born an hour later, I was pretty freaked out about not being able to get up and move, and my back hurt for quite a while after that. If I got an epidural headache on top of it, I would have been *really* miserable.

Your new robe and gown sound absolutely lovely! Can I say that your DH did a great thing in picking the color? This isn''t the most pleasant thing to point out, but during the post-partum period when you''re bleeding, it stinks to ruin pretty things in light colors. And I whole-heartedly believe that women should have pretty things to wear then because it''s very easy to feel pretty blah.

Fingers crossed for his interview, too!

Mara, I wish I could post a link to a website I have with the info on acupressure points. If you google acupressure for childbirth and pregnancy, you should be able to find a site with diagrams that show you where the points are. You can do some of them yourself, too. There are places that say that these spots are forbidden during pregnancy and it''s because those are the ones that can start contractions.

Puppmom, WOW. Your SIL *must* be really laid back because I would lose it if my mom or MIL pulled that while I was in labor. I honestly do not understand how some people can be so pushy about attending someone else''s birth! Isn''t that one of the most private times? I had a friend that told me that she wanted to be at my homebirth -- she didn''t ask. I told her no, but she kept demanding. I finally told her that if she wasn''t there when the baby was conceived and she wasn''t a medical person, she was not going to be there for the birth.

Meresal, honestly, I don''t think you should go into bf assuming that you''re going to have problems. The number of women that truly can''t breastfeed is quite low. Most situations that you hear about really fall into the "mismanagement" category. For example, with my 2nd, she wasn''t gaining as the pediatrician wanted, so the dr. told me to supplement with formula. Once I started that, my supply fell until it was pretty much gone. I didn''t know that if you replace a feeding with formula, you must pump in order to make up for that feeding or you''re telling your body that you don''t need that milk. I was flat out ignorant, not only about the way breastfeeding works, but also about getting help. I assumed the pediatrician knew what she was talking about, but most only get a few hours of breastfeeding education, so they''re just as ignorant as everyone else.

BTW, I''m using the term ignorant here to mean uneducated, not stupid!

One book that I love to recommend to new moms is "So that''s what they''re for!" It has loads of good info, but it''s in a very fun, friendly format that''s easy to read.

Anchor, LOVE THE PICS! Jacob is so beautiful. I really like the one of him in his swing! You look great, too!

Just de-lurking to say congratulations to Anchor! You look amazing Mama and Jacob is adorable. Such a cutie! And I love his name.

Anchor, great pictures! He''s gorgeous.

Lindsay, I have my fingers crossed baby is rh- and all the medical madness can end!

So I got a call from my OB, I failed the second GD test too (that sounds silly, I didn''t fail, it''s not like I did something wrong and couldn''t pass). She thinks it should be managable without insulin, I''ll need to modify my diet and check my blood sugar. Need to call the diabetes pregnancy clinic this morning and make an appt. I''m not particularly upset about it, obviously I would prefer this not be the case, but I am really good about managng my diet to begin with, so I''ll just need to tweak to follow along with their plan. My biggest concern is how much I''ll need to eat. I haven''t finished a meal in some time and I don''t snack and I''ll need to eat 5-6 meals a day, which sounds overwhelming.

anchor, love the pics and you look great!!

kimi, sorry to hear about not passing the test, boo!! what a PITA. my coworker failed her first 1 hour at like week 13 (due to AMA she had to take it early) and her Dr didn''t even bother testing her for 3 hour then or LATER so the poor thing has been on modified diet for almost her entire pregnancy!!! i would be so depressed if from week 13 i couldn''t eat hardly anything yummy hehe. but her Dr sounds like a stickler anyway. i would have insisted on testing later to see if i had even improved at all.

linds, hoping for RH- test results as well!

rps, i did some googling last nite re: labor and i will have to look into the accupressure. we have tons of those places around here. in another week or so i might be interested in trying!

mere, i agree with the others that say don''t assume you''ll have big issues bf''ing. well i AM assuming that it will go ok but not fabulously and we''ll have some issues because it seems MOST women do to start. but i am hoping my boobs work (i totally always think well jeez they are big enough but as others have said that doesn''t matter!) and that we figure it out well enough to do it for at least 6 months. mine were B''s to start and have gone to DD''s now...some of you poor ladies with H''s. i can''t imagine!! i won''t complain anymore. haha.
