I did like pushing. I was good at it apparently, and it gave me something to focus on and think about after all that time just struggling through. Like everything else in labour, if you are making no progress it is NO FUN. But when you have a good cheering squad and you know it is working, it felt powerful and productive to me.Date: 4/9/2010 5:31:08 PM

Dreamer, you loved pushing!? LOL! Okay, seriously, I guess compared to transition phase (mine lasted 2 hours), pushing was okay for 1.5 hours. But after 4.5 hours of pushing, I was pooped, and so FRUSTRATED!Date: 4/9/2010 5:17:02 PM

Active labour Is when you lie down for an exam and barf from the pain
I agree about the time having no meaning thing, mara. It is strange what the labour hormones do to you. I pushed for 1.5 hours and it was very fast. I loved pushing.
I think of active labor as when your contractions are longer, stronger, and closer together - less than 5 mins apart, lasting about a min or longer, require your attention to get through it, and you''re dilating. I went to 4cm and wasn''t in active labor yet. I wasn''t in active labor until 4.5cm or so when I was finally admitted.
Luckily, I had my 12 week OB appt. the day before so, we got to see our babies two days in a row. Doc said everything look perfect! They are 12w4d today and measuring right on track. They also had beautiful heartbeats - one was 159 and the other was 161.
As for my scan, I''m so glad we did it! Granted we are still waiting for the results, but just for the chance to see them in such detail was worth it for us!! Too bad I had the worst migraine yesterday. I was in such pain during the entire scan - my head was throbbing and was so nauseas!! At the end, I went to the bathroom to empty my bladder and thew-up at the hospital! Things just went south from there as I continued to throw-up for the rest of the day.Thankfully, I took off from work and am fortunately feeling better today.
Swimmer just popping in to say hello and so glad to see you are almost ready to meet your son!Date: 4/9/2010 12:51:51 PM

I''m 36 weeks and boy remains in the 98th percentile for height/length based on femur length. I''m now fine that I couldn''t feel him for the first 5+ months (anterior placenta) since he is now able to simultaneously stick an elbow out of one side and a foot out another. So weird to SEE him.

Ok... I''m definitely having contractions... I need advice.
How do you know when they have gone from BH contrax to early labor contrax? Do you just ''know''?
I always said I would wait until I was in pain to call or go to the hospital, but now that I am in this position and so late in the pregnancy, I wish I had more knowledge.
Guess I''ll start on that ole'' hospital bag.
Labor contractions are much harder than BH contractions. More intense. How close are they, have you timed them? Get the bag together, but if I were you labor as much as home as you can... And yes call your doc. Good luck!!!!Date: 4/11/2010 10:04:06 PM

Congratulations on picking a name J! I LOVE the name Emily!
I have had another busy weekend. We got a whole bunch of stuff hung around the house... and DH and I went to World Market this morning and picked up a whole patio set that looks great! I can now sit outside with the little one after he arrives and enjoy the awesome weather we are having.
On a pregnancy note... I just, as of about 10 minutes ago, started having these horrible pains in my lower abdomen. Did anyone experience these late in their pregnancy?
