That setting is beautiful Maisie

Absolutely gorgeous. As for me, I tend to find something that I like and stick with it. I''ve kind of been like that with everything.

Thank you Gypsy! I think its going to take about 3 weeks to make it. I should have the CAD images next week sometime so I will be sure to post them!
36.gif
Can''t wait. It''s going to be lovely! Have you seen Tawn''s WF spit shank? It''s got a round halo and plain shanks but it''s always been one of my favorites that they''ve done. I''m sure yours will be as stunning!

Personally, I was so confused that I completely befuddled my FI and we had to choose the ring - - in person - - together. I had saved so many photos and images on the computer, and cut out so many magazine photos, neither of us knew where to start. But when I saw my ring on the Tacori website, I knew. It was the one.

Beauty is nice, quality is paramount of course, trends are all well and good, but I think we all "know" when we finally make the decision. It speaks to your heart . . . it is your ring.

Oh Maisie, it''s going to be gorgeous. I can''t wait to see the cads.
36.gif

I was very indecisive with my choice; I didn't take quiiiite as long as Gypsy did, but it sure felt like it!
12.gif

I liked many different elements in rings, but wasn't sold completely on one ring exactly as it was. I went custom with Maytal Hannah and should be getting it in a couple weeks.

What I did was look at a lot of pictures, tried on a lot of rings, and wore a lot of fakies in order to rule out things. Now that I made my decision, sometimes I'll see something and like Sparkalicious think.... hmmmmm
27.gif
...but then I think, "Would I really prefer this to what I chose?" The answer is always no. Now when Maytal just emailed me to verify I wanted the platinum fleur de lis rather than the rose gold I was contemplating, I had a moment of indecision-panic but took a breath, thought, and knew I was happy with my decision.

There are still other things I like (like a split shank) that I wasn't able to do with this ring, but that just means I'll have to get another ring with a split shank.
31.gif

So, yes I kept changing my mind when choosing. Now that I have chosen, I haven't changed my mind or regretted my decision.

I have a setting I love, but I've seen another setting that I love. I don't know what to do. Can't make up my mind. So here I sit dithering around, going nowhere...you are not the only one!! I do think that split shank halo setting willl give you plenty of finger coverage

Maybe you should post them in a poll and let us decide.

I was the same Holly... lots of pictures and lots of going round in circles. I knew I wanted a halo with diamonds on the shank but I kept worrying that I might end up losing stones. I trust Whiteflash to make me a beautiful ring and I will take the best care of it.

I am excited for the CADS too Kaleigh!! I will post them the minute I get them! I just think the CADS make everything so much more real!!

I am really looking forward to seeing your ring Sera!! I love Maytals work!

I agree with Ellen, show us what you have been looking at Rising Sun and let us help you choose!!!

I have seen Tawn''s ring Gypsy... I love it! I have it saved in my pictures!!

FOUR YEARS. It took me four years. I bothered EVERY vendor on here. Kept changing my mind. I was a total PITA. Your fine honey. It's going to be beautiful, and worth the effort nd pain when you get done. I promise.

Wow, Gypsy, I didn't know it was 4 years. So I wasn't the slowest PS'er!! Well, then again, I got engaged 5.5 years ago, so in a way it is taking me longer.... And, since my custom ring is at this time a disappointment, now I am obsessed again... "if they can't resolve this issue, then..." and doing all the decision making/ pro's & cons again in my head and it's driving me crazy. And it feels like it will never be right. I really wanted it all to be done once I got my ring. I am so glad yours turned out beautiful and you are happy with it.

Its a halo setting with a split shank... a bit like this one:

It''s beautiful!

Dear Ellen and Maisie~I already know what the answer to the poll would be
2.gif
The potential setting is lotsofsparkle Tacori on SMTR. Click on my avi and then on gallery images to see my rings. I think that my rings need to be seen IRL to be truly appreciated. I tried on the Tacori anad it's lovely. It helps with DSS. It doesn't allow a wedding band to sit flush or even very close it. My set doesn't help with DSS, but has the va-va-voom sparkle factor
10.gif
The only remedy would be an upgrade, which is not possible at this time. So here I sit...dithering away...at least for the present
17.gif

I love that Tacori!!! But your set is stunning too!! I can see why you are dithering!!!!

I will stay with the split shank. I think its gorgeous.

I feel really tired from thinking about this new setting. I have a tendency to over-think and worry about things. Thats probably why I change my mind so much. I worry about making a mistake.
HI:

I looked, on and off, for the better part of a year--and it became like a full-time job. Eventually I stopped b/c it was just too time consuming and gave me headaches. After a two or three month break, I returnd to my jeweller (on a lark) and there "my ring" was! But for the H color of the center radiant, I love it too much to change it now, and besides, I could never go through that again! It was easier defending my thesis!

Happy hunting!

cheers--Sharon

I'm glad you were finally able to make a decision on your ring

Hey Maisie,
I kind of had a similar problem as yours. I finally found a diamond I like and I have to pick a setting and I can''t make up my mind.

In my case though, it will only be temp. for a year or so until I figure out what I really want.

I wanted something like Jcrow''s ring, Mara''s buttercup head, 6 prongs, simple and not more than $1100 or so, since this will only be temp.

I love Coatimundi''s setting, but it was a little hard to order from where she got hers and I really wanted WF to just do the whole ring.

