A violet spinel was the very first coloured gem I wanted when I started, but simply no one's had rough, so I am excited!

Of course I will reserve judgement for when it arrives, but knowing me it will go into a ring - I would want to enjoy the colour seeing as I''ve sought one for so long.

I have a couple of new LOGR settings to share.

This is a baguette setting I've liked for a while. I'm not sure what tp put in it, as I've gone through my collection, and it is supposed to fit a 7x7mm round or 6.5 cushion. I think I may go look at a Tsavorite I've had my eye on for a while to fill this piece, but I wanted to share it because it's really lovely and feels like a weightier piece than I'm used to from Stephan.

The downside - the baguettes aren't quite as clean as the baguettes in the single tapered baguette settings I own.

And now, what's going in it.

My local jeweler called in a few red spinels for me since I was having terrible luck finding one I liked online. I looked through about 20 or so over the past few months, and there was always something wrong. Too much extinction for the money, too brown for the money, etc. Then he called me to check out this one that had GIT certification. It's 1.66 ct., Burmese, and 6.42 x 6.33mm. It was a bit over the budget, but it holds it's own in all light, and it's kind of glowey, though I don't have a black light to check for FL. It has a touch of pink to it in the pics, but it's not noticeable in person.

One more. As always, having trouble capturing it''s colour in a picture, but I am really happy with this one.

My next project is to start looking for an elongated cushion Mahenge spinel. That should only take me about . . . what. . . 11ty months?

Thank you, Freke! This is the one I found literally the day after I told you that the last one had to go back because of the horrible extinction. I sat on it for a week and finally pulled the trigger this weekend. I'll take it to get it set on Friday.

That being said, anyone seen any nice less than 7mm round orless than 6.6mm square Tsavorites? I REALLY love that baguette setting and I know I want a Tsav for it now.

Love the settings with the baguettes, is it an inclusion? and not something on the metal part? I know I can''t see too well from my monitor and you know your settings better than anyone else. It still is lovely.
