Dancing With the Stars

With all due respect, VRBeauty, I think it is tough to watch not only people with zero rhythm, but also to watch people with zero flexibility, dance on a competitive television show, so that's why I feel like tonight's elimination was called for.

Trying not to spoil here...what was tonight's "eliminee" going to do for the rest of the competition? No lifts? No moves requiring flexibility? The candidate gave it their all, that's for sure, and was absolutely full of spirit...but come ON! All and spirit don't win DWTS, form, technique, and ability do. It is certainly fun for the audience to see unlikely competitors, though, I will grant you that. :naughty:

I loved Florence. Sure, she's one of the worst dancers pure ability-wise, but then again, I felt like she and Bristol are on about the same level skills-wise, and at least Florence was far more entertaining. I'm looking forward to seeing Bristol gone next week.

Yes, B.E.G., I loved Flo as well, but Flo ain't got the moves to make it to the end...and you're right, neither does Bristol (who should've gone home WAY before Flo.) I mean, at least Florence remembered her moves, which was more than anyone cared to admit when critiquing them both this week (very sadly). Mrs. Brady: you were loved in more decades than we care to admit. xoxoxo.

Totally agree! I'm trying to figure out who else I want to go, but I actually like most of the people left. I love Kyle, Kurt and Rick. I think the girls are way stronger (Jennifer and Audrina) but I like the guys so much more.

Rick totally gives me the creeps...always has for some reason. Jennifer and Brandy both need to be less emotional because all their drama makes me want to punch them and it makes me like their dancing less. I can't stand Lacey, so it hard for me to root for Kyle who is otherwise fairly adorable.

I've never seen The Hills, but I find myself strangely drawn to Audrina. She's just all business, no drama, but seems really sweet. Her eating the onion made me laugh. I'm a big fan of Kurt (partly because I am totally and completely in love with Anna Trebunskaya). I'm also on Team Bristol. Until last night's monstrosity, I've been impressed with her technique and she seems so serene dancing, even if she can't emote. I'm pretty sure she's gone next week, though, and rightly so.

Tonight I cried when the five boys danced. I am a sentimental idiot.

Brandy! Forgot Brandy. I dislike her. She seems like a super b!tch to me - Maks always seems to get the difficult ones (wasn't a fan of Erin last season either - blah). I like Rick partially because he's dating Eliza Dushku, and I love her - ha, fan by association. And yes, the dramz is getting annoying.

I like Audrina! Didn't expect to (since her claim to fame is The Hills) but she's impressed so far.

Gah! I'm not a Brandy fan...I mean Moesha was alright, her modeling career was blah, when she had her baby, ,though, and that circular crib I thought AWESOME, but that was back in the '90's. Today, on DWTS, she seems very prima d. and I don't see myself getting past that.

Audrina...I feel bad for her for her obviously botched boobies, but she does have a bit of rhythm and perhaps she can find SOME soul one of these weeks. If not...well, you know...just another reality star bites the dust, right? (But WHERE IS THE SOUL, AUDRINA???)

I leave it to Jennifer Grey, (I will not mention the nose job...hmm hmm hmm hmm...*eyes upward*), Kyle what's his name, Kurt Warner, and that other dude, the NBA playa...I think it will be an excellent "dance-off."

Monarch - I have never claimed to be due any respect! I just don't see Bristol pulling a rabbit out of her hat either. She lacks all of the above, as well as any sense of style. I'd love to see her do well in this competition ( see my earlier posts) but I think she's already outlasted her shelf life.

That said, it's only a reality show! I'm sure I'll be watching it again next week!

I'm pleased with the elimination. While I admire Flo for even attempting such a thing, it was time. Hoping Bristol is next. I totally don't get the whole "I'm for teen abstinence! Watch me writhe on this older man in public! Wait--I'll be scored on my molestation too! Wahoo!!!"

monnie - did I miss something on Audrina? What was botched?

I am just so in love with JG it's ridiculous. We share initials too.. which I just realized.

Her boobs? I didn't notice - she looked normal to me? But apparently her music cues were botched or something this week too.

All I know is, reality show or not, DWTS is at least not as irritating as Survivor has been this season (i.e. the right people are getting voted off - ahem, The Situation...)

Is anyone still watching? I usually don't watch until the last few episodes. I felt bad for Brandy this week. It will be interesting to see how everything turns out, especially with all of the Mama Grizzly voting fraud allegations swirling about.

We've been hanging in and thoroughly enjoying it because of Jennifer Grey. She has an amazing talent for dancing. It's been really beautiful to watch. My husband usually doesn't watch TV, but we're both looking forward to the finals next week.