I got price quotes for Jcrow''s ring, for the legato shared prong with buttercup head instead and in the end I decided to just go with the Tiffany knife edge, as long as it looks like elaineh''s. I went with 18kt. white gold as this is only supposed to be temp. anyway.

But, if I like it, I may hold onto it for as long as possible!

Good luck with your setting!

Yes, and it still changes all the time. I''ve just learned to stop for now and enjoy what i have. There is always going to be something out there I like better or that is different. Go with your gut...and once you''ve decided give youself a pre-set time limit on how long you are going to wait to change something down the road.

Canuk Gal.... I can totally relate to the headaches... I have spent way too much time in front of my computer trying to work out what I want. I know that this is the setting I really really want, I just didn''t have the courage to order it! I wanted something with lots of sparkle but worried that I might be too hard on my ring.

Butterfly..... I thought that my diamond was going to be my forever diamond... then I saw a deal that I just couldn''t let pass me by. I was very upset at the thought of not keeping my original stone and when we had car trouble and needed to use the funds set aside for upgrade, I was so relieved. I can''t wait to see my beautiful diamond again!! I love the ring in your avatar!!! Its stunning!!

Kcoursolle.... I know what you mean about stopping and just appreciating what you have. I think that its good advice for someone like me. I love looking at the beautiful rings on here, but I need to stay with my choice and not keep trying to get something different.
I am buying my new setting in 14K White Gold. I want to be sure that this is the style of ring that I will be comfortable with, and also that I will be able to look after the smaller diamonds too. If I decide that I do love it I am going to buy it in Platinum at a later date.

Maisie, honey, I think that is a beautiful setting but I have to give you some sisterly advice. Please don''t buy that setting with the idea of rebuying it in platinum later if you love it! If you change settings later, you can always put a colored stone in this setting. But you definitely don''t want two settings exactly alike! And you generally lose money selling a setting! I''d really advise you to go with either 18k wg or platinum now. It will cost you a lot less in the end than buying the same setting twice!!!!

I hear you DS .... I probably won''t go for two settings exactly the same. I may change some elements or go for something completely different. You know me... ''Mrs Can''t make her mind up!''

My husband has a 14k white gold Whiteflash wedding band. I really like the colour it has gone over time. He does too and probably won''t have it replated. I think most of the rhodium has worn off now and its a lovely colour.

I really don''t know if I ever want to send my diamond back. Maybe I will start again from scratch with another shaped diamond

Oh my... I changed my mind all the time. I had a specific idea at first, but then I started looking at pics and digging and learning about diamonds and I changed my mind at least 6 times within my 9 months as a LIW. I was driving myself (and my FI) crazy. And then I did the same with my wedding dress, my wedding band... heck, I even changed the whole wedding plans over once!

A girl after my own heart!! I feel so much better knowing I''m not the only one who chops and changes her mind!!!

I changed my mind soooooo many times, but it was before I got engaged, luckily! I probably would have been engaged sooner if I could have decided on the ring!

I love the new setting you''re getting-it looks beautiful! And just so you know, I''ve had my WF custom engagement ring with 3 sided pave for over a year and *knock on wood* I haven''t lost a stone yet! (Watch-I''ll put my ring on today and there will be 5 missing!) It''s 14k white gold also, and it hasn''t really changed colors that much yet.

I just couldn''t justify the extra money for 18k white gold since they look exactly the same. Plus I had my grandmother''s ring already and it was 14k white gold. I''m also not crazy about the look of platinum, so all my fine jewelry will be white gold. I agree with you that if you think you''ll change it at all, definitely stick to 14k white gold! That way if you do want to make changes or upgrade in the future it won''t be too expensive.

Anyways, I can''t wait to see your new ring! Do you think you''ll still upgrade down the road? I''m planning on buying a .5 carat ACA for my graduation present to myself and I want to be the new Maisie around here as far as upgrades go!
3.gif
I''m trying to decide right now how cheap to go on the setting since I know I''ll upgrade!

I''m a mind changer. Not so much a mind changer, actually, just a "let''s look at everything under the sun, piddle around for several months, then look again and be disappointed that there is nothing new before going back to my original choice". I''m really bad. I hate starting thread on here because I know no project will be done within the first year of starting a thread and contacting a vendor. I feel like I''m wasting people''s time and annoying them. I don''t mean to though.

The split shank is beautiful. I''m sure that you''ll love it!

Thank you for telling me how well your ring is holding up! I do worry a little bit about losing tiny stones - in the UK its hard to find decent jewellers, never mind beautiful tiny stones to replace lost ones. I think I would probably rather send my ring back to WF if it needed repairs. I am sure it will be fine though!

Lol @ your comment about being the new Maisie! That made me smile! I don't think I will upgrade this diamond, but I am open to buying something different later.. I love Asschers and Emerald cuts so who knows
9.gif

Also I really like the idea of a big diamond band for when we renew our wedding vows. Something I can wear on its own and still get lots of finger coverage. I love Eva Longoria's wedding ring. (Its at the bottom of this post if you haven't seen it before)

I am looking forward to seeing how you go with your .50... it will be fun to watch someone else upgrading!! If you really think you will upgrade a lot then get a basic setting till you have finished. Then get a bling-dingin gorgeous sparkley fantastic setting!!
