Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

TGIF preggos! I''m swamped at work, but wanted to pop in for a quick hello
35.gif

A HUGE congrats to HH on team blue- I knew it!!

Loving the belly pics- you all look fabulous. I don''t have a 31-week pic to share, but do have a house pic because.... WE GOT THE HOUSE I wrote about in my vent post a couple of weeks ago. It''s a short sale, so we didn''t have our hopes up (too much), but the bank/negotiator gave our agent the news yesterday. Anyway, we''re now working on locking in a mortgage rate and all the fun stuff that comes with next steps. If all goes well, we close on May 25th- a month before I''m due.

Anyway, here''s what the rear of the house looks like- I''m not totally comfortable with sharing the front.

Congrats CG on your new house. It looks great, and just in time for ChargerBaby.

Love all the belly pics. I miss my bump, especially since it's replaced by a flabby stomach.

THANKS, QT!

And one more pic. The view from the backyard, which totally sold us on the house!

great pictures ladies. I *need* to break out my camera. I think that I've missed a bunch of weeks now, but at least there will be some appreciable change when I finally do snap a shot.

charger - your house is gorgeous. charger babe will certainly be lucky to be brought home to that place!!! congratulations!!

mini update:

I've had my first feelings of "can this kid possibly fall out" this past week. I never, ever could understand what mom's-to-be were talking and now I'm sort of like

Per Puppmom''s request, here is my 41 week belly pic - this will DEFINITELY be my last one!

Cute belly pics everyone - you''re all so tiny!

Meresal, I''m so glad to hear that you''re all doing well!

Puppmom, don''t let that type of stuff get to you - grandparents just love going crazy over the baby stuff as much as we do.

Charger, congrats on the gorgeous new house!!!

Shiny, my best friend gets all of her preggo clothes on eBay - she says that she gets better quality stuff than Motherhood for less $. I am pretty much a Motherhood devotee because there''s one right by my house and they''re cheap, but you may want to check out eBay as well ... Old Navy has some great sales too.

Blushing, we''re not doing the amnio at this point and you are not missing anything. I was just asking the doctor for general information about the various screening/diagnostic options sometime in the first tri. If the amnio-related loss odds were firmly 1:1000 or better and it didn''t cost $1000+ out of pocket, we''d consider it for the peace of mind factor. It does give definitive results over the screening tests which just give odds. But unless we get some enhanced risk (which we aren''t hoping for) it is booku bucks AND there is some valid lit support for the 1:200 odds. There is a big study out there showing a much better rate (1:1600), which is why I was put off by my doc''s more depressing number, but the control group in that study wasn''t randomized. Randomized amnio trials out there that show the added risk from just the amnio is 1:200-ish with average clinicians, though extremely skilled clinicians can do much better than that. The other thing that hubs reminded me of (not sure exactly why this particular tidbit made me feel ''better'' but at least it kept me from worrying too much about the amnio decision in particular) is that there are *lots* of other serious conditions out there that are not detected my amnio or any of the screening tests. And we''ll be rolling the dice on those too! Babymaking, not such a foolproof process... Cross-fingers and hope for the best!

So Excited, supercute bump there!

Charger, that''s not a bump! But it is an awesome backyard view. I might be a touch jealous!

Vesper, that is a bump! Well, enjoy it - this is probably your last pregnancy right? You look both very-pregnant and great. My friend who is about 7 months along is actually sporting a bump like that, and is getting supremely annoyed at all the people that tell her she must be due any day now.

OK, off I go to try and sneak a pic in the washroom mirror. Maybe, maybe I''ll join in this BPF.

Vesper~ I know the ginormous bump can get a bit unruly but you look soo cute! You''re all belly! Thanks for the ebay tip!

Thanks Cara & Shiny, you guys are so sweet. This will indeed be my last pregnancy (if all goes according to plan) so I am just trying to take it day by day.

Regarding the highlighted bit, my best friend is pregnant right now too, but she is 20 weeks behind me. Her body just naturally gains more weight than mine in the belly when pregnant, and she carries MUCH bigger babies than me (my first was 6 lb 14 oz, hers was 10 lb 12 oz!), so she has the same problem as your friend - people assume that she''s further along than she is, and by the time she hits 7 months, everyone is asking her when her twins are due
20.gif

We were out to lunch together a couple of weeks ago, and the waitress asked us when our babies were due - I responded, "Friday," and my friend said, "September." The waitress blushed and said, "oh, I thought you guys were due around the same time!"

It reminds me of that movie, Away We Go, where the actress is 6 months pregnant but everyone thinks she''s going to have the baby any day!

I just wanted to come on here to vent that babycenter.com is mocking me.

Yesterday, instead of the "You''re 41 weeks pregnant!" email update I was expecting, the update I got was titled, "Your newborn is 1 week old!"

