Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Kim, thanks for sharing your story. It sounds like things really got moving quickly once your water broke! It was nice that your hubby was so matter of fact about the pooping. My brother recorded the audio of his son''s birth and DH is editing it for him so he is now prepared for all of the yucky stuff. SIL had gas the entire labor and kept apologizing until she finally said "Is it okay if I don''t excuse myself every time I fart?" - we all laughed. The gas even made her laugh during contractions and pushing! It really lightened the mood.
3.gif
Speaking of, it was really neat that my brother and SIL decided to just record audio. I was there during the delivery and the audio really does take you back to that moment. The recorder was small and in his pocket the entire time so no one remembered it was on. We did capture the moment of my nephew''s delivery with video but everything up to that was strictly audio.

HH, loving that stroller! Yay for moving and shaking! And...you''re almost out of your first trimester!

DrK, I say you make plans to do something *really important*...that''s sure to get this baby going! Oh, and I love the belly progression shots. I have a friend who is pretty tall (about 5''10") and the belly is still flat as a board at 18 weeks. My kiddo had no where to go but out at about 14 weeks.

MP, you are SO close. I know you''re uncomfortable - that little guy is so low. Don''t stress about the baby''s weight. My nephew was 8 lbs but was out in just a few pushes! I think it''s all in the head and shoulder size. Let me tell, SIL was really worried since big heads run in my family!

Charger, good luck house hunting! We just celebrated one year in our house! House hunting really was fun and *interesting*.

JCrow, how was inspection? re: hiccups - when I was pregnant with DD, she had them ALL the time. It was really very weird until I knew what it was.

Vesper, you look fantastic! Big Mama? Silly DS! My SIL is a teacher and a kindergarten student asked her why she had a big "bubble" under her shirt!

PS - all of this leg swelling talk has got me nervous as I''ll be spending months 6-9 in 80-90 degree weather!

puppmom - the inspection went really well! we have only a few things to negotiate all of which the builder should be responsible for since it''s still under warranty.
36.gif
also, the sellers agreed to an earlier closing date than we put in the contract. so, if the banks are on time [CROSSING FINGERS] then we''ll be able to close at the end of march instead of the middle of april. i''m so ready to be in the house!

re: hiccups - yeh, i had know idea that''s what i was feeling. they come so often. probably every day. they''re so delicate and cute!

Thanks, ladies. I am hoping for a 6 or 7 pound baby anyway - I wanted the "newborn" size phase to last as long as possible, not to mention make labor easier, hah! I guess we will see. I think he may just be super long, because like SS I can often feel him touching two places at once.

I hope all of you are having a happy Monday morning, and drk - I think it might be time for some pineapple!

Kimi- Thank you for sharing your story!

Drk- I really hope you wake up to contractions this morning! *fingers crossed*

Charger- Massages are the best! Glad yours went well!

Jcrow- I had an email in my inox this morning from our builder and our tentative close date is 3/30!!!

Just popping in for a sec with a message...

Drk...Fisher asked Robbie who asked me to say hi and that she''s thinking of you! Hope you''re pregnancy is going well!

Hope ALL your pregnancies are going well!

So I went to the UB factory today fully intending to just look. $250 later I walked out with A '08/'09 Vista hybrid. It's an '09 frame and bassinet with an '08 seat. Apparently the only difference seat-wise from the '09 is the extended sun shade which you can buy for $22. We went with the red.

HH did you go to the uppababy factory in hingham? Do they have a lot of strollers for sale or just a few?

Allie, yes I did. They had probably 8, 4 of which were '10s and were on hold for people. The woman said it was kind of a crapshoot and they never know what they're going to have available. Oh, and it's not a retail set up. These are just strollers in a little side room that they take you to.

ETA: I would definitely call ahead to find out what they have in stock before you make the trip.

meresal - yay! we could be closing date twins!

So I went for my 12 week check today and everything looks great. I met with a midwife this time and it was odd. She had no personality what-so-ever and it felt like a first date in the way the conversation was stilted. My blood work all looks great, I''m negative for everything and I''m not a carrier for CF which is a huge relief because I have a first cousin with CF. The only negative is I''m RH negative so I''ll have to go through the Rhogan (sp?) protocol down the road. I also got to listed to the hb on the doppler. The little one was chugging along at 165-170 bpm. Oh, and I''m only up one lb from last month-YAY!

