Gene's newest stones (precision gem)

The silky sapphire is here. I feel like I should caveat my post by saying I am mostly a pricescope observer... and am very lucky in that irl I love stones with quirky personalities that it seems like the majority of folks here would not be into. This stone seems to be along those lines :)

My first impression was that the stone is quite brown in person rather than peachy orange (not shocked given the price & origin of the rough.) In various lights different colors came out, mostly on the pink/dusty rose side, and the cutting is quite lovely. I haven't seen the stone show as orange as in Gene's photos.

Initial impression indoors with poor lighting:

Indoors with indirect light:

Thanks for sharing. I love the sun shot as well and the sleepiness really accents this gem.

That sun shot!
Is what you are seeing close to what’s represented on your monitor?
do you happen to still have any incandescent bulbs? I’m curious to what it looks like to you there.

Yep, it does look quite similar to this in real life, though in person there is a bit more light reflecting out of the outside facets than the pictures show--a bit like a rose cut in that regard.

When I asked my husband if we have any incandescent bulbs, he laughed in my face, so I suppose that means no! Now that it is nighttime, here's a shot in fully unnatural light next to a lab padparadscha from Gene. 20210320_225315.jpg

Those tanzanite are yummy!

FYI New stones listed now but most are lab.

I'm hoping someone on this board picked up Gene's new red spinel single or pair that was recently posted. Would love to see your new gems!

Were they labs? I don't remember them.

Spess finally arrived! Unlike most I’ve had in the past, it’s pretty much straight up orange, not yellowish. I’ve left it in the box because I’ve been really tired and didn’t trust myself! Took a pic with my other spess, which has a kiss of red in it, for comparison. Solo pic is indoors, comparison pic is outside on a cloudy day 1A61A21C-0E9F-4160-AC1E-AF63B5344962.jpeg37F0DF01-59A7-496E-A0F1-3683490BB4A7.jpeg

That’s gorgeous! :kiss2: I love seeing your other spess in there for comparison. That ring gets me every time!
