Finding a Paraiba or Copper bearing Tourmaline

Woah CONGRATS, that indeed looks like a bright ice worthy paraiba. This one is faceted, so you just need to buy a cab from Jochen now. :geek2:

Thanks @voce, I believe it certainly is. I truly lucked up on this one! I’m considering keeping this and getting a cabochon as well.

Beautiful! Congratulations on a great find. Can't wait to see this set.

Now that is stunning! What a gorgeous Paraiba, with a great size.

Thanks @Bluegemz, I took a chance and made an offer. He took it with no hesitation and told me I got a great deal. He’s not a gemstone dealer but sells coins and odds and ends jewelry.

You really found something special! I love finds through people like this. Sometimes they have amazing things.

Wow, what a great find! And it's amazing in person. Congrats on something so special!

Woohaa! This is sooo Bright Ice worthy! The stone looks even more stunning in your real life pics. It reminds me of the blue version of @Art Nouveau ‘s ring. I cannot wait to find how you will set this beauty. Do you already have any ideas?

Thank you @Bluegemz, it's a great find for sure!

Thank you @lovedogs, it's much more beautiful in person. I had the seller send me photos on someone's hand but they still didn't compare to what it looks like IRL.

I love it! Congrats :) who’s the vendor ?

@Rare gem lover the seller is ghjewelryandcoinsllc. He carries a variety of coins, jewelry and a few loose gems. I assume he had just sent it to GIA for certification in May/2018.

Wow, beautiful, and perfect size. This tread is dangerous for me....

Thank you @Rubybrick, diving into Paraiba is going to be dangerous for me as I now want a Cabochon, a sugarloaf and more!

Thank you @Acinom, yes this one is Bright Ice worthy! It's amazing how it glows, the color is beautiful and I'm hooked on Paraiba now! I don't have a firm setting nailed yet but I'm looking through IG. I will halo it for sure, maybe rose cuts and I'm thinking about purchasing some of these for a second halo and possibly in the gallery and shank design.

Thank you @qubitasaurus!

Ok guys give me opinions please. This is a Paraiba cabochon from Jochen, it’s 7.48 ct 14.4 x 11.5 x 5.9.
He says it’s a beautiful color. Is it deep enough?

Beautiful pictures, @bright ice !
My personal opinion is that when it comes to cabochons, the depth doesn't matter as long as the appearance is good. Unless you want to turn it into faceted someday. I think in this case, because the stone was shallow the cutter decided to make it into cabochon to conserve weight. The color is certainly great!

The color looks great to my eyes and it’s a nice size! Difficult to predict how it looks in person but it looks like a very nice stone

Oh wow. What a find! Your faceted Paraiba is GORGEOUS! It’s so clean!!

Love his work! Beautiful detailing. Your faceted stone is soo beautiful and big that it will also shine in a simpler setting. And I love the NS orientation of the Paraiba on your finger.

The cab inspiration settings will fit your cab nicely. Personally I would set it NS as well.

Congrats on your great find! Your patience has really paid off. :appl:

Good thing I bought some of these melee before you found your paraiba...otherwise there wouldn't be any left! Guess you're setting it with paraiba halo then?

@voce what did you do with yours?

I’m going to have a halo using a mixture of these and diamond melee.

Like one of these?

I’d say similar but haven’t nailed down a design as of yet. I’m open to any ideas though. I’m hoping the melee are a good match for my stone.