Wednesday I go in for my NT scan. I''m actually excited because I''ll get another ultrasound. LOL, priorities!

hudson_hawk - yay for a great appointment! crossing all those things off the list of concerns is a nice feeling, right?

HH, glad to hear your appt went well. Sounds like your midwife could use some lessons in the social skills department! It must have been so exciting to hear the heartbeat. Was DH there? I''m RH- too and had to do the Rhogam with DD. If I recall correctly, it''s one shot toward the end of pregnancy and then another when the baby is born IF he/she is +. My doc also said any sign of bleeding and they recommend I come in and get the Rhogam. I think the whole point is preventing you from being exposed to + blood which could affect your future pregnancies. Hopefully I''m not getting that totally wrong.

Pupp, thanks for chiming in. I know my mother had RH issues with me, but admittedly I''ve not taken the time to educate myself on what it all means other than the basics. That''s on my to do list this week. The CMW said there would be a shot around 28 weeks unless I presented with bleeding (none so far), and then another if the baby was positive.

Go DrK!

HH, you are amazing, glad the appt went fine...ya gotta love the first date feeling!

Thank you for sharing your story Kimberly!

This might be a weird question but - can anyone else actually SEE their baby breathing from the outside?! I can''t imagine what else it could be. I can''t feel the movement so it isn''t like a kick or hiccups, but I can feel his back pressed up against the skin of my belly on the left side (he''s been curled up completely on my left side for almost 24 hours now, he must like it over there), and just now when I looked at it I could see my skin rising and falling in time with his heartbeat in one little spot. If I put my hand on it I could barely feel it, but it was definitely there.

I''m sort of creeped out by this lol.

drmr, i''ll be there soon, i''m lost in this time with her and doing little else. the small head was to make up for all the scary stuff towards end of pregnancy. things were worse than i shared here, we are just so thankful she is healthy.

drk, funny after all that i had my bby before you. wishing you the best of luck.

jcrow awesome house news.

pupp, the smelll thing was funny, after the fact. i was embarrassed, it helped that hubby was so calm about it. he really has been amazing.

chrgr, it is truly oour priveledge to be her parents. love between us and for her mulitplied the day she was born and continues to do so.

Argh, still no change on the cervix front today. They estimated her at 7lb12oz (I''m hoping for more like 7lb), but everything still looks good fluid-wise and growth-wise. Had another stretch and sweep (a more aggressive one) to stir things up, and if there''s no action by next Monday when I''m 41w3d, I''ll be stuck with a pitocin induction. Here''s hoping this stirred up enough prostaglandins to get some action happening in there. If I don''t get induced till next Monday evening, the baby''s pretty much guaranteed to be born on her birthday.

Mum is now here - the pack n play she brought up is actually really nice, browns and greens which actually go well with the decor in the living room and our bedroom. Hopefully things will stay low-key and low-stress till the baby arrives. Maybe if DH goes out to rent the steam cleaner to get the basement carpet done, I''ll have more of a chance of going into labour?

Sabine - thanks for passing things along from Fisher. Is she taking a break from the boards these days? Hope she''s on this thread very soon herself.

wow drk!!! amazing you are hanging in hehee. i am hoping for labor soon for you.

mp...re: the 8lber, its not so bad!!! J was 8lb 2oz and honestly i did not have a bad time with delivering him at all. sure the pushing took a while but his giant head could not clear my bone so that is why it took so long. and actually since his head didn''t just ''pop'' out, apparently that is why i hardly tore at all, just a tiny tear. i was hoping i''d have a 7lber too but actually 8lb is still REALLY SMALL!!! J is just now graduating out of newborn diapers and he is still wearing 1/2 of the newborn clothes and he is just about 6 weeks.

Logged on to check in on DrK, hope you are doing well! Fisher is taking a PS break for Lent, which she informed me yesterday when I asked, is over at Easter
1.gif
So we have to get through a few more weeks without her, but she is thinking of everyone and asks after you all, just trying to focus less on the fertility thing.

My friend''s baby''s heart is still pumping at 22 weeks, so they are in week 5 of waiting for her to pass away from major congenital issues. Sometimes you don''t know how strong a person is till the hardest things happen.

Hello Ladies :) I guess I will dip my toes in an officially join you over on this thread! I got my BFP on February 11th :) and am currently just a few days past 7 weeks pregnant with my first. We had a doctors appointment last Friday, got to see the sack, the baby and the little flicker of a heart beat (135BPM) I am looking forward to being with you ladies for the duration of the pregnancy months!!!!

