I read this the other day, and couldn''t pass up, passing it on. I''m sure it reflects the voices of many. When I first got done reading it, I thought, wow, that''s really good. And given the content, which is all true imo, that''s really sad....

Goodbye

What a load of crap (the letter, nothing personal). It''s going to be tough when he isn''t around to blame everything on anymore and the Holy One has to actually stand and deliver. He''s backpedaled so much already that it''s hard to remember what promises he still has on the table. I expect by this time next year there will be much disappointment in LaLa land.

Thanks, Ellen, for posting that article.

Though there are many challenges that lie ahead, I cannot wait to turn the page on the Bush Administration. Obama will not magically solve everything but I am hopeful that he is a step in a better direction.

That was AWESOME! Bush has f___d up on so many levels that it''s nice, in a morbid way, to see a summary of the carnage he wrought.

Goodbye to the Bush Doctrine of preemptive war. Goodbye to the lust for sending off other people''s sons and daughters to fight and kill and die just to show your daddy you''re a real man. Goodbye to playing dress-up in flight suits, goodbye to strutting and posing and desperate sexual insecurity as a driver of American foreign policy. Goodbye to the neocons, so sinister and deluded they beg us all to become fevered conspiracy theorists. Goodbye to Guantanamo and its kangaroo courts. Goodbye to the use of torture as official U.S. government policy, and goodbye to the immoral ghouls who think you can rename it "enhanced interrogation techniques" and render it any less monstrous.

WHAT?????? This guy is nuts.

So what are we going to DO with Guantanamo????? Bring these people into the US for a trial????? These people would kill us at the drop of a hat!!!!! I agree that we need to do something with them, but don''t bring them into the US. Send them back to Afganistan or Iraq for trial!!!!

Must you always refer to Obama as "The Holy One", or "The Messiah"? I for one, find this really offensive!!!!!

It seems that the people who wholey disagree with this piece have been living in a different country than I have. Picking out two or three examples of contentious points in an article rife with points does not make the general premise incorrect, or even most of the points. There is pretty general consensus that Bush is one of the worst presidents ever, and making this point has no bearing or reflection at all on Obama. He is not the president yet, and he is not the subject of this particular rant. We have to collectively wait at least 4 years before we can throw Obama under the bus.

Won't speak for the writer because he's clearly a deluded hater of the United States. But as far as Gitmo goes, yes. We will bring them onto our shores and at that very moment they will have all the rights and legal benefits of any American on trial in this country, including ivy league lawyers.

...hater of the United States? "With us or against us," right?

LOL, I know right? By criticizing bad governing and the preservation of rights, you become a ''deluded hater of the US''. Unless the poster meant Bush and Cheney, at which point I may concede that many of their policies were deluded and hateful to american rights, liberties and general welling being and interests.

And I will say that criminals deserve rights too. It is the right thing to do, and the right standard to set for the world, since we Americans feel the need to be world role models. If Americans are taken and detained with or without cause, I hope they are taken by countries that will try them fairly with all the rights of the citizens of that country.

Sending them back is as good as releasing them back into their environment.

I agree, "The Messiah" and "Holy One" are terms that really do not need to be used. No one is bowing down at the feet of Obama. We are just excited to have an individual of intelligence taking office. I guess that is too much to ask for some people, huh?

Maybe, maybe not. I guess it depends on if they''re really as bad as Bush says they are. But maybe, a trial would prove they''re innocent....

There''s more where those came from, but I''m tired of linking. And if the ones left really are guilty of something, then for God''s sake, give them a fair trial and imprison them. In a REAL prison.

beebrisk, this man doesn''t hate the US, he just hates Bush. He''s not alone. But don''t take us Dem''s word for it (and some on his own side), just look at the reaction of practically the entire world when Obama won. Do they have it wrong too? Can that many people be wrong? I''m asking sincerely.

Too bad we can't say "goodbye" to this article as it goes back up the dark abyss of the nether-regions of this pompous nitwit, from which it came.

Well, I certainly wasn''t throwing the whole article "under the bus", but I certainly outlined the comments which I thought were particularly silly. Yes, Bush is rather irritating to watch when he speaks. No doubt. But to judge a whole country by one person, yes, a very important person, when we have loads of idiots in the house and senate on both sides, who are also to blame for all the crap that is going on now is rather silly. I also think of the world''s reaction to Obama, or anyone like him, as kinda dangerous. It seems to me that the world is ripe for someone to "save them".

Call it what you like, but what it boils down to, is that just about everyone is ready to see Bush go. Yes, we are ready. And apparently, we on this board are not alone.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – As President-elect Obama visits the White House, a new national poll suggests that the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is the most unpopular president in the six decades since presidential approval ratings were first measured.

You guys can ignore this all you want (like my last post), but the fact is, as that poll states, that this man has done a horrendous job. We aren't "making this up". And for the record, I don't like disliking my president this much, I do not relish this. I don't think many do. But we are happy to see him go.

A big ditto.

P.S. Ellen, Bush also has the HIGHEST approval rating of any president ever recorded, from right after 9/11--no doubt why he was reelected. Dems have hated Bush from the beginning when they thought he stole the election. Republicans only REALLY started being dissatisfied in the last 2 years or so, when the Dems took over congress. Connection? Maybe.
I also disagree with you, while you do not disliking your President, I think others THRIVE on it.

You guys crack me up. Nobody will address the facts.

So, I''ll quit, since you guys keep ignoring them, and the other side understands them. My work is done.

That''s all they''ve got. Obama is extremely intelligent, good-looking, charismatic, tall, happily married, he has 2 gorgeous little girls, he''s articulate...the list goes on. They''ve got nothing on him, really! Or should I be typing Him?

Hmph.

I''ll have you know I''m not dumb, not heinous looking (no one''s ever thrown up), caricaturistic, average height, happily married (I wouldn''t ask TGuy his opinion though), have one gorgeous little girl and can blab away like no one''s business.

I could have easily been elected prez if I were natural born! Take that, Obama worshippers!!!
