I just got back from having my dress fitting. I have to say, the dress was every bit as gorgeous as I remembered, but I''m not 100% sure that it''s so gorgeous ON me. But, what''s done is done! I also hope the alterations go OK as I was a little distracted. Do you think the bust line is too high? We hiked it up a bit, hoping to avoid the nightmare of trying to hem this thing.

She had to take in a lot at the side, and I''m hoping that''s why I feel like I look a little chubby in this dress. Check out that beading though!

Here''s the back, unbustled.

Last one.

Well, so there it is. Too late to go back now!

Oops.. OK, so this is the last one.

Holy moly Batman! That dress is gorgeous!!! I love the train, I''ve never seen anything like it.

I have to say that the bust line seems a little high to me, but that''s my own personal taste coming out. Mostly stemming from the fact that I''ve always had to deal with covering UP cleavage, and having to make alterations because of DD+. Is there anything you can do about it at this stage in the game? Regardless, I think it''s a stunning gown!!

32 Double Dolly here too, Freke, so covering up was also part of my motivation! (Although my other dress (Part 2 of the wedding) does show the girls off a little).

I''m worried about this. It seems a shame for it to look silly like that. But I''m not sure what can be done other than telling the seamstress to STOP! And heading back to see her to fix it. It''s 2 hours on public transit, so I''m not horribly keen on that. On the other hand, it is my wedding dress. I dunno.

What do the rest of you think?

First of all, I have never seen your face before and you are so beautiful!
I don''t think the cress comes up too high. I think strapless dresses that sit too low have become so popular that this justdifferent by comparsion.
That being said I don''t think it would look bad lower either.

Gosh Brazen. I'm blushing!

I'm glad you think it looks Ok. I just sent pics to a few friends adn said 'What's wrong with this dress??! I'm not telling what's bugging me.' And those who've replied yet were all 'Uuuhhh? Looks good to me!'

I think it would probably have looked a titch better a titch lower, but it's probably not the end of the world. One of those leetle bridal details that only the bride would EVER notice and no one would ever remember.

Plus, maybe I'll score points for modesty from mom-in-law. Lots of their somewhat stuffy very old-world elderly friends are coming, so that can't hurt!

And it occurs to me, my magic pair of Spanx might help rein in the little tummy I sem to have going. What's wrong with being curvy, anyway?

LOL Indy...I am a 32 "Double Dolly" myself...that is the funniest thing I have ever heard! I have some concerns about my girls popping out of my dress, too, so am considering looking for something I bust out of a little less! Trust me, I feel your pain!

I think the top of the dress does come up a little high on the pictures you showed us, but what can you do to change it? Maybe do a little bit of a sweetheart or a dip somehow? I just don''t know how it could be done with all that lace. You also mentioned that you had it hiked up to avoid having to hem it, but would lowering at the top be better for the overall look, then worry about hemming the bottom? Just a thought...

I am curious what size dress was ordered as it appears it needs to be taken in quite a bit. On another note, I think the dress is absolutely stunning on you, and the train is to die for! I love how unique it is, and you have a fantastic figure, so I think with it fitting better, it should be just fine!

Let us know what you decide to do...good luck!

Actually I am willing to bet if the dress was a tiny bit tighter right under the ladies it would make your tummy area look less pronounced. And of course Spanx would help as well. Although I really think you''re seeing things-you hardly look chubby!!! What kind of undies were you wearing under it?

I went from a DD to a GG and back to a DD (with surgery) so I''m feeling you on the modesty thing. I''m so distorted from all of the cleavage that I''ve always had, that I think that a hint of the ladies has to show or I look weird. Apparently I''m passing it on to you.

I can''t get over the lace/beading. That dress is incredible.

ARGH! I feel like a major idiot. I wish I'd been more focused. Or, even better, I wish I had a posse with me like most brides do. MOOOOM! Bridesmaaaaaids? Where are all you guys when I need you?! Far. Far. Away.

Well, at least there will be time after the second fitting, in case anything needs to be mucked with a bit more.

And Harleigh this dress is from a consignment shop, so that's why it was ordered to size. It wouldn't have helped much though, because The Girls are so disproportionate to the rest of my bod. So I would have ended up having to get lots done to it anyway. (sigh)

First thing''s first, IG. You are gorgeous and I think that dress is just beautiful on you! It just needs a couple of tweaks to be absolutely perfect!

