Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

lol i know kaleigh!! if i were that women at 3cm i''d be like GET IT OUT hehe. that is a stubborn child! she also said some people walk around for a few days or a week at like 5cm or 7cm. isnt that crazy?

5/1/1 is the 5 minutes apart, 1 minute long, for one hour duration contraction rule that my hospital told us to abide by on when to come in..aka labor at home til that point. i think that a lot of hospitals use something kind of similar. but a few gals on here recently have said they went in then and it was still a long time til they were ''ready''. i''d rather labor at home as long as possible if i don''t HAVE to go in and be hooked up. so i was happy to hear that can be the case as long as we feel comfortable (plus hospital is just 10 min away and we don''t have snow or anything to worry about).

she said a lot of times parents get excited and come in early and then are like what do you mean i am 2cm or whatever. hehee. i was like yeah i''d rather be at home screaming at greg than in a clinical bed. hehe.

Kimi~ Beautiful home!! Congrats!!

Steph~ GOOD LUCK, lots of healthy baby dust and more for Mama!! Your little guy is going to be such a good big brother! Congratulations to you all! Looking forward to hearing how second c''s go!! btw- My SIL just had her second c and couldn''t have food until the 2nd day (as soon as she proved her bowels were moving). So, don''t be surprised if your nurse walks in and in front of every one asks, "so, have you passed gas yet?" and then you get to admit to farting in front of everyone there just so you can have a sammy!

I was locked out of posting yesterday, so Good luck to all of you getting close (just in case I get locked out again!)

I realized today that this pregnancy is flying by compared to JT. With JT, every moment of every day was all about Baby. I just realized today that I''m almost 4 months. Literally a month a way from the 20 week mark!

Helped my sis find her wedding dress today. It''s gorgeous and fit her perfectly, no alterations necessary! Tomorrow we''re going to try to find something to fit my ever-changing shape. I think I''ll resemble the tomato that ate Tokyo.

I was one of those crazy people who dilated early. I was at 4cm for a day or two and not in active labor. I think it was because I had PTL so I was having regular contractions for months before actual labor but who knows. It''s very strange how our bodies work.

Hopefully stripping your membranes keep things moving along.

steph, I''ll be thinking of you tomorrow. Good luck! So exciting!

Mara
Hope the membrane stripping gets thing going for you.
I hope the walking works, but so far nada. Oh well, the boy will come when he is ready.

RPS, it's a strange position to be in.

Mara, my doctor is pretty conservative when it comes to interventions and uses a higher scale of numbbers than most, which is why while I'm frustrated with the dx I'm willing to do what i've been asked to. I haven't seen her since starting the diet and won't for several more weeks but I've been given permission to mess with food a bit here and there. It really is just a very healthy diet, so it's not a big deal, it's the delivery piece of the puzzle that concerns me. As for your coworker, hers must be pretty severe (family history, etc.) to have been diagnosed so early, or her doctor is just a lover of interventions. It has less to do with weight than you'd think. There was a woman in my class who was tall and on the thin side who was dx'ed at 12 weeks, her blood sugar was 230, no need for the second test. In her case I can absolutely see the need to take action immediately. I just think it's over-dx'ed and not completely understood. I have no problem standing up for myself when I think I'm being mishandled, but I also trust my OB, she's been doing her job for 27 years, has amazing credentials, and has delivered 6,000 babies, I think she's earned the respect and trust I have in her. So we'll be having a discussion about delivery and my options and I'll most definitely be sharing my thoughts and concerns with her. Anyways, here's hoping labor comes quickly.

Steph, lots of good wishes for tomorrow!

Thanks for all the kind words about the house, we really love it. Looking forward to moving. I keep getting the "Are you ready?" and "Are you anxious?" questions and my answer is still "No." I'm good with things as they are.

Wishing you the best of luck tomorrow Steph!

Mara, I really hope things progress for you! Stripping membranes sounds ouchie!

I saw KT post about the BGD site. I imagine she''s not posting from the delivery room though. Mara, you two have the same DD, right? KT, let us know how you''re doing when you have the chance!

