From the photo, the olive one takes 10 pounds off you. I like the color with your skin tone too.

The last one is my least favorite.

LOVE the olive one! The shorter one is cute and it is flattering on you but not for a NYE wedding. Definitely the olive one! You have a cute figure Gypsy...

Whew! Thanks guys (surfgirl, I appreciate the compliment on the figure

). John still loves the rose gown. And he's telling me I need more votes from you all to decide.

But the olive one is the one that I like from the pics. Depending on the undergarments (I'd like a longline with boning I think) I might get rid of the straps and have the neckline dipped a little to soften it. But it was really affordable and even came with a wrap, and is the right length already (you can't tell but with the pink one I'm wearing 4 inch heels and it still drags), plus as I got at Nordie's, so if I lose weight (signing up at gym this week) I can take it to them for alternations, plus they'll steam it the day before or day of if it needs it at any Nordstroms. I love Nordstroms.

I still might find something SUPER fabulous in Vegas.

With the olive gown don't think anyone is going to be looking at my shoes much, so I could just wear my Charles David antique gold pumps which are comfortable(although if a fabulous pair of open toe shoes I'm all over them), in all likelihood, get a clutch to match.

.....and then I'll need jewelry help from you all.

I think I need a FABULOUS pendant (fake) to take attention away from all that FLESH I have up top.

Yeah, well, after you *cough, elope, cough* to Vegas, you can shop a little on your Vegas minimoon...*aHEM!*

I think the olive one is definitely way more flattering than the rose one, and I thought I liked the rose one on you! I like the rose one in theory still because of the fabric color and material, but wow, the cut of the olive dress is really fantastic on you! The seaming really shows off your tiny waist...whether you keep that one or not, you should definitely get a dress that''s fitted in the bodice!

I actually like the neckline of the olive dress squared off like that and I like the skinny straps, too. Because the seams and the hem are so straight I think the straight neckline and straps work well with the dress. (Plus I don''t like strapless on me so I''m always biased against them!)

The patterned one seems too casual and it''s hard to tell how I feel about the pattern from the picture but I do think it looks good on you.

But really I want you to try on the teal Nicole MIller dress from Nordstrom that I posted because I love it!

I think all three options are lovely, but for this wedding I would probably go with the rose or the olive. I have to say, I saw this thread earlier and thought the rose gown was beautiful on you, and I still think it''s the most flattering of the three "IF" you feel comfortable. If not, I think the olive would be great. What I would do to be able to fill out the top of a gown like that....sigh

I like the rose and the olive dresses on you. You really look great! The most important thing is for you to feel comfortable in whatever you wear. Make sure whatever shapping piece you go with is comfortable too! I have worn them when they were a little on the tight side and was miserable the entire time!!

I did see this necklace that I thought was cute. The pendant is about 2 inches long.

Here is another from Zales. I like this more in person . . . it shimmers a lot

Good Luck! Let us know what you decide!

the olive one hands down. it''s funny that you posted that you wanted to take the straps off because i said, "ohhhh that''s perfect. actually. . .it would be better if she took the straps off." haha. I''m super busty up top, so i know how frustrating it can be to find something good. My bottom half is a 6-8. My top is always a 10-12. Lovely :-) Snip off those straps and you''ll be ready to go. and don''t listen to the boy on the rose dress. he''s not the one who''s wearing it and he doesn''t know how it feels when your girlies are about to fall out all night.

~cheers!

wow that olive one makes you look like a whole new woman!!! the patterned one is definitely doing nothing for you, and while i love the first original rose dress against your skin tone...it also does nothing for you. i totally think with dresses like the rose one that you have to have some serious boob controllage or fake boobies because those tops really don't flatter natural boobs...i can't wear them either at all. but i do love the color of it. but the olive one, definitely a winner, super cute!!!!

one idea on the olive is that i think the straps are a little too flimsy looking for the gown, so if you do remove them...what about using a wide olive ribbon that matches the sash or similar (or you can even maybe go black ribbon then do black shoes..., sewing it into the top of the dress in front and creating a halter style tie with the ribbon and then letting the ends flow down your back. that might be cute.

I definitely like the olive one the best so far. It looks VERY nice on you! I love that Betsy & Adam one on Nordstrom online too...but who knows how it would look on?

Okay so the olive one is winning so far-- although most love the color of the rose gown (I do too). I''m going to try to find time to go to off saks and last call neiman''s this week at lunch to see what they''ve got. I''m so glad I''m starting early on this dress venture, it''s so hard to find something that''s right and NOT in black. I''ll probably hit another Nordstroms (SF or Standford) one of these days too-- and if I''m in either of those areas, bloomingdales or another store might get hit as well. I tried on this dark violet gown at Macy''s that was fantastic color wise (we won''t talk about what it did to the girls), so I''m still holding out hope for a rich jewel tone gown.

Mara, it''s funny you mentioned altering the top with wider straps. The dress comes with a wrap... same fabric and color, and I was eyeing consideringly last night and thinking it might be a good idea to see what a seamstress can with it in terms of straps, if I decide to keep it.

