Does size REALLY matter?

I would keep the original diamond. I would take color and clarity over size.

I would do it, if you don't think it will bug you. I would rather have an eye clean I1 that is H&A ideal cut and .91ct than a VS2 .51, buuuuuttt, that's just me....I would make sure they have a trade-in policy if you find it bugs you (check out Dreamer Dachsie's many trade-ins for reference Sometimes things that aren't so big of a deal at first start to bug you more along the way...

I can attest that if diamonds matter to you and are something that bring you joy, if you allow yourself, then you will not be satisfied until you have a diamond that is the size you want. And then you will stop looking

Thank you everyone for all the great advice! It was really informative to read how you all feel about this and your arguments for and against have definitely helped with my decision!

I've decided to keep my .51 G VS2. I really love my diamond, I love how clean and white and sparkly it is. Having said that, I know that I am definitely a size wh0re, so I've decided to move towards a three stone project similar to Dreamer_D's... With a wedding to plan and pay for I know it won't happen anytime soon, but hey, this way I am something to aim for!
