Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

I guess it's about time I posted here!!! Hi everyone
35.gif
!! I'm 14w1d, and not 'barely preggo' anymore!! It'll be our first. EDD is 12/19, and so far, the pregnancy hasn't been too bad. Tons of exhaustion, but I think it's letting up finally. I haven't had any nausea at all, minus the headache induced vomit last week
14.gif
. I had bad headaches all last week, but haven't had one since Thursday, and I hope they're gone for good.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all!!

Swimmer, SoExcited, Charger & lulu... congrats on your recent births!! All your babes are beauties!!!

So excited--- You look SO great!

Turtle--aww, you have a great bump!!

lulu--can you believe Nora fit in your belly? So neat to see them on the 'outside' in the days following birth. It's like, how did you fit in there??!! Love the moby pic, she is precious

Laila--yay! welcome! Just a bit of a bump --super cute

ETA--um, i realize i look like an alcoholic based on my 41 weeks pic---holy booze on display! Ha. We are moving and stuff is everywhere!

Jas-Jeeze lady, uncross your legs and evict that kid already!

Sorry to hear about the CF question. My first cousin has CF, was diagnosed in the late 70s when the life expectancy was about 14 years. She''s 36 now and is healthy, active and successful. It''s definitely NOT a death sentence!

I''m sure everything will check out, but if not, there are a few of us around who have experience with CF via family members so please let us know if you have questions or need a little extra support.

Ok, me-centric post now.

I''ll be 27 weeks tomorrow-wow can''t believe it! I have my next OB appointment on Thursday, and it''s going to be a LONG one. First I have my 1 hour glucose screen, then I have an u/s to check my cervix, then I get my first Rhogam shot, and then I get to have my regular check up. It''s going to be an all morning event I think...But at least I''ll get to see Aidan during the u/s! Our tech does a dildocam and a standard external to do the scan. Last time she spent about 10 minutes checking him out. I can only imagine what he''s going to be doing after all of that sugar!

So do any of you have experience with kidney stones? I''ve been having this weird back pain for about a week now. Very localized on one side of my back and it comes and goes whether I''m sitting, standing or laying down. Tylenol manages the paint but while it feels like it''s a knot that needs to be massaged, when you massage the area you can''t get to the pain. I was talking to SIL this weekend and this is similar to what she feels when she''s developing a stone, but I know everyone is different...

Turtledazzle, you look fantastic!

SS, DH and I just had that conversation this weekend. I'm 33 weeks and he wants to pack the bag asap but I NEED all of that stuff until I deliver. DHs solution was to buy dups of cheap stuff like toothbrush etc. HIS bag is already packed.
20.gif

Jas, you DO NOT look like a woman who's due date has long passed! You can totally tell you took a lot of care to stay in shape throughout the pregnancy (unlike me
12.gif
). I went with the whole "I'll figure out how to lose the weight when the baby comes." plan. At 33 weeks and up 35 pounds, I'm second guessing myself a smidge.
9.gif
More importantly than how hot you look, I hope that you get the reassurance you need when your little one arrives. Gosh, this has been a stressful 3rd trimester for you!

HH, bring on the 3rd trimester! What a busy appt! It'll be better than having to go to the doc several times though. I would have to make 3 separate trips for all of that stuff. Hopefully, you get some pics!

Laila, you look great! I can definitely see a little belly there.

Not a whole lot new with me. We had a decent weekend. Yesterday was busy because of Father's Day...out to breakfast for my dad then dinner with the ILs. I was not feeling so hot by the end of the day. We got to the ILs around 3pm and they met us outside as they were doing some yard work. MIL proudly says that she knew I would probably be uncomfortable so they turned the air temp down REALLY LOW. So, I open the back door and it was stifling hot inside! I thought maybe it was because the oven was on or because I had just come in from outside. A few minutes later, DD was complaining she was hot so DH checked the thermostat - it was at 80!!!! What the freak? The ILs just got central air a few months ago and I'm not sure they know how to use it. My shower is there this weekend and I'm trying to figure out how I can gently tell her 80 is WAY too hot for most people and that she'll need to turn it down the day before. I would just sneak in and turn it down the day of but I think that'll be too late. Perhaps I can assign this duty to DH.