The lace gown is going back ASAP. And I really think the rose one is going to be a PITA to be comfortable.

Siamese kitty... it''s funny that you say that... I was thinking yesterday that I''d kill for B cups (balanced with the rest of my body so I don''t look pear shaped)... funny right!

jazz gal... thank you for the jewelry suggestions!

DEFINITELY the dark green one! The rose one looks like a bridesmaid''s dress, IMO. Don''t fancy the third one.

Olive all the way!! Nice choice!

Oh and not to throw a wrench into the mix but I have been drooling over this dress at Nordies and just thought- maybe Gypsy would like it too? I have the same chesty issue and this one has nice wide straps and a rocking neckline and looks very similar to your rose color but is considered a brown.

Just another option!

mmm Nordies

shig that is a FABULOUS dress! I haven''t seen it in any of the Nordies I''ve been to, and honestly, I think I need a longer gown. But if you get it, please post pics.

Went to Last Call Neimans... if you are a size 8, you should definitely check it out. Otherwise... best of luck to you.

Off 5th Saks didn''t have their evening wear out yet, so I may check back-- I got a gorgeous Carmen Marc Valvo gown there 5 years back, I love the designer so I wouldn''t mind seeing if they bring anything else by him in... unfortunately that gown is black, as are the other FOUR gowns I have. NO MORE BLACK. It''s surprising difficult though.

I''m liking the olive gown more and more, just wish the color were a little different, might be worth a call to Nordies to see if it comes in a different color (other than black) maybe. Thank you all for your honest feedback and your help! I''ll update if I see any other contenders.

I''m so WAY in the minority here, but I much much prefer the rose dress to the others!

Musey...lol.
Merdcoli: Okay I love the last chocolate one you posted by Tadashi and really like green sheath, thought I don''t know how it would look on me. I''d love to find that Tadashi someplace close by though. Hmm.

I don''t know. I don''t LOVE any of them.
Mostly because, like what happens to me in strappy dresses, my boobs look like they''re suffocating!

I would recommend taking the olive dress to a seamstress and turning the wrap into cap sleeves or wide straps.

To make sure your girls don''t spill out the top or sides, I usually look for a gown with an off the shoulder finish, that comes high into the armpits.

THE TRUE TEST
Sit down in the dress and look at yourself. There are some revealing tops that I own that I love when I''m standing up but as soon as I sit down - like at dinner at a wedding - it becomes more apparent that they could fall out even more so.

Hmm Nordies has the canonical Tadashi dress, but not the brown one. I''ve purchased and returned things to Barrie Pace and it''s pretty hassle free, but it''s always fristrating to pay shipping on something that''s a risk!

Good luck; I think you have some great options.

I do have some nice options, thanks to you all. I do like the tadashi dress, but thinking about it just now, I can''t justify a $300 dress for this wedding. I''d really like to keep it at or under 180. And you are absolutely right about paying shipping. I hate to do it, especially as these dresses fit so particularly and it''s really like playing roulette, you just never know until you''ve got it on what it''s gonna do. Nordstrom''s doesn''t bother me as much as it''s $5 dollar shipping and in store return.

I love this dress

It's my favorite of them all. I know it's pricey, buy I think you would look stunning in it! If I had an occasion, I'd buy it for me. Bookmarks it...just in case

ETA: I noticed that Nordie's has it in Sable in size 10!

Just a note about that Tadashi dress- I bought it at Nordies in white thinking it would work as a wedding dress and it just didnt look good anywhere!! I dont think the front drapes correctly and Gypsy you and I look like we are built about the same.

I agree- dont spend more than $180 and believe me, you can definitely do better than that Tadashi!

And yes, if I get picks of the one I posted I will post them!

You like the jewel tones, want a long dress and I think we all loved the satin so (ok, more more only I promise!!) what about this one?

It even has sleeves so if you need to wear a bra to hoist the girls up you can!!

That one comes in the most AMAZING teal color, and they had it at Valley Fair. We won't discuss what it looked like on me, except to say that it was REALLY awful. You need EXACTLY her body for that gown. Nice choice though.

What do you think of these two? The jade one is a little bridemaid-ey... but I love the teal one without the bolero, and the bolero might be nice to have on NYE, plus in the catholic church they are getting married in.

I LOVE the teal one with the bolero!!!!! Simple and really beautiful lines!!

Okay I ordered the teal gown. It''s the exact color I want, and it seems as if it would cover the belly well, and it''s long. I''m not crazy about tafetta, but well, you can''t have everything. And the style looks flattering... it''s got a bolero, and it would look great with WG jewelery, which will be a lot easier to come by... plus depending on the color and sheen I can wear my grandmother''s turquoise pendant, and my turquoise ring. I might have to get matching turquoise earrings.

Hi Gypsy,

Sorry I''m so behind on posting, but just thought I''d chime in.

I love the rose colored dress with your skin tone...

Like the fit of the olive one better than the others you showed us, but I do love some of the options other people posted.

I''m looking forward to seeing you in the teal one next!