No he isn''t, babycenter.
38.gif

And just to make my life a little easier during this difficult time, my poor little Andrew came down with a fever last night.
15.gif
DH is at the pediatrician with him right now - this morning he had a fever, sore throat, and said that his ear hurts. He has only taken antibiotics once in his life, so I told DH that he better come home with a prescription - none of this "we don''t give out antibiotics" nonsense. The last thing that I need is to either get sick right before I go into labor, or for him to still be fighting something when I come home with the new baby. He hasn''t been sick since January, but now this.

Thank God my inlaws are here to help with him when we go to the hospital ... all of my friends offered to take him instead, but they all have small kids, so I could not drop him off with them since he''s sick now ...

Damn you BabyCenter!!!

hang in there Vesper, you are almost there!!!

finally getting a chance to post the birth story...

The Birth Story
Right before I was induced, I asked mrjcrow to take notes of the birth. These are his words. [Although edited for ps]

April 6, 2010

1:30 pm - Routine appointment. Ultrasound at the ob found that baby still healthy and had gone from top 60% in weight to 40% which is good for the gestational diabetes. They said she weighed 4 lbs. 13 oz.

2:00 pm - Meet with OB and jcrow was 2 cm dilated and 60% effaced. jcrow had high protein in her urine [+3]. This combined with an 8 lb. weight gain in a week, her swelling and slightly elevated blood pressure, was cause for preeclampsia concern. So, she had us go run tests in the labor and delivery section at the hospital.

2:45 pm - Took another urine sample + blood work. Blood pressure was high and protein was still elevated at +2. The results of the blood work would determine whether or not she would need to stay overnight for the 24 hour urine test or if she could go home to take it.

3:55 pm - OB called and said that her blood work indicated we needed to deliver!!!

5:00 pm - Moved to delivery room and began IV - magnesium [for bringing down her blood pressure], pitocin [to bring on the labor], an antibiotic [since the results weren't in for the Strep B test she just took] and fluids.

6:45 pm - Contractions are becoming stronger and jcrow is experiencing a lot of pressure. The catheter seems to only catch 80% of what it is suppose to and it hurts her more than I'd like to say when they try to adjust it.

7:30 pm - Friends and family are checking in and jcrow is having an epidural to help with he catheter pain and to help keep her calm during the dilation and effacement.

8:15 pm - Epidural is in and jcrow is starting to calm down. The pain of the needle was less than she was expecting, but her mind does not let her calm down during the process. Everyone at the hospital is being very nice and careful with her.

9:15 pm - Water broken. Still only about 3 cm dilated.

11:30 pm - Most everything has been quiet for about an hour or so, then after trying to sleep and getting a little nausea and sleeping medicine, jcrow began to have stronger contractions.

April 7, 2010

12:00 am - jcrow was 9 cm dilated and 100% effaced so the nurses called the OB and started prepping for delivery! She went from 3-9 cm in under 3 hours. jcrow was ready to start pushing but tried to get her to wait. Soon enough she had them convinced and she was able to start pushing. Contractions were about every 2 minutes and jcrow was able to relax between pushes due to the sleeping medicine. I think this helped her be able to conserve her energy to do a better job pushing.

1:46 am - After some great pushing and a lot of determination, we have a new baby girl!! 6 lbs. 8 oz., 19.5 inches long, dark brown hair

- Since she was early, baby went straight to the nursery while jcrow began to get patched up and start her recovery. All the nurses said what a great job jcrow did.

- Our little girl was facing the right way, but she wanted her hand to come out after her head. The OB was able to work the arm loose and the baby girl came out. jcrow had some very minor tearing.

2:00 am - Due to the magnesium drip for jcrow, our baby girl was having a little trouble realizing she was in the real world. The nurses were keeping a close eye on her to make sure her conditions were/are improving.

3:00 am - jcrow is sleeping and baby seems stable.

5:45 am - Baby's first feeding. Nursery brought our little girl in and we began the process of trying to breastfeed.

6:00 - 8:15 am - Quiet time. Everyone is catching up on sleep. All seems well.

Drk, I think that we may be in for similar situations - I have an induction scheduled for Wed. when I''ll be 41w5d, and I''m going in for a non-stress test tomorrow and I''m going to ask them to strip the membranes for the THIRD time. I REALLY am hoping to avoid Pitocin this time around, but I know that I can''t go past Wed.

I feel like everyone else has their babies before they hit their due date - but mine is camping out forever!

Yay JCrow and JCrow''s DH!

Vesper, you still here girl...good luck with the stripping tomorrow, you look great! A well cooked baby is a happy baby!

Sooo, how can you tell the diff b/w BH contrax and just that general feeling that all of your organs are going to fall out a previously undiscovered trap-door? Everywhere online and in the books describes BH differently.

I know nothing about what labor is compared to BH, but just in case this is IT, go Swimmer, Go!!!