ETA - Welcome, Lynnie!

Hi! Not sure if any of you are Isabella Oliver fans?

The website is having a flash sale and it''s 51% off everything today.

36.gif

Thank you very much Pupp, Turtle, Laila, Jas, and Lynnie. I suppose I''ll have to convert over to the NB threads soon, but I did want to comment on a few products...

Shrinkx Hips- Good theory if you are not a "curvy" girl.... I wear it when I can which is when I''m gonna be up on my feet. If you have a curvy figure... AKA Large Ass... it slips up and ends up turning into a loose belt and not a hip squeeze... Not to mention the front "rolls" and ends up covering half the space it should. It doesn''t matter what type of pants I wear or if I wear it under my pants, it slips up and doesn''t stay in place...

Itzbeen Timer- AWESOME!! definately recommend this little timer!! it is absolutely great to have (especially if you have more than one child to consume your energy and time tracking) This is my new shower gift to give! A+ Product!

Breast Pumps- I have a Medela Pump in Style Advanced from our first child and absolutely loved it.. I planned to solely breastfeed this LO just as I did our first and that didn''t end up going so well... He wants to eat ALL the time and my supply (and nipples) couldn''t keep up with him nursing for 40 minutes to empty both sides, then ready to eat again 45 minutes later. Ever since 2 weeks old I have switched to pumping every 2 hours and bottlefeeding. This is working very well for both of us soooooo... I would definately recommend having a breastpump pre-delivery at home waiting cuz the last thing you want to have to do is go out shopping for one that you will like when you have a NB with you...

Nipple Cream- I like the Lansinoh pure lanolin for in the shower (It''s good to lather them if they start to crack before showering to prevent them from getting worse), but for after every feeding I liked the Lanolin free Nipple Butter made by "The First Years" - It''s not sticky like the lanolin and seemed to repair quicker.

Those expecting BOYS- He really thought peeing on me, the wall, the changing table, himself, etc. was a GREAT idea every time I changed him! HAHA - Yeah funny I know... Anyway.. it was from the cold wipes.- SOOO I HIGHLY recommend spending the $20 on a wipe warmer (I didnt need one with our daughter) to save the clean up and wasting of diapers, doing laundry and extra outfit changes. He now only lets er rip about every 5-6 diaper changes..
1.gif

Nuks- I was also completely against using a nuk (just as I was with our daughter) - NOW... if he requires a nuk for 5 minutes a day to soothe when he shouldn''t be hungry yet, than so be it... All babies are different, but I have tried 5 different types now and the only one he likes is the "Soothie" by the first years..

Milk Production- Since Alek eats So Much I was having a hard time producing enough milk to satisfy him - I did some research and found that fenugreek (herbal) pills increase your supply. So, I took a trip to the health food store and found "Lactation Ease" pills by Solaray which have 2 more types of herbs aside of the fenugreek.. They smell kinda bad and I do end up burping them up for 2 hours after taking them, but they have succeeded in increasing my supply by 1/2-1oz every time that I pump.. I now am stocking away 4 oz a day instead of knowing that he was always hungry. (and hes eating 1 oz more every feeding than he was when I was short on supply)

Thats all for now... Hope that this helps some of you!

Oh yeah..

JAS- Party at your house? Love the background of your 41wk shot

I had an appt today. I was joking with DH before I went in saying how I hoped my blood pressure would be up so they would get this baby out of me. Well, it WAS up 154/98. I laid on my side for a while and it came down to 120/78 which is still a bit high for me. I have to go back in 2 days to have my bp checked again but everything else is perfect. (except for the 5 lb weight gain in one week. I'm pretty sure it's mostly water weight, my ankles have gone into hiding...) I'm still really ready for this pregnancy to be over, but the thought of going early does scare me a bit. My dr goes on vacay this Friday for a week and a half. Now, I'm stuck between wondering if it's better to just deliver early, have someone else deliver me while doc's out of town, or suck it up and pray for the scheduled date. Obviously none of it is up to me, but it's all I can think about.

That's all for now. JT has been suffering the jealousies over the last few days so he needs some cuddling.

23 days and counting!!!!

eta~ almost forgot! JAS~ Lots of labor dust to you!!! Gosh, I think I'm miserable and I haven't even hit my due date yet!

