I initially fell in love with anything and everything Tacori, didn''t matter what shape the stone was. I ended up with (originally) a .25 ctw 4 princess diamonds invisibly set to look like one. After we got married, I had the 4 stones channel set in the band (2 on each side) and replaced the center diamond with a .51 princess. I wore that until this past November when I finally got my dream ring - a 1.19 Asscher solitaire. I am in love!

When I decided it was time to actually buy a nice ering I loved the princess cuts, so that is what I ended up with, we bought it in 2002, I still like it, but I would love to upgrade to a 1.5 round

I was not in love until my 2nd e-ring with my exhusband. for the first e-ring we had gone into a jewelry store shopping for it together and she asked if we liked colored stones. My ex said he loved rubies as they are his brithstone. She got all excited and brought this little wedding set that I did not love (or even like) but he did so it was hard to say anything bad about it, honestly I was happy to be getting a ring at all :) It had a small probably 1/4 ct round center stone with baguette rubies on the side. I eventually did tell him that I did not like the ring and he gave me the okay to look. Not long after I started working at a jewelry store :) I ended up getting a great deal on a lovely e-ring it was a .72 ct center round with .25 ct side trillions. It was beautiful and VERY sparkly, I loved it! The only issue we had with it was we could not find a wedding band to fit with it, even a curved one would not fit. That broke my heart as I reallly wanted to wear a wedding band along with my e-ring. So we made changes again haha. I found a beautiful semi mount with baguettes and had my center stone set into it. I took the trillions and had them made into earrings. So I had 3 e-rings with the ex husband maybe that should have been a hint that things would not work out haha.
The end result was very similar to this and I wore a plain gold band with it as my wedding ring. All of these were in yellow gold of course, it was still popular in the 90s.

It was the Lucidia for me. Still love it but my current e-ring is not even close to similar. Funny how things change!

The first ring I ever loved was the first one I saw - probably an estate ring online - that had a ring of small round diamonds around a round center...more of a cluster ring, almost. I used to search online for rings with what I called a ''frame.'' Then I found PS and the term ''halo'' and I never looked back.

The first e-ring I ever loved was my best friend's. It is 3/4 carat RB in a simple yellow gold setting. It just looked so lovely. Or maybe it was because the love she and her husband shared was so admirable and amazing. This was before I met FI and everything about her was beautiful to me. Still is! Ahhh, good girlfriends are gold!

My first love was the Tiffany Legacy. Couldn''t really be more different than my ring now (see avatar).

My first love is a princess; I wanted a princess solitare until I tried it on; it did not look flattering on me. Then I ended up with a classic round and when I got married we added trillion side stones.

I remember my first e-ring love like it was yesterday

I was only 21 or so and had no urge to get married at all, but several of my friends/coworkers seemed to be getting engaged and it was the first time I noticed that there was actually a difference in diamonds (they come in different shapes?). I didn''t really feel strongly about any of them until...

A coworker of mine came in one autumn day sporting what she called an ''asscher''. Because I knew NOTHING about diamonds, I had no clue what size it was, etc. but looking back I''d guess it was about 2 carats and it was on a delicate bead-set eternity band. She saw it at an estate jewelry shop on a weekend trip and her fiance bought it for her without her knowing. I loved that it was vintage, I loved the hall of mirrors effect. I must have asked her to show it to me a half a dozen times and that was it for me. I''ve loved asschers ever since.
NEL, I have nearly this exact same story, except it was my DH''s co-worker, and she came in one day with an Asscher with side traps, and it was LOVE for me! Then the Daniel K ads started showing up everywhere, and then the SATC engagement ring . . .

So I''m feeling like Julio Iglesias... To all the rings I''ve loved before.

10 years ago I saw a Debeer''s ad with a ring with a princess center and pear sidestones and it was a revelation. All I''d seen before that was rounds or poorly cut fancies and I was ''blah'' about diamonds. That ad changed my mind. Debeer''s ad campaign works. LOL.

Someone on RT just asked for this combo and it took me back.

What was you first love? And what did you end up with?

your asscher!!!! do you have a thread on it??

I missed this thread until now!

The first ring I loved, I tried on in the LA diamond district. It looked essentially like this one, except with princess side stones instead of square baguettes (I like this one better, come to think of it

).

Princess center stone, channel-set princess sidestones, reverse-tapering. Modern, clean lines.

And here''s what I ended up with: an asscher in an antique-style setting with bead-set sidestones and ''shoulders.''

In the grand scheme of rings it''s not all that different, really... reverse-tapering of the shank, 1/2 eternity sidestones, square-shaped center stone. The style genre, though, is pretty different (modern and clean vs. antiquey).
