Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Congratulations Mara, Mr. Mara and baby T!!! Can't wait to see pictures :)

DH and I ended up getting into a huge argument last night at midnight about my "attitude." You know, the one I have no idea I have? He kept saying you need to be sensitive to people around you and I kept saying how can I be sensitive when I don't even know I'm doing it? It ended with me sobbing and dry heaving on the bathroom floor and feeling like the worst wife in the world. Seriously, I'm not sure how I'm going to get through 9 months of this with my marriage intact.

Congratulations, Mara and Greg! Welcome to the world, T!

What a good sized boy! And it looks like she wasn't pushing that long, either.

It's so exciting to see this parade of babies being born here -- it's like cuteness overload.

You can say that again!

Congratulations Mara, I hope you 3 are doing well.

I''ve been barely online for a few days with the move craziness here. 35.5 weeks today, unbelievably. Will have to post a couple of BPF pics sometime soon if I can locate the cable to transfer from my camera to PC!

Congrats to RPS, Steph and Mara! Good luck today QT!

OK Mara - How come there was no iphone post of "he''s crowning!"??? The intralabour updates were awesome :)

Have a doc appointment later today. Then a little shopping, then back to the unpacking. Should be a fun couple days. Oh, I''d better not forget to do my presentation for work, which I have to give on Wed. Figured I''d better volunteer to do one before the baby comes, because I''ll want to do it even less later in the year after she''s here. She was a total snake in there last night, with the whole belly shifting, seeing a foot or knee move from mid to right upper belly under my nightshirt. Glad she''s a happy camper!

Now I''m just praying that the electrician won''t find any further nastiness with the upstairs potlights today, and then I''ll be able to breathe a little easier.

Will update again later (if there''s anything to add - I think finally I''ve graduated past ultrasound and on to just the doppler).

wow!!! You guys are busy over here!!!!

Hudson, it's the hormones!!! Just tell your DH he just better get used to some attitude...because well, it will happen!...so he has to be patient. You're allowed to have an attitude, and not know it ;)

RPS congratulations on the birth of Benjamin! He is so adorable. I could not BELIEVE how fast you were posting your birth story afterward, you are one amazing lady!

Mara congratulations mama! I love Baby T's name and cannot wait to see pictures -- I hope that labor went as smoothly as possible for you!

Either way, cannot wait to hear about your little one.

drk I cannot believe that you are over 35 weeks now. I remember following your journey through IVF and was always just rooting for you. I am so, so happy that your time is so near now. The struggle to have a child (in whatever way) makes it that much sweeter... I cannot wait to see pictures of your little one in a few weeks.

I'm doing well, I had IViG last night instead of my usual Saturday night because we got snow dumped on us unexpectedly Saturday. Meteorologists have it made... a job where you don't even have to make an effort at getting it right
11.gif
We were supposed to get none and then Saturday morning once it was already snowing it went to 1-2 inches, then 2-3, then 4-6... and then we got a little more. Seriously! So I went last night which is why I'm home right now... the IViG leaves you feeling hung over the next day, for lack of a better description. Very tired, intense headaches, and I get throw up sick if I try to go out and do anything (like grocery shop.) So my usual ritual is when I get home on Sunday morning I crawl right into bed and crash for a few hours, which is what I did this morning only it's Monday... when I usually work! So I just woke up a few minutes ago, will likely get showered and see if I can hack it at work this afternoon. My nurse had another patient doing IViG who just delivered and she was doing treatment on Friday nights... so now I can move to Friday nights. Which will be so nice because it won't fall smack in the middle of the weekend... we haven't really been able to go anywhere for the last 7 weeks. So I'm going to call this week and get my schedule changed, and I am so excited! Next weekend the husband and I can go down to VA and visit my family -- wonderful!