LOL yeah HH we have the same date. I saw her come online earlier so I assume she''s not in labor yet, hehee.

Though...I plan to take my laptop to the hospital. Is that weird? hehee.

I didn''t know she had the same date as you, so am sending her all best wishes for a safe and healthy delivery...

Mara, Bring the lap top. You may want it, to ask last minute Q''s, etc... Plus it will make the time go by more quickly. If you leave it at home, you''ll be like Dang, should have brought it....

Good luck sweetie!!!

Gosh everyone is sooo close..

Steph,
I know you have to wake up early, My prayers are with you lady. Andrew will be soooo excited to meet his little brother...

We brought a laptop last time, but didn''t use it. This time we''ll just use our iPhone.

Hi HH!! Thanks for the well wishes Kaleigh!!

Yup I am still here. I have had some contractions on and off the past week but nothing steady. I am going to stay home as long as I can too. I am GBS neg and really really don''t want to be a patient at the hospital any longer than I have to be!! Nurses don''t make for good patients!

Anyways, I don''t see my OB till Thursday but I am really hoping for some progress. I was only a fingertip dilated last week. If nothing else has happened I think I might cry! I am ready to meet my little man. DH is really getting excited now. I think it is finally becoming "real" to him that we are going to have a baby and soon! He was so cute talking on the phone the other night about the kids tiny toes and little shoes.

I like Mara do plan on taking my laptop as well...guess we are both weird!! I keep telling Mara that we are going to have these babies on the same day so anything she does to speed it up (membrane stripping...ouch) works for me! LOL!!

I opted out of the colpo, ladies. I spoke with a nurse who said that she really wondered why they had me doing it so late in the game, especially with my high fluid levels. She said the risk of pre-term labor goes up quite a lot after the first trimester, which is when most women get it done if their pap is abnormal, so I decided not to do it until after Micah has arrived. It just made me uncomfortable with the risks. Thanks for the good thoughts, ladies.

Oh ladies... amnio results came in and the little one is Rh+
39.gif
Sigh. I''ve said all along that I thought he was Rh+, but it was still different hearing it. It is like having Natalie all over again. But I have another doppler ultrasound tomorrow so we''ll see if his levels are rising or not. I know that we''re in for a bumpy ride but I am just hoping, hoping, hoping that I will get to hold a sweet, healthy little guy in a few months. Sorry for the short self-centered post... I am so anxiously awaiting news from all of you ladies who are due this week! And Lulu I am so excited that you''re feeling movement
1.gif
It is so awesome.

oh lindsey, i''m so sorry to hear this news! i have followed your story and admired your strength for a long time. i know it doesn''t help much, but you will certainly have everyone here pulling for you! i''m sure the doctors will keep EXTRA close tabs on you! i just know this is going to have a happy ending!

HUGS!!!

best of luck to everyone! steph, we''ll all be thinking of you tomorrow. your hospital sounds AMAZING!! can''t wait to see pics!

can''t wait to see who''s next after steph!

everything is good on my end. a whole whopping 9 weeks today. met with MFM this morning who did ANOTHER u/s. the little dude is growing well and hr today was 167. always reassuring to see/hear. we have decided against doing the progesterone shots. just didn''t really feel like there was enough info to warrant them at this point. i''m so glad we made our decision! we will be doing serial ultrasounds for cervical length, but other than that, hoping for a normal pregnancy!! :)

xo,
LIA

Lindsey~So sorry for the disappointing news! I''ll be thinking of you and your little guy and know you''ll be holding him in your arms before you know it!!
2.gif

Mara~Hope the membrane stripping moves things along for you! I will totally be bringing my laptop!!

Steph~Your hospital sounds amazing! We''ll all be thinking about you!

Thinking of all preggos who are due soon and hoping to see some cute baby pics SOON!!!!

Lindsey, sorry about your news. i don't really know anything about the RH+ issue other than the basics, but the fact that the doctors are already trying to manage it and know about it ahead of time is good, right? it's tough to know you are in for a bumpy road, but i hope with all my heart that at the end of the experience you will end up with your healthy little boy.

