The Javitz Center in NYC. I go there a lot for trade shows for work. It''s a step cut but it''s freaking unbelievable how much it lights up and turns colors.

I also like my ring in diffused afternoon lighting, in my house. You can really see the steps clearly, and the stones look bright-white.

That is why i love step cuts. Nothing beats those broad flashes of color... .....

I agree with a few others; little spots of sun through the trees are awesome..

My second pick is this lecture hall on campus.. Its huge but has those wonderful halogen lights which make it tough to pay attention to the professor! *hehe*

When I'm leaving for work in the morning, I go out our back door... and just the way the sun is shining through our pergola... ***ohmyword***!!!!

My diamond just goes CRAZY with color, and if I wasn't careful, I'd be late for work EVERY DAY!!!

-Lecture all on campus. I was staring at my ring while I was supposed to be proctoring a midterm!
-Museums. Again, I was staring at my ring while I was supposed to be looking at works of art.
-Outside my apartment, where I'm blessed with the SoCal sunlight.

Just thought I''d add mine----the pool table lights. They''re so bright and all the colors from the pool balls and felt can be seen in my diamond.

Barnes and Noble bookstores and grocery stores are the best for me.
I also like the way it looks on cloudy days, NEL.

In a nightclub. Low lighting plus really high potlights equals sparkle mania. It looked like I had one of those flashing disco lights on my finger!

In our local concert hall (classical, not rock). I was listening to the orchestra...and then I caught sight of my stone and I don''t remember the rest of the program.

I am sure someone has started this topic before but whatever.

That first line totally cracked me up. I loved the added "whatever"

my ring does awesome in the sunlight, but it goes NUTS in stadiums, especially joe louis arena (where the wings play) and the palace (pistons). i can hardly watch the game! (neither can FI because every three minutes i''m like "look at it! LOOK at it!")

I think I welcomed you earlier, Sarah, but welcome again!! Great topic--I am not engaged yet (soon!) but I wear my great-grandmother''s diamond engagement ring on my right hand and it sparkles like crazy when I''m shelving books at the library!

I hope to give you and your rhino dad my business in the not-too-distant future for my e-ring!

Cloudy days.
Me too, NEL! I think this must be universally great asscher lighting. It really brings the steps out. All my favorite pics of my asscher were taken in this lighting.

For sparkle/fire, though--our bedroom, but only at night when the light is on, looking at its reflection in the mirror. It goes CRAZY! (FI caught me doing this the other day and had a good laugh at my silliness.)
Welcome, Sarah!

Hola, Sarah!

My favorite lighting environments -
1. In my car, usually going home in the afternoons. I can just crack my window just a bit, rest my hand on the steering wheel and bam!
2. At work - thanks to the candescent (sp?) lighting and the halogen lights. It''s fantastic, even when dirty.
3. Dim places (movies, restaurants, etc.)

In my bathroom

Tiffany concession in Selfridges

Numerous London restaurants - FI thinks it''s most amusing the way I check for downlighters

I have the wrong fridge

I haven''t had a chance to see mine in very many lighting conditions yet but so far it''s in the bathroom, while I''m spinning around in circles. Soon-to-be-fiance thought I was insane but then I made him try it too and he thought the effect was so cool.
