Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Jas, that''s true - I think the only reason I''m so bugged about going past my "due" date is that I am so incredibly uncomfortable. If I didn''t have pain/could function normally I would carry him as long as he wanted to stay in! But no dice.

I''ve gotten lucky in that I haven''t ever had to get up to pee at night. I don''t know why, either, because I drink water in excess. When I first wake up in the morning I do have to go, but otherwise I can just stay in bed.

MP- I can't believe you are still posting! Are you bouncing on an exercise ball yet? Or a trampoline?

MP--oh i know, it''s sooo terribly uncomfortable, esp with all the false starts. i am not denying that, i just mean mentally sometimes it helps to know it''s not abnormal or bad or anything. Helped me deal with the constant emails, msgs, remarks etc. (but not much, i was still an anxious, uncomfortable mess). And advice like "enjoy the ''you'' time now, sleep while you can etc. etc. " didn''t help. I just wanted the baby o.u.t. True. it''s trading one discomfort for another, but by 40 weeks you are ready for a baby!

Jena--i think you can get pretty accurate gender predictions by that time, but i''d just wait if it were me due to greater accuracy and cost. Then again, i''d just wait till the 18 week scan anyway so i wouldn''t have to pay anything at all

Oh no jcrow! But hey, you went this long without having to pee at night.
THANKS for the lindor chocolate rec- I was excited to read about that! Will have to go check it out.

ss- I''m also trying to limit my water intake once i get home, but I''m ALWAYS thirsty (GD symptom)

MP- lucky gal about not having to get up in the middle of the night. at least Micah gave you a break there!

We have our birthing class tonite (3rd week already!). Time is flying

Hey Jas- are you still not finding out the gender until baby is here? I think we''re the only holdouts at this point!

Jena, it depends if they get a good view and how skilled they are at interpretation. I think I''d 90% trust a 15 week ultrasound, depending on how clear a shot they get of the money region!

Swimmer and pandora, thanks for the rec. So instead of shopping for baby sleeping appliances I should be shopping for adult ones? I think I have a sentimental attachment to this bed - it was purchased with my first post-college paycheck almost a decade ago. Hubs (then-bf) and I had survived our first summer together sleeping on an extralong twin (how, I have no idea, we are not small people) living on his grad student stipend and my meager savings. When I finally got paid in Sept, I arranged to buy this mattress at like half off from some discount chain. The sales clerk ''R'' was going to give me some special deal, but only if I bought the mattress directly from him by check. Sounds a little sketchy right? Well, I couldn''t find anything nicer for the price, finally show up to buy it, and R has fled or been arrested or something, and there is a guy from corporate trying to deal with all these irate people asking for R and only R as they have been promised beds for half off. R had been somehow personally cashing the checks, and then delivering mattresses out of the company stock. Brilliant, eh! Anyway, turns out if you were young and female and flirted with the corporate guy a bit, he too would give you the mattress half off just to make the R-generated problems go away! Ah... youthful adventures. Anyway, my sentimental attachment is not worth poor sleep. I guess my impression of the mattress industry is one of crooks and smoke and mirrors and ridiculous markups. Plus I am not a little unafraid of picking something in the store only to bring it home and not sleep well on it. Oh well, time for risk taking!

I was already comtemplating getting nicer furniture for the nursery than we have our room, maybe we should just upgrade everything while we are at it!
11.gif
Yeah, last night hubby did nothing wrong, his beeper was far away, I was sleeping on the shallower hill-side of the bed (just a gentle slope) and I still got up in the middle of the night to sleep in the guest bed. More room and I could do what I wanted with the covers, etc. I did grovel extensively for my behavior the other night, and was forgiven though hubs was definitely rubbing it in. What a burden putting up with a pregnant wife is on a man! He did also seem to hint at us getting some new furniture so maybe pregobi$chfest is what he needs to loosen the pursestrings.