MP.. i am glad you opted out of the colp. definitely don't need to be poking around in there if you don't NEED to right now. what did the midwife or nurse say about your higher fluid levels, does that eventually go down or ?

KT..if you can piggyback on my date i am all for us birthing on the same day hehe, that would be awesome!

LIA..yay for seeing the bean again and a heartbeat. i loved my early US's big time for that extra reassurance.

Burk..lol re the laptop... yeah my iPhone might not cut it if we are there for a long time and I am bored!

so RPS you will get a kick out of this but remember how my mom wanted an Aq g'baby to honor her dad, my grandfather who died when i was one? well i guess his bday is Jan 30 so NOW she wants me to birth on that day so that maybe i will get his soul reincarnated. she is just cracking me up. i am like Mom i don't want to raise my grandfather!! but she's convinced it's going to happen because i was his favorite grandchild. anyway...i told her it's creeping me out hahaa so she said she'd stop talking about it. lol.

Laptop - we brought our laptop to the hospital and used it. I don''t think it''s weird.

Lindsey, so sorry to hear your dissapointing news. I am sending lots of good thoughts your way. We are all rooting for your little guy!

Cello- oh hun, lots of HUGS. I appreciate that you shared your story. Take time to heal and find peace
Kimberly- LOVE the house! It''s so SD. CONGRATS! When are you back in the L.A area? I think it would be cool to meetup.
Swimmer- I hope you start feeling movement soon!
Lulu- Sorry to hear about your OB. I had to find a new one at 12 weeks, but I knew that going in. Wishing you lots of luck
SS- I feel the same way- time sure is a-flyin''
Ginger- you''re so close! I hope that GBaby listens and is on time
Burk- Good to see you!
LIA- Yahoo for 9 weeks!
MP- Sounds like you made a good decision. better to wait until after your LO arrives
Steph- WOW, your hospital sounds fab! Too cute about your DH sending you txts-He''s so excited!

RPS, Mara & QT- who''s next??

Lindsey- I''ve been thinking of you. I hope that you get good news tomorrow and that YES- you will be holding a darling LO in a few months!

I''m just shy of 19 weeks. Had the 2ndTri ultrasound today with the perinatologist and also visited with the genetic counselor. I haven''t shared the results of my 1stTri NT and screenings in this thread. All the results thus far have been normal/low-risk. But that "gotta know" stubborness in me still had the amnio in the back of my mind, so i''ve been struggling with this. Anyway, it was good to meet with the counselor today and hear some actual numbers since they took EVERYTHING done until now and gave me a complete assesment, which was excellent for my age. DH and I decided to first have the ultrasound and then make the amnio decision. Well, the ultrasound went smoothly- everything from the head shape/size to the thighbone measurement is on track- the perinatologist is a straight-shooter and basically told us that she didn''t see the need for an amnio. so we signed the agreement electing not to do one.

I see my actual OB tomorrow, and that should just be a routine pre-natal exam.

Hope everyone is well!

Lindsey,

Wanted to tell you that I''m praying for you, your hubs, and Andrew. So glad you have awesome medical care to help you get your son here safely!

Steph,

Girl, Florida has a brand new precious baby boy today! Congratulations, will be eager to see your post! Welcome to the world, Evan!

Lindsey, I'm sorry that this isn't easier, but I know that you will be snuggling andrew come summertime
30.gif
I'll be sending all sorts of good thoughts your way!!

charger, hurray for not needing an amnio! it's such a difficult decision sometimes and I'm so happy to hear that everything is measuring as it should.

Steph - hope that you have your little man in your arms about now!!!! congratulations to your family

laptops - interesting (and smart) idea. have to keep that in mind.

thanks for the sympathy concerning my ob. I'm honestly not too concerned. There are a few other dr. options within that practice, so I'm hoping that one of them clicks. plus, like others have said, it's the nurses that really matter right
2.gif

one week until my gender scan (can you tell that i'm excited).

Yay, Steph! I hope your little man has arrived already - can hardly wait to see him! (Man, I wish I could know exactly when my little guy would be arriving lol.)