Hey Hudson...I actually am a carrier for CF and was SHOCKED when I found out but the doctor told me that it is very common in people of Jewish Eastern European decent. My sister is a carrier as well (my nephews are carriers too). So glad you didn''t have to go through the headache of having to get you husband checked as well. I had to do that and luckily he was NOT a carrier so we don''t really have much to worry about besides the carrier gene being passed on. We still have to go in for genetic counseling. I am ALSO Rh- the only one in the family
7.gif
with AB- blood. The doctor explained to me that any time during the pregnancy if I were to bleed since they could not really check if it was coming from me or the baby they would give the Rhogam shot. Then the one at 28 weeks and then after birth if necessary. So far no bleeding (knock on wood)

I am so glad you got the Uppa! I am not in Massachusetts that often but we go there to visit family 4-5 times per year. I will have to call. I am also shooting 2 weddings in Massachusetts this summer so that might be the perfect opportunity to pick one up. How were the prices? Obviously you got a killer deal but the 2010''s were they regular price?

Really? That''s so interesting. I was under the impression that CF was a Western European thing primarily. My cousin is 36 and going strong after partial lung and kidney transplants, at diagnosis the docs didn''t expect her to live past 15 so it''s really a miracle and we know CF, while tragic, is not the death sentence it once was.

The prices at UB ranged from $250-$450 and none of the strollers came with the bassinet, but that was only $50 extra, so no big deal. You can buy the other accessories like the infant carrier attachment there if they have them in stock, or there''s an UB retailer 5 miles down the road in Hingham.

Morning ladies!

Kimi thanks for sharing your birth story. I love reading how different they all are, and I appreciate the honesty
3.gif
Glad to hear how wonderful your husband has been, it''s great to have that kind of support.

Jcrow congrats on the house. I can''t believe how many of us are moving home right around the babies arrival.

HH great deal on the stroller! And happy to hear your appointment went well.

DRK hope things get moving for you and your little one will be here soon. I can''t believe either that you are not overdue, after dealing with possible preterm labour. I guess the babies really do what they want, don''t they?

Allieluv welcome! Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy.

As for me, I''m feeling super stressed out right now. I''m not sure how all you ladies who are also dealing with pregnancy and moving house seem to be so calm about everything. I was making lists yesterday of what I need to do before the move, once we move in, one for the baby, and then just my general to do list, and I felt like crying when I was done. I know realistically that if everything doesn''t get done it''s not the end of the world and you just make do, but I really *want* to get everything done and feel ready and organized, and I''m not sure how that is going to happen.
32.gif
I have been speaking to the baby, and telling him that he is not allowed to come out before May 1, so at least we will be settled in the new house. Not that he''ll listen...

PrettyBlues - when are you moving in and when is your due date again? i''m having trouble keeping track! we''re hopefully closing march 30 or 31 and i''m due may 1. ridiculously bad timing, but well, we''ll be in a house at least. i hope we can be all unpacked and organized before the baby''s arrival.

I am from Russia and of the Ashkenazi Jewish descent. I think when I googled it they said Eastern European, so it would make sense for me although Russia is not really Eastern Europe! I might be wrong!

I guess we''re both correct, I just googled and the rate of CF occurence in Ashkenazi Jews and Caucasians is the same-4.3%

Jcrow, it's about the same timing you have. We take possession on April 15, and I am due May 12. However, we still have our apartment until the end of April, so we actually plan to stay here until then so we can get the floors refinished, paint all the rooms, and fix some stuff in the kitchen before we are in with all of our stuff. So we will only be fully moved in about two weeks before my due date. Thank goodness we have a lot of friends and family to help us, because I don't think I will be in too much of a position to help at that point!

Welcome Allie!!!

sounds like us. we have our current place until may. and we''ve got two secondary bedrooms to paint before moving in. we were going to put down wood floors in the living room, but i think we''re holding off on that. hub''s family is helping us move. thank goodness. i''m so worried about going early though. my sister in law went two weeks early as did my bf with all of her children. eeks.

Very interesting!!! My doctor made it seem like this is totally an Ashkenazi Jewish thing! I also got the Ashkenazi Jewish Blood panel which also tested for Tay Sachs, although I haven't gotten those results back.

Thank you for all the warm welcomes ladies!

I am getting my first trimester screening (NT) done on April 16th. I should be just about 12 weeks at that point. I am wondering how many of you ladies got this screening done. My DH are of the mindset that we would rather know than not know.
