Hello all! We are having a garden wedding, with a rustic, simple, vintage-feel to it in June 2010. Our favorite color is "grass green" and thought that would be a fun shade to have as a main color. I''m just not sure it is "vintage, or rustic" enough.

We chose the Juliet dress from J. Crew as our bridesmaid dress. All of the girls LOVE the style of the dress and are really pleased with it. 2 of them love the green shade, Clover, and 2 like the peachy-pink shade, Light Shell.

I recently saw the Light Shell in person and thought it was really pretty, romantic, and could fit in well with the vintage vibe we are going for. I also think if I end up getting an ivory dress, it will go with it much better than the bright green.

I just still can''t decide. I feel like the green is something you don''t see all the time, and is fun, which we want our wedding to be. I also think the green will look better in pictures. Does anyone have experience with a light colored bridesmaid dress in pictures?

What do you think? Green or Peachy-pink? I''d love to hear your opinions!!! Thanks so much!

Here''s the style of the dress, in Clover.

Here''s the "Light Shell"...same material, just a different dress

Green. But I like bright colors.

However, I will say that the pink color looks too light--almost skin color...

Light shell! Light shell!

You can use grass green as an amazing, unexpected splash of colour, but I think those dresses will be too bright if you''re going for vintage/rustic.

Def the peachy pink.

Lovin the peach <3

Thanks for the responses!

I am still so torn...both are pretty! Keep the opinions coming!

I think the green will pop more and will be a good contrast to your dress (that is of course if you are wearing a shade of white/ivory). However I see what you mean by the soft shell colour being more vintagey. Have a look at some bridal magazines and see weather you like the look of bold contrast of bright colours. The thing that you might find with the soft shell is that it may not contrast with your dress enough? Remember that accessories always change the look of an outfit so perhaps consider vintage jewelery/ shoes/hairstyle. Think pearls/ feathers etc. My BM''S had some vintage brooches that were all defferent woven into their hair which looked great!

They are both beautiful colors. I think the green with peachy pink flowers or vice versa would look amazing! The only big con that I can think of with the green is that green is a hard color to wear and it may not look good with all skintones.

I love

the green - I think it would look stunning! The peach is beautiful, too, but IMO just ho hum. The green is like WOW!

I love the bright green, but given the description of a garden wedding and wanting a rustic vibe, I think the peachy-pink might fit better. It might be a difficult color though on the actual girls, depending on their skin tones, it could easily wash someone out. Have you looked at any other green dresses, maybe a little more subdued in tone?

Maybe something like this in the Fawn color? http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WeddingParties/Wedding_Bridesmaid/dresses/silktaffeta/PRDOVR~19961/19961.jsp

ETA: I don't know how to make links work, gah!

Exactly what I was thinking. The peachy color is skin colored and would look good only on the right skin/ hair

I go for the green. I adore bright colors (our colors are pool blue and green apple green), so I may be a little biased

I had the same dilemma 2 years ago! Green is my favorite color, so it was the main color we used. But ultimately I opted for a more "classic" color and my BMs wore Ivory. Part of my decision was based on my dress color though because my dress was called "antique" and green just did not go w/ it at all. We also had an outdoor wedding and I was worried we''d have too much green.

So I say go w/ the peachy color (eventhough I LOVE that color green

Here''s a link to my wedding...there''s a pic of me w/ my BMs so you can get a feel for what a more neutral color would look like in photos.

PS...I don''t think you could go wrong w/ either color though..no help i know

cdt1101 - Thank you for your advice! I remember looking at your wedding pictures awhile back. You were the most beautiful bride!!!

You nailed my dilemma right on the head. I''m worried there will be too much green if we do the green dress, but I also worry the peach will be too light. The green is fun, the peachy-pink is classic. Ahhh!

We plan on doing gold strappy sandals either way...I think gold shoes and a nice tan would look AMAZING with the peachy-pink color! And, great with the green as well.

My fiance insists on wearing a black tux...and I think if we did black for the guys, it would look much better with the peachy-pink than the green. What do you think?