I have still been watching every week. I'm surprised that Brandy didn't make the finals, but I have to admit, I have grown to like Bristol. The first few shows, I literally fast forwarded her performances because I was embarrassed for her. But lately I've watched all of her dances. I think she's gotten so much better. Her improvement is the best I've ever seen. That being said, her talent isn't at the same level as JG and Brandy.

Cannot BELIEVE Bristol is in the final. :knockout: (Not that she's not personally likeable, but come on - she still can't dance!).

Never really liked JG - with Brandy gone, I'm sure she'll win, but I'm rooting for Kyle.

It's funny, but I don't think Bristol is a bad dancer - she's a terrible terrible emoter. Not in the same league as the performers Brandy or JG, but technically she's okay. She just can't sell it! Obviously she has a voting block, though, and the show has set up a system where viewers count for half. To the producers: live by the sword, die by the sword.

As for the others, I think Brandy's attitude really hurt her. I HATED her in the early weeks, then thought she became insincerely nice in the later ones. Thus, even though she dances beautifully, I never warmed up to her. I don't think Maks helped her, either. Pretty man, but so temperamental.

I find it hard to root for JG the same way I found it hard to root for Kristi Yamaguchi or Nicole Scherzwhatever - unfair advantage! JG has a dance background to the point where it has always seemed more about her learning the choreography, not learning to dance. Plus, her whining was just too much to handle. And she always tries to be "sexy" (like when they walk down the stairs and she shimmies) and it makes me cringe the same way I cringed whenever Baby did anything in Dirty Dancing because she's so awkward.

I adore Kyle - he's just so much fun to watch dance! His feet are kind of a mess, but I never care because of his energy and spirit. I would be happy if he won because he really seems to embody what the show is about. Even Lacey has grown on me! They are HILARIOUS together. She really seems to love him like a little brother.

DWTS often isn't about the best dancer. Jerry Rice? Not a good dancer, in the finals. Emmitt definitely wasn't better than Mario. Donny Osmond? Really?

I hope everyone votes. :))

I am glad I am not the Only person who doesn't like Jennifer Gray!! :o I thought Brandy was okay. I also CANNOT believe Bristol is still in; she is AWFUL :knockout: She looks pained when she dances and it is hard to watch!!!

I hope Kyle wins; I love him! He is has an awesome personality and just seems like an all around great guy and it shows in his dancing!!!! I have a feeling that Bristol will win because of the way the competition has gone so far; it is too bad this is no longer based on talent!!!! :blackeye:

Yay, I agree; JG bugs me too w/trying to be sexy and the shimmies, batting her eyelashes (so annoying) and the whining!!! haha I do feel bad she is in pain.

I agree Maks was a nightmare for the judges! haha

But I think that Kyle Massey Disney person was the best of the night. He was hilarious AND good. Plus I love having Lacey back on the show.
:appl: Self-congratulations! Self-congratulations! I hope he WINS!

Brandy can kiss off. I knew she'd be booted. Maks is a T.O.O.L and she's a fluttery, blubbery drama QUEEN robot. Nothing behind the eyes.

Jennifer came in thinking she already had it won. Has been a bit humbled by her physical troubles ... but just not that compelling somehow. Its nice to see her dance, but wouldn't be FUN to see her win. It would be FUN to see Kyle win. And it would be DRAMZ to see Bristol win. Jennifer would just be ... eh.

However, it always comes down to the freestyle. Whoever wins the freestyle, wins the whole shebang.

Good gosh a'mighty! I agree with every single thing you said! :D

Brandy and her partner = attitude. HIS attitude turned voters off. Bye-bye.

Jennifer = entitlement. If she invoked Swayze one more time . . . grrrrrr. They weren't friends who stayed in touch, ya know? You don't see Lisa Niemi endorsing her.

Kyle = fun, entertainment, excitement, improvement, giving it his all and having a ball.

Bristol = awkward. Some very misguided voters out there. She was shocked not to have been voted off. Winning would be ridiculous. And more fodder for her haters. If I were Bristol, I would seriously consider pulling myself out of the running. If only to stem the flow of criticism.

I'm voting for her solely because it amuses me greatly how twisted up in knots the haters are about her. Every time I read comments about "THE INTEGRITY!" and how they "will never watch the show again if she wins!" it makes me want her to win even more. It's a silly dance show, people!

