I think your ring will be beautiful! I''m going the custom route so I KNOW what you''re going through!

I think 5 or 7-stone would be beautiful... on both 5-stone handshots you posted, you see some metal beyond the sidestone- with the 7-stone, it would still be BLING... and if ya like bling, that''s a good thing to see that extra bling.

I love the head on the second pic you posted... I think it''s one of the prettiest!

When I first saw the bump ring awhile back, I remember thinking, ''There should SO be tiny diamonds instead of just bumps!'' So, personally, I would want the tiny diamonds instead of bumps or holes. But, none would be a bad choice... the diamonds would give a bit a sparkle, the bumps texture and the holes a delicate look.

You''re already made a lot of really good design choices. So don''t rush any decision now... obsess as long as you need to (it''s worked for me). I also tried on rings that had similarities to what I want- even if I had to try on 5 each having something I wanted and imagined those 5 elements were together.

I''m sure your ring will come out gorgeous!
Sera, I SO appreciate your kind words & feedback. I remember your recent thread about choosing a Maytal ring, and I remember how much I could relate to you on the custom process, trying on fake rings etc. etc. It is so maddening, and so I start to ask myself, "why couldn''t I just choose the best setting I could find out there?" But if this turns out right, it should be better than anything I saw.

I just looked thru some of your old threads, most of which I missed (my PS time is limited, and there are sometimes huge gaps in it!), but in one of them you mentioned you like, "Delicate, feminine, thin bands, not too many geometric hard edges- there needs to be some softness and flow." I could so relate to that too!

I am so glad you said this! That is the head I am going for, and actually something came up yesterday - maybe I will explain later after I talk to Pete - but let''s just say that what came up kinda got me stressed again, and second-guessing the head. Because all along I wanted a head that sits low, and the head in that second picture is the primary change I wanted from JL''s ring. Hers was perfect for her, as a wedding set, but for stand-alone, and to not be too engagement-y, and for a low-sitting head, which I love, I really liked that second head. Unfortunately I only have those two pics (on MWM''s site) of that ring, but still, it also is more similar to the Simon G w/ pave head, which I liked. Maybe I''ll post a pic of that below.
So, all that longwinded stuff was a way of saying, hearing your comment kinda made my day, because that was good + reinforcement for me!

That''s true, about the metal showing in those pics, but that''s because they''re probably about size 6.5 or 7, and my finger is size 5. One thing I have not mentioned in this thread is that I am getting a hinged shank. I know some folks frown upon them, but I really want this ring to fit, and my knuckle on my right hand is two sizes bigger than the ring part of my finger! (It can actually take a 4.5 when not swollen, but to get over the knuckle the ring would need to be size 6.5 at least.) So, since the ring will fit right, I actually think 5 stones would cover. I think everyone is right, 5 or 7 will be beautiful, so I think I could go either way, and like everyone said, 7 will cover better. But I have a feeling the hinged shank will be the limiting feature, because there''s only so much room until you get to the hinge (at 3 o''clock & 9 o''clock), so, we will see if the correct head (#2 above) plus the rest of it, will accomodate 7 stones.

This feedback helps too. I am still debating on ''lumps or no lumps''..

Yes, I''ve done a TON of that too. That''s kind of what I am doing with this ring. I think what gets me frazzled is, what if when you put those 5 elements together they don''t work together!? Which I shouldn''t really worry, since hopefully I am not departing too much from those rings above. Although I do wish I could try them on!

Anyway, thanks again for this very valuable feedback. Even about not rushing... Now that the ring is underway, I feel like "the pressure is on", but you''re right, I can just tell Pete to let me sleep on a few things etc.. I am very slow at deciding this stuff, and I wish I didn''t let it get me stressed out, although maybe the fact that I''ve been down with the flu isn''t helping either!!

Just a quick update. We did go down to 5 stones, for practical reasons I won''t get into. Which is fine with me since that is the look I had tried on often, and was really picturing all along. The ring should be done within a week, according to the last estimate. I still get nervous; have even been staying off PS to not drive myself crazy. As for the bumps/lumps/nubs of metal under the prongs, Pete said we will leave them off, and we can add them later if I prefer. Say a little prayer that it turns out beautiful!!

I am sure it will be totally gorgeous!! Can''t wait to see the finished product!

Saying a prayer ... however ... no doubts that this will be stunning! Woohoo!

Glad to see you posted, I've actually been looking for you. How has it been going working with Quest?

*saying prayers*

Thanks, gwendolyn, Sparkalicious, & Ellen! It helps.
Ellen, I guess my answer for now would be, as with everything in life there are always pros and cons. Very well in some aspects.

mrssalvo, thanks for asking! I just posted a SMTR thread. Last week I didn''t have time to do a SMTR thread; was away for the weekend. Thanks so much for all your help with this all along! Is your ring done yet? How about your baby?

Hi!

Thanks for your kind comments about my wedding set!

Not sure if it''s too late to chime in now (haven''t read the whole thread yet), but the "bumps" were a safeguard in order to prevent the stones (on both bands) rubbing against each other when I wear them as a set.

Going to check if you have posted the completed set!
