Elsie that sweater turned out gorgeous! Wow! Your MIL must love it

Thanks, Delster! She did like it (luckily).

Wow, you are the most prolific knitter I''ve ever met! I really love all the things that you''ve made. I might just have to make that Seaman''s Cap for my hubby -- he''s been requesting a hat and it''s so cold around here this winter. Was it hard to make?

I love seeing everyones'' finished products. Thanks for starting this thread, Delster!

I know it''s not knitting.. But I am embroidering these towels for my mom for Mother''s Day. She used to have a similar set from a great grandmother, but they got lost in a move. I''ve only completed one, but here is Sunday!

What a beautiful towel!!! I can only fake my way through embroidery so I have a ton of respect for anyone who can do as good of a job as you did.

i''m just starting out so i don''t have favorite needles or anything... but the pair i started on are birch hardwood brittany needles.
is one material preferred over another?

also, where do you get your knitting bags / needle holders? any favorite holders out there?

I am so bad - my knitting needle storage device is an old scotch container!!! It is long and cylindrical, so it works fine!

I like birch needles fine too. I really am not a fan of metal (except for my turbos), and really loved the casien.

My favorite needles are Addi Natura Bamboo circulars. I knit everything on circular needles as I find them to be much easier on my hands and arms. I''ve tried a zillion different needles and really think that trying them out is the best way to pick the ones that are best for you.

Don''t love circulars myself. I like the "regular" needles. Don''t you find the metal cold on your hands????

Wow, you are the most prolific knitter I've ever met! I really love all the things that you've made. I might just have to make that Seaman's Cap for my hubby -- he's been requesting a hat and it's so cold around here this winter. Was it hard to make?

I love seeing everyones' finished products. Thanks for starting this thread, Delster!

You're very welcome! Thank YOU and EVERYONE who's contributed - I love love love seeing all the crafty projects

Elsie if you think I'm prolific you gotta get on Ravelry and check out what other people get up to! I mean, they must have extra hours in the day or something, I don't know how they do it. LadyAmethyst for one seems to churn out beautiful blankets every week
30.gif
The Seaman's Cap was very easy, and BF says it has thermal heating qualities (I used Rowan Coccoon on 6mm needles. I needed just barely over one skein and I'm a very tight knitter) . Go for it, it'll turn out great!

LitigatorChick, my favourite needles are Addi Turbos. They are so smooth, I love them. I don't find them cold to the touch at all. Now the old metal needles I've had since I was six or seven, those are icy to the touch when you first pick them up! And the points are worn to razor sharpness so they're actually kinda dangerous
3.gif
I've got to try some bamboos soon but I'm a such a circular needles addict I can hardly bear to hang up my Addis. I haven't seen any bamboo circs in Ireland yet - lucky you Erica, bamboo Addi circs?!? I'm jealous! I do love the Peace Fleece needles though. They are just so beautiful with the little ladybirds and beetles on the tops!

OUPearl those towels are gorgeous! What a lovely thing to make for your Mom, I'm sure she will be very touched. It's such a sentimental gift. And you are so talented!

JCrow, my needle holder is a hideous tartan affair that I love to death because my BF's mother gave it to me! I have virtually nothing to put in it because it can't hold circs. For those, I keep them in their original little plastic baggies. My knitting projects are stored in a lovely flat bottomed plastic tote that BF's Mum also gave me (she saw me admiring it and ooohing over how it would be perfect for knitting stuff, and secretly bought it for me with the needle wrap thrown in an extra surprise - how sweet is she?!?

). It's got a tropical pattern on the outside and it's just so cheery and practical, I love it. My yarn stash is in assorted plastic bags, all stored in a, um, laundry hamper. Trés chic
2.gif
My local yarn shop stocks these ones, they are so beautiful.

My Daddy's socks are going slooooow. One is done (I'll stick on a piccy) and I just turned the heel on the other one this morning before I knuckled down to study. Em, I'm supposed to give them to him tomorrow. Yeah. Hopefully I won't be too tired on the bus tomorrow to get some knitting done. If I knit while I'm tired I get travel sick, yuck

Those socks look fab and ooooh so toasty!!!

Good heavens, you all are soooo talented. I know I promised long ago to post pics of scarves I knitted for co-workers...but...ahem, I never ended up having time to make them.
38.gif
I still have enjoyed perusing this thread every chance I get, and you all have such talent! I did receive a hardcover "EASY" knitting book from my favorite auntie after Christmas and another softcover booklet on knitting from my mother, I hope to use them both soon...I have sooo much yarn and plenty of recipients but I just haven''t found the motivation to get something finished already! Tsk, I know, I''m terrible. One of these days I will just knit up a storm and post a big old long thread about it, with pics. I swear. LOL!
35.gif

OK, so I''ve finally gotten around to taking some pictures of things I''ve knit and I''m going to post them! First up, the scarf I knit bf for Christmas this year--it''s a fair isle tube scarf with a message in binary knit into it.