Jena- funny you should as because DH and I just had one this past weekend! I was just shy of 17wks (16W6D) and it was done at an ultrasound place (not my OB''s office). The ultrasound place recommended I wait until 17 wks to come in for a gender scan because that is when they can really tell depending on the baby''s position. Even at 17 wks, the sonographer used the words "most likely" when telling us the gender- but didnt give us any guarentees. We have a 20 wk apt at our OBGYN which is when the baby''s gender will be confirmed.

Every place is different, but I would recommend just waiting until 17 wks to have a gender scan so you could get a more definite answer and you would also be able to get better facial images.

Oh yes! I hate the "enjoy the you time" comments - I''ve known about this baby for ten months, people, I have been enjoying my ME time, and now I want BABY TIME! Hah. I know they are well-meaning, but it''s getting to me. The only one I can tolerate at this point is my mom, and that''s probably only because she calls me rather than hovering around me like my co-workers do.

mere, I am borrowing a bouncy ball from a friend tonight. I didn''t want to spend the money on one when I knew it would just go into storage after a few weeks, but at this point I am willing to try anything!

And woo, I am so tired of being hot. I am ROASTING and everyone else in my office is complaining that it''s cold. And I really need a haircut before this baby arrives so I am going to do my best to stop for one after work today. Maybe that will help the overheating!

Could still use dust...

Baby''s heart rate is down from in the 140''s to 108 today. She''s still moving normally but they didn''t check her growth. We''ll check for improvement and consistent growth and movement again next week.

Author: So Excited

I hear alot about the belly band and am considering it as well, but does anyone have any experience with the Shrinkx Hips? I needed the shrinkage BEFORE the baby, and definately want them to go back to Pre-prego
That is what I am getting. I am more focused on my hips than my waist... so this one seemed more like what I would like.

Just wanted to pop in and let you know that I bought the Belly Bandit and I would not recommend it- save your $40. It is incredibly bulky and awkward to wear and the velcro constantly is coming undone. I did wear it around the house, but you would definitely see it under clothes (and my baby was born in november, so I am talking you could see it under sweaters), so I never left the house in it. It also would have been ridiculously uncomfortable to sleep in, and with a newborn you are going to want the sleep you get to be as comfortable as possible. Also, for those of you expecting spring babies - it is HOT! I was sweating like crazy in it and that was in Dec-Jan in the Northeast.

Thank You, I will try to hold out until 17 weeks! I know that is best, but when they give you the option it''s hard not to try at 15 weeks! We will be happy with just a healthy baby no matter what!

somethingshiny, I am really sorry you are going through this, I hope everything turns out ok for you. Think positive!

Oh my SS, I''m so sorry you are going through this. Did the docs give any indication of what they expect or what this means? What a long week this will be for you... you and your LO will be in my thoughts.

mp- anything that might help is a *go* at this point! good luck! Maybe Micah is jsut waiting for you to get your hair cut to come out

ss- I am so sorry to hear about your lo''s heartbeat. I hope that things look better next week, but definitely a good thing that she is still moving around well.

november- The Shrinkx just goes around your hips, and not up around your mid section. Do you think that would be less uncomfortable than the belly bandit?

Jena- i know the suspense made every day feel like a week!

SS- you and your LO are in my thoughts and prayers

Lots of dust to your little one.
You and your little one will be in my thoughts.

Ladies, do any of you have stretching suggestions for RLP? I think that''s what I''m experiencing. I''m feeling a tightness-like a rubber band stretching-from my bikini region across the groin/hip to my thigh. It''s pretty uncomfortable and almost feels like it could go into a charlie horse at any moment. I''d really like to avoid a charlie horse in my groin if at all possible. Also, stretches for the lower back? My sacral area is killing me today.

SS, I''m so sorry

I will be thinking of your LO - maybe she was just feeling a little lazy today. If she''s still moving well then that is a good sign.