Mara, they said my fluid levels will be monitored but that they likely won''t go down, the baby will just grow big enough to take up the space. No one seems terribly concerned about it, so I am trying not to worry too much. DH is convinced I will pop like a water balloon at any moment lol.

Lindsey, I''m sorry
7.gif
It''s good they caught it early though, right?

Steph- I hope you are holding your new baby now!!! We can't wait to meet him!!!
30.gif

Lindsey- I'm so sorry to hear about the test results. One of my friends is Rh-, but she lost her pregnancy very early. I wish you the best of luck in the rest of the pregnancy. Can you explain what steps you will have to take from here on out? If you don't want to, I understand, just wondering becuase I have never read much information regarding the entire Rh+/- thing. We'll be praying for you.

Charger- I'm glad that you all were able to have your minds put to ease? Is there any specific reason that you are so worried? Does Downs run in your families?

Monkeypie- I'm glad to hear that someone finally made a decision regarding your exam. I would be as worried as you were, and I'm glad that you are going to have it put off. No reason to rock the boat.

I am 27 weeks today! I think that I am getting the first symptoms of acid reflux. Last night I had to sit up in bed for 20 minutes burping, before I could lay down comfortably, or without feeling like anything was creeping up my throat. I have been having this "feeling" for about a week now, but last night was the first time it really felt like a burning.

How are all you ladies doing... feeling any "different"??? Mara, RPS, QT???
31.gif

Lindsey~ So sorry to hear of the RH+, but they found it and can really be proactive with you and the baby! Everything will be fine for you both!

Charger~ I hope you''re able to find a little more peace with things. I didn''t know you had been so worried. Yay for a great US!!

Steph~ I bet your little guy is here! Congratulations!!

QUESTION: Who has a bellaband? Do you like it? How far along have you worn it? I only have mat jeans and am having terrible luck finding capris. If the bellaband really does work, I was hoping I could use it over my regular capris. But, that would be the end of the pregnancy and I don''t even know if they will FIT let alone hold up the pants by then.

meresal - i hear you on the acid thing. ugh. it''s so yucky. i''ve had this stuff in my throat thing since the beginning, but now it''s actually more of an acid feeling. it''s especially bad at night. i''ve found that eating smaller amounts of food more often than 3 large meals helps. i do eat a full breakfast, mainly because i feel my best in the morning.

somethingshiny - i have the knock off bellaband from pea in a pod. i bought it at destination maternity and i like it a lot. i''m nearly 27 weeks and still wear it. i''d stay away from the knock off at target, though.

I'm wearing a lacy black BB right now. Actually it's an ebay knockoff, but it works great! I've been wearing them since last week off and on. some pants fit better than others right now (damn bloat!!!). They're really comfortable and the trick is to put it on under your pants (down over your hips/panties) pull your pants up and then fold the top over to cover the button holes. I've heard that this is the solution for women with smaller hips who can't hold them up. I don't have that problem, but it's more comfortable this way. I have one in white and one in black and like I said, I got them off of ebay, 2 for $20 including shipping. At Doulashop.com they're like $29 each. ETA: and I'm 6w 1d, so I've been wearing them since the end of week 5.

Good morning! It''s so exciting to know that Steph''s baby has probably been born already!

Mara, I bet you''re next! Wouldn''t it be nice if it really worked like you suggested -- you wake up one morning and there the baby is in your bed? LOL! I love that image.

IMHO, staying home as long as possible is an excellent plan. You can move around however you want, which is really good for dealing with contractions and getting the baby in the best possible position, and you can eat/drink as you want (which I think is important for comfort). I don''t think it''s crazy to take your laptop to the hospital, either, because you can use it to keep yourself occupied. Better to have it there and not use it than to leave it at home and want it.

Your mom cracks me right up! I''ll bet she''s a trip to be around! I''ve had friends and family telling me dates when I can have the baby, too, and I understand that they mean well, but I want our son to have his own birthday. I''m kind of weird like that.

