I got mine today. I paid some of my CC bill. So depressing.

I got mine today at last! It''s going straight on the mortgage. I also - unexpectedly - got paid $400 this week for speaking for 15 minutes

. I thought I was doing it for free as a favour, but I wasn''t about to say no to the honorarium when they told me!

Add in what''s leftover from selling the wedding gowns on ebay, after the breast cancer donation, and...

I''ve passed the mark! I now officially own more than half my condo!

Hurray!

I checked our account this morning and wahhoooo! It came!! And then, doing my part to stimulate the American economy, I called Mark at ERD to place an order on a pair of studs! Yayyyyy!

For those of you unsure about your stimulus payment status, you can go to the IRS website, enter your information, and it will tell you your payment amount and expected day of delivery. Hopefully that will clear up some of the confusion!

IRS: Where's My Stimulus Payment?
I think that website is a phishing site - there is no way they would ask for your social security number in order to tell you whether or not you are getting a stimulus check. Right? Also, the site is https: but there is no "lock" on the bottom right corner. Suspect!!

The "where's my stimulus payment" link takes you to sa1.www4.irs which also seems sketchy. hmmmmmmmmm

Hey there, I got there by navigating through the official IRS website. If you look at the source for the link in my post, you''ll see it''s http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=181665,00.html -- once you went there, it took you to www4 (large sites will use multiple sites and a www number system for subdomains.) Feel free to just go to irs.gov and navigate that way, but that''s how I got that link.

I might be wrong about it being a phishing site, but it raised my suspicion enough that I am not entering my SSN into it.

why is there no lock in the bottom corner though, in spite of the https?

nevermind, I was wrong. For some reason my browser wasn''t picking up the security certificate. Sorry for the false alarm

That''s awesome, Indy. Good for you!

Hubby and I got our money deposited as well. I don''t think we''ll be spending it. At this point in my life (just finishing med school w/ crazy school loans), I''ve become such a money saver that spending feels so wrong now. Into the bank for the someday house fund!

DH and I haven''t gotten our $1200 yet - I think we''ll be among the last since we are getting paper checks. Ours is going straight to savings - bad Americans!

Sure, I can think of things to spend it on but it''s better off hiding in the envelope hidden in our house with the rest of our savings.

I was also under the impression that the "rebates" are actually an advance on taxes for next year - which from what I see posted here seems to be true. I knew when I first heard about these "rebates" that there was a catch and it seems I was right. There''s no such thing as free money!

Hey Diva as a thought, have you considered stashing your savings in an online higher interest savings account? When you keep money in cold cash in the house, it can lose up to 5% (more these days) of its value due to inflation. Just something to consider to help your stash grow!

Wait..........Was that a serious comment about stashing savings in an envelope in the house...?
