Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Thanks SoExcited. I keep telling DH it''s got a 50/50 chance of being right or wrong, but then again so do we when we guess
3.gif

qt, congratulations on the arrival of Jaron!!!

Mara, great story. Sounds like you handled it really well! Your little man is adorable--can''t wait to hear his name!

FWIW, ours was right.
However, we went into it with the knowledge and acceptance that it is just a 50/50 guess. If it was actually anywhere near accurate, it would be the same price as those places that charge you to do the early gender U/S.

Thanks for sharing your amazing birth story Mara!! I'm so happy for you, Greg and your little one.

CONGRATS Mara and QT!!!!!!!!

Can't wait to see pics of your handsome little men

You're NEXT lady!!!!

*chants* 'Push him out, Push him out, waaaaay out! Push him out, Push him out, waaaaay out! Push him out, Push him out, waaaaay out!!!!'
OMG - I've been HOUNDING poor KT with the daily phone checks, too!

Trouble is, her little man is just completely happy where he is and doesn't feel like evicting! LOL

Hopefully, it will be soon. YAY!
I'm still waiting!! LOL. Not much action going on. I'm just trying to keep busy and keep my mind off of being late. I'm going to get a mani/pedi tomorrow and maybe even see a movie.
I have a feeling he is waiting for the end of the week so his dad will be there the whole time I'm in the hospital and not be super stressed about missing academy! We will see....one day at a time.

HH - we did the Intelligender test and it was right. Not really worth the 35$ as I wasn't sure if I should believe it or not, but it was fun.

Hang in there KT!!! Sounds like you are coping really well!!!
1.gif

okay ladies, I would love it if you sent a little *good weather* dust my way.

our l.o.n.g. awaited 20wk scan is tomorrow and the forecast is calling for snow, and they keep increasing the accumulation!

where I live, mere inches is enough to close down schools, businesses etc
5.gif
and they are saying that as much as six might stick.

it''s supposed to fall mostly overnight, so I''m hoping that everything will be cleared by my appointment, but I can absolutely see it being cancelled.

so please think about sunshine, warm temperatures, tropical breezes, summer time and lemonade

Mara~ Great birth story! Thanks for sharing!! Ditto on pitocin and epi going hand in hand. ESPECIALLY when there''s back labor involved. I know 2 inductions that didn''t get the epi, one was the most miserable experience of her life, the other was astonishingly quick.

Just found out that my cousin who was in her first tri lost the baby.
39.gif
Her dumb husband has decided that no one should talk about it or offer condolences.
29.gif

I have a doc appt tomorrow so I''ll see if I''m in trouble for losing weight.... I''m expecting NOT to be in trouble because I''m clearly showing which should indicate that fetal growth is on track, right? Anyway, I''ve been thinking about finding out the gender (which we''ll be able to do in a month or so) and all of the sudden I feel like I DON''T want to know. It''s really weird because I''m an anal planner and if it''s a girl I must buy pink things. If it''s a boy we''ll have much less to buy.

Hope you''re all doing well, I still am in awe of the birthing party that we''ve had on this thread!

Um, someone needs to kick him, HARD!

How many weeks along are you? I asked my doc about weight loss and she said that it''s common in the first trimester and things usually level out in time. Some women lose one week only to gain double the next apparently. NM, I see you''re approaching 20 weeks....Fingers crossed for you!

SS,
I am sooooo sorry for your cousin. It can''t be swept under the rug like it never happened!!! She''s got so many feelings and they need an outlet of some sort and family is who you turn to ....

Someone needs to talk to her husband and quick... Fine if HE doesn''t want to talk about it right now , but he doesn''t dictate what is said to his wife... That''s rough, so sorry.

Mara
Congrats again. Can''t wait to find out the name you picked and see more pictures.
It''s interesting that you find out that you had some expectations even though you went into labor open minded. I think in the end, we all make the choices that''s best for our babies.
Sounds like you had a smooth labor and delivery. Yay! But pushing for 2 hrs doesn''t sound fun. You are a trooper.
Baby boy looks just like he did in the 3D u/s you posted. Such a handsome little guy.

Everyone Else
Thanks for all the congrats. I''ll be going home tonight, so I''ll post the birth story then (our hospital doesn''t have wifi, and it''s too much to type on the iPhone). For now, the stats for Jaron - 6lbs 13oz and 20.5in. He is a skinny guy.

QT, congrats on the safe arrival of your little man!! I''ve never heard that name before -- it''s very cool.
36.gif

Mara, congrats again and thanks for posting your birth story! Even though it was some seriously tough work going through that, I love how your sense of humor comes through. Your son is absolutely adorable -- he looks wise beyond his years in that picture!

