I have a 2.5 c OEC solitaire that I originally got to put stacking bands with. I can’t seem to decide on stacking bands that work with it, and I’m wondering if I just need a setting with more “presence” on my hand instead of stacking. My fingers are size 6.25 and I have really long fingers, so I feel like the dainty stuff just isn’t working for me. I’m thinking of a three stone but can’t find side diamonds - currently tossing around the idea of side sapphires. What are your favorite settings with presence that might be good with an OEC? Not interested in a pave halo setting...

Someone has an OEC with trap sides that I just love. Don’t remember who owns it but it is beautiful!

How about different types or halos, as there are many variations of halos?

DK :))

Do you like CVB’s style?

I'm not a fan of sapphires as side stones for an e-ring, perhaps right-hand ring. I prefer for an e-ring to go with all colors I may be wearing so I want my e-ring to be "neutral". If I had a rhr with sapphires I would wear it when I was wearing colors that coordinate. I also don't like that sapphires don't have the sparkle that a diamond does. For a rhr I like how that would make the diamond stand out, but for my e-ring I would want the entire piece to sparkle consistently.

I really like some of hers, but I’ve reached out several times and can’t get a response. She responded at first, but then nothing. I’m sure she’s really busy at this time of year.

I’m open, I just would want the right thing for the OEC. It’s an L which I don’t mind, but I don’t want to accentuate it’s color. Does that make sense?

I’m sorry to hear that, although I can’t say I’m surprised. She has a very vintage aesthetic so if that style appeals to you you might want to do some searching of Pinterest/Lang’s/eragem/OWD/JBG/etc for inspiration and ideas.

Got it.

Here is the fabulous 5ct+ U-V OEC with tapered French cut stones that belongs to @Acinom, set by VC for your inspiration.

Did you rule out a bezel? That can add quite a bit of presence and still be classic. Not to mention so easy to wear!!

A three stone would be the easiest way to add presence, but I think I would put sapphires with a modern round brilliant.

(Yes, Caysie is swamped so I would recommend contacting her after the holidays.)

I'll just post some random settings that have presence without being a traditional 3 stone. First two by CVB,

This is the inspiration ring for my own 8mm blue OEC Zircon, with some modifications made to it, and it is not a standard halo as such:

Just realized - if you want side diamonds for a regular 3 stone could the vendor making the setting source them for you?

I just sent a diamond to DK to turn into a 5 stone ring & he offered to source diamonds for me (and for less than I could do on my own).

I just worry about a bezel darkening a stone, but I don’t know much about this stuff! Haha!

I reached out to him, and he told me I would have to source my own. The only pair I’ve found that seem like they might be a good match are from JBG, but they’re over my budget. I would LOVE for whoever is making the setting to source the stones! It’s been frustrating trying to do myself.

I love the two by CVB and the last one! I just wish I lived in an area with good options to try on. It’s so hard to make decisions without seeing things on your hand.

I love my OEC, but if I had known how challenging they are to work with, I might not have gotten one

If I were in the market for another substantial round diamond for a ring, whether mined or lab/MMD, it would have to be an OEC, and shall continue to play the lottery!

Here is another inspiration for an old cut that I have in mind:

How about a coloured stone halo instead of diamonds?

I do love my OEC, it’s just harder to walk into a jewelry store and buy something that goes with an OEC!

I think a colored stone halo would be really nice - maybe sapphire French cuts?

Check out the CS halo settings listed by Ivy and Rose Vintage on Etsy or their eBay store which is MyDiamondZone.

In fact, just have fun trawling through their sites for vintage-inspired eye candies!

Another site for inspiration is Lang Antiques.

Was he sourcing OEC diamonds or modern?

My project is MRB so def easier.

But I might hit up Sako too if I were you. Sako has diamonds and presented them as options when I was doing my own diamond pair search for my toi et moi. I would imagine OWD could find a pair... they have so many diamonds. Ivy & Rose too - I bought my first pair from them but returned it.

I agree. I have had my diamond for over 7 years and still have not been able to choose a setting!
There are a lot of options, but I can't narrow it down to one!

Would have to source OEC sides myself. Although in my case, I'd have them cut to match.

I’m having a hard time making the photos larger to really look at the diamonds but could these be side stone options? Per the listing they’re M colored and 0.75 ct each.

I’ve tried a pair from Ivy and Rose that didn’t work, and I’ve contacted Adam several times, but he must not have anything for me. I just reached out to Sako, so we’ll see what he says!

I’ll check these out. I’ve never ordered from eBay