Well, sure it is. But I'm still dumb enough to believe that people SHOULD vote for the best dancer. After all, these folks are working their butts off. And what do they get? A silly disco ball trophy! At least we can give them a little respect by making sure the voting IS really about the dancing, and not an agenda to reward or humiliate anyone just for who they are.

But they are *all* working their butts off! So it isn't like the "best" dancer is working harder than the rest and thus deserves it more.

To me, the show has never totally been about who is the best dancer. I think Gilles was a far better dancer than Shawn Johnson, but she was an adorable American gymnast. Mario was better than Emmitt, but Emmitt shimmied into people's hearts. Helio beat out Mel B - I'm pretty sure that's just because everyone freaking loves Julianne. Sabrina Bryan was kicked off early in the competition and she was a great dancer.

I think people vote for the best dancer, the dancer they personally like best, the pro they like best, the celebrity with the best story, the celebrity who grew the most...there are a lot of reasons, not all of which perfectly correspond to best dancer. Besides, they come in with such differing abilities that it would be pretty boring if the best dancer automatically would win; you could probably figure that out week 1. Even beyond that, if the show was merely about who was the best dancer, why have the public vote anyway? Often the judges LOVE dances I think are boring and are so-so on ones I thought were spectacular. I couldn't tell you what makes a good Samba or Waltz or Argentine Tango -- I know almost nothing about professional dancing -- so why should I be voting?

I'm throwing my two cents in here too just for the heck of it.

Jennifer: If it is indeed the BEST dancer who should win, she's got it nailed; however, during other seasons that hasn't been the case. Too bad!

Bristol: She's come a long way from the first show when I bestowed 'pity' votes for her. Having said that, I now vote for her because she's learned a ton about dancing - not about emoting, but definitely dancing.

Kyle: I would gladly bust that annoying kid in the chops. If he wins, I'll...I'll...be beyond furious :!:

Just adding a little here about Brandy. I thought she was an excellent dancer and the perfect partner for know-it-all Maks. Note to Maks: It's bad form to argue with any comments made by the judges. Definitely, no points for that, kiddo.

If they were close in their dance and entertainment ability I might consider things like personality, but they're not. I think Jennifer is the best dancer hands down, Kyle is the best entertainer, and Bristol is the best trooper.

Bristol should NOT be in the final. Yes she's made improvements but she should have been voted off weeks ago. This is for the best dancer. Shows like this annoy me because it's more of a popularity contest than ability. Jennifer and Kyle deserve to be there...Bristol??? Nope. She's much better now but she needs to show emotion on her face. When I watch her dance I hope she does well but I see baby steps of improvements in her technique but not on her face  (that's how she looks to me most times). She needs to dig deep inside and connect with her emotions but I do understand some ppl don't show emotion..my mom is like that..she's stone faced even when she's happy

Who do you think wins?? what did you think of last nights dances?

This is what I thought. . . I loved JG 1st dance and didn't like the last one. Kyle is a doll but I think his dances could have been better. Bristol did well in the first but I didn't like the last dance. Gosh, I have no clue who will win?

I think Jennifer Grey should win.

I agree with you, Skippy. JG's first dance was amazing. I didn't like that she danced to a DD song for the second dance, but maybe a lot of fans relate to her because of that movie? I dunno.

There was some booing last night from the audience at the lower scores received by Sarah Palin's daughter, but I don't think it was the best dance selection for her. She admits that she has a problem emoting, so perhaps they should have chosen a dance that was more FUN instead. Hard to say.

I think Jennifer really stood out as the best dancer, followed closely by Kyle. Kyle's freestyle was incredibly daring considering Len's preference for more traditional styles, and he and his partner pulled it off so well - major kudos! Bristol's first dance was good but not really of finals quality, IMHO. Her freestyle didn't do much for me at all. Once again she was at the bottom of the judge's scores - it will be interesting to see what happens tonight.

i want in on the dwts discussions

last night: loved jg first dance; really didn't care for her last one. kyle, love kyle but kinda spaced during his first dance (can't remember it) but thought his freestyle was fun & so him & lacey. bristol, here's my feelings on bristol: the judges have been hard on her all season b/c of her performance level. she has some natural inclination toward dancing but doesn't "go for it all the way" in terms of the characters, facial expressions, and sometimes her legs aren't powerful enough. but that said, i have no problem with her being in the final, after all america's votes count for 1/2. that's the show. as for last night, the first dance was much improved & i actually really enjoyed their freestyle & thought the judges were a bit harsh on her. i wonder if that will cause her fans to rally around her even more??

my predicition? i really have no clue (and i'm not really rooting for anyone), but unless bristol's judges scores are terrible tonight, i think she could pull it out.