So excited- wow the rapid demise of your belly was impressive! I''ll be thriled to progress like that

turtledazzle- you look great! so cute.

lovelylulu- awww, your 39 week belly is the cutest

Laila- you certainly are showing! Still just looking chunky over here.

Jas12- Hoping for your little bundle to arrive asap and healthy as can be!

Lynnie- welcome to the big girl thread

I cannot believe how far along we are already.

puppmom- too funny that MIL thought 80 was icey for a third tri preggo?! Hope she learns to turn it on by next weekend
2.gif

somethingshiny- glad they''re keeping an eye on the BP, but I''d keep baking Lily for a bit longer if possible!

------------

My weekend was quite lovely! We went home to Buffalo for the weekend for the wedding of some close friends. The weather was perfect, low 80s, sunny and not humid! Getting out of 95 degree sticky humid Baltimore was just.. ahhhhhhh. Unfortunately, flying made me feel awful on Thursday and Sunday. The "morning" sickness is really not letting up at 16+2. Someday perhaps
3.gif
I really really thought I was going to vomit on both plane landings.. luckily for the other passengers I managed to keep it together. But other than that, amazing weekend. This was the first time we''ve seen the fam since finding out we are preggo. They are too cute. Hubby''s dad insisted on taking a photo of my non-existent belly. It''s a really cute pic of the hub and me, at least.

And in other exciting news, our anatomy scan will be July 9! Still cannot believe how anxious I am to find out the sex, can''t wait
36.gif
36.gif

So can we talk GD? I have my 1 hour test on Thursday and while I wasn''t stressed about it before, I''m starting to worry...

What function does the test test? I wasn''t told to fast the night before or anything, just eat a high protein breakfast to help keep the sugar drink down, and they told me when to drink the sugar stuff. Should I be cutting back on my carbs this week?

SS, sheesh! I hope that pressure stays down. It''s fortunate that it seems like you''re able to control it with rest. Are you still working? I can''t remember if you''re a SAHM but, even so, that probably takes more energy than a day job!

Icekid, that sounds like a wonderful weekend with the exception of the nausea which I hope subsides soon. July 9th is just around the corner and that scan will be so much fun!

HH, I was nervous about the glucose tolerance test too but it was no biggie. I was given the same instructions as you - no fasting and eat a *normal* breakfast. That''s assuming a normal breakfast for you is not fruity pebbles.
9.gif
I don''t think you need to make any other modifications to your diet prior to the test. My understanding is that they specifically measure your glucose levels one hour after the high glucose drink to make sure your body is processing/tolerating the glucose as it should. Your levels should be within a specific range. I was scared because I imagined the rest of my pregnancy with no junk food! It turned out fine though. I found it empowering to get a copy of my results in the mail (some insurance companies will post your lab test results on their site too) then I googled away and was able to tell I was *normal* before I even heard from the doc! I think using the same blood draw, they test you for antibodies if you''re RH- and they check your iron levels. Good luck and bring a good book!

hh, most doctors are looking for a number below 130 or 140, my ob used 140. you should eat normally unless instructed otherwise. if your number is elevated you''ll do a 3 hr test. i was diagnosed w/ gd, then my ob determined it was just glucose intolerance. i had to follow the diet either way. some reputable research studies have come out disproving the existence of gd all together. if you aren''t overweight and don''t have a family history of diabetes it''s unlikely you''ll have it. both my sister and i had it, she is overweight i am not. my grandmother is diabetic, but didn''t get diagnosed until she was old.

Jas12- You are just the cutest preggo. Seriously, you look amazing. Hope your little one comes soon!!!

Ok, so saw this today. Have no experience with it so don''t know the pros/cons, but thought it was interesting enough to pass on.

Sucked in by babysteals again. I just bought a Wiggy Roll,

HH, as others said the glucose test is just to make sure you are processing sugar okay and maintaining appropriate blood sugar levels. They make you drink a sugary drink, and then test your blood sugar an hour later to make sure that it is in the normal range and not staying high. If you were to eat a half dozen doughnuts immediately beforehand :), and then drink the sugar-load drink, it is possible that your blood sugar levels might still be high when they are tested even though your body is functioning fine - Hence the ''eat normal'' recommendation.