I have to do a drive by because today I''m dealing with one of the not-so-pleasant post-partum things: a migraine. I think there are really only two things that qualify as sucking really bad and those are the migraines some women get from the hormonal shifts and afterpains. I''ve had hormone-related migraines for 16 years, so I''m used to these, although it was *really* nice not to have them much during pregnancy. Luckily, I have a prescription rx that has been really effective for me and is ok to take while bf. I haven''t given in and taken it yet, but am going to when SO gets back.

Other than that, things are pretty great here. Ben is a really mellow baby and has been having a lot of periods where he''s wide awake but content just to look around. I''ve caught him watching tv several times already, lol. My other kids were much bigger than Ben, so it''s a new experience dealing with a teeny baby. I think he''s sooo precious because he''s so little!

I insisted that we get out briefly last night because I was going stir crazy. We took Ben and Will over to SO''s parents'' house and then to Target (woo hoo). SO''s mom was thrilled to get to hold Ben for a while, but gave us the third degree about whether we should have had him out already. Actually, she gave us the third degree about everything! I understand that she''s "old school" and protective, but she should have a little more faith in us.

Steph, in case you needed clothing for Evan, Target has one piece sleep and plays from the Just One Year line in newborn that fit 5.5-8 lbs. I got Ben 6 of them (I think) because they''re on sale here for $6 each. I''ve found that it''s REALLY hard to find clothing that will fit Ben!

Ginger, I bought one of those nursing tanks from Target last night. I''m sooo glad you pointed these out because I realized that even though I am fine with nursing in public, right now, I''m not ready at all to have my belly exposed. The tank solves that problem, plus is another layer of warmth when it''s freezing here!

The Medela Freestyle pump: I''ve started pumping because Ben is a somewhat lazy nurser, and so far, I''m loving it. The only other electric pump I can compare it to is the Ameda Purely Yours that I used for 8 months before. Note that I''m pumping one side while Ben is nursing on the other side, so I''m juggling a lot more than if I were just double pumping.

The Freestyle makes this so much easier because the unit is small and cordless (rechargeable battery). I just sit it on the side I''m pumping and don''t have to deal with the cord/tubing on the Ameda. The Freestyle horn/bottle combo seems to be much lighter than the Ameda one, and the soft plastic flange is more comfortable for me than the hard plastic of the Ameda.

I''m interested to see how well this pump does when I''m double pumping during the day at work. I hope it''ll be as efficient as the Ameda!

Mara- Sounds like a pretty good L&D overall. Strong work
9.gif
Can''t wait to hear what the little guy''s name will be... oh the suspense!

QT- Congrats on the birth of little Jaron! Can''t wait to hear more
36.gif

lulu, I'm sending good weather vibes your way!! I hope you're able to make it to your appointment. And for the record, I'm guessing team PINK!

Lulu- Sending warm dust your way! For some reason, I am really excited for your gender scan. And FWIW, I am still on Team PINK for you!!!

somethingshiny - i wouldn''t worry about your weight loss. i lost weight in my first trimester too. it happens.

Thanks, jcrow. I''m almost 17 weeks and down about 11-12 lbs. I''m not too worried. I''m overweight to begin with and I''m pretty sure the baby is growing. I''ve been feeling movement since about 13 weeks.

As some have suggested, my cousin''s DH (in this case D stands for DUMB) DOES need a swift kick in the pants. They don''t live near and he is actually screening her calls and emails! WTF??
29.gif
I''m pretty sure I''m not just super-hormonal but that he really should be pummeled in a parking lot by a large and scary looking man with a club and then forced into a dark closet where he has to pee in a bucket and only gets a pb&j once a day.

SS-Sorry, to hear about your cousin, that sux. Did she say why is her husband acting this way? I think that as long as you are there for your cousin she will feel better. I can''t believe that he is screening her calls!
38.gif

No one has actually talked to her, not even her own mother. He won''t let her get ANY calls!! He called to inform her mom that she had lost the baby and that she (the mom) wasn''t to call or contact her. I''m fairly certain that this is not her idea but something that he is forcing on her (based on his history). Now, I''m wondering if HE caused the MC...

SS,
Let''s hope not. Is anyone close by to them, that can stop by and check on things???

Kaleigh, they are about 3 hrs away. I think her mom has intentions of trying to get there on the weekend. I''m hoping he''ll be going to work in the next couple days and someone can text her or something. I know how difficult it is to go through and my heart is breaking for her with no one to talk to except the world''s biggest ass.

wtf are you serious? I really hope that he didn''t cause the MC. Instead of making her feel better he is probably making her feel even worse!