BinaryScarf.jpg

Here''s a close up of the scarf.

BinaryScarfClose.jpg

And here's a sweater I knit for myself. Please ignore the computer wires in the background--I blame the bf.

GreenSweater.jpg

One more--this is a shawl that I knit. Unfortunately, I can''t get the pictures to do it justice. every chevron is a different stitch (garter, stockinette, seed, moss, reverse stockinette) with eyelets separating them. It''s knit on size 4 needles with laceweight half-silk, half-lambswool hand dyed yarn, so it''s really light and airy. Ah well, at least you can see sort of what it looks like. Once I actually finish the quilt I''m working on, I''ll have to post that as well!

Ladypirate, you are one talented PS Gal! What is your current project?

wow ladypirate!!! you''ve got some talent, eh?!
everything you''ve posted looks beyond amazing!

Ladypirate, you are one talented PS Gal! What is your current project?

I'm finishing a fair-isle christmas stocking I got a late start on in December for my mom and also working on a short-sleeved sweater. I have a whole list of other projects I want to do as well--I have a really adorable pattern for a cable-knit sweater that I want to convert to being knit in the round.

For now, though, I need to finish the quilt I'm doing for my cousin's baby. I've pieced about a quarter of the top so I need to finish doing that and then actually quilt it!

Oh my goodness your projects are beautiful! I can't wait to see what you come up with next!

(BTW did you get your Ravelry invite yet?)

JCrow how are your knitting classes going?

I'm totally on ravelry (same username as here)--although I just got around to uploading the pictures I took to post here! I'll definitely have to start being better about sharing my projects.

ladypirate I messaged you on Ravelry - I didn''t want to just randomly add you as a friend without explaining who I am!

So my Simple Knitted Bodice is almost done but I''ve had to use TWO more balls of yarn than the pattern recommended and the body is STILL too short. Apparently, in addition to a long torso, I also have monkey arms. Why oh why did I get legs that are only 28" long then? Really that is most unfair... So anyway I''m waiting to find out if my LYS has the same dyelot (they think they may have it, yay!) and then I''ll knit on down a bit more on the body and it will be done. It''s turning out really nice! I''ll post a pic when it''s finished.

What is everyone else working on? Or is all the knitting slowing down now the weather''s warming up?
1.gif
Course, we wouldn''t know anything about that over here...

In the last week I know of two separate people who were diagnosed with leukemia. One of them is an 18 year old girl.
39.gif
Since both will be starting Chemo in the next week I stopped by the yarn shop and picked up some fab yarn to make them caps. I''m going to follow the Shedir pattern from Knitty. Hopefully I can get them done pretty quickly.

I also picked up some Lorna''s Laces Shepherd Sock for me. I need to finish the chemo caps prior to starting on the socks.

Erica,

What a wonderful thing to do for them. I am so sorry to hear of this. Many hugs and prayers to them.

Linda

Thanks Linda. It was a shock to hear about one of them - the 18 year old daughter of a co-worker. Nobody wants to hear about someone that young being that sick.

I''m on Ravelry, too! I''ve got the same name as I do here. I haven''t used it much, but today I am going to photograph all of my current projects and I''ll be updating it over the next few days.

Wow, you ladies have made some beautiful things! I knit, but so far just baby blankets and scarves...I would love to knit sweaters and such, but I am way too impatient and I have children who would not allow the time, lol.

Erica, I''m sorry to hear about your friends being ill. It''s a lovely thing to knit hats for them, I''m sure they will appreciate it very much. You are very good to do it. The Shedir pattern is beautiful, you must be very talented!

I''m off now to look you up on Ravelry...

Your knitting and other crafty projects are all gorgeous! I really have to learn to knit.

My cross stitching bridal project is done! I just finished it last night. I''m thrilled!

And completely off topic but is that your couch fabric or a throw? It''s so funky, I love it!

Oh no. I''ve been bitten by the scrap booking bug. I started out looking at some scrap book supplies while coming up with ideas for my Save the Dates and now I''m obsessing. Beautiful papers, rubber stamps, stickers! I think my FI''s head will explode if I take up another craft...

lol It''s a throw. It actually has a tiger''s face on it. We keep it there because of all the cat hair...
