Houston Psers: regarding gtg. I''d like to attend this if you guys have room for one more. I don''t post very much on here, but I''ve kept up with most of your stories. If you have room for one more, how do I get info on your upcoming gtg?

Chinacat - I had no idea you were in Houston too. Are you going to bring your LO?

Cello - so sorry for you went through all of that. My little guy was sunny side up too and they tried to get him to change position by putting a catheter in with saline solution to get him to rotate (my water broke already before they gave me my epi but they didn''t realize it until then). I felt intense back pain after the epi was in place and thought it was the epi that was giving me that pain. It turned out to be back labor pain. I ended up with an emergency c-sect too, so I totally feel you. Hope you get better soon.

Jcrow - that was a really vivid detailed dream huh? I had dreams like that too when I was pg.

QT - You look adorable pregnant, definitely all belly.

Mara, ginger and not sure who else I am forgetting but you guys are getting so close! How exciting!!!

re: gtg - hit the "report concern" button and leave a message saying you''d like to attend the houston gtg. thanks to ps, we''ll be able to organize it behind the scenes :]

re: dream - yes it was! i couldn''t get over it. it was so real seeming!

prettyblues - i feel you on the moving/house situation. it''s so frustrating! plus all that in addition to being preggo is nutso. we went looking this weekend too. i''m worried that we a) won''t find anything or b) will + jump on it but it won''t be quite right since we''re feeling so rushed!

Cello - Thank you for sharing this. Try to take care of yourself so you can recuperate... I wish I could hug you!

Back labour - That''s what I experienced. It was really bad, especially after they ruptured my membranes. I have no idea if Jacob was sunny side up though.

To everyone due this week - I''m thinking about all of you and wishing you a positive birth experience.

Morning ladies!

cello, I am so sorry that everything was so out of your control and didn''t go the way you wanted. I''m glad your little man arrived safe and sound, and healthy. Here''s hoping that whoever you speak to about it will help you, I can''t even imagine how frustrating it must be.

I started training the girl that will be doing some of my job while I am on maternity leave. *pantomimes shooting self in head* Oh, dear lord, is she hard to train. It has taken me literally all morning, and I will have to sit with her many, many more times to drill it into her head. I feel exhausted and it''s only 10:30!

I also have a question. So my amniotic fluid is really high, and I have a colposcopy scheduled for tomorrow. I think it''s ridiculous and I do NOT want anyone poking at my cervix when I have such an over-abundance of fluid sitting right there - it just seems too much like tempting fate. My midwife recommended it, but that was last month when no one knew my fluid levels were so high. Do you ladies think I should try to get out of it, or are my worries unfounded? I don''t want to risk something going wrong when I am only 30 weeks, and messing with my cervix at all just seems redundant since even if I have abnormal cells they can''t do a thing about it until the baby is out anyway.

to KTFU. I was really hoping I was grossly mistaken.

Anywho, over the weekend I bought 3 new shirts for under $20 that should all work throughout the pregnancy. They all have that banded bottom and they should allow plenty of bump space. Obviously they should work for post-bump too and since they''re regular clothes and a cute style for me, I think I''ll be able to wear them comfortably for many months after baby. I ordered some maternity capris (on sale from last year''s collection) but the sizing was way off. When I tried to exchange them, the smaller size was gone. So, I only have mat jeans. That''s NOT going to work in a few months!

Also this weekend was the first time I was attracted to gender specific items. Usually I would just wander the baby section and look at everything. This time, I was definitely zoning in on the pink which is really weird because I''m convinced I''m having another boy...

SO, WHO''S HAVING A BABY THIS WEEK?!?!?!

Will we have 4 new babies????!!!!

Just so you ladies know. I am still here. hehe. Gonna go take a long walk now. Will catch up when I get back.

Hello again ladies,

So far I have JCrow, ChinaCat, GingerB, and RadiantGirl for the Houston GTG.

Is there anyone else? If so please REPORT CONCERN here and leave me a message.

Look out this afternoon or evening for instructions in your email!

steph, QT, RPS, Mara, so excited for you guys! Sending lots of labor dust your way!

