Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

QT I am sure it will go fine! I too was very updet about being induced, but it all worked out ok for me with a normal vag. delivery. This is your secondso I bet it will go smoothly too. May I ask, why did you and your docs make the decision to induce so soon after your due date?

I usually just lurk on this thread, but I just wanted to pop in to say congrats to Steph and RPS for your precious new guys, and good luck to Mara, Qtiekiki, and Ginger on your soon-to-arrive little ones!! Go mamas go!!

QT, good luck with the induction!

There''s really no good reason why we decided to have the induction so soon after my due date since our healths are not at risk. We asked my dr what he recommends at my appt, and he recommended for us to schedule an induction in the next five days. He prefers not to have his patients go over 41 weeks. I want an end date bc being overdue is taking a toll on me. That''s why I am conflicted on whether we made the right decision.

Q,
How was the labor with your first?? Just curious. I don''t blame you for wanting an end date, especially since it''s taking a toll on you!!

I wish you all the best for tomorrow qtiekiki!!!!

Think good thoughts, we will all be praying for you!!

QT and Mara, thinking about you both!!!!

RPS, he''s gorgeous! Congratulations.

Steph, Evan is darling.

Lulu, best picture ever!

Mara, sounds like you''re well on your way, you''ve been pretty anxious, I''m glad the time is here for you.

Had my first baby shower this weekend. Two of my girlfriends from N.CA ended up making it, one I knew was coming the other suprised me, she was standing in my parents'' kitchen when I walked in the door from the grocery store. Such a great suprise! Having them there made the weekend perfect. We got lots of wonderful, generous gifts and the shower was so nice. I drove home this afternoon and am pretty wiped. J is sick again, poor guy. Baby-wise things are the same.

Go, Mara...go, Mara...go, Mara!!

You can do this! I''m cheering for an easy labor and delivery for you!

QT, I''ll be thinking about you tomorrow! Please don''t feel that there''s anything wrong with your body. I can understand being uncomfortable and wanting to have it all be over. You''re inducing well before you would be considered terribly late, so if you weren''t induced, it''s very likely you would go into labor -- if that all makes sense. Point is, there''s nothing wrong with you. Since this is your second baby, I''m sure that things will go well!

All I know is that Mara is at the hospital, water has broken. Little dilation, so pitocin and an epidural are in order...

Hoping Alj or Greg will update Ps'ers as need be....

Wishing you all the best Mara.. The pitocin kicks in hard, but with an epidural, you should be fine!!!

my dr doesn''t like to induce first babies until 41 weeks. But, 2nd or 3rd, if the first was smooth he''ll induce sooner. He actually ok''d my induction at 39 weeks but the hospital was booked and I couldn''t get in until 2 days b/f my due date. I actually wanted to be induced even sooner and my doc made me wait until my 39 week check-up. Having that light at the end of tunnel is what got me though mentally and qt it''s totally ok to feel that way. who knows, you still have a little time left to go into labor all on your own and if not, don''t feel bad at all for being induced. you are full term so there is no reason for the baby to keep baking and you risking the complications that come along with babies who stay in too long!

It''s weird to think how much your hormones are affected by pregnancy.

Lindsay I just read your news that you son is RH+. I am so sad that this is how it turned out! I am glad you are getting the best care possible, and I will be thinking of you and your son over the coming months.

Finally getting around to posting my birth story...

We arrived at the hospital a bit before 5am when we were scheduled to be there. They took us right back to start the pre op. I told the nurse I had really small veins when she was doing the blood work, but she tried 3 times and couldn''t get it right, so then they called the anesthesiologist and she took a few times to get it. Now, I don''t do blood well in the first place, so getting stuck 5 or 6 times was not too much fun, but I was ok since I was lying down. The anesthesiologist then sat me up to get the epidural going. As soon as she said "okay, don''t move" I felt myself starting to black out. I told them I was about to pass out and all I remember is having a room full of nurses in there trying to get me back with smelling salts. I did this one other time while she was trying to get the epidural in, so not much fun at all, but they finally got it going. After getting medication, I was much much less anxious and nervous about the surgery.

So a while later, we rolled into the OR, and the surgery itself went very, very smoothly with no complications. It was the sweetest sound when they pulled him out and I heard my baby cry for the first time. The nurses took lots of pictures with the 3 of us, and then took the baby to the transitional nursery for a while to be checked out for fluid in the lungs and some rapid breathing. They finished taking care of me what seemed like forever later and then rolled me to recovery.

Overall, I did really well although I fainted 2 more times in my room after trying to get up and walk around the first 2 times. Oh, and I broke out into severe hives from one of the medications they gave me. But on day two, I was up and about walking around on my own and feeling good, so they let us go home. Baby Evan was doing well except for losing 14% of his body weight before discharging us, so they are having me supplement with formula. We took him to the ped. yesterday and he had started gaining weight so that is good.

We are now home, trying to establish a little bit of a routine. His big brother Andrew is in total love with him. He loves to help me feed him the bottle and loves to give him lots of kisses! We are loving having a family of 4!

For my first pregnancy, I woke up at around 1am with contractions and bloody show when I was 39w2d. The contractions continued throughout the day. We went to the hospital at around 9:30pm when I couldn''t talk through my contractions. I was 4cm dilated when I got there. They put in an IV and the monitors. I got an epidural at around 10:30pm since I wasn''t very mobile with all those things strapped on (wasn''t allowed to walk off the pain). I dilated to 9cm about an hour or so later, but my contractions weren''t getting closer together. So my dr. decided to break my water and give me pitocin. When the dr. came back to check on me, it''s 1:30ish and time to push. Meena was born an hour later. So I did have pitocin before and reacted well to it. I consider my L&D to be short and easy b/c the contractions weren''t painful until I headed to the hospital and I was only in the hospital for 5 hrs before giving birth. I guess I am just nervous because of failed induction stories. I am going to think positive.

Thanks for the update on Mara.

Go Mara. Can''t wait to hear from you or Greg.

MrsS
Thanks for sharing your story. I definitely would''ve wait longer if this was my first. I think I have the expectation of the baby coming early since Meena was, and that made it harder for me.

HH
Awww, pregnancy hormones can do a number on you. It happens.

Just wanted to send some easy labor vibes to Mara and my girl qtiekiki!!!! Looks like we''ll be meeting some new babies in the next 24 hours!!!

DD
Don''t worry. I know you didn''t ask to make me feel bad. It''s my own struggle with the situation. I am just glad that I can be completely honest here, and you ladies are so supportive regardless.

I hear ya. I was 15 days early with my first. My water broke with her. then I was one week early with Lily so I totally expected to go early with jake. When I got to 38 weeks and nothing with Jake I was getting so depressed and I was HUGE and felt awful and actually asked for the induction then. My dr.really does prefer for women to go into labor naturally so he said lets give it one more week. then at 39 weeks still basically no progression at all. I really thought b/c I'd done it 2x before that the 3rd would be early and faster and Jake was apparently the most content baking. he was also 9 lbs so if he'd have baked much longer I don't want to think about how big he would have been
32.gif
anyway, seriously try not to worry. pregnancies usually repeat themselves so the fact you had a VB with M means that it's more likely that you will have a VB with this one, induction or not. and you had a good experience with pitocin before which is in your favor as well!

Best of luck QT and Mara!!! Can''t wait to meet the newest PS babies!!!