MP, I think opting out of the colposcopy was smart, even though the risks were probably were small. At 30 weeks, it''s unlikely that your cervix is dilated so the doc wouldn''t be able to touch the amniotic sac, but since they can''t actually DO any treatment, why bother? FWIW, I had an abnormal pap when I was pregnant with #4 and after she was born, had LEEP done. I had had a colposcopy and biopsy done a couple years prior and I thought the biopsy hurt like hell, so when the same issue came up, I asked the doc to go straight to treatment. I''ve had clear paps since then and no impact on my cervix as far as dilating during labor.

Lindsey, I''m sorry your little one is Rh+. Like I''ve said before, I don''t know much about it, but I will be watching for your updates and keeping my fingers crossed that everything turns out fine.

Nothing new for me. I have a haircut appointment today and at the same appointment, I have a mini-massage, which I''m *really* looking forward to since my back''s been bothering me a lot lately. I also need to find time to go get my nails done because I put it off the other night...and then broke one last night, argh. I figured the last time I had my hair cut and nails done that the next time I had to do those things, I''d be hauling a baby along! LOL!

The ONLY good thing about being overdue is the look you get when you tell someone that you''re X number of days overdue. I swear, some people think that you''re going to lie down and give birth right there. Really, honestly, people, if I go into labor anywhere but at home, I''m sure that I will be able to leave your fine establishment before delivering.

We''re supposed to get some snow on Saturday, so I''m hoping baby comes before then. It''s unlikely to be much, but it will be much colder than it''s been the last few days and I hate taking a new baby out when it''s freezing. We''ll have to take the baby to the pediatrician at least when he''s 2 days old for a check up, so that''s unavoidable. I guess the good thing is that we have a light snowsuit, plenty of blankets and a Snuzzler for the car seat, so he should be nice and toasty.

And I got the training materials done, so I''m home free as far as work! I have some busy work to do, but my schedule is pretty much cleared! Yay!

Mara-

When is your boy going to ''grace us'' with his presence. I log on sometimes just to see if the little man has decided to show his face.

Lindsey, I''m sorry to hear your RH news about your little guy, but the good thing is the doctors caught it early on, so I''m sure that they''ll be able to manage it and you''ll be holding your sweet, healthy little boy in just a few months!

Cello, I meant to reply earlier to your birth story - sorry to just be getting back to you now. I am so sorry that your dr. caused so much stress during your delivery. In my case, it was my nurse - she was horrible and mean, and would leave just me & husband alone in the room for 30 minutes at a time during PUSHING. I totally regretted after the fact not getting a doula. Anyway, I just wanted to mention it, because it made it easier to deal with after the fact, that I could control who my labor assistant would be during my next pregnancy (not her!). It made me feel like I had some control over the situation going forward. Maybe you could switch doctors after your follow-up appointments, so you don''t have to deal with that jerk ever again. I also agree with getting some counseling - I did and it really helped me deal with the situation. I also had problems with latch, low milk supply and thrush, so we only BFed for 3 months, and all of it was horrible. Just do what you need to do and don''t feel bad about supplementing - we had to supplement from day 2, and it really helped my son. Also, I started taking Wellbutrin for postpartum depression right after I stopped BFing, and it really helped me feel better and more energetic. I took it for 6 months, and it really helped me.

Shiny, regarding the Belly Bands, they are great. I have one that I got at Motherhood during my first trimester that I am still wearing. They make all of my pants more comfortable, and add a lot of support.

Meresal, I have had HORRIBLE heartburn & reflux with this pregnancy. It was pretty bad last time and Andrew was born with a mop top of blong hair, so I''m thinking that this baby is going to come out looking like Cousin It
emteeth.gif
Anyway, it was so bad that I talked to my dr. about it, and she recommended OTC Zantac (75 mg is totally safe once a day). However, I find that good old-fashioned Tums when it flares up still works the best.

MP, it sounds like a good decision to postpone the colposcopy. I''m sure that everything will be OK, and you are so close to having the baby now, it''s probably better to wait.

Mara, I hope that you''re feeling OK - you are so close!

Steph, I hope that you are holding your sweet little boy right now!!!

Thanks for the backup on the colpo, ladies - I am telling my midwife that all my PG friends told me I was smart not to do it, hah. She''ll be like, "Jeez, how many PG ladies do you know?!" Quite a few, lucky me!