That''s awesome that PS can now help plan GTGs to keep them private. JCrow, ChinaCat, GingerB, and RadiantGirl, have fun!

mela, i like Tacori''s signature line about expectations. when i think back to all the times i have been extremely disappointed in something it has to do with high expectations. not that i don''t think expectations are good in certain circumstances, but in something like this, to me it''s just like asking fate to give me the most screwed up labor and delivery possible hehe. i know it''s hard when it comes to something so personal like labor, it''s happening to your body and you are so actively involved, but i would just prefer to experience it all and take it for what it''s worth which might be a lot or nothing.

so i''m still here too, ladies! funny because literally yest i was like could it happen tonite because i was having a lot of contracts during the day but NOPE. kid was so quiet last nite and i had really no contracts! and i slept 12 hours, YAY. intermittently of course with like 6 pee breaks. but, i am so happy. this cold is still tenacious, i am over the worst of it, but my sinuses are still expectorating and i can tell my body just is loving the rest. so i am trying to listen to it and just sleep whenever possible. i have really nothing to DO which feels so great, and i am trying to enjoy it because the minute kid comes, obviously that will never happen again!

i told greg that the kiddo is prob trying to fly under the radar now. ''maybe if i''m really quiet at night mom won''t notice me'' hehee. it''s just so funny that sometimes i feel like we are really close but then my body feels like it pulls back. the good thing is i don''t feel crazy uncomfortable or anything. oh and he just seems REALLY low. i was showing greg where the uterus starts and he was amazed at how low it is now. it''s totally under my pelvic bones! i feel like he could just stick a hand out and wave!

it''s also funny because i waffle HOURLY on when i want him to come. like right now i am like ok any minute! because i feel like we are so ready. there''s nothing else to DO. but on the other hand i am like wow one more night with just us... so then i want that to happen too. but we are so ready to meet him, literally every night we talk to him and tell him to come out !!

anyway i will walk today with portia and then make some lasagna and relax.

QT and RPS good to see you guys still here but one of us has GOT to give this week. well we know steph will for sure on the 28th right steph??? unless you are already there...hehee.

meresal re: working out, i did zumba til about 16 weeks and it entailed a lot of hip shaking and gyrating and jumping but i just stopped after we got back from spain at about 19 weeks because i just felt like i couldn''t do the moves the right way anymore. but it had nothing to do with the jumping... i have a friend who did kboxing til 7 months. if your body is ''used'' to something and your preg is not high risk the dr told me to continue doing what i was used to as long as possible.

thanks for all the info re: sunny side up, everyone. you learn something new daily. i honestly thought that once the kid is in position that is it. i don''t think ours flips much, he is too much a creature of habit, but who knows. guess we''ll find out!!

jas hope you post a pic soon, 20 weeks!! wow!

lots of ladies looking for houses and/or moving while preggo. hope that everyone looking/buying/moving has a smooth experience.

umm and ginger i noticed you didnt do a pic this week. you are continually foiling my plans to see your belly!

howdy ladies.

I missed BPF this week because DH and I unexpectedly had to travel up to NY to visit my grandma. She just turned 93 and is truly a firecracker, but unfortunately is spending a bit of time in the ICU due to some internal bleeding. the drs. were hoping to avoid surgery, but it was not possible. Fortunately, the hospital has very lax visiting rules, so we were able to spend most of the weekend visiting. She''s doing much better after only a couple of days post-surgery, so I''m hoping that her spunk fully returns in no time flat.

I did however get a peek at most of the posts and not to sound too repetitive, but those bellies are just gorgeous. everyone looks smashing and I cannot wait until the newborn posts start streaming in!

hh: i''m very partial to your name choices - although we''ve been struggling with boy options jack henry is at the top of our list. however, i''m not sure that henry flows with our last name - which also ends in a --ry, so I''ve been trying to come up with a similar subsitute, but it just doesn''t have the flow...

also, in some *major* news, I *think* that I''m feeling the babe. It''s not like muscle pulls or fluttering or gas, but kind of like a muted tap. noticed it yesterday and again today. very, very exciting!