SS, seriously someone needs to check on her. BEFORE this weekend. PLEASE????

Kaleigh~ I think the best bet would be to contact her work and see if one of her colleagues could go and see her. (she''s an RN) It wouldn''t be a pleasant position to be put in, but definitely the quickest. One of her sisters is also trying to figure out how to get to her tomorrow. I am so frustrated I''m shaking.

SS- I just can''t believe the saga that your cousin is going through... what is seriously with her DH... yeah DUMB in this case!!! Was he completely controlling before the MC or is this a "new side of him"

Are you personally concerned for her... beyond the MC.. I mean.. could she be in danger?

KtIceRN-

I know you from back when I was having a bellerina pendant made and you had had a large one with a bail custom made. I have seen you post in other areas of Pricescope, but I had no idea you were expecting until I came here to congratulate Mara and ending up hanging around for a while! (I also didn''t know that swimmer, whom I know from Around The World, was expecting!)

I consider having a child a really major life event, but if one doesn''t visit this particular thread, one may not learn that important members of the Pricescope community became mothers! There should at least be a list of members who gave birth in Hangout! Maybe I will put that in the suggestion area that the administration has set up!

The best of luck to you in your upcoming labor and birth. Is this your first?

============

had my 39 week appt today. looks like it won''t be me up first with the next batch cuz my cervix is still residing somewhere in canada and is shut up as tight as a clam
20.gif
. though i can''t decide if it''s going to be mtj (with the slowly "opening door"
2.gif
) or burk (since it''s numero dos and things can happen like that *snaps finger*
1.gif
) who''s gonna be up first. any takers?

doc said he''s def head down because she can feel him and had to manuever around his head to get to my cervix. glad he''s at least in position right now, i was afraid he''d inherited hubby''s sense of direction
9.gif
down gingerbaby...the way out is down!!!

comfort-wise, today has def been on the downside. i think in the past few days my belly for some reason if sticking OUT a lot more. i have a long torso and have been carrying more up and down and sideways. now it''s pushing out and my skin feels like it''s going to split
14.gif
and it''s all sore. and tops that were fitting easily just a few days ago are stretched tighter. just feeling kind of blah today. sorry to be so whiny.

we talked a little bit about induction today. the plan is still an u/s next week to check on the amniotic fluid levels before we make any decision. thinking about choosing a date for induction made me realize i really don''t like the thought of choosing his birthday. it kind of bothers me for some odd reason. i don''t want the pressure of choosing a date. of all the things associated with induction, never thought that''d be what i would be bothered by. based on my admittedly controlling type nature, you''d think i''d like that, but i feel like i''d rather nature take this decision completely out of my hands. i think it may be the fact that it''s so close to valentine''s day which also happens to be the lunar new year, meaning a change in lunar signs. i KNOW my parents would be over the moon if i waited until after the new year so they can have their eldest grandson be a tiger, but honestly if i had a choice i''d choose the year of the oxen (before 2/14) which would be pushing it induction wise. and hubby''s work wise it''d be better if i waited until the 15th. which means i feel more pressure to wait. but then if i did have the "luxury" of choosing, i''d choose before the 14th. and then i think about what i''m thinking about and think HOW ILLOGICAL, does any of this REALLY matter?
40.gif

i think i''m having a down day. time for bed so i can start over, hopefully with a better attitude and mindset. i don''t like feeling this way.

Deb,

Best place to check out who is expecting and all that is in THIS thread.... No need for a thread in hangout.. You''ve made it here, know about it., soooo keep checking in...
2.gif
I know I am am forcing you to PS in a different way...But it''s for the best cause you miss out ...
And who knows how much longer I will be here...

ginger,

I send you all the best wishes I can. HUGS!!!

GingerB- Aww, girl! Don''t worry! I am sending a bunch of "opening door" dust your way and let nature take it''s course! I was shocked when Doc told me that I was 1 cm, I know it''s not a lot but at least the door is slightly ajar.
5.gif
It''s funny that you prefer your bebe to be an oxen becuz my mom doesn''t want her to be a tiger either. We are not Chinese but my mom has friends at work and they tell her to tell me to have her before the lunar year!
26.gif
and my mom follows the calendar alot!

Right now, I am feeling as if someone is pushing my tummy downward like pressure, it''s uncomfortable but it doesn''t hurt. Let''s see if this baby girl wants to pop out soon.
35.gif

All my family members ask me why I am still here and not at the hospital. My hubby told me that he can''t wait and wants to hold her daughter already!

Oh and he asked why I had dark circles under my eyes. He told me that I looked like Zorro.
