Design phase : 7.7ct yellow sapphire

Can you have them taken all out to play with?

-

Thinking out loud - The ring with the large red roval looks close to the proportions I expect, the shape of the casettes acomodating diamonds will be different :o The sapphire could live in a classic basket, perhaps made to back up the yellow colour somewhat (YG, double or tab prongs). This is easier to draw than talk about!

Yellow gold doesn’t make yellow sapphires look better- so it’ll all be in white metal
But I agree I like the ruby one best - myself

With elements from the roval red and the pink step cut rings, and the given set of stones, there is enough to define a first draft.

I also think you could use the bezeled three rounds and the side engraving of the pink diamond. - we will see which she prefers I guess. I asked her to send me some inspiration too

She likes this

The existing diamonds could be arranged as a triangle of sorts, the rest is still classical. Could be uncomplicated.

The pink ring is something else. The stone is smaller and shallow, the shoulder scrolls are proportional to it. It may turn very different scaled to the sapphire.

The only inspiration I would draw from the pink diamond is the engraving and that could be done regardless of stone depth

But yes two of the prong diamonds and two of the side small diamonds could arrange something nicely in the shank. Also I’d probabt do a small engraving where the last single diamond is in the inspiration above

I’m not much of help as I only have lots of vintage style inspiration pics, but am really interested to see how it turns out.

Good luck with the project and it’s so lovely of you to do this for your mum! :kiss2:

Hard to imagine, but this rounded fan shoulder detail

but much more sleek undercarriage

Neither of these are collets, but they give the allover vibe of that area.
While blue one style is pretty and red one style is drop gorgeous,
The cut of the yellow stone doesn’t seem to mesh in imagining it.

Large square with single round?

It here! The color is a bit more pastel than mine. I’d say fancy yellow vs fancy vivid yellow. Obviously my Daisy is perfect but I really love this one.

Wow - both sapphires are beautiful. I like the second of the green stone rings you posted probably because the setting seems similar to the current setting (therefore easier to visualise) but lighter and more elegant and modern but not overpowering.

@Niel
Curious where did you ( and your Mom) end up on this?

Funny you should ask. I purchased a lavender sapphire with a mount I wont use but should fit her sapphire perfectly. I have to send it to the jeweler to be sure but the measurements are quite similar

Omg that purple sapphire is stunning! What are your plans for it? i love the metal too, can't wait to see final pictures with the yellow in it!

So I had bought myself a purple sapphire that happened to be in a halo that was the perfect fit for my moms sapphire. I’ll get more photos but I’m so frickin happy about how it turned out and I can’t show her til Christmas