AND

I''ve have discovered smoothies.
9.gif
I love ice cream and was craving a milk shake. We were driving home from NY and stopped at some icky reststop along the NJ turnpike and there were all of these extremely unhealthy, but I''m sure delicious milkshake options. Then I spied a smootie joint and it was advertising protein and vitamins/minerals, so I got one and it was amazing. recreated it (kind of) this morning and again delicious. I''m excited to have a healthier option that doesn''t induce any guilt!!

Cello- Thank you for sharing your labor story, I am sure it was hard to relive it. I am so so sorry it was that horrible, but I hope time will bring you peace about it. You are really smart for getting help now. Hope you check in now and then, and when you are ready, we would love to see pictures of Soren. You are in my thoughts.

Radiant- Love to have you!!!! How old is your little one? I haven''t decided yet- depends on where we meet up. Ideally I will bring him for the first 30 mins or so, and then have DH pick him up so he doesn''t miss his nap. What about you? Also, do the preggos mind if we bring the munchkins?

Meresal- Hit the report concern button and join us silly!

Ella- Thank you so much for helping us organize. I think Meresal was planning on joining, but not sure.

It''s going to be a big week or two on this board! Exciting stuff.

I will be there! Munchkins are fine with me!

Mara- Thanks for explaining the jumping/bouncing thing. She said she was a runner and still doing that as well, so I guess it really isn't a big difference from that. Are you going to Zumba again after the baby is here? I watched a info-commercial the other day, and it looked pretty exciting! Do you have a place near you or do you just use the videos in your home?
I can't believe that cold is still hanging around. Glad to hear you got a bunch of sleep last night though!

lulu- Yay for smoothies and kicks! They are BOTH wonderful things!

ETA: Steph is the only one that hasn't checked in today???

meresal~I did step class (minus some of the jumping at the end) until I was about 35 weeks with T. With this one, not so much!(I got uncomfortable and lazy way earlier this time around!!

Hey, guys I''m still here! No real activity for me, so I guess it will be Wednesday. I can''t believe I will have another baby in less than 48 more hours! Wow! Can''t wait to hear from Mara, QT, and RPS also! Hope everyone''s having a great day!

I''m back again after a busy morning and an appointment with my midwife!

Everything''s still perfectly fine. Baby is lying on my left side, so he''s in good position, and his heart rate was good. My midwife said she''d be surprised if he doesn''t come in the next week, but I know that means very little.

I told her about the episode of shaking/cold last week and she said that it was likely some sort of huge hormone shift, especially since it followed a couple of hours of contractions that got no where. Apparently this is a good thing as it indicates that labor is getting closer.

We decided not to do an internal exam. With Will, at a bit over 40 weeks, I was only 1 cm dilated and even though I KNOW that doesn''t mean anything, it was depressing. Labor with him wasn''t bad at all because I got to 6 cm with very light and easy contractions, and then went from 6 to 10 in less than an hour. I think it''s safe to assume that it will be similar this time.

Re: Expectations about labor/delivery...It''s next to impossible to decide exactly how your labor will be, but I believe that you can make choices that are likely to lead to fulfilling your expectations.

For example, on the expecting group I''m on, early in the month, there was a flurry of posts about women who were being induced between 38 and 40 weeks, not for medical reasons. Invariably, someone would respond to a post saying that inducing when you''re not favorable puts you on the slippery slope to interventions, even as far as having a c-section. The original poster would pshaw that info. And now many of those women are posting about how bad their recoveries from c-sections are. I think it''s a shame that these women had to go through it, but what''s really a shame to me is that most of them won''t draw the conclusion that their labor was over-managed; they will instead draw the conclusion that they are broken.

There are some things that no one can predict will happen during labor, such as a placental abruption. This isn''t something that you can do anything about. But those things are pretty rare because our bodies are MEANT to give birth. I don''t believe that the majority of women are meant to do it while having pitocin pumped into them, stuck in bed during labor for monitoring and then in the lithotomy position to push.

Mara, I understand the waffling. I''m doing it too. There are times that I think that I''m just ready to get labor over with so we can all get on with our lives, and then a few minutes later, I start thinking about all of the things that I need to have done now that would be harder with a newborn.

