Price seems too good to be true but the seller has good reviews. I actually found it on IG and went to the Etsy page. The seller is in Canada and said no treatment beyond heat. The color, cut, and size are all what I’m looking for so I’m tempted.

Personally I would pass due to the amount of visible inclusions even though it is magnified.

Also, I prefer my Aquas pale with a hint of green, so the colour of this stone does not appeal to me.

Personal preferences and all that.

DK :))

Do you think the inclusions are what is bringing the price down? Color wise I definitely want a darker aqua. Doesn’t have to be Santa Maria color.

I don't know much about aquamarines but I love the color shown.

I’ve wondered on this one as well.
Wondered if it truly is only heat, no color treatments/added and if the inclusions are what makes the price low.

If the inclusions don’t bother you - everything you read is about how aquas should be 100% clean
Me- even if expecting a bit less color compared to listing photos, fir this size and this price -I’d get it and send it to a lab.
Inquiring minds.
I’d ask her if she’d take it back full refund + repot charges if the lab report came back anything other than simple heat.

I still might keep it though - if it were indeed found to be something else plus heat. But at a reduced price and only if the treatment was 100% stable and won’t fade.

I’m taking out my butt here. I’m no expert.

I do too!

I like this idea! Thank you. I’ll see what she says.

Don't know, sorry.

Please post photos when you get it. She has some beautiful gems.

The color saturation is gorgeous! And I love the cut. But since aqua is a Type I gemstone, you really want to look for eye clean or better. I do see that you've already purchased it, so I look forward to your review!

There’s still a return policy so I will definitely post it when I get it to ensure everything is good to go. I have my eye on another aqua but that vendor didn’t respond to me so I kept looking… I can circle back with that vendor if anything.

Color is not bad. It is not Santa Maria color. The inclusions are visible. I would not pay the asking price for this stone even looking at it as a consumer and not a past gemstone dealer. No more than $50 a carat, at the most.

What’s your opinion on this one?

The seller contacted me yesterday with a potential issue so the aqua I purchased is up in the air.

The Paraiba Aqua looks clean but it does not read as a dark Aqua to me and the step cut design is one of my least favorite ... YMMV.

I agree on the cut. Also not my fave. But finding similarly sized darker aquas has been such a challenge. Is there one you prefer to the other? I’m still waiting to hear back from the vendor on the aqua I purchased.

The Paraiba International Aqua is nice, but you can find just as nice for half the price. It will take some looking, but there are countless smaller dealers out there that can beat that price with as nice as Aqua's, even better.

Do you have any vendor recommendations? I reached out to aquamarinetraders on IG twice and they told me both times that they’re so busy, they’ll have to get back to me and then never did. These are the best ones I’ve managed to find so far.

Are you on the Facebook groups that Fred has recommended before?

I wonder if that’s what he‘s meaning with countless smaller dealers with better pricing and /or better product.

My best advice is to google Aquamarine and type in a search for Aquamarine on Facebook and Instagram.

My apologies, but I am not here to recommend dealers, even though I am retired from the trade, I try to be neutral.

Good luck to you.

Thank you. Im not on FB but I do have an IG so I’ll keep looking there.

Might be out of range price wise, but I would love to own a gem cut by Glenn someday. He's got some "double blue" aquas.

I think I’ve reached out to him before but I’ll definitely try again. His stuff is beautiful

@winnietucker -- how do you like concave cuts, like those by Gene / Precision Gem? It may be I know of someone who is contemplating parting with her concave Aqua square cushion (with cut corners); it is not a dark Aqua, but it is natural color (no heat) so there's a hint of seafoam green in with the blue ...

They’re not my cup of tea but good color in the size I’m looking for is my main priority. I’m open to looking at all options if they want to send me photos. I’ve been looking for a bit now… It’s both my husband and my son’s birthstone so I’d definitely like to purchase an aqua within the next year at the very least.

I can be contacted here:

Have you seen this one?

The vendor circled back to confirm with her supplier heat treatment only. I told her as long as it’s eye clean to me and treatment is stable, I’m happy. After confirming everything was ok the aqua was shipped out. She did confirm price was because of inclusions. The search for other aquas is on pause right now. I’ll post pics when I get it.