I do think the neckline is a touch too high, but we also can''t see your whole head, so maybe that''s why? I don''t know - I think I would be looking for slightly, slightly taller shoes to compensate because I too worry about what would happen if your seamstress tried to hem it.

Either way, that dress is killer and your body looks fantastic in it!

Ah, Lauren. The shoes. The shoes are already 5" platforms. There's no taller for them to get.

I think what I'm going to do is take a deeeeep breath. Then see what the dress looks like after round one of tweaks. Then get round 2 of tweaks if necessary. And when I go back, I will rope a local friend into going with me. That can just be a little awkward because only one of them is actually invited to the wedding.

But still. If the dress doesn't end up 100% completely perfect, it's hardly the end of the world!

Wow your dress reminds me of mine! It''s beautiful.

Indie, I love the detail on your dress; it is so beautiful!!! It looks fab on you and the train is amazing!!! BTW, I am so jealous of the beautiful natural curly hair.

i agree, i think the neckilne is a titch high...but the dress is gorgeous and you look fab in it! with a caveat being i am the opposite of "double dollies" and don''t know much about having to work around them....rather i have the opposite problem to work around. sigh...sometimes i realy wish boobs were distributed a little more equally between women.

I agree with the others...neckline a tad high, but isn''t weird looking or anything, and doesn''t stop you from looking stunning in the dress!

I''d lower the neckline also. It''s a beautiful dress and I love the train on it.

I''m like gingerBcookie, I''m so tiny in the chest area I have trouble finding bras that fit (I''ll have to wear "chicken cutlets" to fill in my dress a bit...), and personally I think the neckline looks just fine.

That dress is absolutely fabulous and you look spectacular in it! I can''t wait to see your wedding pics.

First off, I think the dress looks great on you! What a stunning train! About the bust line, I actually prefer a slightly higher neckline. The Romona K I ordered will sit quite high and cover a lot up with that ruffle. But I like that because I am one of those people who don''t think a bride should show much cleavage at her wedding. It''s really such a personal preference thing. That said, even if you think it is a touch too high, since it is a strapless dress, do you think it will "settle" a little lower naturally as you wear it? I know that every strapless dress I have worn ends up a bit below where it started the evening. :) But no matter what you decide, you are going to look so beautiful!

I have NEVER seen a wedding dress that has made my eyes pop out of my sockets like that baby! Holy COW, it is just breathtakingly beautiful! And you look AMAZING in it!! I can''t wait to see it when it''s finished being taken in and everything...it is just so intricate and delicate and lovely and just utterly perfect!

You look beautiful! The dress is perfect as is. I love all the intricate detail.

That dress looks STUNNING on you!!!!!!!!!!!! What are you talking about!?...it''s perfect! I love all the detail!!!!!

Indy - I''m wondering if part of thinking the neckline is too high is how much the dress needs to come in, especially at the sides and around the waist. The neckline honestly looks borderline to me in those pics, but I think its always better to err on the side of having it too high than too low. but really I''d wait and see how it looks when it fits the rest of your body better, because I really think that might change the whole look.

On the upside, the dress is stunning on you, and stunning period, and I''m sure you''ll be a lovely bride no matter what decisions you end up making about the alterations

What a beautiful dress! It looks great on you. I don''t mind the neckline and I don''t think you need spanx either!

Congrats! You will be stunning!

Thanks everyone! I decided that what I should do is to stop fretting and see how it looks when the alterations are done, as Amber suggested. I don''t HATE the neckline, and most of my friends didn''t notice it until I pointed it out. So I guess it doesn''t look horrible, even if it doesn''t look perfect.

One of my local pals has agreed to go with me when I go for Fitting 2, and to be brutally honest if she thinks it looks funny. Then we''ll just go from there.

Part of me feels like I should be taking it more seriously, and part of me feels like I''m taking it TOO seriously. I mean, seriously, does it really matter if the neckline is a smidge too high? If I don''t look 100% perfect? I''m sure I''ll look fine, and it''s probably just not worth the stress, y''know?

That said, if it looks funny-ish at fitting 2, and there''s an easy way to fix it, so be it!

VA-VA-VOOM! That dress is gorgeous! Congrats on a great find!