Hello new medium-preggos! Welcome to the big girls thread/second tri.

Hi! 17+3 here... I officially had a belly explosion Mon night and had to break out the maternity pants. I can still get into my ''fat'' jeans, but my summer shorts and capris have hit their limit. I found some good stuff at Target to hold me over til I can do some serious shopping this weekend.

To the ladies just jumping on board and feeling a little icky still, I hope it resolves soon. I honestly have to say I feel so much better after week 16. My nausousness didn''t last that long in the first tri (don''t slap me) but the fatigue beat me up until the last week or so. I was able to get two workout days in a row for the first time since I got pregnant and don''t feel like I have to crawl in a hole by 10 am and die of exhaustion. I''ll take that as an improvment!

All this glucose talk has me hungry.
9.gif

Yea for new babies and new faces!!

Thanks ladies, feeling a little better now. Ahhhh gotta love these momentary irrational freak outs....

A note to those about to enter or newly in the second trimester. While the second trimester is MOST DEFINITELY a honeymoon period (OMG I don''t want to leave it!), it will take a few weeks to get to feeling that way. The beginning of the second trimester sucked for me. I had a relapse with m/s and was sick for a week and the exhaustion/moodiness was still there as well. But as I got further along, maybe around a month or 6 weeks in to it the cloud of sh*ttiness lifted and I suddenly had energy, a good attitude and a positive outlook. Oh, and nesting kicked in
3.gif
I''ve been more productive in the last month and a half with housework and that kind of stuff (don''t ask me about work work) than I ever have been in my life. So there''s hope for you yet!

Message to HH about third trimester. It blows!

Did I just say that?

Just a quick drive by to say how incredibly adorable Lovely and Nora look together - too cute for words!!!

Jas - you look fantastic for 41 weeks!!! Haven't heard from you yet today
31.gif
...here's hoping today is the day!

So Excited - thank you for the helpful hints - I love it when the mamas come back with helpful advice!

As for me, just plugging away at 22w5d.

Next week I have my glucose test so, good timing with your questions HH!

BB, is it normal with twins to get the glucose tolerance test earlier than in singleton pregnancies?

BTW, sorry HH for being so negative. I''m grumpy and uncomfortable today.
7.gif

Good question Puppmom - when are you supposed to go? I'll be 24 weeks when I go.

BTW - we are almost at 1,000 pages for this thread ladies!!!

ETA - Justlooking - thank you so much for the heads-up on the Isabella Oliver sale! I have a wedding coming up and have been searching all over the right dress. My DH is a groomsmen and it's black tie so, I was having trouble finding something "dressy enough." I had been eyeing the Wrap Column Dress for weeks now - Wrap Column Dress - but didn't want to pay $300 for it. I got it yesterday for $140 - no taxes and no shipping costs! I love the dress!

BB, I''m 27 weeks and have been under the assumption that that''s the "normal" time for it. But I''ve only got one critter in there, so it could be different for you.

Me too...I just assumed that when I got the test, it was the *right* time BUT HH and I are both RH- and have to get Rhogam around 27-28 weeks so our docs may have tried to time them to be together??

anywhere from 24-28 weeks is normal.

and the third trimester isn''t always miserable, but i liked being pregnant.

"critter" lol

The best part of my pregnancy physically was the second tri, but with Baby''s heart issues and "taking it easy" I really didn''t enjoy it. The third tri has been awful for me. I would usually consider myself to be able to take a lot, but with pregnancy I''m a Debbie Downer. My most recent complaint is the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome that I''ve developed. Dr says it should gradually diminish after pregnancy, but it is very painful, leaves my hand weak (I dropped my flat iron and burnt the heck out of my arm), and makes it nearly impossible to sleep. I just keep telling myself that his is all worth it. As soon as I hold Lily in my arms, all of the discomfort will fade away and seem like nothing. Of course the huge serotonin release will aide in that!

uh yea, this Thursday''s appointment is going to take ALL effing day! I''ve got my GD test, a cervical u/s, my Rhogam shot and my standard monthly check up. Not to mention they''re ALWAYS running behind so my appointments take forever on a good day. I need to remember to bring a book this time.