I feel like I have a thousand excuses for not having a baby this week. Tonight, I need to get my nails done. Wednesday, I have a hair appointment that I will only miss if I''m in labor (because then it throws off my appointments for the entire year!). Thursday, Kate has gymnastics. Friday, it''s supposed to snow. Saturday, I think I have to take Hannah to riding lessons. Tomorrow and Sunday are open, I guess.

Chinacat - Thanks! I'm excited to meet everyone! My little guy just turned 6 months last Tuesday. I think I may have to bring him since my hubby is going to be playing baseball that morning, so no one to watch him. How old is your little guy again?

Radiant- Perfect! My son is about 5 1/2 months. We can show the ladies what they are in for.

Hello Ladies,
Wow does this thread move along!! 2 days and I''m behind 3 pages.. I''m trying to keep up and just can''t find the time.

Heres a start-
Cello: So sorry for the difficult labor, the most important thing is obviously the health of your little munchkin. I agree with some of the ladies and a sure that in time you will come to peace with not being able to follow your birth plan.

Mara: Sounds like your time is coming soon - Hopefully no back labor is in store for you.. I had it with my first daughter and the hot tub was my only relief (until the epidural at 40 hrs of labor or course.. that took care of it all

)

WoW all you houston ladies... I''m up here in WI.. anyone else in the area?

kim - lovely house! re: gd - i know everyone is different, but my sil had gd with both of her babies and delivered naturally both times. the first, she went 2 weeks early. the second, they induced her but she didn't have a c-section. re: hospital - that's great about touring the hospital. i can't wait to tour ours. hubby has already gone since they are a client of his, but he hasn't been in the birthing rooms themselves, just the labor floor. he said it was completely different that all the other floors of the hospital. very quite and homey. wood floors and nice fixtures and such. i can't wait to check it out. i'm hoping we have a birthing tub in our room, not necessarily for birthing but for relaxation.

Thanks, and thanks for sharing about your friend. Two of my friends delivered vaginally after induction, my sister had a c-section. I just would prefer not to mess with nature; end result: healthy kiddo and I'll be happy, it just seems so strange to know someone is going to tell me the approx. day when my daughter will be born.

ETA: I had my D&C at the hospital and our classes are on the L&D floor, so I've seen parts of it, I'm really looking forward to seeing the rooms though. Glad to know I'm not the only one interested in doing so!

That''s how much I love your house! OMG, it''s soooo adorable! I''m a big fan of Spanish-style houses and would have one myself in a heartbeat if they didn''t look totally out of place here in VA. I cannot believe that house is what? 70 years old? So much character and it looks very cozy. I''m so jealous!

I understand what you mean about the GD. I know a woman who had GD and just recently gave birth. Her GD was well-controlled with diet and she was allowed to go overdue, so maybe your doctor would be open to it?

I know darn well that I found some info for her about how the risks do not increase after 40 weeks for a woman with *well controlled* GD, but now I can''t find it for anything. I did find this and it might be interesting for you.

You''re right -- something normal has become somewhat complicated, which is frustrating. I think it''s even more frustrating because the evidence for treating GD is not as clear as it could be.

My fingers are crossed for you!

Hello ladies,

Those attending the Houston GTG should have received an email reply from me just a few minutes ago with instructions. Please let me know if you have trouble. If you didn''t get it make sure to check your spam folder of the email you signed up for PS with.

Thanks!

Wow Cello, thank you for sharing your story. I am glad that you are going to seek help, what an experience.

Kim, what a great looking house! oh that sky makes me miss summer!

MP, I am thrilled that Micah is still a boy and doing great.

Drk, I see your photos, and quite frankly woman, you are not human. So skinny! No belly button! Clearly you are not a mammal. Your girl is doing some crazy yoga in there.