HH, I would sit on the floor, put the bottom of my feet together and pull them in towards my body (kind of like the lotus position), then lean my head toward my feet. That always seemed to help, until I got too big, but it never made them go away.

just popping in to say that I''m thinking of you and your baby something. and sending heaps of dust!!!

Thank you all for your support. I''m trying to stay positive, clinging to the fact that she''s a tumbler. The doc hasn''t given any indication about what to expect at this point. The peri I went to last week said he expected her to grow out of it and that he thought we''d see improvement in the heart function and good growth and movement at the next US (next week.) My appt today was at my normal OB. He''s still very concerned. A week is a long time to wait to look for improvement again. The arrhythmia initially sounded like 2 regular beats and then a kind of half beat. Today it sounded like 2 regular beats and then nothing, 2 regular beats and then nothing. Doc said it''s the electrical part of the heart trying to "refire" to avoid the arrhythmia.

Sorry, I don''t have much to add for any of you right now. I''m just stressed.

Ah, so the low heartrate is a function of the arrhythmia. Beat beat skip beat beat skip... Well, I am so sorry you are going through this and wish the best for you and your LO. Hoping that next week there is improvement and the docs have a better understanding or prognosis for you.

HH, I don''t have any advice but I am there with you! RLP especially when coughing/sneezing and low back pain. Trying to be kind to everything and not strain something.

somethingshiny - so sorry to hear about all that is happening. you and your little one are in my thoughts - sending tons of dust your way.

Ouch- sorry to hear, HH!
I was (and am) all about child's pose and cat/cow stretch. I keep a towel in my office and do them when I'm feeling extra tense/achy:

Funny read of the day

Haha have you gotten to the strawberries yet? I used to read that thing every day until she stopped updating it

Hello!
Appt. was all normal today (besides measuring a little bit larger than I actually should based on time/due date...
emsmilep.gif
) The scale proved to be dreadful with a 4lb gain... Yuck! Oh well, Doc keeps saying "your fine.. it will almost all come off by 6 weeks postpardum...even if you gain 1 lb a week till delivery" (I''m not convinced.. I remember putting on 75% of my pregnancy weight in the last 3 weeks in pregnancy #1) Okay... done on the soapbox..

SS- Lots of love and support to you and your LO... *HUGS*

MP- MORE Dust !!!

HH- Time for a Nice massage - and all good therapists will stretch you after the massage if you request them to and then you will know what works best for the relief.

Jas- I actually laughed when I read you shopping cart response.... I swear - all the stores around here think its pretty cool to have the spring action little flaps that you speak of that automatically fold... Its like a magic act with holding the flap down and dangling my DD and forcing her big feet into the little square openings!! I actually make it a point to go to the grocery store now that has the carts with the little cars and steering wheel for the kids to sit in so I don''t have to lift her anymore.. haha..

Charger- I don''t know how you and Jas can stand the suspense... I am WAY to much of a planner to keep my sanity through not knowing the sex of the LO. I am obsessed with being "ready",,,, but really.... being ready has Nothing to do with knowing the sex.. . - A+ for you..

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all of the sticky dust and well wishes, but I guess my little guy had his own ideas. I went into labour at 2AM on friday, and at 6:28AM Miles Henry was born.

He weighed only 4.9 lbs, but is doing well, though he is currently still in the intensive care nursery. He has had trouble breathing a few times, which can happen with preemies, and he developed jaundice, but overall he is happy and healthy, we just need to get some weight on him. I am trying to breastfeed, so we are on an exhausting schedule of hospital to breastfeed, home to pump, then do whatever we need to do, rinse and repeat - on a three hour schedule. Last night we finally let them take over the 2 and 5 am feedings, so I only had to get up to pump, but otherwise was able to finally get some sleep in.

We don''t know when he will be able to come home, but hopefully it will be next week.

Either way, we love him to pieces and all the trouble is more than worth it.

Sorry I have no idea what is going on with anyone else, but I hope everyone is doing well.

Here is my little guy