I had my weekly scan last week and was a bit surprised by the new nurse who will be doing them. She does all of the fetal blood transfusions with my Dr. and these scans are her specialty, which makes me feel better about the whole thing. The maternal-fetal office that I went to when I was pregnant with Natalie didn't really "specialize" in the antibody sensitization like this current Dr. and even his staff does. This nurse and I had a long conversation about what happened to Natalie, how often my scans will be, etc. I told her that I didn't feel comfortable on a bi-weekly schedule this time because Natalie looked fine at one appointment, and then died 1-2 days before my next appointment was scheduled. Mentally, I know that I cannot go two weeks before scans. She was very understanding and said "well, weekly scans it is!" She told me that she honestly doubted Natalie looked 100% fine at the last scan that I had with her... and that there are a lot of other signs that she looks for to detect anemia besides the systolic velocity of the artery in the brain. She said she looks at increases in amniotic fluid (this clicked with me, when I delivered Natalie in the OR the staff was commenting on how much amniotic fluid there was), skin thickness, any organ swelling or fluid deposits, etc. So I feel like I'm in very good hands. She said she watches for all of those things, and if she sees anything wacky at all even if the artery reading is good, they move to invasive testing to check on the baby.

Anyway, she performed the scan last week and before we started she was just very matter of fact... she certainly does not ease you into anything! I walked in and she said "OK if little Andrew's systolic velocity is 36 or over, we'll do your first transfusion on Friday." I nearly fainted, lol! He was at 31 cm/sec so right on the borderline of normal/mild anemia for his gestational age. I will be 20 weeks at my scan this Wednesday, and am so, so hoping that we can at least make it until 28 weeks before the first transfusion. It's impossible to predict when he will need the first one -- she did said that she was confident that he would need them at some point. It's too scary having them this early because so many things can go wrong during the transfusions... so come on, 28 weeks or later!
1.gif
Also, my new Dr. will not tranfuse after 34 weeks... so if we're already doing transfusions (every 7-15 days) and he needs another after 34 weeks... we deliver. I know preemie babies do well now, but it scares me. But then, so does going full term after last time. Anyway, that's my long update!

Lindsey-I am so glad that you are in good hands and that this office specializes in the kind of treatments you need! I hope little Andrew stays strong and keeps growing and that you can make it until 28 weeks before the first transfusion. Big hugs and lots of well wishes coming your way!!!

congrats Mara!!!

QT,
Thinking of you today!!!! Good luck Momma!!!!

Congratulations Mara and Greg! Welcome Baby T!

Lindsey- I don't really know what it is about your post, but I realized I was smiling while reading the whole thing. You just sound so positive. Your nurse sounds like an absolute gem and is exactly who any of us would LOVE to have if we were in your situation. I'm so glad that you have someone that is so open with you and that you can trust so much!

Qt- I hope that you are doing great!!

Mara, congrats woman! Very happy for you.

Lindsey, you''re in my thoughts...thanks for the update and stay strong!

Lindsey, thank you so much for sharing all of the details of what you''re going through! It''s absolutely amazing to me. I''m really glad that your new nurse is so knowledgable -- I''m sure that''s a comfort to you. My fingers are crossed that you can get to 28 weeks before the first transfusion and that Andrew continues to do well!

Lindsey, it sounds like your doctor and his staff are a perfect fit. As scary as all this must be I am so glad you have such a great team working with you.

Congratulations, Mara and Greg! Hope you''re enjoying time with your new little guy.

HH, take deep breaths. Perhaps you and your husband can come up with a code word for when he thinks you''re being insensitive and use it to defuse the situation rather than him confronting you and you feeling horrible. I have been lucky in that my mood has been great throughout my pregnancy with the exception of a few days (my husband says I''m nicer when I''m pregnant) but those days/moments were hard to contend with for both of us.

I didn''t get a job today, so I''ll be working on consulting stuff. I''m wanting to work as much as possible now, in preperation for not working later. I actually get sad when I don''t have a job on a week day.

The next two months seem to be getting busier and busier with people from out of town wanting to visit for showers and after the baby is born. Trying to find balance for my husband, who is pretty private, and people wanting to be included in all that''s going on in our life (move and baby). We''re looking at least one weekend before and 2-3 weeks immediately after the baby is born of house guests which is going to be very overwhelming for both of us, but especially him. This is the hardest part of people living far away.

Good luck QT!!

So glad you''re in good hands Lindsey. So, so glad. ((hug))

WOOHOO Mara!! Can''t wait to hear all about it! So proud of you! Congrats to you and Greg!