So, coming up on 26 weeks and still haven''t felt the baby move. A friend said that it is because I store fat in my belly! The doc says the placenta just hasn''t moved up yet. I prefer that explanation; going in today to get a non-stress test (which is a funny term I must say). I am so jealous of you who feel movement. It is getting so old for people to tell me, "just wait, you will wish you didn''t feel the kicking once you do!" Boooo! I just want to know that he is alive in there. I should rent a doppler or something, but didn''t want to be obsessive. When do people start doing kick counts? The internets say 27 weeks, yeah, i just hope to feel something before then.

kimi - your house looks fantastic! seriously lovely! congratulations again and lmy fingers are also crossed for you to get the delivery you are hoping for.

swimmer - boo about the movements! I can relate as I''m not *exactly* sure that I''m feeling movements at 19wks and would very much appreciate some affirmative signs of life in there. However, my belly has definitely increased in size over the last two weeks, so I guess that I''ll have to be reassured by that...we contemplated a doppler as well, but just decided to try to have a faith that all is well. plus, we go to the dr. in about a week to for the *big* sonogram!!

speaking of drs. at my last appointment my ob told me that starting in march, he''s no longer accepting insurance
14.gif
. He would then fall into the out-of-network category which is only covered at 80%. I hope to have an easy, breezy rest of pregnancy and a smooth delivery
10.gif
, but I have no way of knowing that at this point, so it looks like I need to find a new doc. There are a couple of other people that I could see that work out of the same office, so I will start there, but I was quite fond of this guy...

had another smoothie this morning. delicious.
18.gif

Kim, congrats on the house! It''s beautiful. It looks so WARM there.
9.gif
I''m jealous!

Wow, Lulu...I never heard of an OB not taking insurance. Things must be getting tough for docs. Can you talk to your insurance company? The delivery may not be billed under the doctor - I think my SILs was billed by the hospital, in which case you might have the same coverage as before your doc stopped taking insurance.

Pup - it''s his decision. I guess he''s been working for a while and his practice is really busy. By not accepting insurance, he''ll reduce his patient load to something more manageable . . . that is a good point about the delivery and I do still have to confirm whether that would be billed under existing insurance. I do know how expensive all of this can get and don''t want to get stuck with an enormous bill at the end.

I guess that''s a good problem for a doc to have, right? Too many patients! Good luck, I hope you get answers from your insurance company that help you make a decision. I agree - the last thing you want is to be happily cuddling your bundle of joy and open the mail to a whopping bill! I''m fully covered and my doc takes my insurance (for now) and I''m still worried about that. I feel like sometimes insurance companies are intentionally gray on what they cover. It really does take a lot of digging to get to the bottom of how it all works.

Even now I get random bills for $10 here and $40 there for bloodwork, etc. It''s all become so complicated. I question EVERYTHING...I probably really annoy my insurance company.
2.gif

swimmer, renting the doppler certainly couldn''t hurt. I can''t imagine how frustrating that must be. Your placenta must be really thick - I thought that even if it was anterior you could still feel kicks? I might be mistaken. The doppler would be nice to have anyway
1.gif

Lulu, RPS, Swimmer, Pupp, thanks for the kind words about the house. We are both very excited. Sothern CA didn''t look like that last week, but for the most part we are very lucky to have such beautiful days.

RPS, as I continue to test and get really low numbers I find myself believing the diagnosis less and less, especially since my NP called it "borderline" at my last visit. I know it can be very real and a cause for concern for some women, but I just don''t think it is for me; my best guess is that it''s over-diagnosed. Yet I continue the diet, just in case. 7 more weeks is no big deal. I''ll be having a conversation with my OB the week of Feb. 15 to see how we move forward and I''m going to push for not inducing prior to my due date unless she really thinks it''s necessary.

Swimmer, I hope the NST was helpful. How frustrating for you. And don''t buy what those women are sellling, I love feeling movement and can''t imagine getting sick of it, even when her feet and hands are digging into my ribs.

Lulu, oh no! I''m so sorry you''re OB shopping at this stage!

Finished CBE classes last night and got to see the hospital. It really is a nice place. The family unit (where you go after birth) has 2 beds per room, one for partner if they''re not busy, which is nice. Our new house is about a mile from the hospital, so there''s no need for J to stay, but the option is there and that''s comforting.