Now, here''s another question for you all. Which color would you likely wear again?? I really want my girls to get to wear their dresses again, that''s why we chose a style that everyone loved.

cinnamon - JMHO, but I think if you're doing the black tux I would do the peachy pink. I just think the green is more playful, fun and black tux doesn't "fit" w/ that. I also did ivory w/ the intention that they could wear it again, but the reality of that is that most of the time no one wears their BM dresses again. I think the only exception is black. But even then I've personally never known anyone to wear a BM dress other than at the wedding

Thanks for the compliment btw

Well, if 2 like clover and 2 like peachy-pink, why not have both?!? Let the girls get the color dress they like best, and then figure out how you want to arrange them! Green, Pink, Green, Pink? Green, Pink, Pink, Green? Green, Green, Pink, Pink???!?! I think it could be fun!

Would you consider any other color other than the ones you've mentioned? I do like the peachy pink color but think it could fade out a bit. The green is a fun color but probably not the shade I would consider for a formal wedding. Would there be a different shade of either color that you might consider?

I do like both styles of dresses that are shown and think that either one of them could probably be worn again!

I agree with vc10um. Have both!

Hi everyone! Thanks again for all of your helpful and honest responses!

On my drive home tonight, I started thinking about brown...brown is something that people may wear again...and goes well with green and peachy-pink, if I used those colors elsewhere. I''m planning on using white and ivory flowers...what do you guys think?!

Here's the brown...

Brown or peachy-pink?

i love both colors, and am specially digging the light shell. however, you did mention your favourite color is green so i''d say - go with the green. the light shell may look nice or may go with the vintage feel but that''s like a one-time-nice-color versus your favorite color.

Green is more contemporary and the shell more vintage/romantic. It depends on the feel you want. I'd go with the green if I could get my BMs to agree to the color, but that's just me. I like the look of green and white. Take a look at goldenstar's wedding to see what I mean by contemporary classic. If that's not the vibe you're leaning toward I'd get the pink. Also pics of your own dress would be helpful to figure out the 'feel' of things.

ETA: BROWN, BROWN, BROWN. Will look fabulous with the flowers popping in front of it for the pics!! That one gets my vote, BUT it is more formal than the other two, more 'cocktail' and less 'garden.'

Thank you, Gypsy. Your post makes sense.

I''m so lucky to have to greatest friends as my BMs, and they are really supportive with all of my indecision!!

I think I''m leaning towards the Light Shell as of now. My FI really dislikes brown...so I''m guessing we aren''t doing that!

The garden is very green...so I feel like the Light Shell will pop, and look really pretty on the girls with gold, strappy sandals and a little color (tan)!

I still haven''t found my dress, but I definitely have a current favorite (did I mention I was indecisive??). I''m about 90% sure I want the Marisa 815 which will fit the romantic, vintage, rustic feel, but will also be going to a Brides Against Breast Cancer event this weekend to see if I can find anything at a good price/good cause!

I think both are fine but I overall, I prefer the green. If you are going for a vintage theme though, definitely the light shell. A bright green color just does not say vintage to me... Do you have any ideas what you want for flowers decor etc? Which of these colors fits better with those visions?

Light Shell!! I may be biased because those are the dresses I''m having in my wedding, but I think it is so feminine and soft. Also, having a wedding in June, your bridesmaids are likely to have gotten a bit of sun which will make the pale peach look beautiful against their skin tone. My dress is actually a pale champagne color but the two look beautiful together. I''m also having black tuxes and the flowers will all be white. I love the vintage look as well, my reception will be out on a terrace tented with white tents and I''ll have lights strung and paper lanterns and candles. I just wanted everything to glow. Ok, I''m getting off track.. but I can''t say enough about this gorgeous light shell color! Have you ordered a fabric swatch? It looks even more beautiful in person, less pink and more orangey-peach. Good luck deciding!!

What skin tone do your girls have? I think that pale pink is pretty, but would wash out some color types and not look good in pictures. I think the green is more universally flattering, and much more fun! I vote green.

I think the green is re-wearable AND will photograph the best. Unless the pink shell is on a darker skin tone I think it will look washed out in photos. My girls all wore shades of blue and I loved how the brightest colors popped out in the photos especially in the trees where we took our bridal party pics.

Yup! The green should work for almost any skin tone, whereas the peach might clash. I know it would on me!
